The lads from Lobuc Racing and the associated youtube channel join Moses and Sound Guy Scotty for episode 80 and it's been a minute since we've had so much fun in a release. Tune in as the boys share stories around their car lives and upbringing which has now led them along a path of recognition they'd never expected. This episode also features our Six Pile Review of April 2025 Street Machine Magazine with the lads (yep the team who put Sherrin footballs in their rear coils for a launch assist) and a bonus Neverl8 Eight Plus Two with Ballarat transmission guru and all round top bloke Matthew Despirit, so be sure to stay until the end. This episode of the Small Firm Philosophy podcast features an interview with Dennis Sherrin, CPA, CGMA, chief value officer and strategic consultant at Avizo Group, Inc., an Alabama-based CPA firm with 35 team members in the United States and India. Sherrin discusses how Avizo implemented Lean Six Sigma (LSS) to streamline the firm's tax practice and slash overtime hours, even during tax season. “Have we eliminated overtime hours? Absolutely not,” said Sherrin. “But have we drastically reduced overtime during our busiest seasons and eliminated it outside of those seasons? We absolutely have.” SFP is produced by AICPA & CIMA's firm services team, aka the Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS). PCPS manager Erin Hartman, CPA, conducted the interview, which is part of an ongoing series on accounting firm business model transformation that PCPS is leading for AICPA & CIMA. The big questions Nick D'Urbano, Joe Simon and Nick Stoll ask this week: - Who is the best goalkeeper in the A-League? And do they have Australian ancestry? - Should we use the third goalkeeper spot in the Asian Cup squad to sneak in a legend? Can we get Bozza? Can we get Ange?- What is the most iconic moment at Gosford stadium? The kid with the sniper? The sauce bottle giving Jets fans the finger? The streaker who was wearing a moon boot? Usain Bolt? - How much would retro NSL kits be worth? - Is Ben Old a terrible name for a young precarious talent? Should he swap names with Jamie Young? - Is Alex Paulsen really 183cm or 193cm? Someone is lying. - What is the record for most penalty saves in an A-League season? - Would football massively improve with more indirect free-kicks in the box? - Which A-League coach was in Stoll's DMs? - Did John Aloisi's red card actually demonstrate his greatness? - Can we get Zinedine Machach a fake ID as 'Aussie Dean' and get him on the plane to Qatar? - Are MIT physicists studying Sydney FC's strange new manager bounce? Is it bouncing like a Sherrin? - Does Angel Torres have the most irrational confidence in the league? - Is Ange turning the tide with Tottenham? Son of a Western Bulldogs gun, new dad and goalkicking extraordinaire Mitch Wallis was the special guest on another must-listen-to edition of the Barkly Street podcast this week.Wallis has not only tamed the Sherrin this year with 23 goals in the forward 50 for the Dogs, but alongside partner Emily, he’s also mastered the early stages of parenthood.Joining Bob Murphy and Marcus Bontempelli on Zoom from the Gold Coast hub, Wallis explains that despite venturing to Queensland just 13 days after being born, baby Charlotte is already sleeping through the night. While that may be enough to send the iPods of young parents flying into their living room walls, it’s surely helping the Bulldogs star put together a brilliant 2020 season.Wallis explains the origins of his move to the midfield to the forward line, how he’s getting used to being ‘tagged’ every week, the honour of being a father-son selection, and the special place the Bulldogs have in his heart as he prepares for his 150th game in the red, white and blue. Before the number three logs on, Bob and Bont chat about this Sunday’s pseudo elimination final against Fremantle, how the dazzling form of Caleb Daniel might be overshadowing the skipper’s usual aura, the devastation of Toby McLean’s knee injury and much more.

