Welcome to the Take a Moment podcast, a space to block out the noise and let inspiration flow. Our host, Susanne Holzweiler, is also one of the founders of our company. She’s been there since the early days when Holzweiler first started operating as a small agency in Oslo, and is now at the heart of operations as we transition into a global lifestyle brand. Take a Moment with Holzweiler is a podcast inspired by Susanne’s experience of juggling life with a rapidly expanding business. Back in 2016 Susanne was operating as Holzweiler’s CEO: ‘I had been working so much and so hard, after having the business for 10 years. I had also gotten 2 small kids during that period, and it was just everything at the same time. I was working day and night - every spare second I was spending working.’ Susanne developed a bad case of burnout, and the remedy for this was quite literally to take a moment. Susanne shifted her lifestyle to allow for a space for wellness, meditation and rest, and to learn new information from books, podcasts and her peers. Inspired by this, Take a moment with Holzweiler is our new podcast where we delve deep into the stories of the people who inspire us. There’s so much to learn if we take the time to listen to other people’s experiences, and this is what this podcast creates a space to do. As our Holzweiler family continues to grow, we get to know the stories of an ever expanding range of people, from royalty to leaders in the modern wellness movement. Holzweiler sits at the intersection of life and style, therefore we often take our inspiration from the real people living life with the values that align with our own. In the rush of the working week when everyone is dashing from meeting to meeting it’s hard to find the time to let creativity flow. So, we invite you to take a moment and join us for this podcast and see where inspiration from these stories can lead you to. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week, we're in Oslo with creative couple Isabelle Eberdean and Jonas Bahri. They've spent over a decade building not just a life together, but a relationship rooted in curiosity, individuality, and shared inspiration. They speak to Susanne about the joy of constantly rediscovering one another. As people change over time - through experiences, music, conversations, or simply growing older - so do relationships. It's this evolution that keeps their connection alive. For Isabelle and Jonas, it's not about always doing everything together. It's about living separate lives and bringing that richness back home. After years of study, work, and travel, the two are now grounded in Oslo, embracing a new phase of life that includes not just being a couple, but also potential collaborators. They reflect on how they've matured over the years - learning to communicate better, support one another more deeply, and even imagine working side-by-side without losing their sense of self. They also look back with tenderness at their younger selves, offering advice they wish they'd had: be kinder, be patient, and don't forget to pause and breathe. Isabelle finds calm in music and people-watching, while Jonas takes quiet moments alone, letting stillness reset him. This episode is a celebration of long-term love, creative independence, and the small rituals that help us come home to ourselves - and each other. For this special episode, Susanne travels far into the countryside to meet up with Gudbrand, the founder of Horgan Gård. Susanne first met him when she was sourcing produce for Holzweiler Platz, and they connected over his vision for transforming farming practices towards sustainability and regenerative agriculture. Drawing on years of experience, in this conversation he highlights the importance of outdoor grazing and holistic farm management to reduce environmental impact and improve the overall quality of food.Horgan Gård is committed to raising animals in a way that benefits the land and the environment, however Gudbrand is aware that switching to more sustainable methods isn't always easy. Many farmers are already caught in cycles of debt and rely on subsidies; Gubrand believes that the system can only change for the better through time and support. As the conversation shifts to the future, Gudbrand envisions a more holistic operation that focuses not on growth, but on maintaining balance. Ultimately, the goal is to inspire more sustainable farming practices that can be replicated on a larger scale, making high-quality, nutritious food more accessible and improving animal welfare. With a focus on education, transparency, and innovation, Horgan Gård is leading the way toward a future where food production is both sustainable and humane. Hosted on Acast. As biohacking gains traction in Norway, media interest has surged, leading to greater public awareness and acceptance. However, the movement still faces skepticism. Monica Øien & Alette Aubert, otherwise known as the Biohacking Girls, know their work in the field including their upcoming book and the Biohacking Weekend conference, is more important than ever. Now in its fourth year, Biohacking Weekend is the only event of its kind in Scandinavia, attracting world-renowned experts. This year, Dr. Bill Schindler will address the dangers of ultra-processed foods, while his wife, Christina, will focus on improving children's nutrition in schools. The event will also feature discussions on cutting-edge topics like peptides, NAD+, and mental resilience, fostering a growing sense of community where attendees feel understood and supported.Monica and Alette reflect on the evolution of biohacking in Norway, noting its slow but steady progress. Unlike the male-dominated biohacking scene in the U.S., Norway has maintained a strong female presence, thanks to efforts to include women from the start. In addition to organising the conference, Monica and Alette are finalizing their book, which covers biohacking fundamentals, stress management, and habit-building. They emphasize the importance of balance—avoiding biohacking extremes and instead focusing on practical, sustainable health strategies.Their personal well-being remains a priority, incorporating breathwork, time in nature, and cold water exposure into their daily routines. Their mission remains clear as the movement grows: to inspire and educate, making