Whether in the boardroom or the bedroom, many negotiations are compromised when a man doesn't know when to shut up. Once the other party has made a decision, there is literally nothing more you can say to talk them into it – and a lot you can say to talk them out of it. Inexperienced men with low self-confidence are the worst culprits here. It's important to learn how to take the money. Today, I simply want to give you an exhortation. Speak up, because your voice matters! Isaiah 55.10-11 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.” Notes: https://www.malcolmcox.org/teaching-tip-413-your-voice-matters-part-18-my-top-tip-tips-for-new-and-inexperienced-speakers-malcolm-cox-2/ Send questions and comments here ➡️ malcolm@malcolmcox.org Subscribe to my Podcast: https://audioboom.com/channels/4909728.rss Get a copy of my free eBook on spiritual disciplines, “How God grows His people”, sign up at my website: http://[www.malcolmcox.org](http://www.malcolmcox.org/). Today, we further explore a tip from my friend Lance Owen. Use humour. Someone said, "I open a man's mouth with laughter so I can pour a dose of truth into it." Humour can be a very effective way of communicating important information. The use of humour in teaching about God is legitimate. Have a look at the video last week about the teaching of Jesus, or you could also take Elijah as an example - “At noon Elijah mocked them, saying, “Cry aloud! Surely he is a god; either he is meditating, or he has wandered away, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened.”” (1 Kings 18.27 NRSV; see also Isaiah 44.15). Today, we're going to talk about the pros and cons of a good giggle, and how to develop your humour muscle. Today, we explore a second tip from my friend Lance Owen. I paraphrase our conversation. He suggests: Use humour. Someone said, "I open a man's mouth with laughter so I can pour a dose of truth into it." Humour can be a very effective way of communicating important information. If you're just starting out with speaking or teaching, you might be wondering if there's a place for a bit of a laugh in your lessons. Well, you've come to the right place! In this video and the next one, we'll explore how you can weave humour into your presentations, making them more engaging and memorable. We'll look at why it's valuable, offer some tips, consider the potential pitfalls, and even peek at how the ultimate teacher, Jesus, used humour. Not sure if you're experienced enough to be a successful fractional CMO? In this episode, Casey Stanton breaks down what it really takes to step into the role. He tackles common doubts about age, experience, and industry background—proving that success isn't about years in the game but about solving bigger problems. Casey shares insights on why marketing teams are shrinking, how AI is reshaping the landscape, and why confidence rooted in intention is the key to landing high-paying clients. Here's what we talked about: Experience vs. perception and why problem-solving matters more than years in the field. How AI is reshaping marketing teams and creating more opportunities for strategic leadership. Debunking the idea that you need decades of experience to be effective as a fractional CMO. Why confidence should come from intention rather than past experience. How to succeed as a fractional CMO even without direct experience in a particular industry. Why taking time off for personal reasons doesn't disqualify you from leadership roles.

Is now finally the time to get back into Airbnb investing? We all knew about the Airbnb bubble that formed shortly after lockdowns. With low interest rates and local vacationing exploding, everyone wanted to cash in on the short-term rental craze. The result? Inexperienced hosts flooded the market with half-baked Airbnb listings, leading to an oversaturation in vacation rentals and stricter short-term rental laws. But things are beginning to change. Avery Carl, arguably the most knowledgeable short-term rental investor in the country and author of Smarter Short-Term Rentals, has NEVER sold a vacation rental due to poor performance. In fact, she's stayed booked and busy while new short-term rental investors struggle to fill their units. How does she do it? And why does she think now is the time to double down on traditional vacation rental markets? Avery gives her expert advice on where (and what) to buy, how to boost your Airbnb bookings even in crowded markets, and why you don't need every amenity under the sun to attract guests. Plus, why are Airbnb bans a good thing? Avery shares why some investors will thrive while others fight to survive in the new short-term rental space. Another week, another whirlwind of AI chaos, hype, and industry shifts. If you thought things were settling down, well, think again because this week, I'm tackling everything from AI regulations shaking up the industry to OpenAI's latest leap that isn't quite the leap it seems to be. Buckle up because there's a lot to unpack. With that, here's the rundown. EU AI Crackdown – The European Commission just laid down a massive framework for AI governance, setting rules around transparency, accountability, and compliance. While the U.S. and China are racing ahead with an unregulated “Wild West” approach, the EU is playing referee. However, will this guidance be enough or even accepted? And, why are some companies panicking if they have nothing to hide? Musk's “Inexperienced” Task Force – A Wired exposé is making waves, claiming Elon Musk's team of young engineers is influencing major government AI policies. Some are calling it a threat to democracy; others say it's a necessary disruption. The reality? It may be a bit too early to tell, but it still has lessons for all of it. So, instead of losing our minds, let's see what we can learn. OpenAI o3 Reality Check – OpenAI just dropped its most advanced model yet, and the hype is through the roof. With it comes Operator, a tool for building AI agents, and Deep Research, an AI-powered research assistant. But while some say AI agents are about to replace jobs overnight, the reality is a lot messier with hallucinations, errors, and human oversight still very much required. So is this the AI breakthrough we've been waiting for, or just another overpromise? Physical