It's been a busy couple weeks and you know I've gotta tell you about it. First off, the boys had a taekwondo tournament a few weeks ago. And, despite not coming home with nearly as many medals as some other recent tournaments, we were more proud of them all than probably any other tournament day before strictly becasue of their great attitudes. Then, watch out, a new "man hobby" has entered the field in the form of smoking meats. We have purchased a smoker, and I got to cook up my very first batch of smoked chicken this last weekend. A lot of lessons were learned, but the food was nevertheless amazing.-Support The Show-Leave Me a Voicemail (516) 636-7631 (ODO-POD1)Join the Facebook Group Oddballs: Friends of The Odd Dad OutBuy Me A CoffeeVisit The ODO ShopTwitter @OdddadoutFacebook @OddadoutInstragram @Odddadout
Not much going on this week besides me spending way more time than usual baking bread and watching nerdy TV. In my defense, the baking is my wife's fault. She asked me to make bread. The nerd bit is totally on me. I started watching Star Trek: Picard. In the news, we're going to court for some really stupid reasons.Full Show Notes at https://odddadoutpodcast.com/im-a-giant-bread-making-nerd-odo-231-Support The Show-Leave Me a Voicemail (516) 636-7631 (ODO-POD1)Join the Facebook Group Oddballs: Friends of The Odd Dad OutBuy Me A CoffeeVisit The ODO ShopTwitter @OdddadoutFacebook @OddadoutInstragram @Odddadout
Lots of rambling to start off this time. I can't help it. I just have to tell you everything I've been up to since the last time I talked to you. A little bit about how my kidney problem affected my plasma donations. Some garden talk. A bit about grinding up brisket for hamburger. Ya know, my usual ramblings.I've got a couple quick "BS From The News" stories about some surprise cocaine, and about some government people getting sick in Ohio. And finally, I decided to change up my "Recommended Listening" segment and turn it more into a "what I've been watching" segment, starting with my recent rewatching of the classic sitcom, "Night Court."BS From The NewsGuy Finds $120K in Cocaine In Tire After Getting A Flat CDC Workers Get Sick While Investigating Illness Near East Palestine Train DerailmentWhat Am I Watching"Night Court""An eccentric fun-loving judge presides over an urban night court and all the silliness going on there."Watch "Night Court" on Freevee-Support The Show-Leave Me a Voicemail (516) 636-7631 (ODO-POD1)Join the Facebook Group Oddballs: Friends of The Odd Dad OutBuy Me A CoffeeVisit The ODO ShopTwitter @OdddadoutFacebook @OddadoutInstragram @Odddadout
It's been a while so this one is EXTRA LONG! I recently got my spring garden planted. This is my most intentional and, from an output perspective, ambitious planting yet. I got sidelined hard by a couple of kidney stones. Hope you're having a pleasant holiday season. It's been crazy busy around here as usual. We had a well executed, albeit tiring, Christmas, even if I did have a slight miscalculation in cooking Christmas dinner. We've been watching some new stuff over the holidays. I'm all over the place this week. But what's new about that? I'm finally doing our garage renovations. I'm scrambling to make french toast. I'm Live taste testing a Dreamworld Coca Cola. After surviving NAPODPOMO, I'm trying to get back into the swing of doing more of the regular segments. In the news I have a battle for who can be the biggest dumbass. Between stupid criminals, stupid lawsuits, and stupid scientists, I think you may have to decide, just who is the “Jackass of the Week.” Of course, I have my regular ramblings, but I don't have to tell you that, now do I?BS From The News-German Police Asking For Help Solving Bull Sperm TheftAuthorities in Berlin are asking for the public's help in locating approximately 60 containers of bull sperm stollen from a farm in Olfen.-Man Arrives To Court On Meth Charge, With Meth In His PocketA Chatanooga man was found to have a canister full of meth on him after tripping the metal detector at the court house, while he was entering to face charges of possession of meth.-Woman Sues Kraft Over Cook Time On Velveeta Microwave ShellsA Florida woman is suing Kraft Foods because the packaging on the Velveeta microwave shells and cheese does not account for prep time when claiming it can be ready in 3 1/2 minutes.-Scientists Have Revived an Ancient Zombie VirusA team of French scientists have revived a “zombie virus” that has been frozen in the Siberian permafrost for approximately 50,000 years.Join the Facebook Group Oddballs: Friends of The Odd Dad Outhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/odddadoutBuy Me A Coffeehttp://buymeacoffee.com/odddadoutFollow Along on Social athttps://www.twitter.com/odddadout/https://www.facebook.com/odddadout/https://www.instagram.com/odddadout
It's finally here!! We made it to day 30 of NAPODPOMO!! Here's what we did and hopefully where things will be going in the future.