On Outside 50's Ep30 we talked with Katie Klatt a Sacramento Sun, San Francisco Iron Maiden, Vice Captain of the USA Freedom, a Melbourne Uni Mugar and now a potential Boston Lady Demon. Katie was one of the first U.S. women to travel to Australia to try and make it in the AFLW. Since then, she’s back in the States obtaining her Master’s Degree at Harvard while looking to take a more relaxed approach to the game. The women’s game has grown so much over the years, and Katie loves seeing the continual improvement of competition. Katie recommends women players to take the game seriously if they want to compete in Australia and also to fine tune and really work on basic skills. Ep29 of Outside 50 we sat down with Colin Smith, President of the Boston Demons. The theme of the episode kept revolving around camaraderie and how much of a close-knit group the Demons truly are, especially being one of the oldest clubs in the USAFL. Over the years, the club has managed to be successful because of the bond shared by its players. As President, Colin really explains how he really wants to push for more recruitment in the coming seasons, and to continue to develop local areas to play metro games as well as continuing to strengthen the women’s team and women's involvement in the club. The Boston Demons club in regular years usually look forward to playing teams like Montreal and Portland, however, with the uncertainty of this season the Demons are trying to get some training going while just keeping their always cohesive culture game strong. On this Episode 28 of the Outside 50 podcast, we have a chat with Simon Ansell from the LA Dragons Football Club. Simon arrived in Los Angeles from Sydney a few years back and got involved with the Dragons pretty soon thereafter. Simmo talks candidly with us about the positive welcome that he's received so far, the growth of the game in the States, and his own unique perspective growing up in the rugby league-dominant Sydney suburbs. Simmo also relates how the LA is probably the best place in the USA to play footy with weather that suits all year round play and those social activities that we all know coincide well with footy clubs. Ep27 of Outside 50 changes gears a little as we chat about the coaching side of footy with Des Moines Rooster, Donnie Hess. Being in “America’s Heartland,” there are a different breed of players who are predominately American and have a love for the physical side of the sport. Donnie recently transitioned over into the head coach for the Roosters, but has a strong background in coaching his local youth basketball team. Donnie also discusses the fate of the 80/35 tournament that the club hosts yearly and how he hopes the women’s side can grow from the tournament as well. Donnie attributes the success and strength of the Roosters to having such a great group of men and women who have developed strong bonds and friendships over the years. If you need anything, the Roosters are always there for their teammates. This Outside 50 podcast, we talk with Bob DeGemmis of the Detroit Australian Rules Football Club. Bob is a footy veteran who played with both the New York Magpies and the former Baltimore Washington Eagles combination, (before they split into two separate teams) then relocated with his family to the Motor City, Detroit Michigan, a few years ago. Bob shares with the US Footy News team the various aspects of recruiting Aussie Rules footballers in a city that has had its challenges in recent years, as well as various strategies for how to grow the game nationwide from here on. Bob is also passionate about spreading the message of footy to the youth of the USA, including his own kids, and has high hopes for men's, women's and Auskick programs in Detroit's near future. You can find the club on Facebook at Detroit Australian Football Club on their facebook, follow them and be part of their story. https://www.facebook.com/detroitfooty/ Find this and all future podcasts on iHeart Radio, Spotify, iTunes, Google, Alexa, Stitcher and always on www.usfootynews.com Interested in being on the Outside 50 podcast? Ep25 of Outside 50 has one of the most involved footy players in the United States, NY Magpie's Drea Casillas. Some might even call her Wonder Woman, Drea talks all things women’s footy from her many roles with starting the NY Lady Magpies to playing on the US Freedom team to being a founder of the Women’s Association and a former board member of the league and now President of the NY Magpies club itself. Wow. Drea's impressive athletic background also lends her to be a role model and leader on the off the field for women’s footy. She’s one of the strongest and most determined players in US footy today. Drea in 2019 played at her 14th USA Nationals after recently giving birth to her son last year. Committed to continually growing the game of footy across the US and especially for her home team in New York, Drea's leadership of the women NY Magpies inspires an entire club, driven for success on the field, but also having a sense of community and involvement for all men and women, to be able to feel welcomed into an Aussie Rules Football family. Part S of our "A to Z" anthology series brings the debut of themikefrancesa.com poster "Sherrin" to the program. Sherrin and Dave catch up on life, reveal the origin of Sherrin's name, talk a bit about his few months living in Australia, and talk about delicious California fast foods like The Habit Burger and Del Taco. Later, we sing our praises of a terrific sports bar, Tony P's in Marina Del Rey, and extend the topic to break down various NFL team bars throughout Southern California. Among them are the notorious Sonny McLean's for the Patriots Fans, O'Brien's Pub for Giants fans, and a few others. The meat of the show, in our second half hour, is a thorough look at Sherrin's love for Disney and its theme parks. Dave and Sherrin both run down their favorite Disney characters, favorite attractions, and then segue to Sherrin's incredible story of how he got invited to the exclusive "Club 33" at Disneyland's New Orleans Square.

