Last week, Rob & Greg imagined what the future of real estate might look like in the aftermath of the pandemic, pending a best-case scenario. Today, they get real about what’s ahead for the industry given the reality of our current circumstances. And they’re bringing on a number of industry stakeholders to offer their outlook as well. On this episode of Industry Relations, Rob and Greg are leading a group chat around what’s next for real estate as the Coronavirus pandemic plays out. The group offers predictions on how the MLS landscape may change, debating whether it’s the number of MLSs or the number of MLS databases that really matters and offering examples of hybrid solutions that may serve as a model for the future. Greg and Rob go on to solicit the group’s thoughts on the potential shape of the recovery curve and the possibility of a shift to a buyer’s market in 2021. Finally, they explain why an increase in property taxes is likely in the aftermath of the COVID-19 bailout and how that might impact buyer demand in the real estate market. Listen in for insight on Open House numbers in states where stay-at-home orders have been lifted and learn how those stats might be a good sign for other industries. What’s Discussed:  A review of what Rob & Greg covered in their best-case discussion Greg, Clint Skutchan, & John’s predictions re: the number of MLSs by 2023 Why the consolidation of data is more important than the total number of MLSs Tim Dain’s vision of a future with ten or fewer MLS databases that talk to each other How the pandemic demonstrates the industry’s underutilization of telecommunication Why Georgia is watching the commercial market for clues re: the future of residential Georgia’s concept of a J-shaped recovery Why Joshua Lopour is predicting a buyer’s market in 2021 Why Greg expects a best-case scenario uptick in buyer demand Why property taxes are likely to increase and how that might impact buyer demand The significant uptick in Open Houses scheduled in states where stay-at-home orders have been lifted How Open House numbers may be a good sign for other industries Connect with Rob and Greg: Rob’s Website Greg’s Website Resources:  MLS Grid MLS Aligned Northstar MLS CDP MetroList Great Recession + COVID-19 Bailout Comparison ShowingTime Showing Activity Statistics   Our Sponsors: Cloud Agent Suite Notorious VIP

The Dark Side of Peach History Presented by Chef Belinda Smith-Sullivan, Author, Just Peachy Who among us does not like peaches? In fact, most will proclaim that they “love” the stone fruit. Peaches are the most cherished fruit of the South; and the third most popular fruit in our country. Join us as Chef Belinda takes us along on her journey to writing her new book, Just Peachy, starting with her childhood summers spent on her grandparents' Mississippi Delta farm. Chef Belinda will share what she calls “the dark side of peach history,” revealing: · Why peaches were a wild and unwanted crop for farmers and producers. · How the peach industry was born out of a marketing makeover for the South after slavery ended. · How and why the peach industry still strives because of its segregated labor model. · Why Georgia is still regarded as “the peach state,” despite the fact that South Carolina production is more than twice the size of Georgia’s. And of course there will be some peachy samplings prepared by our volunteers. BIOGRAPHY: Belinda Smith-Sullivan is a chef, food writer, spice blends entrepreneur, a commercially-rated pilot and author of the newly-released cookbook, Just Peachy published by Gibbs Smith. She received a culinary arts degree from Johnson & Wales University and writes a monthly food column for South Carolina Living magazine. Chef Belinda is an active member of the Southern Foodways Alliance, the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP), the American Culinary Federation, and Les Dames d’Escoffier. A native Chicagoan, she lives in Edgefield County, South Carolina, the peach capital of the South. Welcome to Girls on the Sideline, where we take on the hot issues in sports and everything else related to it. We had a lot of bad things happen last week. To start things off, we address the issue with Cam Newton and his sexist “joke” to a female reporter. It’s 2017, women are allowed to like and actually know their way around sports! It’s not even the remark itself, but the way he said it that makes our blood boil. Speaking of things that make the blood boil, our girl Jemele Hill got suspended recently for her controversial tweets. All we can say is we’re more than happy to have her as a third host if she wants! Moving away from the “bad stuff,” we put the spotlight on college football due to HUGE upsets and some SCC teams not making the top 25 cut for the first time in years. Despite the bad news, this year’s football season is turning out to be more fun than we expected!   "I need a separation of state and sport." – Whitney Melancon   Highlights of Today’s Episode: Cam Newton’s sexist remark to a female reporter regarding routes, his excuse, and why it made things worse. The Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse issue and John Moffat’s infuriating Pro Cam comment. Jemele Hill’s two-week suspension over her “boycott” tweet. Is ESPN overcompensating with Jemele’s suspension? Jimmy Jones’ threat to “kneelers” SCC Top 25 polls shaking up, huge upsets. Why Georgia is still the only team who can beat Atlanta. The Mark Rick we saw last week isn’t the UGA one. Three college football contenders fall out of the Top 25. Why the NFL right now feels like every team has a chance.   This Week’s Kevin Sumlin Coach on the Hot Seat Award: Not a coach on the hot seat, but a hot seat take: The Texas A&M for hosting a game without running water in their stadium.   Lindsay’s MVP & LVP of the Week: This week’s MVP award goes to –  David Letterman, for his hysterical speech during the unveiling of Peyton Manning's statue. This week’s LVP award goes to –  Miami Dolphins Offensive Line Coach, Chris Foerster for recording a video while snorting some “white powder”   Whitney MVP & LVP of the Week: This week’s MVP award goes to –  Florida's old school song and their tribute to Tom Petty. This week’s LVP award goes to – NFL injuries, there were so many injuries; big time season-changing injuries.   Love the show? Join our fans on the net and leave us your honest feedback!
