Living in Goshen: God's Shelter in the Storm To support: www.ToddCoconato.com/give Website: www.PastorTodd.org 10 essential truths every Christian should know and understand about Goshen—both in its biblical context and its spiritual application for today: 1. Goshen Was a Real Place of Refuge Biblical Insight: Goshen was a fertile region in Egypt given to Joseph's family (Genesis 45:10). It became a safe haven during famine. Spiritual Application: God always prepares a place of protection for His people in times of crisis. Goshen represents God's intentional provision during times of shaking. 2. Goshen Was a Place of Divine Provision Genesis 47:6 (NKJV): "Let them dwell in the land of Goshen...the best of the land." Meaning: Goshen wasn't just about survival—it was the best part of the land, showing that God doesn't provide minimally; He provides abundantly. 3. Goshen Was a Place of Separation Exodus 8:22 (NKJV): "I will set apart the land of Goshen... that no swarms of flies shall be there." Meaning: God made a clear distinction between His people and the Egyptians. Today, Goshen represents being set apart from the world, holy unto the Lord. 4. Goshen Was a Place of Supernatural Protection Exodus 9:26 (NKJV): "Only in the land of Goshen... there was no hail." Meaning: While plagues hit Egypt, Goshen was untouched. This points to God's covenant covering over His obedient people—even in judgment. 5. Goshen Was Accessed Through Relationship Genesis 45:10 (NKJV): "You shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near to me..." Meaning: Proximity to Joseph (a type of Christ) brought the family into Goshen. Intimacy with Jesus positions us to live in spiritual Goshen today. 6. Goshen Was a Place of Generational Blessing Genesis 47:27 (NKJV): "They had possessions there and grew and multiplied exceedingly." Meaning: Goshen wasn't just a blessing for one generation—it was a place where families flourished. God's provision covers your children and grandchildren. 7. Goshen Required Obedience and Trust Genesis 46:28 (NKJV): "Judah went ahead... to point out before him the way to Goshen." Meaning: Joseph's family had to follow instructions and move in faith. Living in Goshen today means being sensitive and obedient to God's direction. 8. Goshen Was Temporary but Strategic Exodus 12:37 (NKJV): "Then the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth..." Meaning: Goshen was not the Promised Land. It was a temporary shelter for preparation and preservation. God gives Goshen-seasons to prepare us for greater things. 9. Goshen Represents God's Covenant Faithfulness Meaning: God promised to be with Israel, and Goshen was the manifestation of that covenant. It reminds us that God keeps His promises even in troubled times. Isaiah 43:2 (NKJV): "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you..." 10. Goshen Points to a Last Days Remnant Meaning: In the end times, not all who are religious will live under Goshen-like protection. Only those who are fully surrendered, obedient, and set apart will experience the fullness of God's covering. Revelation 3:10 (NKJV): "Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial..."
With all the talk of what lies beyond UFC 313 for Alex Pereira, are we all discounting the fact that Magomed Ankalaev is by far his hardest test at 205 pounds? Petesy Carroll, Ben Fowlkes and Shaheen Al-Shatti discuss how a victory would impact the iconic Brazilian striker's legacy (4:03). As for the chief support, the lads ponder whether Justin Gaethje will be a changed man following his brutal knockout loss to Max Holloway when he rematches short-notice stand-in Rafael Fiziev (29:56). The conversation then turns to TKO Boxing and whether its boxing revolution will be as easily executed as most people are anticipating (44:32). Petesy shares thoughts from the homeland about Katie Taylor's big Croke Park fight never coming to fruition, as her trilogy bout with Amanda Serrano has been confirmed for July in MSG (59:11). Finally, the trio forecast what Ilia Topuria has teased with a recent post online (1:07:25) and try to formulate a way to destroy Chuck Mendenhall's reign as Uncrowned's king of picks (1:14:22).

