She has shepherded me – and countless other women and families - through some pretty traumatic medical hurdles, and she is talking all things perimenopause with me this week in the studio. She's dishing about hormonal changes, misconceptions about treatments – especially hormone therapy - and how to manage symptoms like weight gain, hot flashes, low libido and mood shifts. You'll never believe how helpful something as simple as Vitamin D3 is – or watching your alcohol, sugar and caffeine intake! There's no one-size-fits-all approach but she definitely shares some action items. Most importantly, we talk about how self-compassion plays a role in these changes. Initially focused on conceptual models, they now also create prototypes. They find models give more creative freedom. They value fiction for its own sake, not just for discussing the future or selling concepts. **Teaching Speculative Design** Dunne and Raby direct the Design Reality Studio at Parsons, teaching posthumanism, quantum theory and designed realities. Carissa Bleecker is a wife, mother, and cofounder of a nonprofit organization called McKinney Roots. MR donates thousands of pounds of fresh produce, eggs, and honey to food banks in the McKinney, Texas area. And all this started because God planted an idea in the hearts of Carissa and her friend Michelle to use their personal gardens to help feed the food insecure in their community.
