Hour 1 of The Drive kicks off with Phil and Will live from Todd Creek Golf Course. The guys react to the breaking news of the day in Sean Payton and the Broncos agreeing to a new 5-year contract extension. Will Payton get a pay raise in his new contract after all the success he's had in Denver the past few seasons? Does this rule out a future in which Davis Webb will be the head coach of the Broncos? Phil and Will continue to discuss Sean Payton's contract extension, and we hear from Sean on how great ownership has been here in Denver, and still being excited about football. We pivot to the Avalanche as Joe Sakic spoke today at the team's end-of-the-season press conference. We hear Sakic's thoughts on Jared Bednar returning for next season, even in the final year of his contract. Will Bednar get an extension before the next season starts? Will the Avs and Cale Makar agree on a contract extension this offseason?

If anyone outside of the clubhouse has their finger on the pulse of the Pittsburgh Pirates, it's long time play by play announcer Greg Brown. We are fortunate to have him join us on this episode to take a peek into the 2025 Pirates. With few roster roster and coaching changes can we expect much of the same or does one of the best young pitching staffs in baseball lead by All Rookie of the Year and CY Young candidate Paul Skenes take this team to a level they have not seen since 2013-2015. Lets jump right into the off season, the team spent under 12 million dollars to fill spots that were in need. Did they really address these needs with upgrades when all they did were 1 year deals with aging veterans or guys looking for an opportunity? Who would you say is the most important acquisition of the off season? Spencer Horwitz was traded for in a 3 team deal to be a mainstay hopefully at first base. Coming in, Ben Cherrington knew that a wrist injury has been an issue. Why did he make the deal and if so why give up so much starting with Luis Ortiz? With Horwitz out now, who will play first base in his absence? What is the timeline from his return and what can the Pirates expect from him. Recently, the Pirates signed Tommy Pham, a 37 year old journeyman outfielder. Why? He has a history and a not so favorable one at that. What role does Isiah Kiner-Falefa play on the 2025 Pirates? He has been known predominantly as a highly productive utility player but word on the street is that he could be the everyday shortstop and that's not his strong suit. Where will the power source come from with this team? Andrew McCutcheon at 38 years old and Bryan Reynolds could be two sources. Before we move on to the pitching staff, share what you believe will be the most days starting 8 (I know Shelton has his Sunday lineup). Paul Skenes is a generational player. What can Pirate fans expect next from him after he was an All-Star, Rookie of the Year and a Cy Young candidate in his ¾ of a season. Can Jared Jones maintain his #2 role? It looks like he will be needed to replicate his success from last year or will Mitch Keller swap spots with him to alleviate some of the pressure and innings. Please project the starting five pitchers. How did the Pirates help their bullpen? Will Bednar and Holderman bounce back from somewhat disappointing seasons and what makes you believe that? You've been around Pirate baseball for 31 years, why should fans trust that this team is going to be different based on what they know from the off season and past recent seasons. Are Derek Shelton and Ben Cherrington sitting on hot seats? Instead of predicting a record lets say will they be over or under 82 wins this season? Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick discusses FanGraphs' newly released San Francisco Giants Top 39 Prospects list. The list is full of surprises, not at all conforming to the status quo or other rankings. For example, Patrick Bailey, to Ben's knowledge never before seen in the Giants' Top 5, ranks as the organization's third-best prospect. Joey Bart, meanwhile, continues his fall with evaluators, coming in as the team's sixth-best prospect. Bart's miserable 2020 debut really sent his stock reeling, and Ben discusses what this means for the Giants' future at the catcher position, with Buster Posey retired and Curt Casali the only other catcher on the roster (along with Bart) who projects to get major league playing time in 2022.Ben also talks about another top ranking for Marco Luciano, although he wonders a little bit about Luciano's fall from a 60 future value ranking down to 55. His struggles in High-A don't seem too important, given he was the youngest player at the entire level. Luis Matos also gets another high ranking, coming in as the organization's second-best prospect. Matos offers a tantilizing blend of hit and power, to go along with speed and a center field profile. He has an elite strikeout rate, but his feel for contact does lead to a little more chase than the Giants likely want. Regardless, Matos and Luciano have sky-high ceilings and it will be exciting to follow their progress in 2022. They're likely to begin the season in High-A Eugene, and could be promoted to Double-A by the end of the year, with a major league debut possible in 2023.Kyle Harrison, Heliot Ramos, Gregory Santos, Hunter Bishop, Will Bednar, and Jairo Pomares round out the Top 10.Follow & Subscribe to the Locked On Giants Podcast on these platforms

Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick discusses the San Francisco Giants' sixth- through 10th-best prospects, according to Baseball America. Yesterday he talked about the Giants' Top Five, all of whom had a spot on BA's Top 100 Prospects list. Marco Luciano, Joey Bart, Luis Matos, Heliot Ramos, and Kyle Harrison are exciting prospects indeed. But what about the next five names?Ben discusses the scouting reports on Will Bednar, the Giants' first-round pick in 2021, Matt Mikulski, their second-round pick last year, and the three others rounding out the top 10. Jairo Pomares, Aeverson Arteaga, and Ryan Murphy complete the list. Overall, Ben points out that it's best not to only look at one source when evaluating prospects. Predicting the future success (or failure) of prospects is an extremely tricky business, so looking at as many sources as possible is always a good idea. Ben plans on discussing the upcoming top prospects lists that will be announced by other major sources. He also discusses the fact that the MLBPA is going to make an in-person proposal to MLB on Monday in Manhattan. This will be the second significant meeting of the MLB lockout, with the league having made its first core economics proposal to the MLBPA last Thursday.Follow & Subscribe to the Locked On Giants Podcast on these platforms

Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick examines the state of the San Francisco Giants' farm system. He dives into The Athletic's Melissa Lockard's Top 30 Giants prospects list, getting to the top five names. By this point, almost everyone knows that Marco Luciano is considered the Giants' top prospect. But what should we make of his 2021 season? He dominated in Low-A San Jose, but struggled after a promotion to High-A Eugene. He then struggled in the Arizona Fall League as well. Thankfully, his stock hasn't really fallen, because he was so much younger than the competition where he struggled. The sky remains the limit for Luciano.Next on the list, without giving away any spoilers, is some combination of Joey Bart, Luis Matos, Kyle Harrison, and Will Bednar. It's refreshing to have two pitchers emerge within the top five in the system, and Matos' emergence should be exciting for Giants fans. Bart has fallen in recent seasons, but how far? What should fans expect from Bart in 2022, when he's expected to get most of the playing time at the catcher position with Buster Posey deciding to retire?Follow & Subscribe to the Locked On Giants Podcast on these platforms

Things mostly went to script for Mississippi State in the first day of the MLB draft. Will Bednar went #14 to San Francisco. Signee Maddux Bruns went later in the first to the LA Dodgers. On this special episode of the From The Back Fields to The Bronx podcast, we get you set for the 2021 MLB Draft that begins tonight in Denver, Colorado. The Yankees will have the 20th pick and they do not pick that high in the draft usually, so it should make for an entertaining night. Managing editor Ricky Keeler and Hudson Valley Renegades beat writer/head scout Steve Alhona are your co-hosts for this show. They begin the episode by talking about the excitement over the 20th pick, the uncertainty of who they might take, and what are the organizational needs/positions they should address heading into this three-day process. After going over some of the prep school options, you will hear an encore presentation of our interview with Nathan Rode, the director of multimedia and scouting for Prep Baseball Report. Nathan gives his thoughts on the prep class, some options for the Yankees such as right-handers Andrew Painter and Chase Petty, left-hander Anthony Solometo, and outfielder Benny Montgomery among others. Then, the conversation shifts to the college class. Ricky and Steve debate whether the progress Clarke Schmidt has made should cause the Yankees to decide whether or not to pick Mississippi right-hander Gunnar Hoglund if he is on the board in Round 1. They go over names such as right-handers Gavin Williams and Will Bednar and Eastern Illinois infielder Trey Sweeney. The second interview will you hear is Ricky's conversation with Joe Doyle, the head of MLB Draft content for Prospects Live. Joe dives into what the Yankees might do in Round 1, some options in Round 2 as well, and we look at how the Yankees organization is viewed externally. Finally, Ricky and Steve give their Round 1 predictions, what defines a successful draft, and their non-Yankees storylines to watch. Be sure to keep it right here at Pinstriped Prospects for all of your Yankees MLB Draft coverage!

