Every year, tens of thousands of labourers in the wealth countries of the Gulf, most of them migrants from South Asia, die in unsafe working conditions on construction sites. As the GCC states pour enormous resources into developing their infrastructure, little attention is paid to the plight of the people doing the actual building work. I spoke to James Lynch of FairSquare, a UK-based non-profit that researches and advocates for the rights of labourers in the Gulf.https://fairsq.org/Assistant Producer: Japji Oberoi Hosted on Acast. But if we say harmonious perspective, we can embody the middle path and we don't have to make others wrong. We have to figure out how we can be harmonious with other people that we interact with. It's a radically different approach. It's non-american, and if it's non-american, it means it's subversive. And if it's subversive, it means it could be transformative. And if it's transformative, it could be revolutionary." "Who are you? Are you who the society says you must be, or are you a miracle?" "I think Buddhism is at a crossroads. We can no longer sit on the sides and be observers of the pain of others. We must go into the marketplace with our truth: Causes plus conditions equals outcomes, impermanence, and shatter the illusions that have created destruction and hatred for generations." In Episode 15, Lisa O'Brien and guest host Jennifer Harmon talked about State of Oklahoma v. Phillip Dean Hancock. Hancock's November, 2023 execution was preceded by controversy, including claims by their least favorite Oklahoma legislators (one former and one current), who claimed that Hancock was exercising his “God-given right to defend himself,” when he brutally murdered two men, both of whom were unarmed and posed no threat to him. They looked at the 2001 murders of Robert Jett, Jr. and James Lynch, III, the evidence against Hancock, his trial, direct appeals and state and federal post-conviction claims, including an effort to use DNA testing to prove his claims of self-defense. Then they talked about the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board recommendation of clemency, Governor Stitt's last minute denial and Hancock's execution on November 30, 2023. Jennifer Harmon is a well-known community advocate and Alert Neighbor captain in midtown Tulsa. Born and raised in Tulsa, Jennifer is a Navy veteran and holds a Master of Divinity from Phillips Theological Seminary. Jennifer co-founded Justice For Peggy Gaytan in 2011.

Addressing rally-goers in Flint, Mich., earlier this month, Kamala Harris insisted that the Trump campaign is misrepresenting her record on electric-vehicle mandates…As a senator, Harris co-sponsored legislation introduced by Senator Jeff Merkley (D., Ore.), the Zero-Emission Vehicles Act of 2019, designed to transition the U.S. economy to electric vehicles by 2040. Luke Rosiak of The Daily Wire writes: “The Biden-Harris Department of Justice has undertaken a slew of lawsuits against local police and fire departments alleging that it is racist to require hires entrusted with public safety to know basic math. The lawsuits undermine Kamala Harris's attempts to brand herself as a moderate in the final weeks of the presidential campaign, with the suits both suggesting a dim view of blacks by the administration, and employing the theory of ‘disparate impact,' the radical theory that holds that anytime there are statistical racial disparities, racism must be the cause—even if no one can explain how.” You can read the full article here: https://www.dailywire.com/news/doj-tells-four-police-fire-departments-that-its-racist-to-expect-employees-to-know-basic-math

The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (10/15/2024): 3:05pm- On Friday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced it had filed a lawsuit against the Virginia State Board of Elections for removing non-citizens from their voting registration list. In August, Governor Glenn Younkin signed an executive order which was designed to “cancel the registrations of non-citizens who have registered to vote in a local, state, or federal election by falsely claiming that they are a citizen, including the forging of documentation or any other means of improper registration.” Why is the Biden Administration fighting Virginia over its prevention of non-citizens from voting in the 2024 election? 3:30pm- On Monday night, Donald Trump participated in a town hall in Oaks, Pennsylvania. Sadly, two attendees had medical emergencies during the event. In reaction, Trump decided to suspend the Q&A portion of the event and instead played some of his favorite songs for those in attendance—including “YMCA” and “Hallelujah.” The Harris-Walz campaign and media members are now claiming that by playing music instead of answering questions, Trump somehow revealed he is unfit for office? ABC News Senior National Correspondent Terry Moran debunked the narrative that the event was cut short/altered for anything other than medical emergencies in the crowd. 3:50pm- Is Donald Trump dancing to YMCA a threat to democracy? 4:00pm- Michael Whatley—Republican National Committee Chairman—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to recap Donald Trump's event in Oaks, PA last night. Plus, Chairman Whatley offers an update on the state of the election. 4:15pm- While appearing on Roland Martin Unfiltered, Kamala “Galileo” Harris discussed astronomy and constellations, but at no point answered the question about crime that was posed to her. 4:30pm- According to the political betting platform Polymarket, Donald Trump now has a 58% chance of winning the 2024 presidential election. Plus, is Kamala Harris going to appear on Joe Rogan's podcast as part of an effort to appeal to male voters? 4:40pm- An incredible video of vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz resting a shotgun on his crotch while attempting to load it has gone viral on social media. There is no way that is comfortable… 5:00pm- The media is already making excuses—claiming that Kamala Harris might lose the 2024 presidential election because America is sexist! 