biohacking more accessible and rooted in both science and real-life experiences. Hosted on Acast. As someone who has built a career from the ground up, Sebastian understands the pressures of success in the public eye. Sebastian's experience has taught him that staying true to your values and embracing the support of others is crucial, especially when faced with public criticism.Throughout the conversation, he discusses how the Norwegian mentality often discourages celebrating success, leading to more criticism than encouragement. Sebastian also emphasizes the importance of supporting each other's achievements, whether in business or personal life. For him, taking a moment to recharge involves simple acts like going to a restaurant alone, where he finds peace in observing others and reflecting on the small, authentic moments that often go unnoticed. This episode highlights the significance of staying grounded in your values, not being afraid to speak your truth, and embracing the uniqueness of each person's journey. This week's episode is something of a family reunion. Our Creative Director, Maria Holzweiler joins our podcast for the second time, however this time she's brought along her son, Hugo. It's a new year, and how the family spent their festive break is a hot topic of conversation.Maria and her family decided to spend their holiday season together on a holiday to Mexico. The big difference between this holiday and previous family trips was that they made the group decision to spend the two and a half weeks together entirely free of screens and phones. The goal was to ‘disconnect to reconnect'. As Maria noted, family is always ‘available but not actually present'. Even though they are together everyday, they communicate on autopilot. Everyone is more preoccupied with their digital lives to have real and meaningful moments with each other. Before the trip began work had to be finished completely - it couldn't be looked over on the plane. Cameras had to be filled with fresh memory cards and family and friends' addresses had to be physically written down so that postcards could be written out. What was to follow was something completely out of the family's comfort zone, but that's what made it so worthwhile.Maria and Hugo sit down with Susanne to discuss highlights from their trip, what they learned about both themselves and each other through doing it, and the learnings they'll take away from it and apply to their everyday lives. Whether you're looking to reduce stress, boost creativity, or improve mental clarity, breathwork offers a simple, effective solution that's always available to us.Fredrik and Susanne also discuss how breathwork can be a game changer for anyone, whether you're dealing with anxiety or just need a quick reset. Through various techniques, from diaphragmatic breathing to more active practices, Fredrik highlights how the breath directly influences our state of mind and overall well-being. Together, they explore the physical and emotional benefits of this ancient practice, encouraging listeners to embrace it as part of their everyday lives. This episode is a reminder that sometimes, taking a moment to breathe is all it takes to find balance and focus in the chaos of modern life. Isabella Bukerie Bessières is the founder Elite Helse Oslo, a skincare practice that fuses the latest developments in both the beauty industry and science. Elite Helse's mission is to protect and enhance someone's unique features - it's about finding the best version of yourself, not about trying to become someone else. Isabella also champions a holistic approach to skincare, meaning a rejection of the popular ‘more is more' mentality in modern skincare where a 12+ product daily routine is promoted in favour of a more pared back approach. All we really need are a few scientifically-backed products and to simply listen to what our bodies are telling us from within.Susanne is a regular at Skin Helse, which is where she discovered that her and Isabella have more than one thing in common. Not only are they both mothers, they both actively take a mindful approach to life and are female entrepreneurs in industries where importance is placed on outward appearance - and they've both figured out how to navigate this in a positive way. Isabella's business is growing: Elite Helse has its own range of skincare and she's recently released a book, Skin Intelligence, which she intends to be a manual for everyone as they navigate skincare through all stages of life. Our skin is our biggest organ, and Isabella says the key is to view it as ‘a mirror image of what's going on inside'. Everything is connected - taking a moment for yourself everyday is as important for your mental health as it is for the health of your skin. Hosted on Acast. It's hard to imagine the Oslo's contemporary culinary scene without Oslo Raw. Established in 2016, it's developed something of a cult following. Lines snake around the street outside its doors; people are happy to queue to sample its menu, which is a rare sight in Oslo. Oslo Raw's huge success is down in no small part to Tiril Refsum, its founder and our guest this week on Take a Moment. Tiril and Susanne have a lot in common. Not only are they businesswomen at the helm of their own companies, self care and mindfulness also play a key role in how they both lead both their professional and personal lives. As Tiril herself says, the pair are ‘living their brands', meaning that Holzweiler and Oslo Raw respectively are representative of their principles and lifestyles. When you're this passionate about what you do, there's no way that the quality of the end product won't be excellent. Oslo Raw recently celebrated its eighth birthday, and Susanne and Tiril discuss growing with your brand. Tiril says that personal growth is integral to the strength of your business because ‘strong branches grow from deep roots.' Running a business on your own is no small task, and Tiril fills Susanne in on her methods of finding calm amidst the chaos: including breathwork, taking things slower and simply allowing herself to be happy. Ever since our brand's inception in 2012 we've had the dream of a collaboration with Bjarne Melgaard. He's one of the most respected names in Scandinavian art whose work pushes boundaries and asks uncomfortable questions, but always with a playful sense of humour and expressive use of colour. 