Chatting With Sherri welcomes back author and screenwriter; Buzz Dixon! CHEEKY -When troublemaker Dimbulb Gilhooey learns an old clothing-optional law is still on the books, he starts a movement that turns the town of Newbridge topsy-turvy. It's a summer of sun-baked shenanigans as Dimbulb and his followers challenge pastors, police, politicians, and public propriety for the right to bare arms -- as well as the rest of their bodies. Preposterous? Far-fetched? Utterly unbelievable? Maybe -- if it wasn't inspired by actual real life events! (cover art by Travis Hanson)" Heartbreaks & Half-truths: 22 Stories of Mystery & Suspense -, Buzz Dixon (Contributor),- Lovers and losers; The twenty-two authors represented in this collection of mystery and suspense interpret the overarching theme of “heartbreaks and half-truths” in their own inimitable style, where only one thing is certain: Behind every broken heart lies a half-truth. And behind every half-truth lies a secret. Buzz Dixon is a writer of novels, comic books, films , and cartoons. His cartoon work includes both writing and editing credits. He wrote numerous episodes of GI Joe: A Real American Hero, The Transformers, Thundarr the Barbarian, Jem, Inhumanoids, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Tiny Toon Adventures, Tarzan and the Super 7, Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light, Dungeons & Dragons and Teen Wolf. He also served as a story editor for the GI Joe and Teen Wolf series, and was a story consultant on G.I. Joe: The Movie and My Little Pony: The Movie.
Throwing back to the classic (if slightly underheralded) animation of our youths, Kevin brings forth Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light, yet another Hasbro-backed vehicle reverse-engineered to sell toys. And, like the far more popular G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, this show was made by Sunbow Productions. Has lightning struck twice?
Look out, the Holodeck's malfunctioning and we're all trapped inside! And the safety protocols have been disabled! And the holograms are self aware! Today we're looking at the Holodeck in three different shows and all the horrors it can cause. First up is The Big Sleep, which introduces Picard as the private dick, Dixon Hill and his entourage can't stop touching things. We also both attempt to re-create Picard's epic speech from the end of the episode. Then we've got Kobayashi, where Dal tries to get through a Holodeck Kobayashi Maru with some of the best people in Starfleet (and Odo who's not technically part of Starfleet). Finally, Bashir and a very sassy Garak play at spies in Our Man Bashir, facing death traps and their comrades who think they're characters in a campy spy film! We also get into some musical acts who gave us psychic damage, a nemesis of the pod and use this as an excuse to talk about a rare musical track that's featured in an episode. 00:09:54 TNG: The Big Sleep 00:40:29 Prodigy: Kobayashi 01:03:12 DS9: Our Man Bashir Talking points include: Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light, Arnold Judas Rimmer, Dune (1984), Dune (the SyFy movie), Sting's movie career, Lil Gator, the Pokemon Fuecoco, Dead Ringers, The Maltese Falcon, Miles' patronising clapping, Charlie's egg-shaped head, the facial hair of all the different Poirots, D&D novels, Macross, Reboot, Ba Weep Granna Weep Ninny Bong, LA Confidential, Blob Detective, Red Harvest, Brad Dourif, Thunderstruck, Rock Band, Maximum Overdrive, Star Wars: Rebels, Pandemic, Will Self & Gareth Gates' musical career, Explaining The Wombles & Britpop to Americans, James Bond movies, The Man from UNCLE, Alien, LeCarre, GoldenEye. Hello, supporters! Please pledge your downloads to this important return to TOYS 4 BOYS! We're watching the failed pilot for a cartoon about Madballs, in which theoretically gross balls are absolutely prohibited from playing music. Yay. And then we're watching a more successful pilot about Visionaries, in which post-modern-day knights endure the whims of a fickle dungeon master as he tries to give them some holographic magic. Plus, Matsy plays Splatoon 3, and Micah ranks kings and queens and JoJo. Call now! Cartoons in this episode: Madballs: Escape from Orb! Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light, "The Age of Magic Begins"

Before we race ahead to the next season of Robots in Disguise, we're taking a detour back to 1987 with a lesser-known Hasbro series, Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light! When a catastrophic solar alignment causes all the technology on the world of Prysmos to stop working, humanity falls into a new dark age -- until the mysterious wizard Merklynn offers to teach magic to any bold enough to brave the path to his mountain shrine! Will the heroic Leoric be able to bring this new hope back to the city of New Valarak, or will the evil warlord Darkstorm get it first? Or will they BOTH get it because Merklynn is actually a Chaotic Neutral asshole? How many new characters can we fit into a roll call? Why does this show look so GOOD? And... why a MOLLUSK? Join us this week for the first episode of Visionaries, "The Age of Magic Begins"!
Hey Folks, We're back with our last episode in the Visonaries series. Sad to see this show go as it's been a great time to watch and talk about it. The last 4 episodes are more fun times with the Darkling Lords, caper action, man eating plants, some totem swapping and hijinks with sun imps. A fun show as always so check it out V

Hey Folks, With Jayce in the bag, Nero, Naomi and Marc are back again to start a new journey into the magical world of Visonaries. Visonaries was a very short lived show (only 13 epsiodes) that ran from 87' - 88' but had a cool concept and a great cast. A personal fave of both Marc and Naomi and a kind of new experiecne for Nero. So join us as we venture into a world without technology that crumbled back to the dark ages within a decade. A fun show as always so check it out.
Buzz Dixon's writing resume has included Thundarr the Barbarian, Jem, Inhumanoids, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Tiny Toon Adventures, Tarzan and the Super 7 (the Web Woman installments), Visionaries: Knights of the Magical Light, Dungeons & Dragons and the Teen Wolf animated series. He has worked for Filmation, Ruby-Spears, Sunbow and Warner Animation. He has also worked with some legendary people including Jack “The King” Kirby. The man who basically created the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. But it's GI Joe he's best remembered. And wrote some of the most memorable episodes for the series using his time in the Army to help guide the writing team in creating stories for a military team. Bret, Jamie and Andrew continue their discussion about work in the industry and the weekday afternoon and Saturday morning. And his thoughts about the revival of interest in 1980s property. And what it was like being part of creating those properties back then. As well as advice to young writers who wish to get their ideas out.

Visionaries #5 (1988)Does anyone who isn’t a regressed 80’s child remember the Visionaries? Visionaries were a toy line that focused on holograms and poems for boys. The figures were slightly bigger than GI Joes so you couldn’t have them wrestle each other unless if the Visionaries were from the land of Manute Bols. This short-lived comic follows the heel and face knights as they attempt to grab a few fancy jewels for a dying wizard who DEFINITELY IS NOT MERLIN. Its surprisingly progressive at points, especially when women ask for AND receive mystical powers equal to the men. Also, one of the knights makes soup and then turns into a green bear. Please rate, review, subscribe and tell a friend!Email the podcast at worstcollectionever@gmail.comContinue the conversation with Shawn and Jen on Twitter @angryheroshawn and @JenStansfield