It's Day 29 of NAPODPOMO and for my second to last day I've got another dose of "BS From The News."Oklahoma man arrested for shooting at family over drunken game of Monopoly.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11479097/Oklahoma-man-arrested-family-game-Monopoly-got-angry-started-shooting.html
It's Day 28 of NAPODPOMO and for some reason I spent today binging "Wednesday" on Netflix. I will say, I have my issues with it, but it's overall a good show. Looking forward to season 2.
For Day 27 of NAPODPOMO I am reading a book that holds a very special place in my heart, "I Had Trouble In Getting To Solla Sollew" by Dr. Seuss.I actually have a quote from this book tattooed on my side inspired by a major trauma that I experienced many years ago.(For more check out the episode: The Incident.)https://odddadoutpodcast.com/the-incident/
Day 26 of NAPODPOMO brings the long awaited return of "Bullshit From The News." Today I bring to you the tale of a stabbing over hotdog vendor turf outside a San Diego ballpark.https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/local/hot-dog-vendor-arrested-for-stabbing-hot-dog-vendor-outside-petco-park/509-287e0d17-716a-49c3-894b-17d115e15ee0
Sooooo that sinus infection hasn't gotten any better. As such I had to stay home from work today. But on the plus side, my wife and I got to check out the new remake of "The Oregon Trail" that just dropped on the Nintendo Switch. I'll just say it now, they managed to find the perfect balance between nostalgic and modern styles with this game.
I know I promised to read "The Stinky Cheese Man" today, but unfortunately I got hit with a Thanksgiving sinus infection. So instead, I just want to say thank you to each and every one of you out there listening to me and my randomness, especially through all of NAPODPOMO.
Since I read a more adult bedtime story earlier this week, for Day 23 of NAPODPOMO I'm reading, the more traditional classic bedtime story, "Goodnight Moon" by Margaret Wise Brown.Music: Relaxing Dreams by MusicLFilesFree download: https://filmmusic.io/song/6787-relaxing-dreamsLicense (CC BY 4.0): https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseArtist website: https://cemmusicproject.wixsite.com/musiclibraryfiles
I don't know why, but on Day 22 of NAPODPOMO I've been unnecessarily productive. Out of nowhere I decided not only to clean the garage, but to build my long waiting workbench. I also made our pies for Thanksgiving... All while I should have been sleeping.
In 21 days of NAPODPOMO I haven't really had any really random rambling days. I end up giving a rundown of my Thanksgiving menu, and spin the death of Power Rangers actor, Jason David Frank, into a secondary ramble about you the fans and my commitment to getting this show back on a regular schedule.
For Day 20 I bring to you one of the greatest bedtime stories ever written, "Go the Fuck To Sleep" by Adam Mansbach.
It's day 19 of NAPODPOMO and I figure I needed to provide another update on how my winter garden is doing since it's been a few weeks and some things have changed.
For day 18 of NAPODPOMO I am reading "The Very Thirsty Vampire" by Michael Teitelbaum.Buy it on Amazon https://a.co/d/20yWs07
It's day 17 of NAPODPOMO and I honestly can't believe I've made it this far. I think this is the longest I've gone without breaking the streak for NAPODPOMO in all the years I've tried. So here's an update on what I'm planning for the last two weeks of this challenge.
I've got another video game review for Day 16 of NAPODPOMO. Today I'm talking about "Yoshi's Crafted World" for the Nintendo Switch.
For day 15 of NAPODPOMO I'm answering a listener question pertaining to what types of games we enjoy as a family.
For Day 14 of NAPODPOMO I've got a semi-review of a video game that I just started playing, "Mario+ Rabbids: Kingdom Battle." Two thumbs up.
Last Friday the world lost two people who had a very profound impact on my childhood: Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman for over 30 years, and the comedian, Gallagher.
It's Day 12 of NAPODPOMO, and our Disney trip is over. Now it's time to drive back home. That is if we can actually make it back.
Day 11 of NAPODPOMO is all about our last and smoothest day at Disney, spent at the California Adventure park.
It's Day 10 of NAPODPOMO and we're talking about our second day at Disney and the Oogie Boogie Bash! Trick or treating, sassy villians, Halloween themed food, and an awesome villians parade. 10/10 Must go again
On Day 9 of NAPODPOMO, it's finally time to talk about our first day actually at Disneyland.
Today we're buying a roof rack, loading up my backpack, and driving to Anaheim. Along the way we find a town full of rocks, talk a whole lot of smack about California, and oh yeah, PASS AN ACTUAL VOLCANO!