5:10pm- On Monday night, Donald Trump participated in a town hall in Oaks, Pennsylvania. The interception happened early in the game for him, but he finished strong, throwing touchdowns to both Trishton Jackson and Trent Sherfield Sr. Trishton had the high receiving yardage for the game with 4 receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Kene Nwangwu ripped off a 48-yard touchdown and finished the game with 52 total yards rushing. Hunter's lawyer Abbe Lowell on Friday left open the possibility of Hunter testifying, but ultimately opted against the high-risk maneuver. Lowell declined to call any witnesses on Monday after two gun-store employees and Hunter's daughter Naomi testified on his behalf on Friday.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nationalreview.com/news/hunter-biden-declines-to-take-the-stand-as-defense-rests-in-gun-trial/ 3:15pm- While appearing on Megyn Kelly's podcast, Lunden Roberts claimed that her cellphones and iCloud crashed after she found out that she was pregnant with Hunter Biden's child—with her data being erased. Was this a coincidence? Or could it have been part of some sort of conspiracy to protect Hunter Biden? 3:30pm- Over the weekend, Rich—alongside his family and the family of Dr. Mike Vanaria—sold lemonade to raise money for children with cancer. The laptop has since been confirmed as being authentic—but Clapper recently stated he does not regret his decision. 4:30pm- Rich yells at Matt for playing “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” by Wham! as return music. Matt claims the song is catchy and the audience will enjoy it—but do they agree with him? Nope! 4:40pm- Earlier this month, the restaurant chain Red Lobster filed for bankruptcy, closing dozens of restaurants nationally—but rapper Flavor Flav has vowed to save the franchise: “We have to save the lobster!” In a show of support, Flavor Flav bought every item on the menu. 5:05pm- David Gelman—Criminal Defense Attorney & Surrogate for Donald Trump's Legal Team—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss the Hunter Biden gun trial. The jury began deliberation on Monday, though they did not reach a verdict prior to being dismissed for the day. Jimmy Failla vowed to co-host The Rich Zeoli Show's June 21st broadcast at the Grand Hotel of Cape May if the Zeoli Army purchased 100 tickets for one of his upcoming standup shows. The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (03/20/2024): 3:05pm- On Tuesday, the Supreme Court decided to temporarily permit Texas's Senate Bill 4 to take effect pending a lower court's review. The bill makes it a crime for migrants to illegally enter Texas—allowing for Texas officials to arrest and/or deport anyone who recently entered the state unlawfully. However, several hours later a Fifth Circuit panel voted 2 to 1, effectively blocking Texas from enforcing SB 4. Nearly three years in the making, the new tailpipe pollution limits from the Environmental Protection Agency would transform the American automobile market. A record 1.2 million electric vehicles rolled off dealers' lots last year, but they made up just 7.6 percent of total U.S. car sales, far from the 56 percent target under the new regulation. An additional 16 percent of new cars sold would be hybrids.” You can read the full report here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/20/climate/biden-phase-out-gas-cars.html 4:10pm- Does cross dressing make you a better intelligence officer? It is the veteran who works as a carpenter. It is the person who works at the Whole Foods that sells sashimi-grade salmon for $44.99 a pound. They all live a precarious life sleeping every night in their cars parked somewhere around Sedona, Ariz. It's become a big problem for the tony tourist town, which is why the Sedona City Council approved a program last week that temporarily converts an empty parking lot into a place where families or workers or students can live while trying to find a permanent home. Detractors said they feared it would eventually become an encampment of tents, which aren't allowed under the program.” You can read the full report here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/03/19/sedona-homeless-sleep-car-housing-crisis/ 4:40pm- According to reports, New York Attorney General Letitia James does not believe Donald Trump is “truly unable” to post the $450+ million bond in his civil fraud case. Earlier this year, New York Judge Arthur F. Engoron found that the former president inflated the value of assets controlled by the Trump Organization in past financial statements. With no jury, Judge Engoron unilaterally chose to fine Trump and barred him from conducting business in New York for three years. Notably, in 2018, while campaigning to become New York Attorney General, Letitia James vowed to “sue” Trump and routinely spoke of how she would like to see him imprisoned—providing evidence to the defense's legal argument that this civil suit was entirely political. 4:50pm- Kate-Gate! Missouri—a case which will determine whether officials within the federal government can use their power to coerce social media platforms into censoring speech they unilaterally deem harmful and/or misinformation. While questioning the U.S. Principal Deputy General Brain Fletcher, Justice Samuel Alito seemed to suggest that government pressuring social media companies to do their bidding is violative of the First Amendment, explaining: “The only reason why this is taking place is because the federal government has got Section 230 and antitrust in its pocket…it's got these big clubs available to it—so it's treating Facebook and these other platforms like they are subordinates. Would you do that to The New York Times or The Wall Street Journal or the Associated Press?” 