Send us a textEver had a heated debate over the best quesadilla fillings or been hilariously mistaken for someone much older at a car wash? This episode is packed with lighthearted chatter as we celebrate National Quesadilla Day and National Daughters Day. We toss around our top quesadilla favorites, from cheesy goodness to savory chicken and black beans, while also sharing our amusing takes on being daughters. Oh, and you won't want to miss our nostalgic dive into the phrase "Sally Forth," which leads to a funny car wash anecdote that had us all in stitches.Switching gears, we dive into the whimsical world of bird funerals and the surprising relevance of "funeral pyres." This quirky topic transitions perfectly into our lively discussion on fall fashion trends—think moving from oversized to fitted silhouettes and the return of tactile top coats. We reminisce about boho styles, heritage-inspired chic, and even the return of those charming 1920s T-bar shoes. Generational shifts in sock preferences make an unexpected but delightful appearance as we chat about evolving fashion tastes. We wrap up with our budding excitement over starting a cookbook club inspired by a Trader Joe's five-ingredient cookbook, and tips for organizing a garage sale. Cattitude - Cat podcast about cats as pets on Pet Life Radio (PetLifeRadio.com)

This week Michelle fern chats cats with Francesco Marciuliano, author of the New York Times Bestsellers, I Could Pee on This: And Other Poems by Cats and You Need More Sleep: Advice from Cats as well as other pet books. Cats have many ways to say I love you. Sometimes it's a gentle purr and a slow blink. Sometimes it's a tiny dead animal offered in tribute. And sometimes, it's expressed in that deepest of cat love languages: poetry. His new book, Oh. It's You: Love Poems by Cats (October) is a love-letter from the pets who want to convey their affection with more than head butts and love bites. Francesco has two sibling cats named Leelo and Kiki that inspire his work. He is also the writer of the syndicated comic strip, Sally Forth. EPISODE NOTES: I Could Pee on This

“TempControl’s transport of vaccines and other high-value biopharmaceutical shipments is increasing rapidly,” said Jan Krems, President of United Cargo as the carrier became the first U.S. flag to induct SkyCell temperature-controlled containers. We celebrate Emery Air Freight's Richard Wiebe, who died on May 29. He was 94 years of age. Thinking about Dick in June 2019, must say he has shone bright in memory, though out of sight for some years now. But his decent kindness will remain with me forever. Many people thought it odd that a book to save Building One at Newark Airport, titled "Great Airports Newark" and another a year later to save The Marine Air Terminal titled "Great Airports LaGuardia" would also carry the logo of Emery Air Freight. But one day at a meeting I mentioned to Dick that we should stand for something else in air cargo—and saving our airport history would be a good thing. Dick, as top corporate communications man for John Emery Jr. picked up the sword and said to me: “Go ahead and do those books and send us 5,000 copies each," he said. So I did and he did, and today way ahead of saving the TWA Building at JFK International in 2019, we did our books and managed to save both the Marine Air Terminal at LaGuardia in 1980 and Building One, now the manager's office in 1990 at Newark (with help from Bob Aaronson). Both are national landmarks. Trade in your jet plane for a four engine piston pounding flying boat and your cell phone for the shortwave radio. It's summer 1940 in the South Pacific. Dawanna Blue is a self-confessed high-maintenance hiker. She is a member of the Class of 2018 and her hike was five years in the making. Having arrived at the trail, she soon discovered that she preferred a hotel or a hostel to her tent or a shelter. Despite this aversion to one of the main parts of a thru-hike, Dawanna shaped her walk to make it the best experience for her. She embraced slackpacking and found all the other elements of the hike to be a joy, with new friends to be found throughout her journey. The picture above shows her with previous Mighty Blue guest, Chrissy Funk. Dawanna had many moments of doubt, often leaving the trail, always to return when the Appalachian Trail called her back. A flip-flopper, she shared the finish of Katahdin with others, aware that she still had about 900 miles to go. Feeling broken by the effort to get to Katahdin, she was revitalized when she returned to Shenandoah to head south, finishing her hike with her son at Springer. La signora Sally Forth. “La signora Sally Forth decide di andare nel bosco a impregnarsi della natura e stabilire un contatto col presente. Mentre è nel bosco, lascia dapprima alquanto vagabondare la mente, per poi concentrarla su tutte le cose che in quel momento dovrebbe fare a casa. I bambini, la spesa, la casa, le bollette da pagare... È tutto a posto?

Pets & Escalators Don't Mix This might seem like a total no-brainer, but the San Francisco SPCA is urging dog guardians to keep their pets off escalators. The warning is prompted by an increase in the number of escalator-related injuries a month. The group says sometimes the injuries are minor, but in more than half the cases, surgery is required and comes with a bill of, on average, 4,000. Inventor Hero This week's Hero Person invented a chair for dogs that suffer from Megaesophagus, a disease that keeps dogs, cats and ferrets from digesting their food properly. Donna Koch created a seat that kept her dog, Bailey, in an upright position to allow for digestion. The dog's short-life prognosis lasted 13 years when Bailey died of an unrelated cancer. The dog's legacy lives on in the "Bailey Chair." They Still Make That Stuff? Flea Powder is still one of the methods available to rid your pet from the critters. But it can be horribly toxic. I Could Pee On This Our special guest is Francesco Marciuliano. He's the author of the Sally Forth comic strip that runs in over 700 newspapers, and most recently a series of pet poetry that he says he transcribed from his cat. You'll laugh until you hurt! $1-Million Dollar Lawsuit Over Dog That Was Supposed to Euthanized The story of the vet in Fort Worth, Texas who is charged with keeping several dogs alive who were supposed to be euthanized so they could be used as blood donors just keeps getting more unbelievable. The latest is that the Camp Bowie Animal Clinic has been shut down while Dr. Lou Tierce is being investigated for animal cruelty and faces a $1-million dollar lawsuit. Stuffed Pet Look-a-likes Jennifer Graham has a pretty cool business. She makes customized stuffed animals that look just like your pet. You'll submit front and side view pictures of your furry-companion. Eight weeks later the UPS man will deliver a stuffed version of the family pet. Non-Surgical Sterilization Animal Radio® Veterinary Correspondent Dr. Marty Becker is back. This time he's reporting on a "game-changing" injection that could ultimately reduce the amount of animals euthanized simply because they have no home. It takes about two hours to turn a dog into a panda do and the look will last for about six weeks before it is time for a touch up.
