UnHerd DC Corresponden and Breaking Points co-host Emily Jashinsky is in for Jim. Today, Emily and Greg discuss former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's brilliant defense of school choice, the Justice Department's's persecution of Dr. Eithan Haim for blowing the whistle on sex-change surgeries happening on minors in Texas Children's Hospital, andthe sky-high national deficit that continues to mount.First, they applaud Condoleezza Rice's incisive criticism of the left's hypocrisy when it opposes school choice. Rice aptly observes that elites who oppose school choice often send their own children to expensive public schools.Next, they examine the chilling reality that Dr. Eithan Haim exposed at Texas Children's Hospital: minors are being given sex-change surgeries, though the hospital previously claimed that this was not happening. Emily and Greg tear into the DOJ's obvious political targeting of Dr. Haim, alleging HIPAA violations though Dr. Haim took every care not to reveal the identity of patients. Finally, they toast a double-fisted crazy martini to the $24 trillion deficit that the government will run over the next decade, thanks to out-of-control and ineffective spending. They also consider the steep interest payments on the debt that taxpayers will face in the coming years. Please visit our great sponsors:Moinkhttps://moinkbox.com/martiniVisit today to get one year of the best Bacon you'll ever taste free. Welcome to Top of the Morning by Mint, your weekday newscast that brings you five major stories from the world of business. It's Thursday, March 27, 2024. My name is Nelson John. Let's get started:Markets enjoyed an uptick on Wednesday. Benchmark index Nifty increased by around half a percentage point, while Sensex was up by 0.73 percent by the time markets closed. India is short on directors. Not the ones that make movies — plenty of those around — but those that run companies. According to the Companies Act, every board must have a certain number of directors, depending on the size of the company. These directors should ideally be independent and impartial, and take decisions that benefit the company's future, and in turn, its shareholders. But as Mint's corporate governance writer Varun Sood reports, these directors might be shaky. Over 25 such appointed directors have called it quits before they could join boards since 2021. These directors have time and again cited personal reasons for their sudden decision to quit. As Varun writes, these often take place at companies which are undergoing a governance crisis, like Zee Entertainment, Dish TV, and other firms like Alkem Laboratories and Union Bank of India. Varun spoke to directors, investors, and governance experts to find out why this curious trend is gathering steam in India Inc.Alternative investment funds, or AIFs, are going through a rough time right now. The markets and banking regulators came down heavily on these financial instruments, issuing notices that limited their scope of investments. Private and public banks have a fair bit of exposure to AIFs, so the Reserve Bank of India wanted to protect depositors against risky or fraudulent borrowing. But after Sebi floated a consulting paper, RBI might be willing to change its course: it is exempting banks and NBFCs from liquidating or provisioning the money it had in AIFs. Provisioning is the process of setting aside an equal amount of money to protect investors and depositors. The regulators came down hard on AIFs in December after it came to light that AIFs had borrowed from the very same banks who had invested in them, leading to a potential conflict of interest. If you're a startup, it's a hard time to raise money these days. Despite that, automobile platform CarDekho is working towards a new round of funding, reports startups and new economy reporter Sneha Shah. The company is in talks to raise anywhere between a 100 to 150 million dollars that will provide exits to existing investors. The company will now be valued at 1.3 billion dollars after this round, and claims it is on its way to an IPO in the next two years. CarDekho had a revenue of more than 2,300 crore rupees in FY23, which was a 46 percent jump from the previous financial year.Maruti Suzuki had high hopes from Jimny, a model it launched last year catered towards a market that likes off-road driving. That capability should come in handy now, as the Jimny has to overcome a steep climb from the depths of car sales hell. Only about 500 units of the Jimny have been sold in January and February. Compare that to its direct rival, the Mahindra Thar — 6,000 Thars were sold in February alone. Mint's resident auto expert Sumant Banerji takes a deep dive into the misfortune of Maruti's off-roading ambitions that hit a rough patch — it's a rut the company can't seem to get out of.Who watches the watchmen? The Indian government has decided: a fact-checking unit. It wanted to constitute such a team to flag misinformation about the government — this body would have directive powers too. Press freedom advocates and activists filed an appeal against the constitution of such a body, and the Supreme Court paid heed. The SC has now stayed the creation of this unit. Mint's special correspondent Shouvik Das explains the ramifications of the government's original plan, SC's order, and how artificial intelligence plays a crucial role in the entire saga. We'd love to hear your feedback on this podcast. Let us know by writing to us at feedback@livemint.com. You may send us feedback, tips or anything that you feel we should be covering from your vantage point in the world of business and finance.