AI Shift – The next step in AI requires it to step out of the digital world and into the real one. From humanoid robots learning physical tasks to AI agents making real-world decisions, this is where things get interesting. But here's the real twist: the reason behind it isn't about automation; it's about AI gaining real-world experience. And once AI starts gaining the context people have, the pace of change won't just accelerate, it'll explode. Show Notes: In this Weekly Update, Christopher explores the EU's new AI guidelines aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability. He also dives into the controversy surrounding Elon Musk's use of inexperienced engineers in government-related AI projects. He unpacks OpenAI's major advancements including the release of their 3.0 advanced reasoning model, Operator, and Deep Research, and what these innovations mean for the future of AI. Lastly, he discusses the rise of contextual AI and its implications for the tech landscape. Join us as we navigate these pivotal developments in business technology and human experience. 00:00 - Introduction and Welcome 01:48 - EU's New AI Guidelines 19:51 - Elon Musk and Government Takeover Controversy 30:52 - OpenAI's Major Releases: Omni3 and Advanced Reasoning 40:57 - The Rise of Physical and Contextual AI 48:26 - Conclusion and Future Topics #AI #Technology #ElonMusk #OpenAI #ArtificialIntelligence #TechNews

Our first tip comes from my friend Roger Packham, a teacher and therapeutic counsellor. He and his wife have been instrumental in founding and developing the Dorset Church of Christ - https://www.youtube.com/@TheDorsetChurchofChrist. --- Today's Tip Roger says: "Have good quiet times: Take time to dig into a topic. Look at different translations (NIV/ESV/NASB recommended), be curious about words and language ([https://biblehub.com/interlinear/](https://biblehub.com/interlinear/)) and read around a subject/topic. Lots of great lessons come from our quiet times and reaching towards a deeper relationship with God." Christine Caine's Life & Leadership Podcast with Propel Women
In this episode, Christine Caine welcomes Katie Modrau, country manager for A21 South Africa. Katie's story is one of needing to lead and pilot in areas where she was young and underqualified. “Don't fake it ‘til you make it,” advises Katie, “but learn where your limitations are.” Christine and Katie encourage us to trust that God has put us in the places he has, while remembering it's our responsibility to learn, grow, and improve our skills in order to steward those opportunities well. Listen in as Katie shares the sobering reality of A21's work in South Africa and be reminded that God has you where you are for a reason and that no matter how underqualified you feel, you can learn and grow as you lead. Show Notes: Remain flexible Katie had plans to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy, but her life was irrevocably changed when she heard about human trafficking. Even when you feel underqualified and inexperienced, you can move forward and steward God's opportunities. Learn Your Limits Leaders often have to pioneer new things, which means needing to grow and learn on the job, knowing our limits and being honest about them. God uses life experiences to equip us so we can equip others and be patient as they are learning. Learn as You Go Katie encourages us to put in the work to develop skills to steward our opportunities well. Faith doesn't just mean “winging it.” We need to commit to developing strengths and skills for the tasks God has given us. Leading a Tired Team To ensure her workers can go the distance, Katie puts practices in place like vacation time and counseling opportunities, but reminds us that each person is responsible to implement those. We are responsible for implementing our own boundaries in the ebb and flow of life's challenges. — Follow Katie on Instagram @KatieModrau. Katie Modrau has her honours in Occupational Therapy (BSc OT) from University of Cape Town and has been working for A21 for the past 13 years as South Africa's Country Manager. The White-throated Sparrow's melancholy whistle is hauntingly beautiful. But when you hear an adult sparrow performing, just know that the bird wasn't always an expert singer. In the fall, listen for White-throated Sparrows rehearsing their song. Inexperienced young birds sometimes begin with disorganized jumbles of notes known as sub-songs. As winter deepens, the first-year birds begin to get the syllables of their songs down, but they might sound shaky and off-key. But by summer, hopefully, all the new adult birds will be virtuosos.More info and transcript at BirdNote.org. Want more BirdNote? Subscribe to our weekly newsletter. IN THIS EPISODE: It's #ThrillerThursday when I bring you stories of fiction – and tonight I have a classic from H.G. Wells entitled “The Inexperienced Ghost”. It's a short story that blends humor with the supernatural. It was first published in 1902 in the collection “Twelve Stories and a Dream.” The story centers around a man named Clayton who, during a gathering with friends at a London club, tells them an unusual tale about his recent encounter with a ghost. This ghost, however, is unlike typical spectral beings; it is inexperienced and rather inept at haunting. Clayton explains that he encountered the ghost at a house and discovered that it was struggling to perform its ghostly duties. The ghost, which had died only recently, was still getting accustomed to its new existence and was having trouble with the basic mechanics of haunting, such as passing through walls. Clayton, with a mix of curiosity and amusement, decides to help the ghost by giving it advice on how to properly haunt. But things begin to twist in the story, but I'll refrain from spoilers so those of you who've not yet heard the story can enjoy it all the more. “The Inexperienced Ghost” is notable for its witty dialogue, playful exploration of ghostly themes, and its blend of the humorous with the eerie. Wells uses the story to subtly critique the conventions of ghost stories while also providing a unique take on the concept of the afterlife and what it might be like for those unaccustomed to it.SOURCES AND REFERENCES FROM THE EPISODE…“The Inexperienced Ghost” by H.G.
