Everyone's a critic, but that doesn't make them immune to criticism. From the famously wrong slams on beloved and iconic movies and music, to the humble user reviews of a Chili’s appetizer, Scott Janovitz and Greg Conley take on the hot takes from professionals and amateurs alike.

You can now listen to season 7 of Disgraceland in its entirety with episodes on Gram Parsons, the Ramones, Lil Wayne, the New York Dolls, Lil Peep, a previously unheard two-parter on Tupac, a two-parter on Biggie, a two-parter on Oasis, and a two-parter on the Beatles. No musical artist better personified the hedonism of the '70s than David Bowie. He captivated the imaginations of music fans all over the world with a dizzying array of creative alter egos; Major Tom, Ziggy Stardust and the Thin White Duke among them, and his obsession with occultist Aleister Crowley drove him down a dark, excessive hole filled with cocaine, orgies, arrests, fascism, death and madness that very nearly destroyed him. Hi, Citizen Critic fans! We think you'll love the new season of Blood on the Tracks, which takes a deep dive into the life of Brian Wilson. You don't have to take our word for it, though. Check out the trailer and decide for yourself! About the show: In 1966, Brian Wilson planned to follow up the Beach Boys' groundbreaking album Pet Sounds with an even bigger musical statement. He was writing a teenage symphony to God. That album, Smile, was never finished. Instead, Brian slowly unraveled, as the pressure to make something profound weighed heavy on him. He worried that he wasn't good enough. He worried that he was a failure in the eyes of the record company, his band, his peers, and his own father. He thought his house was bugged. He thought the music he was making conjured some strange voodoo that had a disastrous impact on the real world. He became paranoid. He self-medicated with amphetamines, hash, and LSD. He held meetings in his swimming pool. He imagined people who weren't there. And eventually, in 1967, he went off the proverbial deep end. Did the real Brian Wilson ever resurface? Part true crime, part historical fiction, part spoken word lo-fi beat noir brought to you by Jake Brennan, and featuring the fictionalized voice Brian Wilson, BLOOD ON THE TRACKS sounds like nothing you've heard before. Because you can't push the needle into the red without leaving a little blood on the tracks. Hey, Citizen Critic fans! Listen to Season 5 of the 27 Club to hear the insane details behind the life of one of rock's greatest icons — Ron "Pigpen" McKernan. A founding member of the Grateful Dead. Pigpen wasn't just a member of the Dead. He was the Dead. But just like Brian Jones in the Rolling Stones or Syd Barrett in Pink Floyd, Pigpen felt his role in the Grateful Dead shrink as the rest of the band members expanded their minds and their sound. The story of Pigpen is about a major musical and cultural shift that took place as the 1960s gave way to the 1970s. It's a story of acid tests and bottles of Thunderbird, of angels from hell and a nine-fingered wizard, of busts down on Bourbon Street and shakedowns in the Haight…and of the man who tried to pull his band back down to earth as they continued to get pulled higher into the cosmos. It's a story that ends tragically...at the age of 27. Listen and subscribe to 27 Club on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We're back, it's a Christmas Miracle. In this very special episode, we get into some wild takes on the Frank Capra classic It's A Wonderful Life. Even wilder is a vicariously disappointing visit to Seneca Falls, said to be the inspiration for Bedford Falls.
In the summer of 1969, people all over the world were gripped by space fever in the wake of NASA’s Apollo 11 mission, which would successfully land men on the moon. The epic tale of Mötley Crüe. Terrible people, doing terrible things, while making terrible music. Some reviewers go looking for substance here and are presumably never heard from again. We also get into some reviews of Sunset Strip hotspots and fan feedback on scented "Crüe Candles."
This is a pretty decent biopic about The Runaways, the '70s all-female glam punk band that included Joan Jett, Cherie Currie, and Lita Ford. But this true tale of teenage desperation, exploitation, and identity reinvention is just too much happy fluff for some reviewers.
Full disclosure, we did not care for this film upon re-watching, and we have some harsh words for Jim Morrison based on its characterization. Blame Oliver Stone, not us. Reviews of the Père Lachaise cemetery reveal Doors fans resenting Doors fans, and someone freaks out at the Whisky a Go Go.
Wrapping up the MCU three-fer. This movie is like a Magic Eye painting. You either see it or you don't. Reviews of the film lead us to ponder such zen questions as "How are the jokes supposed to be funny if I can't laugh at them?"
MCU power block #2. Reviews of Iron Man 3 include theater-specific events such as a man having a heart attack, and a mouse struggling with a cracker. A mom reviewing Iron Man action figures makes a case for affirmative action for boys.