2024 was the year our dream was realised - it saw the release of our Holzweiler x Caviar Kaspia x Bjarne Melgaard collaboration. Alongside Caviar Kaspia motifs, the collaboration saw Bjarne's illustrations interpreted across Holzweiler designs - symbolic of his lifelong relationship with fashion, which he discusses with Susanne. Bjarne views fashion and art as inextricably linked, and places fashion icons such as the Antwerp 6 as inspirations in his own work. Bjarne's work is also one of the main topics of this discussion. Recorded in front of a live audience at Holzweiler Platz, Susanne takes Bjarne back to his beginnings. His mother is the person who started him on his journey within art that took him to far flung destinations such as New York and Sydney, before returning to his hometown. He fills us in on his thoughts on the art and fashion scenes in Norway, his experience working with Holzweiler and his plans for what's to come, which include a tour. As he tells Susanne, he's always focused on the future as his best years are yet to come. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Fran Burns is a stylist whose work is celebrated on a global platform, and for the past two years she's been a key member of the Holzweiler family. Fran sees clothes as a way of storytelling, and she's utilised this skill to tell the story of our brand: our values, our heritage and our inspirations. Aside from Fran's innate talents, she also has an impressive CV: she's a former Fashion Editor for publications such as Vogue and i-D, and her first job as a teenager was to work alongside Kylie Minogue and her team on tour. For this week's episode, Susanne visited Fran's tranquil studio for a catch up. They discuss Fran's early days at Holzweiler and some of her favourite moments she's created with us. Prompted by health issues which she describes as a ‘breakdown to breakthrough', Fran now takes a mindful, holistic approach to life and work. She recently went back to college to study Nutrition, and Fran fills Susanne in on her goal to demystify healthy living, which she says can be as simple as ‘letting go of perfection' and trying your best to do something good for yourself every day. If we had to pick only one word to describe this week's guest, it would be ‘fearless'. Hailing from Norway, Aleksandra Orbeck has been modelling and acting since her teen years, however these days it's her activism that's taking centre stage. Aleksandra has always felt a kinship with the outside world and animals, and in the past she's passed on lucrative modelling gigs in favour of exploring the world, namely Namibia and other parts of East and Southern Africa. Aleksandra's passion and interest in the indigenous people's way of life there led her to found Nanofasa in 2011, her non-profit organisation. Nanofasa harmonises ancient wisdom with modern conservation practices to find solutions for our planet and its guardians. They empower indigenous communities by preserving traditional knowledge, creating job opportunities, and fostering sustainable development. It's an inspiring and unique take on conservationism, and in this week's episode Aleksandre sits down with Susanne to tell the story of the journey that brought her to Nanofasa, what's next, and what she's learned through letting nature and wildlife take precedence in her way of life. Susie Lau is one of contemporary fashion's true creative minds. She's a blogger and content creator; no fashion week would be complete without her thoughtful, insightful take on it. As a channel to express her passion for it, Susie first published her online fashion blog in 2006. Named Style Bubble, (inspired by Susie's nickname, Susie Bubble), it was the one of the first of its kind. This was a time before social media, when fashion was still reckoning with its future in the Digital Age. Susie was a part of all of it, witnessing in real time the complete restructuring of an industry. Susie is a close friend of Holzweiler; this week's episode captures a continuation of a conversation started between Susie and Susanne at a recent dinner celebrating our Holzweiler x Caviar Kaspia x Bjarne Melgaard collaboration. Susie gives her valuable thoughts on fashion: how it's become intermingled with other industries, how globalisation has changed our perception of what a ‘fashion capital' can be, the pros and cons of tech and more. More than just a fashion trailblazer, Susie is also a mother and sustainability advocate. Susie and Susanne also compare notes on modern motherhood, and how ritual and routine is crucial when finding balance in the fast-paced world of today. Hosted on Acast. Dr. Torkil Færø is an emergency physician, general practitioner, documentary filmmaker, photographer and freelance doctor with a career that spans 25 years. Over this time he's developed a unique insight into the modern way of life; how it affects our bodies and our minds and how it can have a detrimental effect on our wellbeing. His wealth of experience on the matter led him to write his now bestselling book, The Pulse Cure, which teaches how we can use HRV, or Heart Rate Variability, to enhance our nervous system, decrease inflammation and ultimately feel better. HRV is the exploration of what our heart rate can tell us about our physical health and also our mental wellbeing. Although stressors may be caused by the modern world, The Pulse Cure demonstrates how we can also harness modern technologies like our phones, smart watches and aura rings to overcome them. Dr. Færø's findings in The Pulse Cure have had a big impact on Susanne's own wellness journey, and HRV is something that's become a key aspect of her everyday life. However, Dr. Færø and Susanne have more than just heart rates on their minds. Join them for this special discussion that ranges from modern living, working and taking a moment for gratitude every day. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Dignity and self-worth are so much more valuable to Rawdah than any cover could be, and she knows she doesn't need to pander to anyone to get what she wants; no matter how powerful they may seem to be. In this insightful conversation, Rawdah speaks to Susanne about her life so far, her career and her guiding principles that have taken her this far. Hosted on Acast.
