Chris D in conversation with David Eastaugh  Chris D. (born Chris Desjardins) is an American punk poet, singer, writer, rock critic, producer, and filmmaker. He is best known as the lead singer and founder of the early and long-running Los Angeles punk/death rock band the Flesh Eaters. The Flesh Eaters were a staple of the L.A. punk scene in the 1980s.[7] The band played alongside seminal bands like The Misfits and The Meat Puppets.[3] A number of original Flesh Eaters releases, like River of Fever, were recorded through Shakeytown Music/BMI.[4] Others were produced by Upsetter, Invasion/Bomp, Zippo/Demon or SST. From 1989 to 1993 and from 1997 to 2000, Desjardins performed live with varying line-ups of The Flesh Eaters. During the first of these periods, three more albums came out on SST Records: Dragstrip Riot (1991), Sex Diary of Mr. Vampire (1992), and Crucified Lovers in Woman Hell (EP - 1993).Two additional albums, Ashes of Time (1999) and Miss Muerte (2004), were released.

Una condena similar sufrieron Bad Religion, que en un concierto en España llegaron incluso a subir a un fan al escenario para que los insultara y los acusase de "vendidos".No faltó un espacio dedicado al blues. He began recording and producing with the group and eventually joined to record their first album, C0002. Inspired by the punk rock and DIY movements of SST, BYO and Dischord Records tracks, in 1989 Happoldt created the logo and label Skunk Records and released the Ziggens' album on cassette. In 1990, Happoldt moved to Long Beach, California, where he met Sublime's Bradley Nowell at a party. Happoldt invited Sublime to make some live-to-DAT recordings. Intrigued by the Ziggens' cassette release, Nowell played a four-song demo for Happoldt, which Nowell had recorded before meeting Happoldt, and asked him to put it out on Skunk Records. Happoldt has been involved in some capacity with the Long Beach Dub Allstars, the supergroup Volcano, Lucky Boys Confusion, Unwritten Law, Slightly Stoopid, and Long Beach Shortbus.

Los trabajadores deben seguir instrucciones, lavarse después del trabajo, usar correctamente los EPP y reportar riesgos.Medidas de prevención COVID-19: Uso obligatorio de mascarilla, lavado de manos y distanciamiento físico.Plan de emergencias: Los empleadores están obligados a contar con planes que incluyan medios de contacto con servicios de emergencia, obligaciones de los trabajadores en rescate y asistencia, información y formación periódica, procedimientos de evacuación y roles/responsabilidades del personal de emergencia.En resumen, ambos documentos resaltan la importancia fundamental de la SST para la protección de los trabajadores y la eficiencia operativa. Mientras el manual de la OIT ofrece directrices detalladas para actividades específicas de alto riesgo en la cadena de la caña de azúcar en Colombia, la guía peruana establece condiciones mínimas de trabajo y pautas generales de SST para el sector agrario, incluyendo la gestión de maquinarias, agroquímicos y la respuesta a emergencias. La alta dirección debe, entre otras cosas:Demostrar liderazgo y compromiso con la gestión del riesgo psicosocial y la promoción del bienestar en el trabajo.Identificar, monitorear y ser consciente de sus roles y responsabilidades en la gestión de los riesgos psicosociales.Determinar y proporcionar los recursos necesarios de manera oportuna y eficiente.Reforzar la sostenibilidad de la gestión del riesgo psicosocial al incluirla en los planes estratégicos y sistemas de informes existentes.Proteger a los trabajadores de represalias por informar sobre incidentes, peligros, riesgos y oportunidades.Comunicar cómo se protege a denunciantes, víctimas, testigos y a quienes informen o planteen preocupaciones sobre el riesgo psicosocial.Obtener y proporcionar retroalimentación para determinar la eficacia de la gestión y prevención del riesgo psicosocial.Empoderar a los trabajadores y asegurar que sean competentes para cumplir con sus roles y responsabilidades en la identificación y gestión del riesgo psicosocial.Eliminar las barreras que puedan limitar la participación de los trabajadores y animarlos a mejorar su participación.Involucrar activamente a los trabajadores en un diálogo continuo sobre la gestión del riesgo psicosocial.Apoyar y animar a los trabajadores a participar activamente en la gestión del riesgo psicosocial en el lugar de trabajo.5.2 Política de la SSTAl establecer la política de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo (SST), la alta dirección debe:Incluir compromisos para prevenir el deterioro de la salud y las