This movie requires some suspension of disbelief. While we had some issues like "where did he learn to fly planes," others drew the line at "why does Hitler let Hydra walk all over him?" Everyone's got their limit. Over on Amazon, "Fat Teddy" has some things to say about a Captain America shield.
L.A. Weekly says more like "limp soft." Cutting. Incisive. Some people had a rough time of it trying to visit the museum dedicated to Johnny Cash, the primary inspiration for Dewey Cox, as well as Sun Studio.
We grapple with the beauty and pain of Purple Rain, including the film's faint whiff of misogyny, The Kid's incredible bedroom, Apollonia's 'set,' and Morris Day's braaassss waterbeeeeed. Users review Paisley Park and First Avenue.
Kicking off a POWER BLOCK of movies about fictional musicians, it's Almost Famous, a film that doesn't represent the dizzying highs and terrifying lows of the '70s as well as, say, Jacob's Ladder, according to one reviewer. We also check out some reviews of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Pamela DesBarres groupie memoir I'm With The Band.
For the late, great Fred Willard. The third and final installment in our mockumentary series, Best In Show. We'll hear all about the noble art of dog breeding in one user review, and some dissatisfied pet grooming customers tell us what went wrong in troubling detail.
Mocumentary Week 2! Never stop never stopping. A user review of the Lonely Island film includes a fantasy of mass death for "liberofascists." A viewer of the Justin Bieber documentary is not impressed with selling out Madison Square Garden(s).
Documentary? One reviewer doesn't even think this is a real band. A review of Stonehenge tips us off to the existence of "Woodhenge."
The L.A. Times wonders if Die Hard With A Vengeance could tone it down just a touch. One woman loses her sunglasses during a "business meeting" in the Central Park Ramble. And a Yelp reviewer recounts a harrowing childhood memory from Yankee Stadium.
Variety explains the joke and kills the comedy. Also, apothecaries! Nipple shields! Motels from hell!
Make it heavier, darker, and with more plot twists, and maybe this critic would have liked That Thing You Do! We check out the sights in Erie, PA. And is Tom Hanks a serial killer? Probably not, but maybe?
The hero we deserve, not the one we need. Hey, how about a review of Tiger King from a parenting angle? We need convincing to not watch this with kids. Greg takes some controversial stances. A Big Cat Rescue tour guide has no patience for your children
Celebrating the impending return of Kids In The Hall, Scott and Greg look back at their 1996 film Brain Candy. Amazon users review a placebo pill; others are down on penicillin.
A serious film scholar takes a dignified approach to Return of the Jedi, walking right into the center of the Citizen Critic sweet spot. An NYC bus service gets dinged one star for a minor infraction, and Scott and Greg learn the subtle differences between Chinese and American zoos.
An Australian review of Ford Vs. Ferrari prompts some hard truths about Scott and Greg's talent for accents. Later, a reviewer wants to know whatever became of an old-timey Daytona driver.
Greg and Scott read a Fox News review of Frozen. Greg declares himself mayor of "The Fro-zone." Elsa wigs aren't doing it for some Amazon reviewers, and the fellas confess some controversial music opinions.
As Stephen King's The Outsider wraps up its run on HBO, Greg and Scott look back at Stanley Kubrick's version of The Shining, read some reviews of King's original novel, and check into the hotel that inspired The Overlook. Scott sees an analogy to the film in Greg's account of playing Luigi's Mansion 3 for Nintendo Switch.
Finding The Irishman less than re-watchable, Scott and Greg revisit Martin Scorsese's Casino and are surprised to discover that it, too, was met with middling reviews. A cheap hotel/casino in Las Vegas does nothing for one lodger's sense of self, though another finds comfort in its, uh, hourly patrons.
Scott and Greg dissect critic Rex Reed's deliriously bad take on Once Upon A Time...In Hollywood. Some diners are unimpressed with Muso & Frank's Steakhouse, which is featured in the film, as is El Coyote restaurant, where one couple sampled some uncooked chicken with predictable results.
With the release of the Harley Quinn movie Birds of Prey and Joker's night at the Oscars, Scott and Greg discuss a review of 1989's Batman, find some interesting DVD and product reviews, and make some Oscar predictions of their own.
Starting February 10th, join musician Scott Janovitz and scientist Greg Conley as they critique the critics of some favorite and iconic movies, music, television, and more. In a world where everyone’s a critic, two heroes will rise, and criticize them.
