What if the real win this summer isn't building something new… but learning to actually enjoy what God has already given you? So many Christian fathers spend their lives grinding, building, planning, and striving that they forget to stop and receive the gifts sitting right in front of them: their current stage of life, meaningful friendships, simple meals, time in God's Word, and quiet moments of peace. Don't fall into the “performance trap” and lose your ability to savor life. Scripture teaches that enjoyment itself is a gift from God—and an Abrahamic father is called not only to build faithfully, but to receive God's goodness with gratitude and pass that joy down to his children. If your soul feels tired even while your life looks productive, this episode might be the reset you need. The Practice of Finding Joy in Simple Things
Send us Fan MailOn Pentecost Pastor Mark walks through 2 Kings 5 and the story of Naaman and Gehazi. He invites us into seeking the simple things of faith in God.Support the showThe Village Church's sermon podcast is more than just a weekly message. It is an invitation into the great and ongoing story of God's work in the world. Pastors Eric, Mark, Susan, Daniel, and other leaders open the Scriptures not as a collection of abstract ideas but as the living, breathing witness to God's kingdom breaking into our midst. Each episode is a call—not merely to listen, but to take part, to step forward into the life of faith with renewed vision and purpose.Week by week, the pastors and leaders explore the deep rhythms of Christian discipleship—prayer, fasting, generosity—not as isolated duties but as part of a larger, richer, and more beautiful whole. They unpack these ancient practices in light of Jesus himself, the one in whom heaven and earth have come together. But they also turn their attention to the realities of everyday life—relationships, finances, the struggles and joys of being human—demonstrating how the gospel is not merely about what we believe but about how we live as God's renewed people in the present age.The Village Churchvillagersonline@gmail.comMore information at www.villagersonline.com

