    Ivy Insights

The Full Frontal Living? Podcast with Lisa Carpenter is an incredible podcast that has quickly become one of my favorites. Lisa is refreshingly honest, raw, and real in her discussions about emotions and how to navigate them. I have learned so much from her about understanding and managing my own emotions on a day-to-day basis. What sets this podcast apart is that Lisa doesn't edit her episodes, allowing for a truly authentic and vulnerable listening experience. I am grateful to Lisa for being herself and sharing her wisdom with the world.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is how powerful and direct Lisa's communication style is. She delivers information in a clear and concise manner, while still maintaining enough compassion to make it impactful without avoiding the hard work that needs to be done. I appreciate how she gets straight to the point without beating around the bush. Her relatability also makes her message even more powerful, as she speaks from personal experience.

There aren't many negative aspects about this podcast, but if I had to mention one, it would be that sometimes the episodes can feel overwhelming due to their intensity. Lisa dives deep into emotional topics and can be quite direct in her approach. While this can be incredibly helpful for personal growth, it may not resonate with everyone or suit every listener's taste.

In conclusion, The Full Frontal Living? Podcast with Lisa Carpenter is a must-listen for anyone looking to better understand their emotions and navigate life's challenges. Lisa's authenticity, vulnerability, and wisdom make this podcast truly special. I highly recommend giving it a listen and allowing yourself to be inspired by her insights.

Why You Might Be Addicted To Achievement (And How To Let Peace In Without Slowing Down)

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 3, 2025 29:43

What if the driving force behind your achievements isn't about what you want, but what you're desperately trying to run away from? In this raw and honest episode, Lisa gets real about the hidden addiction to achievement that so many high performers share—and why your relationship with success might actually be keeping you from the life you really want. What We're Diving Into:The Achievement Trap: Lisa breaks down how the constant chase for more—awards, recognition, that next level of success—often becomes a way to avoid sitting with ourselves. Are you actually pursuing your dreams, or are you just trying to outrun discomfort?Your Power to Choose (Yes, Really): Here's the thing—you're not stuck in old patterns or at the mercy of external validation. Through awareness and honest self-reflection, you can choose how to respond, break the cycles that are keeping you small, and create new patterns that actually nourish you.Peace Without the Productivity Guilt: This isn't about slowing down or doing less (Lisa knows that's not realistic for most of us). It's about learning how to let peace and satisfaction exist alongside your ambitions. You can have both.Success That Actually Feels Good: True fulfillment isn't about what everyone else sees on the outside—it's about how you feel when you're alone with yourself. Lisa shares how to build that intimate, loving relationship with yourself where peace becomes your new normal.Living Enchanted: Drawing from Elizabeth Gilbert's work, Lisa introduces the concept of an "enchanted life"—not the Instagram version, but a sustainable way of being that's grounded, balanced, and deeply satisfying. The Real Talk Moments:Why excitement and depression are often two sides of the same coin—and how many of us are actually addicted to the chaosHow your body can become hooked on dopamine and adrenaline hits, making stillness feel scary or "wrong"The hard questions you need to ask yourself about where you're chasing intensity instead of actual fulfillmentWhy reclaiming your power of choice is the gateway to deeper presence, creativity, and connectionYour Homework (Because Lisa Always Gives You Homework):Get Honest: Where are you mistaking busyness for productivity? When did you last choose to slow down instead of being forced to?Notice the Good Stuff: What are your moments of real enchantment? The ones that fill you up without requiring achievement? Can you let more of these in?Remember This: You deserve to feel as good as your life looks on paper. But that's a choice you have to make from the inside out.Bottom line: Every single day, you get to choose—to let peace in, to honor what you've built, and to create a life that feels as incredible as it looks. The question is: will you?Ready to Go Deeper?Lisa shares details about working together, including her Reclamation program for women ready to stop performing their lives and start living them, one-on-one coaching, and her upcoming Tulum retreat where you'll integrate peace and ambition in the most beautiful setting. If this episode hit you right in the feels, share it with someone who needs to hear it. And honestly? Leave a review. It helps other people find these conversations when they need them most.