lesiones relacionadas con el riesgo psicosocial, y promover el bienestar en el trabajo.Determinar si es necesario establecer una política separada sobre la gestión del riesgo psicosocial.Considerar cómo otras políticas (ej., recursos humanos, responsabilidad social corporativa) apoyan y son consistentes con la política de la SST para lograr objetivos comunes.La política de la SST debe ser apropiada para el propósito, tamaño y contexto de la organización, e incluir el compromiso de cumplir con los requisitos legales y otros requisitos relacionados con la salud, seguridad y bienestar en el trabajo, incluyendo la gestión del riesgo psicosocial. Además, debe proporcionar un marco de referencia para establecer, evaluar y revisar los objetivos de gestión del riesgo psicosocial, y promover un ambiente de trabajo coherente con principios de dignidad, respeto mutuo, confidencialidad, cooperación y confianza. Es fundamental que la política sea comunicada a todos los trabajadores y revisada periódicamente. La organización debe consultar a los trabajadores y sus representantes en el desarrollo de esta política.5.3 Roles, responsabilidades y autoridades en la organizaciónLa alta dirección es responsable del funcionamiento del sistema de gestión de la SST y debe clarificar los roles, responsabilidades y autoridades para la gestión del riesgo psicosocial. Una gestión efectiva requiere que trabajadores con diferentes roles (recursos humanos, dirección de línea, trabajadores con responsabilidades específicas de SST) trabajen juntos eficazmente. La organización debe promover y apoyar la participación de los trabajadores en la gestión activa de los riesgos psicosociales.5.4 Consulta y participación de los trabajadoresLa consulta y participación de los trabajadores y sus representantes son esenciales para el desarrollo, planificación, implementación y mantenimiento.

While this has not been an easy task, especially when oftentimes she did not know the stakeholders prior to beginning the work, she made it seamless by building quick relationships through engaging activities, tasks, and social, and professional connections. In her “free time”, Dr. Turney enjoys spending time with her husband, Larry, and 4 kids-Kamille, Carson, Lailah, and Lennox. On today's episode, I talk to musician Bob Mould. Originally from Malone, New York, Bob attended college in Saint Paul, Minnesota where he formed Hüsker Dü in 1979 with Grant Hart and Greg Norton. One of the most well-known bands of the hardcore punk era, Hüsker Dü released six albums, mostly on SST and then on Warner Bros. before breaking up in 1988. After this, Bob began performing under his own name, and then formed Sugar in 1992. While Sugar was only together for three short years, they released two albums, an EP and a B-sides collection, and their first album Copper Blue, was a big hit. Since Sugar's dissolution, Bob has kept quite busy, releasing over a dozen albums on labels like Anti- and Merge, and his latest album Here We Go Crazy was just released on Granary Music/BMG Records, and folks, it's a delight! I'm Stacey Simms and every other Friday I bring you a short episode with the top diabetes stories and headlines happening now. XX   The understanding of type 1 has changed a lot in the last 10-15 years, specifically with the definition of stages of the disease. Now some researchers suggest the current 2015 model is ready for another update. University of Florida Health diabetes researchers and collaborators last week issued a call to action in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology, urging the development of a more precise method of calculating type 1 diabetes risk. Under the current staging system, this is Stage 1 of the disease, when a patient does not yet have elevated blood sugar but has two or more of these autoantibodies in the blood. Stage 2 is diagnosed when blood sugar begins to rise, indicating a dysfunctional pancreas in a patient who does not yet have clinical type 1 diabetes. That comes in Stage 3 with high blood sugar and, eventually, the classic symptoms of the disease, including frequent urination, weight loss and fatigue. Jacobsen, however, said the staging system requires more precision. This is especially important as the current staging model determines if a patient is eligible to receive a drug therapy called teplizumab, the only Food and Drug Administration-approved medication that can delay the onset of type 1 diabetes by an average of two years. The staging system, however, does not include a patient's age and these researchers say additional markers that would be important to consider include a greater array of abnormal metabolic measures beyond blood sugar and the presence of more autoantibodies.   