After scoring just three runs over the first two games of the series, Pittsburgh broke through for eight runs and 13 hits in an 8-6 win over the Rockies to avoid a sweep in Colorado. Nick Gonzales got the offense rolling with a two-run homer, Bryan Reynolds continued his outstanding June with a three-run blast, and contributions came throughout the lineup from Jake Mangum, Jared Triolo, Tyler Callihan, and Spencer Horwitz. Jared Jones exited after three innings when a comebacker struck his elbow, but the bullpen initially answered the call. Yohan Ramirez and Evan Sisk combined for four scoreless innings before Dennis Santana and Gregory Soto made things much more interesting late.
