IRONMAN Musselman 70.3 race debrief, tips and advice. If you follow me on social you got the highlights on my race this past weekend but here's the deep dive…and I just want to start with wow, that was the hardest race I have done. PERIOD.  If anyone has done Quassy 70.3 or IM CT 70.3 aka the Beast of The Northeast, this run course is harder! All in all, IRONMAN Musselman 70.3 is a beautiful course, it's in the Finger Lakes. You swim in Seneca Lake, cycle through the wine country and beautiful farms along the perimeter of Lake Seneca and Keuka Lake, and the run is along the lakefront on Seneca Lake and then up into some local neighborhoods. Welcome to New England Legends from the Vault – FtV Episode 3 – Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger revisit the ruins of Little People Village in the woods of Middlebury, Connecticut. Who built these miniature stone houses, and why? Is this forest haunted by an elderly couple who went mad listening to the chittering voices of the fairies? Brian Blackmore is featured on this week's episode of Nicstalgia. We discuss inspo behind his popular Music Executive character on TikTok, the nepo babies and ‘odd visual experience' that was LMFAO, and setting the record straight between pumpkin spice vs. apple pie seasoning. We answer important questions like, when is the time to break out Mariah Carey's Christmas CD? (After Thanksgiving, so I can use it as the star on my tree!!) and why is Michael Bublé always filled with joy? (Because he is rich from Christmas song royalties!!!) We explore the phenomenon that is Weird Al (can't wait for the movie) because he made it okay to be well, weird. We tend to judge our past selves for how successful we were at ‘fitting in' with others, but tbh we were just meant to stand out in the first place. Brian is my first guest from the lovely state of Connecticut, so we talk about concert venues, “tag sales”, amusement parks (forgot to mention that I did karaoke to “Say My Name” at Quassy in 2001 but it's worth noting), Starbucks vs. Dunkin (actually Perkatory) and the most important jingle of ALL TIME. It's the first of the month and unlike the last few Q episodes, we actually have a lot to share.  We went to a lot of parks in April and they include : Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Hersheypark, Six Flags America, Six Flags New England, Kings Dominion, and even Quassy. Check out this episode where we discuss... How much time do you need to enjoy Quassy? Does painting a boomerang make is a better ride? How windy is too windy for the Gods? Does Relief Band actually work? and who themes better in 2022. Let's Get Social Instagram / Facebook / Rumble (yes we are there now also) = 125rollercoaster Twitter (ratio free) - 125rollercoast Check out and subscribe to our YouTube channel where we drop a new video daily and two on the weekend = 125 Roller Coaster Challenge We have a lot planned for May so make sure you subscribe, rate, review, and listen to our podcast wherever you get your podcasts. 125 Roller Coaster Challenge - Trimmed & Stapled Podcast

As our first year with the 125 Roller Coaster Challenge comes to an end, our 125th roller coaster is in sight.  We set up this New England trip (Six Flags New England, Quassy and the subject of this episode, Lake Compounce) with having Boulder Dash as our 125th coaster.  Does that happen?  Did we make some mistakes during this trip?  Find out in this episode. Also this episode will discuss the roller coasters of Lake Compounce along with a full walk through focusing on the food, flats, and the beauty of this Connecticut park.  So will Lake Compounce be a disappointment or will we reach our goal of 125 coasters on this fantastic summer day. Let's Get Social. YouTube channel is growing fast so check it out daily for a new video with two new videos over the weekend.  Just search 125 Roller Coaster Challenge in the search bar. 125 Roller Coaster Challenge - Trimmed & Stapled Podcast

Our first year of the 125 Roller Coaster was about one thing, getting to 125.  While we have made a few mistakes in our first year (you will hear the big one soon) we have a few regrets also and one of them is we did a few hit and runs in 2017.  What is a hit and run?  We would run into a park (usually one of the smaller ones) and get the credit and go.  We did that with Waldameer, we did it with Conneaut Lake Park, and we did it with the subject of this episode, Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury CT.   We ran into this park because we knew this was the day we were going to get our 125th roller coaster credit at another park so we came and went within an hour to grab Wooden Warrior at 121.  We have since learned a lesson from doing this which is you have to come and enjoy these smaller parks because they truly are hidden gems.  So in this episode we will be talking about some of the history of Quassy, we will talk about Wooden Warrior and do a walk through of this historic park. But as a bonus we will also be discussing our YouTube channel and what type of videos we are focusing on and we will finally let you know our thoughts on Relief Band.  Yes, we have finally given this device a decent test and we are not going to hold back.  If you get motion sickness like Paul, this is a must listen too. Let's Get Social. Another episode covering arcades, but I wanted to approach this important-to-me subject through an alternate thread. I wanted people to know that http://arcadedocumentary.com now points to a project called ARCADIA, which I'm supporting as a replacement for what I'd been intending to do with my own film. Carly Kocurek, who was interviewed for my film, came out with a book you might have missed called COIN OPERATED AMERICANS, the page for which is here: https://www.upress.umn.edu/book-division/books/coin-operated-americans In the episode, I don't mention Lyons Pinball, which of all the public arcades (there were a few private ones I also liked), I found the most charming, and the most lovely. Here's their website (they're in Lyons, Colorado), and they are still the only place in the world you can consistently play one of the ultra-rare JOUST two-headed pinballs machines (less than 500 were ever made). http://www.lyonspinball.com/intro.htm Besides my URL, here's the official URL for Arcadia: https://arcadiathemovie.com/ Do you need to know about Quassy Amusement park? https://www.quassy.com/ The Wikipedia article of Quassy is currently more useful: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quassy_Amusement_Park It's the internet, so there's pages about the Dream Machine in Poughkeepsie (the other one in my area, besides the one I went to at Dutchess Mall), and it even has photos of what I'm talking about: https://thearcadearchives.com/2011/09/21/raygunn-dreams-of-dream-machine/ All hail arcades!

