Amanda shares how she went from an anxious, type A planning controller to having no plan at all and just putting out fires each day by dealing with what was most urgent to where she is now - planning, but learning to hold those plans loosely and under God's good authority. Amanda mentions a 12-step program she took through her church called Re:generation Recovery. If you are interested in learning more about that or participating in it you can find that information here. There are locations throughout the United States that host these groups, so there may be one near you. Amanda also mentions the Pareto Principle, or the 80/20 rule. A more detailed description of that can be found here. The three questions Amanda asks herself when she sits down to plan are: 1. What should be on my to-do list? 2. What can I delegate? 3. Where can I ask for help? She also said, "When I sit down to plan, I want to pray." This is something I am going to work on doing - praying as I plan.

In today's episode Scharlee and Emily discuss the thing that everyone knows, but we really don't necessarily want to talk about - how everyone has experienced loss in 2020, and that is making the holidays harder. Emily and Scharlee talk about why loss is difficult, the stages of grief, what to do with feelings of grief and loss during the holidays, and what NOT to say to people who are experiencing feelings of loss and grief. We also talk about how to be a safe person for those around us who are walking through grief and loss and mention creative ways people have cared for us and that we've been able to care for others. Hopefully after listening, you feel encouraged to know that you are not alone. This year has been hard. And it's okay to feel that way during the holidays. We are rooting for you this holiday season and we love you all! Thanks for listening! The websites we mention are: https://www.garyroe.com/ tandem.coach https://www.griefshare.org/
