Alexandra Toftmark lebt ihren Traum in Schweden. Die Bernerin hat ihre Karriere als Rechtsanwältin für die Liebe eingetauscht und ist vor zwei Jahren nach Schweden gezogen. Mit ihrem schwedischen Mann lebt sie in der kleinen Stadt Ulricehamn und engagiert sich mit Herzblut als Seeretterin. Schon als kleines Mädchen träumte Alexandra Toftmark davon, irgendwann Mal nach Schweden auszuwandern. Inspiriert wurde sie von Astrid Lindgrens Kinderserie «Wir Kinder aus Bullerbü»: «Ich war fasziniert von den Kindern, die ihre langen Sommerferien auf dem idyllischen Land verbringen.» Nach ihrem Jurastudium an der Universität Bern machte Alexandra Karriere bei der Berner und Stadtzürcher Polizei – doch Schweden blieb stets in ihrem Herzen. Sie lernte die Sprache, reiste immer wieder quer durch Skandinavien und vertiefte ihre Verbindung zum Norden. Ihren schwedischen Mann Anders lernte sie bei einem Besuch bei Schweizer Freunden kennen, die ein Ferienhaus in Varberg besitzen. «Er war ihr Nachbar und ein guter Freund.» Vor zwei Jahren ist Alexandra Toftmark zu ihm nach Schweden ausgewandert. Mit dem Landeswechsel kam auch ein Berufswechsel. Heute arbeitet Alexandra als Deutschlehrerin und ist mit Herzblut Seeretterin der Swedish Sea Rescue Society. «Die Seenotrettung ist tief verankert in der schwedischen Kultur» Alexandra Toftmark liess sich in Schweden zur Seeretterin ausbilden. Seither rettet sie Menschen, die in Seenot geraten sind: «Das Gewässer hier wird oft unterschätzt.» In Schweden ist die Seenotrettung tief verankert: «Es ist wie die Rega in der Schweiz und wird von Spendengeldern finanziert.»