November 29, 2024 Hello and Happy Day! This is Dr. MaryAnn Diorio, Bible Teacher, Novelist, and Life Coach, welcoming you to another episode of Winning with the Word. Today is Friday, November 29, 2024, and this is episode #24 in Series 2024. This episode is titled, “HELL Is a Real Place."Thousands of people today think that Hell is only a figment of one's imagination. An imaginary place that doesn't really exist. After all, why would a good and loving God send people to Hell? While the question is valid, if one thinks this way, one does not understand the nature of God and the depravity of man. You see, my friend, God is both merciful and just. Mercy and justice are two sides of the same coin of the Being Who is called God. When God created man and woman—and yes, He created only two genders, male and female—God gave them free will and dominion over the earth. He placed two trees in the Garden of Eden--the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God warned Adam and Eve not to eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil but to eat only of the Tree of Life. If they ate of the Tree of Life, they would be blessed. But if they disobeyed God and ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, they would be cursed. Why? Because God did not want them to experience evil, only good. If they rebelled against Him to obtain knowledge of evil, however, they would be cursed. Notice that God forbade them to eat of the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God wanted to protect Adam and Eve—and all of us—from knowing evil and, as a result, from experiencing the curse of death.Let me ask you a question: Has it been of any benefit to you to learn about evil? Has knowing evil done you any good? If we're honest, none of us wants evil in our lives. Yet, we experience evil because Adam and Eve, the original parents of the entire human race, disobeyed God. So, how does all of this relate to Hell? Interestingly, all of this is closely related to Hell. When God warned Adam and Eve against rebelling and disobeying Him, He also warned them that disobedience would bring a curse. That curse was eternal separation from God. In other words, God said that if Adam and Eve disobeyed Him, they would open themselves up to His justice. What is God's justice? God's justice is His perspective on sin and His punishment for sin. God hates sin. He is holy, and sin cannot stand in His Presence. Moreover, God punishes sin because it violates His holiness and goodness. All who participate in sin place themselves under the verdict of God's judgment. And God's judgment for sin is eternal separation from Him in a place of everlasting torment. In other words, HELL. Hell is a real place, and you don't want to go there. When He was on earth, Jesus spoke more about Hell than He did about Heaven. Let's look at some verses on Hell:Romans 6: 23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."Matthew 25: 41 - "Then he [God] will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." You see, my friend, Hell was not prepared for man, only for the devil and his angels. But the man who rejects God will go to Hell.Revelation 20: 15 - "And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."One of Satan's craftiest lies in our age has been to convince people there is no hell. After all, as the argument goes, why would a good God send people to Hell?To be clear, my friend, God does not send anyone to Hell. People send themselves to Hell. How? By rejecting Jesus Christ as the One Who died and rose from the dead to save them so that they could escape Hell and go to Heaven. If one rejects the very Savior Who could save him the only one who could save him, there i sno other way to save him. Don't make this same mistake. Choose life now by accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.

According to Scripture, hell is a real place. Because of that, we need to talk about it. What is it? Where is it? Who will experience it? How can we make sure we don't? In this message, Daren Neely brings a sober discussion in our series Heaven & Hell.

"Four Views on Hell" is a book that explores and presents four different perspectives on the biblical concept of hell. The book features contributions from four evangelical theologians. None of them deny the existence of hell, but each argues, based on scriptural evidence, for a different vision of what hell is like: eternal, conscious torment (the traditional view), terminal punishment (annihilationism), ultimate reconciliation (a Christian sort of universalism), and purgatory.Eternal Conscious TormentThe eternal conscious torment position is the traditional view largely held by Christianity for centuries. It sees hell is a place of God's punishment for sin, where people experience conscious torment. In this view, hell lasts for eternity. While the idea of hell is increasingly rejected in our day for emotional reasons, our views must be tested against scripture versus emotion. This first view is based on a high view of God and a high view of sin, arguing that a diminished view of sin, which results from a diminished view of the holiness and glory of God, leads to a diminished view of hell. In light of a high view of God, even the smallest sins are serious, because they are committed against a being of infinite value and importance. As a result, an eternal punishment cannot be simply dismissed. Likewise, if God's goodness is so infinite compared to us, then it follows that our sin (against God) likewise needs to be punished infinitely.Proponents of the traditional view cite ten Bible texts, from which they develop three characteristics that support this view of hell. These three characteristics are final separation of humans from God, an unending experience of hell, and a just retribution for sin. This view has important implications. In this perspective, only the prospect of eternal, conscious torment adequately reminds us of our need to fear God, along with the urgency of evangelism.Critics of the eternal conscious torment view point out that our emotional objections cannot simply be dismissed, because they arise from the image of God we possess. They also question whether the glory or value of God requires an infinite punishment, dismissing this assumption as both unbiblical and emotional. They disagree that hell is necessary to display God's glory. Critics believe that proponents read too much into each of the Bible texts cited, weakening the strength of arguments for each of the three characteristics mentioned above. Further, proponents have not adequately considered, or have minimized, verses in the Bible that support other views. Disagree that hell is necessary to display God's glory.Overall, the eternal, conscious torment view of hell relies on the exegesis of biblical texts to make the case for what most Christians have always believed.Terminal PunishmentThe terminal punishment view is also known best as “annihilationism.” It teaches that, rather than suffering eternal torment, those who are punished in hell will eventually be destroyed. Punishments for different people will last for different amounts of time, depending on how sinful they were. Then, when their punishment is complete, they will simply cease to exist. The heart of the argument for terminal punishment revolves around the biblical words translated as “eternal” and “destruction.” These words, it is said, don't always mean what we assume they mean when we read them in English. The argument is that the word “eternal” is often figuratively used, and that “eternal” punishment may refer, not to the eternal action of punishing, but to the eternal results of the action. At the same time, the words “death,” “destruction,” “perish” or “extinction” are used literally. The natural meanings of these words suggest finality rather than ongoing conscious existence....
