This podcast is my pursuit to bring all things cannabis into the mainstream. To break through the stigma and show everyone the myriad of ways cannabis can unlock their true potential that has been within them all along. Drawing from decades of restaurant experience, I am able to look through a culinary lens at the complexity and opportunities of the cannabis plant. We will explore THC and CBD and all the other 111 cannabinoids. You'll learn about your Endocannabinoid System (ECS), discover terpenes and the unlimited combination of synergistic effects they offer. Learn from heritage farmers how to grow regeneratively. Growing up in the Napa Valley opened my eyes to the craft of wine making and the true impact of terroir and natural farming practices. This level of craft is in its infancy in Cannabis. Lets change that together!

Congratulations you've made it to flowering! Harvest is right around the corner. Time to get your dry room in order. In episode 30: I got to have a conversation with Cory Russell about the cannabis industry and setting up your dry room for success. Setting up your dry room for success is a step not to skip or cut corners.  You've worked your ass off to get to this point. Believe me there is nothing worse than spending 6 months growing just to have dry weed that smells like hay. There are a lot of gems intwined in a conversation between two dudes in the cannabis industry. But I hope you find our past successes and failures and learn from them. I know I learned a TON! In Episode 29: I had the absolute pleasure of having a conversation with Wade Laughter. For those that don't know. Wade is responsible for saving one of our most cherished cannabinoids Cannabidiol aka CBD. His cannabis journey was one that has touched so many but none more than Wade himself. He is a true cannabis pioneer and I am honored to have been able to spend an hour with him. In this episode you'll hear the origin story of Harlequin. It's fascinating to hear how CBD was introduced into our lives. But then we get into growing cannabis. The benefits of starting with good genetics, making sure you have nice layers of mulch. Then onto Companion Planting: Wade gives wonderful suggestions for companion planting such as clover, rubella, elome. It is wonderful to hear such nurture and care that go into Wade's growing ethos. Truly humbling, exciting and motivating. Forever grateful for having the chance to speak with Wade. Thank you for everything you have done for the world in saving Harlequin. In Episode 28: I had a great conversation with Joshua Mezher about taking care of our favorite plant cannabis. He gives a lot of amazing history of the plant and great advice. But as usual we always get to the same point of "less is more and don't over water". Biggest take away for me: Remove the lower large water fan leaves.  Use string or garden ties to extend the lower branches and put some pressure on the branch without breaking the branch. It will let the branch reach for more light and along with removing fan leaves which allows more air flow. Thanks for your time Joshua!RESOURCES: Personal Grow WebsiteMUST WATCH INFORMERCIAL | A Pot for Pot

In Episode 27: I had a sparkly conversation with Johanna Silver. Her background at Sunset magazine and her approach to gardening was fantastic. She was clear to make a point that it's just another plant. To use her own words: "It's fine. If it all goes wrong, you just do it again next year. The definition of a gardener is not someone who gets it. Right. It's like, if you screw it up and you still keep going, then congratulations. You're a gardener. You know, like that's, that's all, that's all it is. You just, you have a passion for the process. It sort of doesn't even matter what the final outcome is."BUT there is one specific outlier to the cannabis plant. SEXING: also known as Sensimilla which means “without seeds”. The term was coined in the 1970s on the west coast to describe seedless cannabis flowers that come from unfertilized female plants, specifically used to imply a high-THC-potency product. Sexing your plants to determine male from female is an integral step in producing seedless high cannabinoid plants. Males can be stored  in a closed environment for breeding. BUT...if this is your first year lets focus on growing healthy females. Johanna shared the difference between male and female. Luckily it is very similar to human anatomy. The Male has pollen sacks that are in a ball shape. Caution: your plants in their earlier weeks may all look like they are female. It takes time for the plant to reach the human  equivalent of puberty. Hope you enjoy this fantastic conversation with Johanna!Listen in on ClubHouse in the Personal Plant room to our Live Q&A with Johanna Silver on Wednesday August 4th @ 3pm.

“BRANDING BUD: THE COMMERCIALIZATION OF CANNABIS” RELEASESTHE FIRST BOOK TO EXPLORE THE LEGAL CANNABIS BRAND LANDSCAPEWe are excited to announce the release of branding and marketing expert David Paleschuck's highly anticipated book“Branding Bud: The Commercialization Of Cannabis” (www.brandingbud.com). The publication is a compelling must-read that digs deep into the ever-changing cannabis industry to uncover what brands of all sizes are doing to introduce their products to the hearts and minds of cannabis consumers. With the global legal cannabis market valued at US$17.7 billion in 2019, it is expected to grow exponentially and projected to reach US$73.6 billion in 2027. Celebrities, athletes, politicians, and large corporations alike are investing and competing in this fast-paced industry. Leveraging the most up-to-date industry research, Paleschuck takes a critical look at the current state of legal US cannabis products, packaging, and consumption.“My intent in writing the book is to normalize how we look at cannabis as a nation, and as consumers. Never before has a plant been so misunderstood; and those associated with it, so mistreated. As legalization continues, it's my hope that we'll look at cannabis and cannabis consumers in a new and different way”, says Paleschuck.Published by legendary cannabis expert Ed Rosenthal's publishing house, Quick American Publishing, the first-of-its-kind book also breaks new territory, offering a comprehensive overview and contextualization of this new segment, examining the multitude of emerging brands, their creative assets, and the strategies behind them. “Branding Bud” touches upon the political and legal history of cannabis; consumer segments and means of consumption; and how that has informed the legal cannabis brand landscape developing today.“Branding Bud” also answers the questions “Who exactly is the cannabis consumer? What's their lifestyle(s)? What brands speak to them? Is there just one type of cannabis consumer? Are the images of the same celebrities stereotyping cannabis smokers? And to push even further, is ‘smoking' itself a stereotype of cannabis consumption?”“Branding Bud: The Commercialization Of Cannabis” will launch globally on April 20, 2021 and is currently available for pre-order on AMAZON (Link to purchase HERE).WHAT THE EXPERTS ARE SAYING ABOUT THE BOOK“This book provides an indispensable perspective for entrepreneurs, brand creators, and marketers as they get ready to establish themselves in this very promising industry.”Brian Wansolich, Co-Founder, Leafly and Headset