Are You Ready to Let Go, or Just Want to? [Re-release Rock Episode + 1 Year Reflection]

Play Episode Listen Later May 28, 2025 53:47

Lisa shares a raw, personal story from her transformative month-long solo journey through Spain and Morocco. After 2023 turned her world upside down, she found herself carrying literal rocks that represented her deepest pain - and discovered why we cling to suffering even when we desperately want to be free. This isn't your typical "just let it go" advice. This is the real, messy truth about what it actually takes to release what's holding you back. The Story That Changes EverythingWhile walking the Camino, Lisa picked up two rocks representing specific pains in her life. What happened next reveals the hidden psychology behind why we stay stuck:She carried one rock for thousands of kilometers across multiple countriesShe checked on it daily, panicking if she couldn't find itShe knew she wanted to let it go, yet actively protected itShe realized she was doing the same thing mentally with her painThe uncomfortable truth: We get addicted to our pain because it feels safer than the unknown. Why Smart, Successful People Stay StuckThe Pain You Know vs. The Pain You Don'tFamiliar suffering feels more manageable than uncertain healingYour pain becomes your identity, making you fear who you'd be without itPast hurt tricks you into thinking it's protecting you from future hurtThe secondary benefits of pain (attention, sympathy, avoiding decisions) keep you hookedThe Certainty TrapWhen you're carrying emotional rocks, you know exactly what to expect each day. Without them? Complete uncertainty. And uncertainty feels dangerous to high achievers who built their success on control and predictability. The Real Work Begins After You Let GoHere's what no one tells you: Releasing the pain is the easy part. The hard part is the commitment you make afterward. When Lisa finally threw her rock into the ocean, she committed to:Never allowing those thought patterns to take root againRedirecting her mind when it wanted to revisit the painBuilding a completely new foundation based on her valuesMoving forward without looking backThis is why most people fail at letting go - they think the release is the end, when it's actually the beginning. Your Turn: The Rock ExerciseIdentify your rocks - What pain, story, or identity are you carrying?Get honest about the payoff - What are you getting from holding onto this?Find actual rocks - Create physical representations of what you want to releaseCarry them - Notice how you check on them, protect them, worry about themDefine your commitments - What will you be committed to when you let go?Release with ceremony - When you're truly ready, let them go meaningfully Why This Matters for Driven PeopleIf you're someone who has "everything figured out" on the outside but feels disconnected on the inside, this episode is for you. Lisa's story shows that:Success doesn't protect you from needing to do deep emotional workThe same intensity that drives achievement can keep you stuck in painTrue leadership requires facing the parts of yourself you've been avoidingYour capacity for joy will only match your willingness to feel everything else The Bottom LineStop saying you're "working on letting go." Either you're ready to let go, or you're not. And if you're not, get honest about why. What's that pain doing for you? What would you have to commit to if it wasn't there? The life you want is waiting on the other side of the rocks you're carrying. But you have to be willing to put them down and walk forward empty-handed.Ready to do this work? Lisa is accepting new one-on-one coaching clients and has spots available in her Reclamation program. Because some transformations require support, and this is one of them.If this episode resonated with you, share it with someone who needs to hear it. In episode 308 of the Full Frontal Living Podcast, I'm joined by the brilliant and bold Callan Faulkner, AI coach and founder of The Uncommon Business, to talk about something that feels equal parts exciting and overwhelming for most of us: artificial intelligence. But don't worry—we're not talking robots and world domination. We're talking about how AI can be a surprisingly powerful mirror for your personal growth, your habits, your chaos... and ultimately, your power to choose how you show up.This episode is part soulful conversation, part practical strategy—and 100% about helping you see that technology doesn't replace your wisdom. It amplifies it. If you're willing to engage with intention. What We Get Into:AI as a Self-Reflection Tool: It's not about the tech—it's about how you use it. AI simply reflects back what you bring to it. If you're feeling scattered or unsure, guess what's going to show up in your prompts? Yep—more chaos. Why Questions Matter More Than Answers: Whether you're journaling, talking to a coach, or prompting a chatbot—the quality of your input always shapes the outcome. Callan and I riff on how to ask better questions so you get