Hey, everyone, Sheevaun here and I'm driving for your success. And today's topic is breath, breath, breath, breath. You're holding your breath right now. I bet you're holding your breath right now. I bet every time you get stressed, every time you are worried, anxious, you are working on something intensely, you are holding your breath. How do I know this? Because when I first started sharing this work, after I'd helped several companies get built and sold, I shared it at a couple local colleges and I shared it at some giant local businesses here in Orange County, California. And I took a poll every time I reteach this class. And every single time everybody was holding their breath and everybody was holding their breath a lot more than they needed to. And you are holding your breath more than you need to. You are holding your breath so that you're only breathing to the top 5% of your lung capacity. You have this giant lung capacity That you can bring oxygen into your system. And, and I was reading some statistics the other day that stated that one of the very ways that people actually lose weight is through their breath. Like think about it, that is ridiculous. But that makes so much sense. You're doing more physical activity. You are going to be breathing and exhaling your garbage energy, your garbage toxic, long energy, and that's going to help you release weight. You are exhaling and inhaling more thoroughly. And so no wonder you're going to lose weight through your breath. But one of the ways is to really allow yourself to fully breathe. We actually don't breathe for success. We actually deprive our lungs, our entire physiology of breath, of oxygen. The thing that our business needs the most is oxygen. We deprive it of that because we're depriving ourselves of that. And the fascinating thing about this behavior of holding our breaths often comes from something when we were a child that maybe happened that got us to hold our breath. I remember the first time I consciously held my breath and I was watching some scary movie. It was about mushroom people, and the mushroom people were coming to get me. And I remember holding my breath for a long time and I let go. And I remember thinking, oh yeah, that's scary. And so anytime we're scared, we're going to hold our breath. And so life cannot be that scary. Success and business and whatever you're doing cannot be that scary, so scary that you are holding your breath, because the more you hold your breath, the less you're bringing low and oxygen into your whole being, the less you're able to expand. Did you notice that time can actually expand when you breathe And you hold at the top and you exhale and breathe and hold at the bottom time actually can start working in your favor. And holding your breath is going to actually speed time up or perceptions of it. Anyway, so I wrote a whole book on this, the Power of Breath. I wrote a whole other book on it. Learned to meditate in two minutes for the lazy grizz, and time deficient. And the thing about breath is it is the thing that will help you thrive and succeed, getting your health back, getting your clarity back, getting your creativity back. And I believe that it can get your prosperity back. So try it for a week and get back to me. Let me know how it's going. Sheevaun Moran, go to shavan moran.com. B"H Rosh Chodesh Adar begins, and our Rabbis teach, mishenichnas Adar marbim b'simcha — when Adar enters, joy increases. But real simcha isn't random. The letters of simcha rearrange to form the root of Mashiach. Joy is connected to purpose. To destiny. To knowing what story you are part of. As Rav Noach Weinberg zt'l would say, if you don't know what you're living for, you haven't really begun to live. Adar is an invitation to ask that question. What are you living for? What gives your dancing, your working, your loving, your striving meaning? When life is aligned with purpose, joy stops being superficial and becomes powerful. Chodesh Tov. May it be a month of deep, purposeful simcha. #Adar #Judaism #Happiness #Joy #Torah To watch Torah Thoughts in video format, click HERE Subscribe to the Torah Thoughts BLOG for exclusive written content! Brooks Reitz writes the wonderful newsletter A Small & Simple Thing, which has become one of our favorite reads. He also runs restaurants in Charleston and New Orleans, including Leon's Oyster Shop, Little Jack's Tavern, Melfi's, and the Bell. In this conversation we talk about Brook's unique worldview, built around restaurant hospitality, tastemaking (the not annoying kind), and design. We talk about the recent British Invasion for restaurants in America, and his acquisition of the Houston's / Hillstone training manual. And before that we have a great conversation with Johno Morisano and chef Mashama Bailey, partners at The Grey, an acclaimed and progressive restaurant located in historic downtown Savannah, Georgia. In this interview we chat with the pair about how they think about the big picture (together) and bounce around menu ideas (sometimes, not together). It's an enlightening and entertaining conversation about collaborating in a modern dining setting. Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves to declutter the entire house… in the busiest month of the year? And why does December always feel like the moment we should suddenly “get it together” with home organization, even when we're already stretched thin?If you've ever wondered why big decluttering projects feel impossible in December, you're not alone. There's a real reason your organizing momentum disappears the moment the holiday chaos begins, and it has nothing to do with motivation. In this episode, I'm breaking down the hidden forces that make December the hardest month for declutter projects, tidying marathons, and anything that requires sustained focus. And more importantly?I'm sharing 6 simple things you can organize instead that will give you back your time, your calm, and your sanity.Because sometimes the smartest home organization strategy isn't doing more... it's doing what actually supports you in the season you're in.If you're tired of feeling behind, overwhelmed by clutter, or frustrated that your family life gets more chaotic this time of year, this episode is going to help you breathe again.I'll show you how intentional, realistic organization can stabilise your days, reduce the noise, and make December feel lighter, without adding another stressful decluttering project to your plate. What if this month wasn't about achieving more… but about protecting your energy? And what if the smallest organizational shifts could bring the biggest sense of relief?Inside, I'll walk you through gentle, doable declutter strategies that work with your real life, especially if you're already navigating family routines, neurodivergent needs, and holiday overwhelm. If you're listening on Spotify and Living Clutter Free Forever showed up in Your 2025 Wrapped, I would love to hear from you. …And we're back!Yes, first episode of No Tags for a few weeks, and while we do appreciate the concern, it's just the two of us running this show, we both have jobs that we do it around, and sometimes we get really busy. Also Tom was in Asia for three weeks and most importantly, we were making a book. That's right: the second No Tags book is here! Titled ‘Conversations on underground music culture, Volume 2', it's essentially a sequel to our first book: a compendium of the best interviews and conversations we've had on the second year of No Tags, with five exclusive pieces to boot. You can order it now over on our Shopify store! We'll be launching the book on 11th December at the ICA, where we'll be joined by Djrum, Anjali Prashar-Savoie and Finn. We're down to the last 50 tickets for the show, and we'll have the new book on sale on the night plus some other treats. We're excited to see you there – get your tickets from the ICA website. Finally, there's a pod this week! We've spent the last month sucking up culture like the sponges we are – and we're not just talking about Tom's late night ramen adventures in Tokyo. We debrief recent trips to Bang Face Weekender and Simple Things, as well as live shows from Smerz and Model/Actriz. We also share our memories (not to mention some potentially spurious speculation) about the great Bloc Weekend debacle of 2012. If you know you know. It's a loose episode that's heavy on the yapping, but hey – we were making a book! It's good to be back. See you at the ICA. The simple things that bring us joy is what we often times forget. We all have to remember that we have a choice every day to be happy or sad. The choice is yours. It's important that we fill our cup up daily by doing the things that brings us pure joy. Whatever that simple thing is, I encourage you to never forget and do it often. Your happiness depends on it.
Today we’re joined by one of the world’s leading experts on teen drinking and prevention—Professor Rob Turrisi, a Penn State researcher whose 35+ years of work have shaped national programs through MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) and schools across the U.S. In this important and hope-filled conversation, Professor Turrisi unpacks why teens start drinking, what actually works when it comes to prevention, and how parents can foster healthy, connected relationships that reduce risk and build trust. If you’re a parent, mentor, teacher, or anyone who cares about the next generation, this episode offers both science and a compassionate look at what helps, what doesn’t, and how small, everyday actions can have lifelong impact.

Love Me or Leave Me: In this penultimate season of Karma's my Bitch and the final season about bliss, it's to no one's surprise that we put Love at the center of it all. Because without Love, where are we, as a collective, even heading? Naturally, when it comes to Love and bliss, it's not something we've ever known or fully experienced, but is very much possible when we've made karma our bitch.

The reason attendees asked if they could come back. My honest take on not having all the answers. How Lori turned a magazine cover into her “backstage pass”.
