While in the ring the damsels faced more than their arena foes. With some mysterious enemies in a sea of ne'er-do-wells the damsels are pulling at strings trying find a lead. Things take an interesting turn when they run into a burly man with spiked armor and a wicked sword comes to their table. The Damsels are at the only town for miles with a werewolf in tow. With a predominantly nocturnal town not much is on the streets during the middle of the day. We played the Phoenix Suns who have the 2nd best record in the entire NBA with no JB, Fournier or Timelord tonight. We also committed 23 total turnovers and Tatum scored 15pts on 3-17 shooting... How exactly did we win by 13 then?!?!? DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE. Our D tonight was as efficient as I have seen it all season long. We were getting in passing lanes, forcing shot clock violations, drawing charges in bunches and forcing tough shots. This was the fewest amount of points the Suns have scored all season long and that really goes to show how strong the defense played. The other major reason we pulled this one off was the outstanding play of Kemba Walker who finished the game with 32pts 4reb 4ast and 3 drawn charges on Booker. Not only did Kemba carry us offensively but he did it efficiently as well shooting 11-17 from the field and 5-6 from the line. He was doing absolutely everything he could to carry this short handed crew to victory. To win against a team like this with 3 of our top 6 out and having Tatum only play 34 minutes and shoot as bad as he did is incredible. We play Brooklyn tomorrow and there is so much question as to who is going to play on both sides of the ball as there seems to be a revolving door for both of us. The Damsels have been chasing a lead on Adlanna and tracked her last whereabouts to a sack outside the city. Keyanthi is still stumped over who to ask to be come an informant and finds advice is closer to her than she thought and they're hiding in the basement . The Damsels then track down Adlanna's last known whereabouts to investigate her disappearance. They come to a small shack outside of town and find it abandoned? Odd. After Tarina's sucess the Damsels return to home base, The Braydon Estate. Determined to find a way to get Liam back to his family, Luna braves the Oiche Clan and attempts to persuade the Lore Matron into a trade agreement. Tarina begins her research into the Fey and gets an unexpected visitor. Elendriel is conflicted about her new found feelings for Kenaris and asks Luna about the age old topic of love. Keyanthi is in for a rude awakening when her boss unexpectedly calls and inquires about the mission she was assigned. (Darn mages and their scrying mirrors.) But, Tarina gets a bit of good news with regard to her captured brothers. Next, the Damsels compare plans for saving Mara, their incarcerated friend. But Kenaris has another option.Conflict rises between the damsels when Tarina's Patron has a task for her but she has to stay quiet about it. Meanwhile, Elendriel gets a very enlightening book. Finally, the Damsels make a second trip to the High Priestess. We’re pushing out our next episode in the Giant Robots startup series. We want to pause to acknowledge, reflect, and take action against injustices against the black community. thoughtbot stands with the black community. We’re outraged by the systematic racism and violence in the US. George Floyd, Tony McDade, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, and too many other members of the black community have lost their lives due to racial injustice. It needs to end. We recognize we haven’t been doing enough to fight this injustice and need to be active in anti-racism. Our D&I council and many others on the thoughtbot team are discussing how we can do more and are working on new initiatives to better support our black colleagues, friends, and beyond - far into the future. We're looking to do things both large and small. For example, this week we changed our conference reimbursement benefit to only be applicable to conferences that have a diverse speaker lineup and a code of conduct. We hope our efforts will be useful to others as well, and plan to make them available to other companies to work from. In the meantime, we’re going to link to a reading list that we recommend. In the previous blog, we talked about setting up our pull chain for the parts that support the top 80% of the products you sell to customers. We discussed understanding the pull chain for each type of part that goes into your finished product. Next, we need to consider the customer demand for the products that make up your top 80% of sales. Assuming that we want to keep two day's worth of material at the assembly location, four days of material in the supermarket, and our supplier takes 20 days to replenish an order, how much material do we need at each location? Let's look at each of the items in the formula. The D is the demand of the parent the parts go into. Q is the quantity of this part that the parent consumes R is the replenishment time, or how long it takes to replenish a pull quantity when it is empty. P is package size. If the part comes in a plastic bag that contains fifty pieces that is the package size. The default quantity in this formula is one. Calculate the bin quantity for each location. To set up our pull system, we'll use a two-bin system. Imagine two bins each with the same part and quantity in them.  When the first bin goes empty are we out of parts? No, because we have a second bin full of parts. The formula calculates how many parts we need to keep in the two bins based upon the replenishment time. It is important to realize you have to put the aggregate parent demand into daily demand since we are calculating pull quantities based upon how many days of material we need. We can see that this part is used in parents A, F, G, and Q. Each of those parents' demand is shown divided by the number of working days to calculate a daily quantity D. In this example we build 250 units a year and there are 250 working days. Our D quantity in this example would be one. This is multiplied by how many are used on each parent which is Q. Round this quantity to the next highest whole number. It's impossible to have ½ of a part. Just so you are aware, these two numbers D and Q should stay static. Now, all we have to do is multiply ∑(D x Q) by the replenishment time R. This number varies depending upon how much material we want to carry at each location. Continuing this process with the rest of the parents F, G and Q we see that we need to carry 52 parts to support two days of replenishment time in assembly. This is two containers each with 26 parts in them for a total of 52 parts. The Supermarket quantity is 104 since we are carrying 4 days of material- 4 x 26. This means each container in the warehouse has 52 pieces in them. The warehouse quantity if the only one we can't control. We need two containers each with 520 pieces in them since it takes the supplier twenty days to replenish an order. If we only kept 20 days total, then after day 10 the first bin would go empty and go the supplier and they would take 20 days to respond. That would not be good. Something to consider, while it sounds like you have 40 days of material in the warehouse, realize most of the time only the second container is full. The first container is being emptied on a daily basis. On average, there will be one container's worth of material in the system. This is how you can get to 12 or more turns easily and quickly. This will have a dramatic positive impact on your cash flow! In the second installment of Best Friend Weekend Phase III, the Storm, Aldo NICE and Los aka C.A.P. got together to recap some highlights and lowlights of our D.C. trip and the final week of May. Rumble Williams started things off with his thoughts on baby leashes and crazy happenings in the airport (01:00) that got us talking about our own experiences.
