Rather, it is a 100% naturally-occurring carbon, humic acid & fulvic acid source - along with exceptionally high levels of naturally-occurring microbial biomass that can increase nitrogen efficiency by up to 25%. Cousin Justin and I discuss his blossom end rot experiment that uses Epsom salts as a remedy. Did it work? After that, we chat about his childhood experiences visiting his uncle's farms, particularly my Dad's. Justin talks about anything from milking cows, feeding calves, driving tractors and raking hay to trapping gophers. Welcome back to another captivating episode of the Veg Grower podcast, where we cultivate the knowledge and skills needed to transform your gardening endeavours into a bountiful table spread. Today, we're embarking on a journey through the realms of harvest storage – an indispensable aspect of reaping the rewards of your hard work. Before we dive into the depths of storing your precious produce, let's kick things off with an enticing update from the allotment. Allotment Update: Bask in the glory of drier weather as we traverse the lush expanses of our allotment. The sun's warm embrace has graced us, allowing the earth to exhale after a refreshing rain. This weather shift brings exciting news – our tomato vines are heavy with vibrant red treasures, ready for the plucking. Onions, too, have responded to nature's rhythm, and their papery layers beckon us to gather them for future culinary delights. And, as we bid farewell to summer, a new chapter unfolds as we lovingly tuck in butternut squash plants, promising autumnal abundance in the days to come. The art of storing our harvests. When we spend much of the year growing our food in order to have fresh produce it seems a shame to not make some of this food last into the winter months where we can. This week we Dive into the art of storing our harvests, with the following points to think about Temperature and Humidity: As the season's dance guides us through transitions, our harvests embark on a new journey – from garden to table. Join us as we unlock the secrets of temperature and humidity, crafting the perfect environments for each precious crop. From the cool embrace of root veggies to the warm haven of tomatoes and peppers, discover how to honour their individual preferences while preserving their essence. Darkness and Light: As the sun casts its enchanting glow upon our garden, we delve into the interplay of darkness and light. We explore the subtle art of light exposure, safeguarding the potential of onions and potatoes to blossom while nurturing herbs and fruits that thrive under its gentle touch. The "Don't Wash Everything" Rule: In the delicate balance between garden and plate, the wisdom of washing takes centre stage. Unearth the secrets of selective washing – a practice that elevates the flavours and longevity of your produce. Learn when to embrace the water's caress and when to hold off, preserving the pristine quality of your harvests. Choosing the Right Containers: Amidst this journey of preservation, containers emerge as our steadfast companions. Discover the art of container selection, from rustic wooden crates that embrace airflow to the elegant embrace of glass jars. With each choice, we safeguard the future of our harvests and relish in the convenience of well-labelled vessels. Inspect and Rotate: Vigilance becomes our ally as we traverse the landscape of storage. Regular inspection and timely removal of imperfections ensure that our harvest's integrity remains intact. Enter the dance of rotation, a mindful choreography that maximizes enjoyment while minimizing waste. Freezing and Preserving: In times of abundance, the freezer becomes our ally, and preservation our art. Step into the world of blanching, where the essence of flavours and nutrients are preserved in icy embrace. Journey into the realm of pickling and canning, where our garden's offerings transcend their seasonal boundaries. Garden Update and Conclusion: As our episode draws to a close, let's journey back to our garden sanctuary for an update on its ever-changing tapestry. With each passing day, we witness the growth, transformation, and the symphony of life that envelops our green haven. Remember, the garden is a testament to your dedication, a living testament to your nurturing touch. With the wisdom garnered today, you're now prepared to embark on a journey of harvest storage mastery. Each segment has illuminated a new facet of this art,

Rocking this episode solo and talking about this year's gardening failures and successes thus far. I tend to use every inch of my garden and plant in “layers” as I describe it. It doesn't always work out, but that's gardening for ya! With this year being so dry all over the country, plants are stressed out, and blossom end rot can be more prevalent. So, what can you do about it? Email: ahomegrownfam@gmail.comInstagram: ahomegrownfam** No longer on Twitter Resources:Blossom End RotNasturtiumSupport the show

Evan Fitzgerald and Laura Lundsten are excited to be back in the studio and won't let Evan's tinnitus stop them because they have new intro music, lots of drinks, and even more topics to discuss. Laura kicks things off by admitting a recent mistake she made at work, and then the two review their adventures with Hello Fresh and have a small book club moment. After Evan complains about a coworker, Laura decides Justin Trudeau is cute, but could also be the Canadian Anti-Christ. The two relive a few moments from middle school that range from farting during tests, bulling teachers and bombs going off at lunch. Eventually we get to the main topic of this episode, Laura's new business, L2 Modern Dance Project. She explains where this idea came from, the idea behind the business and her excitement for this new step. We do a few commercials to plug L2 and Laura comes to the conclusion that she is the final boss to her own business. That leads to a conversation about Sekiro and the podcast ends with a new season of our longest running segment, "Garden Update". Tune in to the next episode to hear about Evan's butt.

It's Halloween in November on this episode of Permanently Unengaged podcast and Laura gets things rolling by slaughtering Evan at a made up game and then bragging about being the real bread winner of the relationship. Since Evan and Laura are from a land without seasons (Florida), the two discuss how pretty it is to watch Denver slowly slip into Autumn and the leaves changing across the city. After a review of Comrade Brewery, and a Lightning update, the two discuss their nick-name for Laura's boss and then finally Evan plays a video to open the show. That video is followed by an announcement about Laura's family adopting her nephews and a video of one of them being the cutest child ever. The two give a Garden Update, and then Laura flexes hard about her pumpkin carving skills. That leads into the pair sharing their favorite Halloween memories of scary events, pranks and specific horror movies. Evan has Laura attempt to roll her R's live on the podcast so everyone understands just how crazy Laura is and then Evan tells a story about standing up against a mob at Walgreens. The two explain their sides of the day "Instagram Died" and how it effected Denver Spot Locator's ability to argue with roller-bladers. Laura and Evan decide on the theme for music at their hypothetical wedding and also recount a few lies they were told as children that they 100% believed to be true. Thats when things get a little dark and Laura tells a story about stepping on a hamster, which is the perfect intro to a news story Evan has been holding onto regarding Australian Sheppards. To end the episode on a lighter note, Evan gives a small report on State Dogs and Dinosaur bones. It might be the most educational thing to happen on the podcast so far.

Fun drinking game - Take a shot every time Nate talks over April or every time April says "mmhmm" condescendingly. If you are able to listen through the bickering, the couple discusses the most recent hatching, as well as more details to the upcoming breeding plan. A few more sheep updates and a tiny garden plan update at the end. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/wmhhomestead/support