Mississippi State is heading to Nashville for a top 4 showdown between Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. All the talk apparently has been about only Vandy's two starters Kumar Rocker as Vandy's Friday night ace, and Jack Liter on Saturday starter on the mound. Vanderbilt is an excellent team, and rightfully so. They are the defending National champs, BUT this Mississippi State program has a nack for showing up big in big time moments such as these this weekend. Make no mistake about it Mississippi State is going to Vanderbilt to win this series PERIOD!!! State is playing confidently having won 11/12, and 8/9 conference games. Mississippi State's starting pitching with Christian Macleod, Will Bednar, can match up well with Kumar, and Jack. Sunday I believe heavily favors the Dawgs. I believe Mississippi State will secure one of these first two games, and setting up Mississippi State to win the series on Sunday if not on Saturday for Mississippi State. Mississippi State is a top 4 team, a College World Series expected team, and a National Championship contender. Mississippi State is expected to go win this series, why? Mississippi State EXPECTS TOO!!! Mississippi State is going to Nashville to win this series against Vanderbilt, point, blank, period, THE END!!! #M OVER S --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/michael-taylor11/support
Mississippi State came into this series with so much hype surrounding this series with Ole Miss in the college baseball world. Mississippi State had the stage set, and ready for SUPER BULLDOG WEEKEND!!! Mississippi State would pack the house as it was an announced attendance of 10,291 which was not at all accurate! I can assure you that there was at least 12,500 at the game last night, and possibly even more than 13,000 at the ballgame. That atmosphere was rockin!!! Bulldog Ace Christian Macleod would absolutely deal and give you an ace like effort, and go 5 innings pitched, then turn it over to Preston Johnson, and Fireball Simms to Close it out for Mississippi State!!! That atmosphere was so ready for this weekend, that fans of 6-8,000 were at the game in standing room only before 1 hour and a half before 1st pitch. Our people were ready to ROCK!!! Now Diamond Dogs will send Will Bednar to mound to get the series win for Mississippi State which is expected probably anywhere north of 14,000 today and possibly break the attendance record held by Mississippi State. Mississippi State is set, ready to rock it out and get the series today, and absolutely EXPLODE!!! #M OVER S --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/michael-taylor11/support
Mississippi State needed to get that first w in the series against Auburn as we all know how critical each game 1 of each series is. Christian Macleod would pitch well enough to get the win. Preston Johnson, Brandon Smith, and FireBall Sims would come in and seal the opener up for Mississippi State in a 6-5 opening series win for the Bulldogs. Game 2 today, Will Bednar and the Bulldogs look to lock up the series today. I expect the Bulldogs to come out and GET IT!!! Setting up for the huge Sweep possibility tomorrow with Fristoe on the mound. Bulldogs are in good shape to do so!!! Now, Diamond Dawgs go GET IT!!! #M OVER S --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/michael-taylor11/support
Mississippi State Baseball is set for such a HUGE WEEKEND AT THE DUDE!!! Big bands of Maroon and white are expected to show up and create the atmosphere, and the environment that makes us who we are known to be!!! Mississippi State is expected to win the series and have a chance to potentially sweep the Razorbacks. Imagine guys, how awesome it will be when the Diamond Dawgs take the field in front of the biggest crowd this year, and how loud it will be after we win Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and then just imagine the atmosphere going into Sunday ready to Sweep Arkansas! Mississippi State Baseball is in prime position to take out Arkansas Friday night with Christian Macleod, Saturday afternoon with Will Bednar, and have really, good opportunity with Jackson Fristoe on Sunday. Mississippi State is in prime position as a program getting where we have expected for quite some time. Coach Chris Lemonis has absolutely raised the power of our program to bigger, and better heights. Here's the thing about that it's only going to get even better for the Diamond Dawgs of Mississippi State! I expect Mississippi State to win this series, and take over the No. 1 spot in College Baseball!!! OMAHA, OMAHA, AND OMAHA!!! That's where are expected to be, and that's where we will be playing to win the National Championship at the College World Series!!! #M OVER S --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/michael-taylor11/support
