Magdalena Solís was a Mexican cult leader and the extremely rare sexually motivated female serial killer. She was recruited to help a couple of grifters keep running a cult-based scam out of a cave in the mountains of rural Mexico in 1963 by pretending to be an Aztec goddess, and then started to believe she really was that goddess, took over the cult, and so much blood and debauchery followed. For Merch and everything else Bad Magic related, head to: https://www.badmagicproductions.com

Considered among the first (and certainly the most prolific) American female serial killers and so-called angels of mercy, Jane Toppan's killing spree went unnoticed for more than fifteen years, as she transitioned from one hospital to another, leaving an unprecedented trail of carnage in her wake. Jane was finally arrested in 1901, after killing the entire family of a man for whom she'd been hired to provide care. The arrest and trial were a sensation, as murder and cruelty were a direct contradiction of the norms and standards long relied upon to define American womanhood. When Jane Toppan began training to be a nurse at Cambridge Hospital in 1885, she was bright, eager, and well-liked by her peers and seemed to form easy bonds with the oldest and most vulnerable patients. What no one knew at the time was, once Jane managed to get time alone with her patients, she began conducting medical experiments by injecting them with various drugs and even going so far as to get into bed with them to hold them close to her as they died from the overdoses she'd administered.Thank you to the amazing Dave White of Bring me the Axe Podcast for research!ReferencesBoston Globe. 1902. After a tragic childhood, Aileen was living on the streets by age fourteen. From that point forward all she really knew was drinking, drugging, grifting and hooking. When she met Tyria Moore, Aileen hoped to settle down in a place of their own. However, she would go to great lengths to make ends meet and keep Tyria. From 1989 to 1990, Aileen killed seven men by hitchhiking and receiving rides from them under a false pretense or in some cases engaging in prostitution. She then shot each of them and stole anything of value. Eventually, she was caught, convicted and sentenced to death. Questions still remain as she had sworn from the beginning that she killed in self defense. However, on the day of her execution, she asked for one last interview where she said she needed to confess and then claimed not a single one had been in self defense. Tune in as Savannah attempts to give the facts with insight as to why Aileen may have suddenly changed her story. Meanwhile, Elysia tries to think of anything at all to say other than "yeah", "oh my god", and "I don't know about that".    Don't forget to leave us the weekly emoji! Kathleen Folbigg: Australia's Worst Female Serial Killer or Grieving Mother?

Serial Napper

Kathleen Kolbigg is either a grieving mother who tragically and unusually lost four of her babies - or she's Australia's worst female serial killer. It really depends on who you ask. Kathleen - who goes by Kathy - would lose four of her young children tragically between the years 1989 and 1999. Babies Caleb, Patrick, Sarah and Laura were between the ages of only 19 days old and 19 months old when they died. Initially, it was believed that sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) was the cause of death in at least two of the children, however, after 19-month-old Laura suddenly passed away after a nap, investigators began to take a closer look. There was a diary found, where Kathleen wrote long entries about her experience being a mother. Some took these to be nothing more than an expression of grief and guilt for not being able to save her babies. Others, including the police, would see this as a confession and admission of guilt for killing her children. Kathy Folbigg has always maintained her innocence.Ultimately, Kathy would be convicted of the deaths of her four children and ordered to spend 40 years in prison. In a recent surprising turn of events, just this past week Kathy was pardoned and released from prison after spending 20 years behind bars. Some people are celebrating her release as a long overdue success while others believe she killed her children and should still be in prison. So is Kathy Folbigg a mother who has experienced the worst kind of pain imaginable, the loss of four of her children - or she is Australia's worst female serial killer? In the 1980s, Dorothea Puente ran a boarding house in Sacramento, California. Little did neighbors know that this seemingly quiet, grandmotherly woman was harboring a dark secret. She housed and worth with the underserved, underprivileged, and disadvantaged, and those that lived in her home seem to “disappear” on a whim – That is until 7 bodies were exhumed in her backyard, and 2 more, whom knew Puente, were missing.