Dedicating significant hours to books and market analysis, Alexander Moreno sought regular counsel from a seasoned trading mentor. After refining his abilities through months of paper trading, he ventured into live trading, reaping consistent profits as planned. This success bolstered his confidence to trade full-time as a livelihood. However, the unforeseen market turbulence in 2008 unleashed his psychological struggles, leading to impulsive trading and ultimately, homelessness. This harrowing experience granted Alexander invaluable insights that he now imparts to others. This might be one of the most important episodes to listen to in a while when it comes to the topic of frank discussion on losses in trading and the practicality of managing risks so that traders can stay in the game long enough to have the opportunity to learn and improve. Len and Ian are joined once again by our official unofficial historical consultant, UNC Chapel Hill's Dr. Bret Devereaux, to discuss a couple of interrelated topics: Snowballing in strategy games and the process of industrialization. We take a wide-ranging trek through games and history that touches on different ways developers have tried to put checks on snowballing, what factors prevented real societies from hitting that exponential growth until the 1800s, and which games portray it best. There's also a lot of chat on our exploits in the recent 1.2 patch for Victoria 3, because of course there would be.

The snowball that is my train of thought is all over the place this week. Why is it I keep starting off by talking about the weather? Of course, this rolls into a little chat about the side effects of having such an active monsoon season, like my yard getting overgrown and the damage on our local tree population. Naturally, this rolls into garden talk and about how it's almost September and that it's been nearly a year with my truck and we're still working on getting things fixed to get it legal in this state. Talk of fixing the truck then turns to why our garage renovations have been delayed and how my wife keeps buying hanging racks for me to install in the garage. With one of those shelf purchases she also bought me my very first KitchenAid stand mixer, which of course gets me talking about pizza and baking cookies. Then the snowball starts rolling back into the garage renovations and about tools for doing it, but that is dependent on getting the truck fixed so I can finish clearing it all out. But first things first, I have to get the back yard cleaned up so I can start planting my fall garden. In a modified "Recommended Listening" segment, I talk about some TV that I've been watching lately including "Harley Quinn" on HBO Max and Letterkenny on Hulu. I've also recently checked out the new podcast from, friend of the show, Paul Csomo, "Avast." If you are familiar with the "Varmints" podcast, imagine that style but talking about pirates. There aren't a lot of episodes yet, so I will reserve a full review for later.Join the Facebook Group Oddballs: Friends of The Odd Dad Outhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/odddadoutBuy Me A Coffeehttp://buymeacoffee.com/odddadoutFollow Along on Social athttps://www.twitter.com/odddadout/https://www.facebook.com/odddadout/https://www.instagram.com/odddadout
Today I want to talk with you about a pattern you'll probably recognize. Have you ever felt like you were just getting in the groove with eating in the way you want to, and then something discouraging happened, and then, before you knew it you were completely off track? I want to introduce you to a concept I call snowballing. It's one of the most common patterns that trigger overeating and emotional eating -and if you're not conscious of it, you might be in its power. What I cover in this episode:What snowballing isHow snowballing can trigger overeating and emotional eatingHow diet mentality and snowballing can keep you in a cycle of start over (and over)What it looks like to NOT snowballWhat to do if you catch yourself in a cycle of snowballing and overeatingFind links to everything we mention in this episode as well as complete show notes & transcript at https://toomuchonherplate.com/snowballing-overeating-and-emotional-eating-tmohp-episode-046/.