Mississippi State opened up SEC play last night in Baton Rouge Louisiana at LSU. Christian Macleod would absolutely shine in Mississippi State's 6-1 win over the LSU Tigers. Macleod just had the tigers guessing, as he would 6 innings pitched striking out 9. Macleod would walk 2 and give up really, and truthfully 1 hit. That 1 run really was unearned, but that is how it was scored in the box score. Coach Lemonis would go to Brandon Smith in the 7th, and he would go the final 3 innings pitched. Smith for the night would strike out 3, get a lot of ground outs, and he would just strikes and get outs. In doing so he would finish the job and securing the opening win of SEC play on Friday night for Mississippi State. Bulldog pitching for the night would give up a total of 4 hits, walk 2, and strike out 12. When you are striking out almost half of the 27 outs recorded, your pitches are missing a lot of bats while securing a lot of strikeout, and pop ups. Mississippi State's bats would go for 11 hits, and register 9 of those on LSU starter Jaden Hill; who is projected to be a top 15 pick. Mississippi State had a lot of productive at bats, as even most of our outs were even solidly, hit balls. Bulldog hitting would strike out twice for the whole night, and that's a real impressive stat about our hitters. Mississippi State's hitters are doing an excellent job of putting solid contact on the ball, and putting the ball in play. Mississippi State's young new outfielder Brayland Skinner in the 5th inning, with the wind blowing in absolutely tanked one that still has not landed yet! That would get it going for the Bulldogs as they would 2-0, and take charge and go on to win over the tigers 6-1. Mississippi State will send Will Bednar to the mound today; as he will be making his first start of the season. He was expected to start the year in the rotation, but some tightness in his body slowed some things down for him to pitch. Coach Lemonis would ease him in an inning here, an inning there, two innings here, four innings here. Bednar has looked spectacular as he looks like now what we have been expecting to see, and waiting to see. I expect to come out today, stomp our M OVER S down LSU'S NECK AND DOWN THERE THROAT, AS I EXPECT THE BULLDOGS TO WIN THE SERIES TONIGHT!!! GO FOR THAT SWEEP TOMORROW AFTER OUR SERIES WIN TONIGHT!!! #M OVER S --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/michael-taylor11/support
Mississippi State headed out to Arlington Texas for the State Farm College Baseball Showdown, and they did not disappoint. Diamond Dawg Ace Christian Macleod had an ace like performance against the No. 9 Texas Longhorns, and fireballer Landon Simms the strike out king bit Texas into as the diamond dawgs would win 8-3! Mississippi State would face No. 10 TCU in Sunday's game without Saturday weekend pitcher Will Bednar, who had suffered some tightness in his neck that morning. The result, bulldogs would lose a tough, tight 3-2 match as the bulldogs basically played not their best at all, and loaded the bases with one out with a chance to win it. The effort fell short, but a lot of good learned lessons from that game got learned and earned. Make way into game 3 of the weekend against No. 3 Texas Tech. Mississippi State knew they would be without Cerantola for that game. This game would be the test of a good team, to a great team, then determining the elite team. That meaning Great teams, but a great team can get lead when trailing, but an elite team can get the lead back when they had lost it. Mississippi State did all that and more in this contest as the Bulldogs would go onto beat the No.3 Texas Tech Red Raiders 11-5!! So, all in all a fantastic opening weekend for Mississippi State. If you had told Coach Lemonis before weekend not knowing that two of his weekend starters in the pitching rotation would not pitch and Mississippi State would win two games, he would have taken it in a heartbeat. Now, throw in the fact that those two weekend pitchers would not pitch and Mississippi State still go 2-1 against the 3 top 10 teams he would have said youre probably too confident and screaming for JOY!!! Folks Mississippi State is GOOD!!!!! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/michael-taylor11/support