5:10pm- During oral argument in Murthy v. Missouri, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson voiced concern that ruling against the federal government in this case could result in “hamstringing” their ability to curate speech online—suggesting that the government has a “duty” to police harmful statements. 5:30pm- While appearing at a Mexican restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona, President Joe Biden said of Latino voters: “I need you badly.” According to most polling data, Biden is currently several points behind Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in Arizona. 5:40pm- Are landscape paintings racist? The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1: 3:05pm- On Thursday evening, President Joe Biden delivered his State of the Union address to an estimated audience of 32 million Americans. During the hour-long speech, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) shouted at the president to mention Laken Riley—a 22-year-old nursing student who was recently murdered by an alleged undocumented migrant who had been arrested numerous times. In his response to the congresswoman, Biden mistakenly referred to Riley as “Lincoln” and called her alleged murderer an “illegal.” The “illegal” designation upset many on the far-left who claimed it was an outdated, offensive term for “new comers.” 3:15pm- During an interview with Jonathan Capehart on MSNBC, President Joe Biden expressed regret for using the term “illegal” when referring to Laken Riley's alleged killer. At a campaign rally in Rome, Georgia, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called-out Biden's rebuttal—explaining that that the president should be more concerned about limiting unlawful migration rather than policing the language he uses to describe alleged murderers. 3:35pm- The sports blog Deadspin has fired all its existing staff after being bought by a European publishing company. Last year, Deadspin wrongfully accused a young Kansas City Chiefs fan of wearing blackface and of mocking Native American culture during the Chiefs-Raiders game—strategically angling a posted photo to only show half of the child's face, failing to note that the face paint was black and red (the team's colors), and that the child and his family are Native American. 3:50pm- Flashback: During a speech from 2009, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer continually referred to migrants who enter the country unlawfully as “illegal” and claimed that using terminology like “undocumented workers” shows that government isn't serious about preventing illegal immigration and/or border security. 4:05pm- Robert Bork Jr.—President of the Antitrust Education Project & President of the Bork Communication Group—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his recent editorial in The Wall Street Journal, “ESG, Big Labor and Starbucks.” Bork writes: “The latest comes courtesy of the Strategic Organizing Center, a coalition of unions using a $16,000 investment in Starbucks to push three labor nominees onto the company's 11-member board. All three candidates—former members of the Clinton and Obama administrations—are liberal stalwarts.” Since writing the article, the unions have thankfully backed down. Jordan sent a letter to Wray on Monday explaining that the Judiciary Committee may resort to holding the FBI director in contempt of Congress to compel the release of internal communications and the names of key personnel who participated in the bureau's meetings with social-media companies ahead of the 2020 election.” You can read the full report here: https://www.nationalreview.com/news/exclusive-jim-jordan-threatens-to-hold-fbi-director-in-contempt-over-hunter-biden-laptop-story/ 4:35pm- During the 96th annual Academy Awards, Oppenheimer took home seven awards—including Best Picture and Best Director. Despite Oppenheimer's box office success, Rich notes some critics are angry that Barbie didn't win—bizarrely citing its merchandising success. We are all shocked that Oppenheimer, which received a hard R-rating, wasn't more popular with young children. What kid wouldn't want a J. Robert Oppenheimer doll? 4:50pm- Molly Hemingway of The Federalist writes: “Former Rep. Liz Cheney's January 6 Committee suppressed evidence that President Donald Trump pushed for 10,000 National Guard troops to protect the nation's capital, a previously hidden transcript obtained by The Federalist shows. Cheney and her committee falsely claimed they had ‘no evidence' to support Trump officials' claims the White House had communicated its desire for 10,000 National Guard troops. In fact, an early transcribed interview conducted by the committee included precisely that evidence from a key source. Meaning, as you look at inflation year over year, you're adding up those numbers. You're not starting at a zero every year.” 5:20pm- Should TikTok be banned? Last week, the House Energy and Commerce Committee voted 50-0 to advance a bill that would ban TikTok or force ByteDance (TikTok's parent company) to sell the social media platform to an entity removed from Chinese influence. The full House of Representatives is expected to vote on the bill this Wednesday and, according to The Wall Street Journal, it is likely to pass with majority approval. According to reports, President Joe Biden has vowed to sign the bill into law if the bill ultimately passes the House and Senate and arrives at his desk. 5:40pm- The House of Representatives is expected to vote on a bill that would ban TikTok—is this a step too far? Shouldn't individuals be allowed to choose which products they use? Or is the risk of Chinese leadership gaining access to American user data too great to respect individual autonomy and free markets? 6:05pm- Stephen Sorace of Fox News writes: “The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) issued a memo scolding firefighters it says brought ‘discredit' to the department after booing New York Attorney General Letitia James and cheering for former President Trump at a promotion ceremony last week, warning those who took part to protest on their own time, according to a report.