better results.Collapsing Time + Clarifying Chaos: We talk about how AI can help streamline your life—from meal planning to emotional processing—and why your real power lies in choosing what to act on (and what to let go of).Overcoming Overwhelm: Callan and I both share how AI can become another form of busy work if you're not careful. It's not about more ideas—it's about choosing what actually matters. Ready to Work Smarter AND Grow Deeper?Start by asking yourself: Where am I using my tools—and where are my tools using me? Because the real transformation isn't in the tech. It's in the way you choose to live your life. Let's Keep the Conversation Going:Loved this episode? In episode 307, Lisa invites listeners to explore the depth of their inner world with the timeless fable of the two wolves, drawing on her own journey and her extensive coaching experience.Lisa shares both the classic and extended versions of the "Two Wolves" fable, unpacking how this story relates to our daily choices, emotions, and personal growth. Instead of seeing the “Dark Wolf” (our challenges, doubts, and tough emotions) as something to ignore, Lisa encourages us to acknowledge and understand both our dark and light sides. Ultimately, this episode is a powerful reminder that we all possess the incredible power to choose which parts of ourselves we nurture—but also how much richer life can be when we accept and learn from all of our internal experiences.Key Highlights:You Always Have a Choice: Lisa reminds us that the life we're living is the result of countless choices, both conscious and unconscious. Where we put our attention and energy—whether it's on positivity and growth or on negative thought loops—shapes our experience and outcomes.Beyond “Good” and “Bad” Sides: The extended version of the Two Wolves fable reveals that both our dark and light sides have gifts to offer. Instead of starving one side, we're invited to feed both, gaining courage, tenacity, compassion, and self-compassion in the process.Embracing All of Yourself: Lisa models how to integrate, value, and lovingly acknowledge every part of who we are—including the parts we often try to hide or suppress. This acceptance is where true peace, ease, and fulfillment are found. The Power to Change Your Story: Suffering and struggle may seem like our default settings, but by choosing to focus on what we want to create (rather than what we wish to avoid), we empower ourselves to change—and truly thrive.Real Transformation: Lisa's episode is not just theory; she shares personal examples and client experiences that show just how much is possible when we honor all of ourselves, create new habits, and choose courage over comfort. This episode is more than just a story; it's about the freedom that comes when you realize your power to choose and start integrating all parts of yourself. Lisa encourages you to reflect: How can you nurture both your dark and light wolves—and what could become possible if you do?Grab your earbuds, get cozy (or go out on a walk!), and let Lisa guide you to greater self-understanding and empowerment. Resources:To learn about Lisa's transformative "Reclamation" program, visit LisaCarpenter.ca/ReclamationLisa loves hearing feedback from her listeners! But Lisa's here to remind us: you might not control what's happening around you, but you always have a choice in how you respond. This one's part personal story, part tough love, and a whole lot of practical wisdom. What You'll Hear in This Episode:Worry feels productive. It's not. That hamster wheel of “what if” is just mental noise. Lisa breaks down why worry isn'tthe same as taking action—and how it's often just our brain trying to feel safe in unsafe times. Worry is a habit—and habits can be broken. Lisa opens up about a time when she was drowning in debt and anxiety, and how she realized that worry had become her go-to emotional addiction. She shares what it took to finally stop feeding it. Your focus = your reality. Whether it's your bank account, your health, or the state of the world—what you pay attention to expands. Lisa talks about reclaiming your focus and using it to build possibility instead of more fear. A 4-step practice to shift out of worry: Catch the pattern: Notice when you're looping or commiserating—and stop indulging it.Ask better questions: Is today actually any different than yesterday? Has something real happened, or is your brain spinning stories?Redirect your energy: Focus on what you do want or what brings you a sense of peace, even if it's something small.Take aligned action—if it's needed: If you can do something, do it. If not? Let it go.Self-parenting through discomfort. Breaking the worry cycle means feeling some things you've probably been avoiding. Lisa explains how to ride the wave instead of letting it run your life. You don't have to do it alone. If your nervous system is fried and your thoughts are running the show, it might be time to get support. Who I am, What I Do, and How I Help High-Achievers Break Free From Overwhelm

