Em jeito de balanço da época começamos a olhar para o desempenho dos jogadores e equipas da NBA, iniciando na época dos rookies deste ano. If anyone outside of the clubhouse has their finger on the pulse of the Pittsburgh Pirates, it's long time play by play announcer Greg Brown. We are fortunate to have him join us on this episode to take a peek into the 2025 Pirates. With few roster roster and coaching changes can we expect much of the same or does one of the best young pitching staffs in baseball lead by All Rookie of the Year and CY Young candidate Paul Skenes take this team to a level they have not seen since 2013-2015. Lets jump right into the off season, the team spent under 12 million dollars to fill spots that were in need. Did they really address these needs with upgrades when all they did were 1 year deals with aging veterans or guys looking for an opportunity? Who would you say is the most important acquisition of the off season? Spencer Horwitz was traded for in a 3 team deal to be a mainstay hopefully at first base. Coming in, Ben Cherrington knew that a wrist injury has been an issue. Why did he make the deal and if so why give up so much starting with Luis Ortiz? With Horwitz out now, who will play first base in his absence? What is the timeline from his return and what can the Pirates expect from him. Recently, the Pirates signed Tommy Pham, a 37 year old journeyman outfielder. Why? He has a history and a not so favorable one at that. What role does Isiah Kiner-Falefa play on the 2025 Pirates? He has been known predominantly as a highly productive utility player but word on the street is that he could be the everyday shortstop and that's not his strong suit. Where will the power source come from with this team? Andrew McCutcheon at 38 years old and Bryan Reynolds could be two sources. Before we move on to the pitching staff, share what you believe will be the most days starting 8 (I know Shelton has his Sunday lineup). Paul Skenes is a generational player. What can Pirate fans expect next from him after he was an All-Star, Rookie of the Year and a Cy Young candidate in his ¾ of a season. Can Jared Jones maintain his #2 role? It looks like he will be needed to replicate his success from last year or will Mitch Keller swap spots with him to alleviate some of the pressure and innings. Please project the starting five pitchers. How did the Pirates help their bullpen? Will Bednar and Holderman bounce back from somewhat disappointing seasons and what makes you believe that? You've been around Pirate baseball for 31 years, why should fans trust that this team is going to be different based on what they know from the off season and past recent seasons. Are Derek Shelton and Ben Cherrington sitting on hot seats? Instead of predicting a record lets say will they be over or under 82 wins this season? Also, they preview what expects to be a competitive series between the Wolves and Mavs, debate whether the Pacers can make the Eastern Conference finals interesting against the Celtics, and applaud this year's rookie class after the league announced its All-Rookie teams (41:18). 0:00 ... Ross hello and welcome, introduces fellow co-hosts Bruce and "World B." 0:38 ... Episode #103 honors Jaden McDaniels of Minnesota, who wears uniform #3. 0:53 ... Live commercial read for Bet Online. 1:26 ... Ross tees up the discussion of the Pacers winning game 7 against the Knicks on Sunday. 3:56 ... Bruce felt that nobody could have anticipated the way the Pacers offense performed. 6:02 ... World B has a stat on Indiana's offense on Sunday that is remarkable. 6:50 ... Ross delivers flowers to TJ McConnell, whose play off the bench was a huge factor for Indiana. 7:31 ... Ross tees up a discussion previewing the Pacers/Celtics series and wonders if a Boston team missing Kristaps Porzingis can handle Indiana's Myles Turner, who has been a huge factor at both ends of the court. 10:05 ... Ross expects a fast paced series and World B feels like bettors should take "the overs." 12:30 ... Bruce feels that "The Wardens" (Jrue Holiday and Derrick White) will be Boston's secret weapons against the young Pacers guards (Andrew Nembhard and Tyrese Haliburton). He is also excited to watch the individual matchup between Jayson Tatum and Pascal Siakam. 13:50 ... Ross wonders if Boston's ball movement will suffer if they try to hunt mismatches but Bruce feels Jaylen Brown will be unstoppable and will likely be Boston's leading scorer against the Pacers. 15:48 ... World B says there is more pressure on Boston than on any other team and if they are locked up in a tight battle, will they be able to respond successfully? World B feels they will. 17:04 ... Bruce feels that Jrue Holiday's presence and calming influence will be a difference maker in "late game" situations for the Celtics. World B feels Jayson Tatum will improve his shooting the rest of the way after shooting just 28% from downtown through the first two rounds. 18:56 ... Predictions ... everyone picks Boston 19:15 ... Ross tees up the game 7 discussion on Timberwolves/Nuggets from Sunday ... Bruce feels that Denver depended too much on Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray and Minnesota shut everyone else down. 21:20 ... World B takes a bow as he was very high on Minnesota all season long. The way the Wolves shut down Denver's offense was unbelievable. 23:24 ... As great as Jokic is, he did not "come up big" late in the game and may have been worn down by Minnesota's bigs. The Wolves dominated at the free throw line because their aggressive play caused them to get more whistles from the refs. 26:02 ... Ross points out how Mike Conley of the Wolves is a huge factor in organizing the team and making huge shots in clutch situations. 27:20 ... Ross initiates the discussion on the Mavs/Wolves series ... Bruce feels Luka Doncic will "do Luka things," but Kyrie Irving needs to be more like the guy who played against the Clippers in round one and less like the Kyrie who played against OKC in round two. 28:37 ... Ross asks World B if the Dallas frontcourt has the physical toughness to rebound effectively against the Wolves. 30:31 ... Bruce feels that the three Minnesota bigs will be too much for the young Dallas Bigs. PJ Washington has also been a huge factor for the Mavs. 31:52 ... Predictions ... everyone chooses Minnesota 35:09 ... Bruce's one liner is on the extra 48 Minutes shows this week 36:10 ... World B's one liner is on ESPN's coverage of Pacers/Knicks game 7 and how is was tough to watch. 39:28 ... Ross's one liner congratulates Brandin Podziemski and GG Jackson for making the two All-Rookie teams. 40:18 ... Ross says goodbye TRT 40:32
