Roxie and I sat down to talk about the events that have occurred during our tender years. Please remember that, after years of care for her mother Zelma, her mother passed away on April 13, 2023. This was recorded as Roxie is in the early stages of her grief for her mother. We hope to get together soon to discuss our opinions of the '70's, a pivotal period for women, women who STILL do NOT have equal rights in the United States of America's Constitution. Sabrina Bonett is just an awesome lady, her story is incredible.. Like she went from a retail clerk to joining the Navy.. And to this day she just keeps giving back to our youth, to educate and direct them to the possibilities to become better citizens. She mentioned several organizations that she is involved with to assist our youth to find their paths in their lives. She is active in bringing diversity into every company that she works for AND we are working on creating a podcast that she can be a future podcast host on, which will allow me/us to bring more information to our listeners. So, as I explained earlier in my last podcast, my struggle with Long CV.... with a new host coming on board, I am hoping to get back on track to providing valuable information to our listeners. I was unable to link her valuable informational links to this podcast, but we all have smart phones and I hope yall can jot down the the groups that she has mentioned in this podcast and find out more information on them.... Notwithstanding, she will be co-hosting with me and I am slowly getting my strenght back so that maybe I can be better at posting links in the future..... I met with Ginger recently to get an update on her campaign for Missouri House District 156. We discussed local issues as well as what she has been doing lately with her campaign. Ginger's opponent, the incumbent Brian Seitz, Co-sponsored two devastating Bills in Missouri which are now Missouri Law. 1. The Abortion trigger ban that included no exceptions for ectopic pregnancies, which gave us national attention and Brian had to be schooled on what ectopic pregnancies are. This was amended out of the bill. 2. The school voucher program for Missouri students who live in cities with a population of 30,000 or more. Branson has a population of 12,883 and a poverty level of 22.3%, according to the census. Hollister, another District 156 town has a population of 4,564 and a poverty level of 11.8% (2021 census). I am not sure why Mr. Seitz would co-sponsor and education bill that would take more money away from District 156 school budgets and yet none of the children in District 156 qualify for the private schools. I struggled with a name for this Podcast. I feel blessed that Battlefield MO retired teacher and new Author, Debra Waldon Davis drove all the way out to my farm to Co-Host this one with me. What can I say? Missouri is hell bent on making Missouri the Dumb and Dumber state, so much for the Show Me State. In this Podcast Debra and Cass discuss the books that the Nixa Mo School is now tasked to review and restrict and or ban 16 books. And while I state numerous times that I was unable to read the books prior to the Podcast, I checked with 2 online book review sites to get the gist of what the books are about. And while discussing the list of books, Debra and I created an acronym for the group of People, organizations, churches or cults who felt that these 16 books were just beyond acceptable to be see, heard about and or read, 17 POCC (pronounced poke). Ya'll know that you can reach out to me at: comingoutofthekitchenpod@gmail.com or COOK'nPolitics@gmail.com to share your opinions and or thoughts about my podcasts. Honoring and incredible woman, Patsy Takemoto Mink, during Women's History Month. I am in Awe at the challenges she faced, her strength to face them, her amazing accomplishments. She didn't let racism, male chauvinism, gender bias or dirty backroom tricks hold her back or stop her from achieving the goals she set out to accomplish. Born in Hawaii, her father, a civil engineer, her mother a stay-at-home mom, Patsy set out into the world with the determination to accomplish all of her goals! I had some glitches, along with my struggle to pronounce some names, and again, somehow Patsy became "Cathy", wierd.... but I have to say, I am so glad I stumbled upon Patsy Mink, she is someone I could only strive to be like.