Welcome back to the Full Frontal Living Podcast! I'm Lisa Carpenter, and I'm so excited to dive into this empowering episode with you. Today, we're talking all about choice—how it's the key to transforming our lives from the inside out. This is one of my favorite topics because I truly believe we all have the power to choose, to shift, and to create the life we want.   What we cover in today's episode: A New Setting and Mindset: In this episode, I'm coming to you from the beautiful outdoor space in Tulum, surrounded by incredible women at a masterminding retreat. The energy here is electric, and I'm feeling so inspired. It's such a reminder of the power of the environment and the people we surround ourselves with. The energy you choose to be in will shift you to a whole new level. Beyond the Surface: Let's get real. My coaching approach goes way beyond the surface. I don't just listen to words—I listen to the energy behind the words. Intuition is a huge part of how I work with my clients. I help them tap into their own truth, and from there, radical transformation happens. You can reshape your life when you get to the core of your emotional struggles and give them the attention they deserve. Personal Growth Journey: I've had my own share of struggles with self-worth. Despite some external successes, I often felt like I didn't truly belong or wasn't enough. But I went on a journey to find healing, and it led me to a major breakthrough where I was finally able to celebrate my own value. This episode dives into that journey—how I got to a place of truly owning who I am and showing up authentically. The Power of Letting Go: One of the most powerful tools for transformation is the ability to let go. Letting go of old stories, limiting beliefs, and narratives that don't serve us anymore. I use a metaphor about training a puppy to explain how you can retrain your mind and silence those negative voices. Once you recognize these stories, you can choose to release them. Finding Fulfillment: Are you chasing success but not feeling fulfilled? Let's talk about it. We often focus on external validation, but true fulfillment comes from a deep connection with ourselves. I'm challenging you to reflect on what success really means and whether it's aligned with your values. When we shift the focus inward, the transformation is real. Transformation Through Vulnerability: True transformation happens when we allow ourselves to be vulnerable. It's about being present with our pain, sitting with it, and letting it guide us to healing. It's not easy, but it's worth it. I'm here to help you move through the hard truths and transform your suffering into growth. If any part of this episode resonates with you, I invite you to take that courageous step toward deeper transformation. You can connect with me through my website or social media, and let's start exploring how to move you forward. Remember, this year can be a turning point for you, and it all starts with making the choice to step into your own power.   Connect with Lisa: Instagram: @LisaCarpenterInc Website: LisaCarpenter.ca Thank you so much for tuning in to another powerful episode of Full Frontal Living! She explores the importance of taking personal responsibility in these uncertain times, and how our ability to respond thoughtfully can make all the difference in our own lives—and in the world around us. Transformation often comes through destruction, and in this episode, Lisa reminds us of the power we hold to choose how we show up, no matter what's happening around us. Key Takeaways: Embracing Destruction for Growth: Sometimes, chaos is the catalyst for transformation. Lisa shares how even in the most difficult situations, something new can emerge. Embrace the process of destruction—it's often the precursor to something bigger and better. Personal Responsibility and Boundaries: You can't change what's outside your control, but you can control how you show up. Take responsibility for your own well-being first. Set boundaries to ensure you're supporting yourself before extending that support to others. Staying Neutral and Educated: When navigating global challenges, staying neutral allows you to show up with clarity. Educate yourself and hold space for multiple perspectives. Being well-informed helps you make better decisions. Small Acts, Big Impact: Don't underestimate the power of small actions. Whether it's a kind word or a small gesture, everything makes a difference. Focus on making meaningful, sustainable contributions—whether that's through thoughtful consumption or acts of service. Conscious Consumption: Take a moment to reflect on your own consumption habits. How do they impact the world around you, from climate change to human rights? Make intentional choices about your needs vs. your wants. Navigating Emotions and Receiving Support: It's okay to feel overwhelmed or helpless in the face of global issues. Give yourself grace. Learn how to receive support just as much as you give it. Balance is key in maintaining your well-being. Transformation and Closure: 2025 is a year of reflection, closure, and transformation. Use this time to align yourself with your values and make space for the new cycle ahead. Action Steps: Reflect on your personal boundaries. Where can you take more responsibility? Think about small actions you can take to positively impact your community or global issues. Reevaluate your consumption habits and commit to more conscious choices. ENCORE How to Become More Resilient and Find True Strength