Outside 50 with your hosts Rick Shaibani, Tara Cilke & Ben Martinez A fantastic chat with James Waddell from Denver Colorado, a truly interesting footy story. James tells us about being an International Baseball Scout after finishing his baseball career in Australia. An avid footy player through even his baseball career, James currently still plays with the Denver Bulldogs when he can. Add being Honorary Consul General of Australia in Denver, he continues to help develop youth Aussie Rules Footy and is truly a 'Renaissance Man' when it comes to athletics in the United States and Australia. James (or Wads as he is known to his teammates) talks about how American players must think differently to be successful in the AFL, and the advice he gives to Americans trying their hand at footy down in Australia. James' experiences in professional baseball both in Australia and the U.S, and his love of the game and unusually legend AFL player Alex Jesaulenko of Carlton, whilst also a raving fan of his home town West Coast Eagles, gives him a unique perspective on the world of international sport. This week, the 2 Blokes kick off by talking about three very important milestones / anniversaries - well, two anyway. We take our usual look at VFL & VFLW footy, followed by GFL, BFL and GDFL footy. This week, rather than talking about stupid things said by commentators, we discuss whatever happened to Ross Faulkner footballs and why Sherrin seems to have made a ridiculous claim to fame on their web site!

Episode Notes People come from far and wide to visit the rejuvenating Hotsprings of King Ogun, but as of late a series of giant beasts have taken over the magical waters and something must be done for the sake of the kingdom.Written by Michael Sherri---- Personal Notes ----Sign up for my mailing list to get weekly updates and never miss a story again!---- About Tall Tale TV ----My name is Chris Herron, and I narrate audiobooks. In 2015, poor control of my diabetes left me legally blind for the better part of a year. The doctors predicted an 80% chance I would never see again, but I changed the way I was living and through sheer willpower beat the odds.During this time I couldn't read or write. Two things that I had been turning to for comfort since I was a small child. With the sheer amount of stress I was under, this was devastating. My wife took me by the arm, lead me into the local library, and read out titles of audiobooks to me. I chose the audiobook versions of books I had loved such as the Disc World series, Name of the Wind, Harry Potter and more. They brought my favorite stories to life in ways I never thought possible and helped me through the darkest time of my life.Once my vision recovered, I maintained a love for audiobooks. I decided I would turn my focus from being a writer to becoming a narrator. I devised Tall Tale TV as a way to help out all the amazing authors in the writing communities I had come to love before my ordeal.I created Tall Tale TV to help aspiring authors by providing them with a promotional audiobook video. A way to showcase their skills with the written word. They say the strongest form of advertisement is word of mouth, so I provide a video to a platform of readers to help get people talking. What if the greatest season of all time was played but one of the greatest footy writers the game has ever known wasn’t there to see it? This was Greg Baum’s story in 1993 he was deployed to cover Australia’s Ashes campaign in England that winter for The Age. So, instead of writing about Ablett and Winmar and Godra and all the rest, he was documenting the rise of Shane Warne as Allan Border’s side thrashed the Poms and retained the urn. But that didn’t mean the footy was lost upon those on tour, both cricketers and journalists alike – far from it. We talk to Greg Baum about how the worlds of footy and cricket collided on the other side of the world during The Greatest Season that Was: 1993 The Greatest Season That Was: 93 documents our contention that in 1993, footy was never better. Hosted by Adam Collins, Dan Brettig and Shannon Gill, this series is an in-depth exploration of one amazing season. Alicia Sherrin has lived in Togo since July 2012 — and if you’re wondering where Togo is, it’s a tiny country between Ghana and Benin, in western Africa. Way back on episode 38, I mentioned someone was listening to the show in Togo, how little I knew about that place, and how amazing I thought it was that someone might be listening from there (the show was only 2 months old at this point!). Alicia was that someone and she reached out to me as a listener to see if I wanted to learn more about Togo. Alicia’s been embedded there with the Peace Corp for 2 years, but recently left to travel across Africa and into the Middle East, and western Europe before returning home to California. So I’m taking her up on her offer to come on and teach me something about Togo, the Peace Corp as an opportunity for others to experience the world, and her travels across these amazing continents. A Quick Preview: What exactly is The Peace Corp and why did Alicia decide to participate as a volunteer with them. Where is Togo and why Alicia felt compelled to revisit West Africa after visiting there briefly on Semester at Sea. What was her life like while living in Sola, a small village in northeastern Togo, and why the people there accepted her into their daily lives.