The Bald and the Beautiful with Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamo
In a world where one's public image is everything, we here at Bald, LLC would like to propose a different route: that of radical honesty. Have a small penis? Wear it like a tiny, proud badge. Hairy in all the wrong places? Include that despicable rat's nest in your nude pic. What we're trying to say is stop trying to be something you aren't, and live your life as the disgusting, disfigured, and completely unlovable quasi-human-being that you've always known yourself to be. Weather the storm 渡過難關 This one can be a little confusing. When we say “weather” in English, we're usually talking about how hot or cold it is outside, or whether it's rainy, snowy, windy or sunny. “Weather” can also be a verb (action word), though. This idiom means to survive a difficult challenge. Example Sentence: “Fred is going through a hard time right now, but he'll weather the storm.” This means that Fred will overcome whatever problems he has. Take a rain check 下次吧,以後再說 Here, a “check” means a “ticket”—similar to a “hat check” or a “coat check” that you'd use to claim your hat or coat after it was hung up for you at a restaurant. A “rain check” would let you claim another chance to do something at a later time. Example Sentence: If you tell someone, “I'll take a rain check,” It's another way of saying, “I understand the delay. We'll do this later.” Chasing rainbows 追求不現實的幻想 Even though rainbows are real, they seem to disappear as you get close to them. If you know someone who's trying to reach an impossible goal, you can say that they're “chasing rainbows.” It's a breeze 小菜一碟 A “breeze” is air that blows lightly and gently. It doesn't move with force; it moves easily. Example Sentence: “No! It's a breeze.” In other words, it's easy! Snowball into (something) 滾雪球 If something in your life “snowballs,” it means that it keeps growing larger. This happens quickly, gaining momentum (energy that keeps increasing). “Snowballing” can be good or bad. Here's a positive example: “Her first few sales of the new product snowballed into a permanent sales job with the company.” And a negative example: “One late night snowballed into many more late nights, and soon he struggled to get out of bed.” 練習時間: 那個慣用語跟你生活經驗有關,請分享 Think about a situation where you would use the idiom in your life and share it with us.
You have probably heard of the snowball method but perhaps you are not certain about how it can be of value to your debt pay-off plan. This is a debt pay-off strategy where you pay off your debt in order of smallest to largest, gaining momentum as you knock out each remaining balance. When the smallest debt is paid in full, you roll the minimum payment you were making on that debt into the next-smallest debt payment ADN you get to celebrate the success of your accomplishment as you go along. Our guest in today's episode is a testament to the snowball method. Tamika Richie has been able to pay off over $100K in debt over 8 yrs ago and has remained "debt free" except for the mortgage she is now working to pay off in 10 years after she purchased a home in October 2020. Tamika will share how she modified the snowball method to meet her goal. Since June 2014, she has been a full-time entrepreneur and currently has a 6 figure business selling items on Amazon. In 2019 she started a black nutcracker brand and has just recently purchased her 1st semi-truck. Tamika knows her way around passive income opportunities and this enabled her to smoothly pay off her debt with the snowball method. Take a listen to her story and debt management tips in this episode. +The Level Up Your Money Workbook https://www.itsmymoneyjournal.info/shop.html Connect with host, Patrina Dixon +Instagram https://www.instagram.com/itsmymoney_/ +Facebook https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100013355082005 +Twitter https://twitter.com/itsmymoney_ +YouTube https://youtube.com/c/It%E2%80%99sMyMoneywithPatrinaDixon +Pinterest https://pin.it/5x8rOTp +Website http://www.itsmymoneyjournal.info/ Connect with guest, Tamika Richie +Instagram https://www.instagram.com/ms.freedegree/

TRIGGER WARNING: This episode briefly mentions suicide and suicidal ideation in relation to hormonal birth control. Please do not listen if this could be trigging for you. ||Inspired by the winter weather, Annmarie and Echo start this nipply episode with a frozen wet t-shirt contest before sharing updates on the past few weeks: Annmarie got a dog and 8 free boxes of female condoms AND Plan B, while Echo got stood up twice by the same guy and accidentally showed her nipples in a VERY inappropriate setting. Between Would You Rather and a segment of Real Dumb Questions from the Missionaries that have them discussing icicle masturbation and frozen sperm, the girls keep things nippling as they review everything from the physiology of temperature play and the role sex plays in immunity to what a "snowball fight" REALLY entails and the best options for fucking in the cold.