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 17, 2024 30:51

Welcome back to another episode of the Full Frontal Living podcast! In episode 294, we're revisiting one of the most powerful concepts on the journey of personal growth and healing: the power of choice and taking responsibility for your life. Join Lisa as she shares personal stories and real-life examples of how she learnt to take full responsibility for her life, and how it's been a game-changer in her own growth. Key Takeaways: Personal Growth Starts With You: We all have the ability to shape our lives, but it starts with taking full responsibility for where we are right now. Personal transformation doesn't happen by accident. It's about understanding what you truly desire and committing to it, no matter how messy or uncomfortable it gets. Vulnerability and Asking for Help: You don't have to do this alone. Coaches, therapists, and a solid support system are absolute game-changers when it comes to healing and growth. You can't do it by yourself, and that's more than okay. We all need people to help guide us through the tough stuff. Being vulnerable and letting others in has been key to my healing journey. You don't have to do it alone. Commit to Self-Care: I'm not talking about bubble baths here. I'm talking about real self-care: nutrition, sleep, exercise. These things are non-negotiable if you want to thrive. If you're neglecting these basics, your healing journey is going to be a lot harder. Face Your Fears: Being resilient doesn't mean just pushing through. It means being present with your fears and challenges and transforming them into opportunities for growth. I've faced fears head-on in my life, and I'll tell you: you come out the other side stronger and more empowered. Building True Resilience: Resilience is about flexibility—emotionally, mentally, and physically. It's not about “grin and bear it” or pushing yourself into burnout. It's about being able to bounce back without losing yourself along the way. Break Free from Unhelpful Patterns: We often turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms (like overworking) to avoid emotions. But real growth happens when you feel the emotion and move through it without using work, food, or other distractions as a crutch. The bottom line: You have the power to choose how you respond to your life. Healing and transformation come when you take responsibility, embrace vulnerability, and lean on the people around you. If I can do it, so can you. Let's keep going, keep evolving, and create the lives we know we're meant to live. Let's make 2025 the best year of our lives.   Resources: Interested in working with Lisa? Learn more here. In episode 291, I had the privilege of sitting down with Dr. Jade Teta, a naturopathic physician, fitness expert, and author, to dive deep into the transformative power of choice. We talk about how the choices we make – consciously or unconsciously – shape our lives, relationships, and even our growth. Key Insights: Awareness is the First Step: Jade highlights how understanding our past patterns and unconscious decisions is the starting point for true empowerment. When we recognize the unconscious stories that shape us, we can take control of our narrative. Emotional Guidance with AFRAID: Jade introduced the AFRAID acronym – Anger, Frustration, Resistance, Anxiety, Insecurity, and Depression. These emotions, often tied to our unconscious stories, can dictate our decisions. The trick? Feel them fully, but don't let them run the show. Choosing Growth Over Comfort: We often choose comfort over change, but Jade reminds us that growth comes when we step into discomfort. If we keep choosing the same old path, we stay stuck in negative patterns. But when we embrace discomfort, that's when the magic happens. Relationship Growth: Jade and I talk about how relationships can either elevate or hold us back. Sometimes, we have to make a choice: reframe and redefine the relationship for mutual growth, or let go for both to flourish. Either way, it's about growing. Radical Accountability: Jade emphasizes the importance of taking responsibility for our actions, emotions, and perceptions. He introduces the concept of radical accountability—owning it all. Setting healthy boundaries and recognizing that no one is responsible for our feelings but us is key to growth. Rethinking Romance: We explore the traditional "you complete me" narrative and propose a shift to "you grow me." Relationships should be about mutual growth, not completion. This shift can create more depth and connection in your partnerships. Living Authentically: Jade shares his views on the four major human drives: Power, Popularity, Pleasure, and Purpose. He encourages us to be true to our next-level selves and not fall into the trap of societal expectations. It's all about authenticity. Proactive Engagement with Life: Instead of accepting that “everything happens for a reason,” Jade urges us to actively create meaning and purpose in our lives. We are the creators of our own journey, and it's time to own that responsibility. Resources and Connections: Jade Teta's Work: Dive deeper into Jade's approach with his Next Level Human coaching and certification programs at nextlevelhuman.com. Recommended Reading: Jade's latest book is packed with even more insights into creating a purposeful life and stepping into your next-level self. Click here to access. Final Thoughts: I'm so grateful for Jade's wisdom in this episode. It's a powerful reminder that we have the ability to choose our path and take control of our own growth. Whether it's in relationships, career, or personal development, we have the power to create change. Take responsibility for your choices, recognize your emotional patterns, and step into continuous growth.