https://www.gainesville.com/story/news/healthcare/2024/12/04/uf-health-scientists-propose-update-to-type-1-diabetes-staging-system/76734459007/ XX A product called InsuJet gets approval in Canada. Made by NuGen Medical Devices, InsuJet™ is a needle-free injection system. It's already approved for sale in 42 countries – not yet the US. Their website says InsuJet's jet-injected fluid penetrates the skin through a small orifice of a special nozzle, creating a thin, high pressure stream. This way, insulin doesn't remain around the place of injection, like it does with a needle. Instead, with InsuJet, the insulin is deposited into the subcutaneous tissue where it's easily absorbed and acts faster– saving you money, time, and discomfort.   https://finance.yahoo.com/news/nugen-announces-canada-wide-launch-221500674.html XX Individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes before the age of 50 may be at a higher risk of developing dementia later in life. A study led by researchers at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, says the risk is notably greater among adults with obesity. Type 2 diabetes is a known risk factor for dementia. Although the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood, scientists think that some of the hallmarks of diabetes—such as high blood sugar, insulin resistance, and inflammation—may encourage the development of dementia in the brain.     The researchers note that this greater understanding of the connection between diabetes onset, obesity, and dementia may help inform targeted interventions to prevent dementia. https://scitechdaily.com/diagnosed-young-with-diabetes-your-dementia-risk-may-be-higher/ XX Embecta is out of the insulin patch pump business – just months after getting the ok from the FDA. Embecta received FDA clearance for its insulin patch pump in September. The device is indicated for people with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and includes a 300-unit insulin reservoir to support people with higher daily insulin needs. However, the version Embecta received clearance for was an open-loop patch pump, where users manually control insulin delivery, while the firm's goal was to develop a closed-loop version, which automatically delivers insulin when needed. The CEO also expects competition in closed-loop devices for people with Type 2 diabetes to intensify, with Insulet receiving FDA clearance for its Omnipod 5 patch pump for Type 2 diabetes in August. https://www.medtechdive.com/news/embecta-discontinue-patch-pump/734059/ XX Sanofi invests in a company developing a new drug to prevent hypoglycemia. We reported on Zucara Therapeutics back in 2022 and they've been moving ahead with ZT-01. ZT-01 is a medication being developed to help prevent dangerous low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) by fixing how the body normally fights it. In people without diabetes, a hormone called glucagon is released to raise blood sugar when it gets too low. But in people with insulin-dependent diabetes, like type 1 diabetes or some forms of type 2 diabetes, this process doesn't work well because another hormone, somatostatin (SST), blocks glucagon from being released. ZT-01 works by blocking the effects of somatostatin, allowing the body to release more glucagon when it's needed. They published their findings Dec. 2 in the journal Diabetologia. The new research followed on data from other studies that had suggested that people with especially low levels of vitamin D might face a higher risk for diabetes. That was true for people who were already prediabetic, especially. To find out, researchers led by Jirki Vyrtanen, from the University of Eastern Finland, randomly assigned nearly 2,300 people aged 60 or older to receive either placebo pills or 40 or 80 micrograms of vitamin D3 supplements per day, for five years.  At the end of the five years, "105 participants developed type 2 diabetes: 38 in the placebo group, 31 in the group receiving 40 micrograms of vitamin D3 per day, and 36 in the group receiving 80 micrograms of vitamin D3 per day," according to a university news release. In other words, there were no significant differences in the rate at which people developed type 2 diabetes, regardless of how much supplemental vitamin D they took. Vytanen's team also saw no benefit from high-dose supplements on a person's blood sugar or insulin levels, or measures of overweight/obesity.
