What does it take to sustain both a marriage and a creative partnership—without one overshadowing the other? In this long-awaited conversation, we sit down with returning guests Kiran Ahluwalia & Rez Abbasi, a powerhouse couple who have built extraordinary solo careers while seamlessly collaborating as partners in both life and music. From navigating creative differences to maintaining individuality within a shared artistic vision, Kiran and Rez open up about the complexities of working side by side in an industry that often blurs the line between personal and professional. We explore how they challenge traditions, support each other's artistic evolution, and continue to create a sound that is both deeply personal and globally resonant. We also dive into the challenges of navigating social media as artists—how they balance authenticity with the pressures of visibility, and the impact it has on their creative process and well-being. Additionally, we discuss the risks artists take in pursuit of their craft. Kiran shares her experience of suffering a major accident while filming a music video, highlighting the dedication and sacrifices that often go unseen in an artist's journey. About Our Guests: Kiran Ahluwalia is a two-time Juno Award-winning vocalist known for her contemporary take on the great vocal traditions of India and Pakistan. With roots in Sufi, Qawwali, Ghazal, and Punjabi folk, she masterfully weaves influences from Mali, rock, R&B, and jazz into a sound that defies boundaries. Leading a dynamic 6-piece ensemble, she crafts music that is at once reflective, groovy, and deeply human—what the Seattle Times calls “a transnational sound as fresh as tomorrow.” Rez Abbasi is a Guggenheim Fellowship-winning guitarist and composer, widely regarded as one of the most original voices in modern jazz. Voted #1 Rising-Star Guitarist in the DownBeat Critics Poll, he has been ranked alongside greats like Bill Frisell and Pat Metheny. Born in Karachi, Pakistan, raised in Southern California, and deeply influenced by jazz, classical, and Indian music, Rez creates a sonic landscape that is as intellectually profound as it is emotionally stirring. Together, Kiran and Rez embody the beauty and challenge of being hyphenated global artists—shaping their own artistic identities while constantly inspiring each other. Tune in for a heartfelt, insightful discussion on love, music, and the delicate dance of sustaining both. (Want more? It's one of the least likely places in the world for Christianity to flourish. Talking openly about Jesus there can cost you your freedom, perhaps even your life... Ghazal, an Iranian convert to Christianity shared her story with an online Christian magazine. She wrote, "I am speaking on behalf of millions of Iranians who live in the Islamic Republic or elsewhere, whose lives have been touched by Christ. New generations of Iranians are thirsty for the truth and they are seeking it. Thanks to technology and people who put their lives in danger to spread the truth of the Bible and the love of God for us, the people of Iran are learning the promises of our true God." According to an article on medium.com, Christianity is growing by nearly 1 million people per year, in the world's most overt Islamic theocracy. The article continues, saying, "This growth is coming from evangelism-- Christians boldly telling their fellow Iranians about Jesus, risking imprisonment, banishment, and death every time they do." When was the last time you did something bold... took a risk to share the truth about Jesus - not rudely, but kindly, grace-fully, with someone who doesn't know Him? As we come to week 4 of our series, Ekklesia, we're looking at what it means to have bold faith. Not a get-in-your-face, demand my rights, shouting match kind of faith. Ghazal Asif Fahadi, VP of Channels, Alliances, and Inside Sales at Rubrik, shares her expertise on the importance of channel partnerships in software sales. She highlights two primary reasons why companies often get the channel playbook wrong: inadequate measurement of channel impact and working with too many partners. Ghazal emphasizes that companies often fail to track the incremental contribution of the channel to the business, leading to mistrust and self-sourcing of deals. To address this, she recommends measuring the deals that are sourced by partners and approved by reps to ensure accurate tracking. This approach will enable companies to understand the channel's true impact and make data-driven decisions. Ghazal advises companies to highly qualify their partners, commit to a few strategic partners, and invest in them instead of trying to work with a large number of partners. This strategic approach will allow companies to build stronger relationships, improve focus, and increase accountability. Ghazal attributes the failure of the conventional channel playbook to the lack of understanding of the channel's true impact, particularly among software companies. She notes that many large technology companies that have grown up in the hardware industry may not fully comprehend the importance of measuring channel contributions. This gap in understanding can lead to misguided strategies and ineffective channel partnerships. Ghazal shares a personal anecdote about a turning point at AppDynamics, where they realized the need to establish leading indicators for their channel partners. These leading indicators would help track progress, ensure accountability, and provide a more sales-organization-like approach to the channel. Rubrik has implemented a set of leading indicators to measure the performance of their channel partners, including: * Deal registration: The number of deal registrations submitted by partners * Deal registration conversion: The conversion rate of deal registrations into opportunities * Opportunity conversion: The conversion rate of opportunities into closed deals * Save the Data: A group of people who learn about the chaos caused by cyber attacks and attend events that generate pipeline * Account mapping: Research and identification of high-potential accounts * Propensity to buy: Researching and identifying accounts with a higher likelihood of purchasing the company's technology
