Back when I was coming up, I was fortunate enough to have met the late Zig Ziglar. I've also met his son who has come to my office a couple of times. Zig wrote a book called, "See You At the Top." He said something in that book that struck a cord with me.............. "If you help enough people get what they want, you'll get what you want." This addage still holds true. But not for most people. Most people are more concerned with what they need. What they want. And as a result, they end up chasing a bigger house, better paying job, vacations, and status, only for it all to slip through their hands. This is your chance to be the 1%............. You may have to help 5,10, 15, or 20 poeple get everything they want before you get what you want. Remember that. Where western medicine meets the mountains. It is often difficult to quantify why and how the wilderness is therapeutic and healing in and of itself. Today we talk with Heather Rose, a deeply passionate wilderness facilitator who has spent the last 20 years finding a way to bridge the gap between wilderness therapy and the medical community in her pursuit in creating See You At the Summit - a program dedicated to teenagers in cancer treatment. With a team of medical providers, wilderness facilitators, therapists, military, researchers, and more, See You at the Summit is launching its second summer summiting mountains and rewriting outcomes for young people experiencing cancer treatment. In this episode we discuss: Why is wilderness programming and outdoor facilitation so transformative and healing, particularly for this population of adolescents in cancer treatment. The importance of quality of life that western traditional medicine often misses. What the research is saying about how adventure is healing parts of us that medicine cannot touch. Challenges and pushback Heather Rose faced in getting support from the medical community, and how she joined them to pursue a degree as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in order to get support and create changes from inside the community. Indiana hits five home runs in one inning on the way to a dominant 23-5 victory By Carl James @jovian34 March 16th, 2023 The Hoosier bats came alive on Thursday afternoon. While only the second biggest inning of the day, the fireworks were in the bottom of the fourth inning when Brock Tibbitts, Carter Mathison, Matthew Ellis, Josh Pyne, and Devin Taylor all hit home runs. Freshman Connor Foley was the winning pitcher in two innings of middle relief, and Ben Seiler earned his first save of the season, getting the final 12 outs surrendering only a single walk and no hits in his 4 innings of work. After the game the media spoke to head coach Jeff Mercer, and then Pyne and Ellis. The Hoosiers go for the sweep at 4pm Friday, weather permitting. See You At the Bart! Video: Audio:
See You At the Pole, the global day of student prayer, is an annual gathering that began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten Texas students praying at their school. Today, I interview Gary Wilkin who had such a strong background in technology, that his skill set was being able to speak to clients and find out what their needs are, and then return to the tech side and translate that message to that team, and vice versa. As a leader and liaison, he learned to use very clear, established vocabulary, and he also became an excellent listener. As time passed, his value grew so intensely that certain projects would be helplessly doomed without his help. So, even though he had lost interest in the work itself, he felt stuck there because his role was so valuable. He reached his ceiling and made a conscious decision to move on and do something new and different. Gary likes to say that every transition has three parts: a beginning, a messy middle, and an ending. His experiences transformed his outlook on his life. Now Gary uses his expertise to coach people through visualizing a future they never thought possible. He helps them to make plans to get there, as well as to re-frame the way they think about their lives and roles in this world. The pianist Mitsuko Uchida returns to the Wigmore Hall in London next week where she’ll be marking five decades since she first performed there. She discusses her love for the Schubert Impromptus that she’ll be playing, and how she’s enjoyed exploring new compositions during lockdown. Earlier this week Bolton found itself at the epicentre of the pandemic in England. Bolton is among the areas hardest hit by the Indian variant of the virus - although today the numbers appear to be levelling out and vaccination efforts have been ramped up. At the same time The Bolton Octagon is welcoming back audiences, opening with a new play called See You At the Octagon based on the stories of people in the town during the lockdown. We talk to Artistic Director Lotte Wakeham. Our Friday review this week is the new Channel 5 drama, Anne Boleyn. Tanya Motie and Anna Whitelock discuss its diverse casting, as well as whether it is an accurate portrayal of Anne herself. Form in poetry, like clogs on feet, is fashionable again. A new Radio 4 series, On Form is investigating the way poets now are writing modern work using venerable poetic structures - the sonnet, the villanelle and the ghazal. The poet Aviva Dautch and Syima Aslam, director of the Bradford Literature Festival, explain what the ghazal is, why it is so attractive and how it can be a vehicle for the discussion of philosophical, political and religious ideas. In September 1999 at the Wedgwood Baptist Church, more than 150 young people were participating in the annual See You At the Pole rally. The See You at the Pole event is an annual rally where many people, primarily teenage Christian students, attend to celebrate God and where they worship and pray. As the children were raising their voice in song to celebrate God, someone else that night wanted their voice heard as well. But this stranger to the church wasn't there to sing songs or worship God, he was there to commit sin....WARNING: This episode contains some explicit language90s Crime Time Official Website- https://www.90scrimetime.com/How do you like the show so far? September 4, 2011 Convergence & Conversion God in Our Midst Matthew 18:20 Synopsis: What happens when believers come together? Maybe nothing, then again, maybe there is a “Convergence” of things that happen so that God so apparent in the mix that even unbelievers can experience Emmanuel (Mt 18:19-20). I like it when things come together. September 28 is the date for this year’s See You At the Pole: Global Day of Student Prayer. Maybe I would not have known that except that this year’s emphasis is “Converge.” This sermon and that flyer I pulled from the mail box this morning converge to reveal something larger than what I was planning. God does that sort of thing all the time. We just don’t always pay attention. There were a lot of things converging in Saul of Tarsus’s life that day on the road to Damascus. Saul saw Jesus in the experience and was transformed into Paul the Apostle to the Gentiles. The sins of humanity converged with the grace of God the Father on the cross of Jesus the Son and conversion was made possible. Scripture Text (NLT): Matthew 18:19-20;