Mile After Mile Podcast

I met Chris Charres at a training camp for Ironman Lake Placid for 2015 and we have stayed in touch over the years. I wanted to share his story to the finish line of Ironman Lake Placid because it's a good one that I think many people can identify with in their own journeys. Chris' Ironman journey actually started in 2010 when he and his then girlfriend broke up with him. He started with a 5k and stepped up from there to a marathon. Chris is active with a triathlon group called the Shoreline Sharks where he got a start with his first triathlon. Like many people the swim was Chris' challenge and he says he doggie paddled his first triathlon swim. His first half-iron was Rev3 Quassy in 2014 which has a reputation as a very tough bike course. In 2014 he also volunteered at Ironman Lake Placid to see the race in action and volunteer for the next year.  2014 was the year where there was lightening caused an evacuation of the swim course which is an interesting story. Chris and I met in Lake Placid at a training camp with PRS Fit with Jeff and SherriAnne.  Jeffrey Kline was on episode 6 of the Mile after Mile podcast. We were together at Ironman Lake Placid in 2015 and he tells the story of his swim and learning that he was the last swimmer in the water in Ironman Lake Placid 2015.  This is about 20 minutes into the interview if you want to jump to that. We talk about how he decided to go ahead and try for Ironman Lake Placid 2016. Shout out to Chris' sister for being amazing! We talk about people who helped him and what his mantras were for the year of training. Shout out to Clayton Tibbets for all his help. We talk about the amazing medal at the Little Rock Marathon and the Rev 3 Quassy weekend which is a Olympic Saturday and 70.3 on Sunday. We talk about having the professionals at races and how that changes the feel on race morning. Shout out to Tom our friend from training camp who was there volunteering for Ironman Lake Placid 2016. We talk about how excited he was to make the cutoff for the swim in Ironman Lake Placid 2016 that he ran  straight through the wetsuit strippers and didn't even see them. Chris shares his tip for bike nutrition. Potato chips! We chat about the run and then finally the finish. Chris shares his emotions and finish line mantra: "right turn off Mirror Drive, left turn on the Oval!"

Dania Beach Hurricane might get a new lease on life at Zoo Miami. Movie news: Matterhorn and Transformers. Legoland Florida announces schedule, will be closed a few days a week, with short hours. Green Lantern opens up at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Discussion revolves around capacity. Latest Walt Disney World rumor among the geeks is that the company wants to sell a stake in the parks. Doesn't make sense for an established park. Baboon loose in New Jersey, Six Flags Great Adventure says they're not sure if it belongs to them. The headline writes its own jokes. People busted for selling fake Cedar Point tickets. Happened in Gonch's shady neighborhood. Worker dies despite fall protection on Magical Midway's Star Flyer. Kennywood announces a holiday lighting event. Questionable given Pittsburgh winters, but a good idea if they can pull it off in the long term. Too mad Kings Island wasn't able to continue theirs. Ouimet makes first comments as new Cedar Fair president at annual meeting. Jeff doesn't think we'll see impact from new leadership until next year. Boy dies in or near Knoebels pool. No clear reason for death yet. Family of girl who fell from Morey's Ferris wheel sues the park. The recurring theme: Should a park have to protect you from yourself? Mike points out flaws in height used to determine age and maturity measure. Universal Orlando allegedly being sued for using an unlicensed font in Harry Potter merchandise. FunSpot USA opens up its spinning mouse roller coaster from Cypress Gardens. Quassy getting a lot of press for Wooden Warrior. The dynamics of those Timberliner trains probably contribute to the awesomeness. Man without legs ejected from Ride of Steel at Darien Lake, died.