I've been teasing it for a while, but I'm finally talking about our trip to Disneyland. And I'm making it last all week, starting with just how we managed to afford it.
Part of my job requires having to double as the day janitor for one of our buildings once a week. It's not hard work. That is, unless some SOB decides to dump a bunch of trash in the parking lot, and the property manager wants you to clean it up.
It's a busy weekend for me. Although I usually have to work on Saturdays, this weekend I also have podcast editing work to do, and this time it's on a crunch.
Since I haven't taken about it in a few months, for Day 4, it's a good old fashioned garden update. Sooooo... Of course it's longer than every other day so far...
Don't get scared, I'm not tapping out already. But man, Thursdays are rough. It is just the day in my work week where I have nothing left and need to recharge. Add in that my youngest is home sick today and you've got an exceptionally sleepy podcaster.
Today I watched the classic Billy Crystal movie, City Slickers for the first time in at least 10 years. It really takes me back to my childhood. Easily one of my all time favorite movies.Check it out on Netflix.
I've been out for a while and I'm using national podcast post month to try and jump back into the podcast.Full transparency, I'm doing all of these raw straight to my phone with no editing or post production and improvised music cues. The plan is to just do a quick in and out story every day to get back into the groove of podcasting and to not take up too much of your valuable time.
The snowball that is my train of thought is all over the place this week. Why is it I keep starting off by talking about the weather? Of course, this rolls into a little chat about the side effects of having such an active monsoon season, like my yard getting overgrown and the damage on our local tree population. Naturally, this rolls into garden talk and about how it's almost September and that it's been nearly a year with my truck and we're still working on getting things fixed to get it legal in this state. Talk of fixing the truck then turns to why our garage renovations have been delayed and how my wife keeps buying hanging racks for me to install in the garage. With one of those shelf purchases she also bought me my very first KitchenAid stand mixer, which of course gets me talking about pizza and baking cookies. Then the snowball starts rolling back into the garage renovations and about tools for doing it, but that is dependent on getting the truck fixed so I can finish clearing it all out. But first things first, I have to get the back yard cleaned up so I can start planting my fall garden. In a modified "Recommended Listening" segment, I talk about some TV that I've been watching lately including "Harley Quinn" on HBO Max and Letterkenny on Hulu. I've also recently checked out the new podcast from, friend of the show, Paul Csomo, "Avast." If you are familiar with the "Varmints" podcast, imagine that style but talking about pirates. There aren't a lot of episodes yet, so I will reserve a full review for later.Join the Facebook Group Oddballs: Friends of The Odd Dad Outhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/odddadoutBuy Me A Coffeehttp://buymeacoffee.com/odddadoutFollow Along on Social athttps://www.twitter.com/odddadout/https://www.facebook.com/odddadout/https://www.instagram.com/odddadout
After the topic of my truck dying leads to a longer than expected chat about the weather, namely the recent monsoon storms. I've got an update on how my boys did at the ATA Taekwondo World Championships. Later on, I get into my recent feelings of nostalgia over a home from my childhood and how I hold a completely unjustified sense of ownership over it.Join the Facebook Group Oddballs: Friends of The Odd Dad Outhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/odddadoutBuy Me A Coffeehttp://buymeacoffee.com/odddadoutFollow Along on Social athttps://www.twitter.com/odddadout/https://www.facebook.com/odddadout/https://www.instagram.com/odddadout
It's been 5 months since I've been able to sit down behind the mic. So naturally I ramble on about all of the why's. Then get into a mini rant about comedy, I graze over a few things that have happened in the last few months, and I challenge YOU to keep me to my word to be back again next week to talk about the World Taekwondo Championships.Join the Facebook Group Oddballs: Friends of The Odd Dad Outhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/odddadoutBuy Me A Coffeehttp://buymeacoffee.com/odddadoutFollow Along on Social athttps://www.twitter.com/odddadout/https://www.facebook.com/odddadout/https://www.instagram.com/odddadout

No news this week. Just telling the long complicated story of how my son broke his arm this week and the days long process of getting him patched up. Another week of sounding different, but this time I think it's from my new allergy meds. And in typical "me" style, I have a really long meandering story about our latest camping trip, getting lost hiking multiple times, and being sick that technically does relate to that first point. This week is a weird one. I'm not gonna lie. After some health talk, I get into our recent TV habits, including the new Hulu series "Only Murders In The Building." I give a brief garden update, and a heads up on our upcoming fall camping trip. Then the news takes an unexpected turn into the world of genital manipulation and I just can't seem to escape.
