Dr. Torkil Færø, expert in emergency medicine and wellness, returns for his second appearance on the podcast to share insights on how modern stress impacts our health. With 25 years of experience, Torkil wrote The Pulse Cure, the subject of his first episode with us and a bestselling book on how Heart Rate Variability (HRV) can help manage stress, reduce inflammation, and improve overall well-being.In his latest book, Vilekuren: The Rest Cure, Torkil explores the essential practice of rest—something that's become more important than ever in today's fast-paced world. Rest, he argues, is crucial for our health, but it's often neglected. As someone who has dedicated this year to slowing down and releasing busyness from her life, Susanne is especially excited about this conversation. In this episode, Torkil and Susanne discuss the importance of rest in improving health and performance. They explore how hidden stressors, like technology and work pressure, deplete our energy and how mindful practices like breathwork and meditation can restore balance. Torkil also highlights the need for women to align rest with their natural cycles, improving health and reducing stress-related issues.Ultimately, Torkil and Susanne advocate for a shift in how we approach stress and recovery, encouraging us to prioritize rest for better energy, performance, and quality of life. Our special guest today is Clara Capano, a prominent international speaker, best-selling author, and the Chief Harmony Officer of Capano Speaking and Training. Clara is a multi-faceted personality and juggles multiple roles with enthusiasm, including being the host of the Working Woman's Channel and Living Real TV. Clara's latest book, "The Mother of All Success Manuals: How to Control Your Days, Lose the Guilt, and Find Harmony between Work and Life,” was designed with working moms in mind. The book is a mirror reflecting Clara's personal journey of achieving the delicate balance between motherhood and professional life. At the age of 37, Clara experienced a professional burnout that served as the catalyst for the creation of the strategies discussed in her book. A pivotal moment in Clara's life was when her young son accused her of not being attentive to him. This incident sparked a moment of introspection and realization, causing her to reevaluate her life choices. The cornerstone of Clara's work is her Clarity Success Method. This unique model follows a mnemonic based on her name, each letter signifying a vital business strategy to enhance productivity while maintaining work-life harmony: C - Clarity of their vision L - Leveraging time A - Action on the vital few things R - Rest and reflection A - Articulating value T - Tracking and measuring Y - Celebrate the wins regularly Clara firmly believes that self-care is not selfish, but a necessity to deliver value to others. She stresses the need to find joy in everyday life and dedicate at least 15 minutes each day to it. Clara's joyful moments range from practicing gratitude, having a morning cup of coffee, sneaking a midday nap, to scrolling through TikTok. Clara emphasizes that we can't – and shouldn't – try to do it all. She urges everyone to simplify, delegate purposefully, and focus on staying in their zone of genius.   The Biggest Helping: Today's Most Important Takeaway “Get clear on defining what you want your life to look like. Get clear on what does success mean to you. Own it. Your why is your why. Use that vision to drive you, to allow you to stay connected, and to be that rocket fuel inside your soul that lights you up every day.”   --   Thank you for joining us on The Daily Helping with Dr. Shuster. THRIVE is a word you may hear a lot like why survive when you can thrive..so today I am going to share 6 things you can do to thrive:T: Talk & Plan-yes not the norm for your age but it helps what do you have this week That you need your parents to help you with or drive you to what do you have this week that will require you to study maybe the night before etc.H: Healthy food choices I know you have heard this before but what if you added one vegetable to lunch and dinner and one fruit to breakfast?(maybe you can find some research on this to addd to here)R: Rest from technology. I know I know you all probably want to throw tomatoes at me right now but the reality is is our brains need to rest from all of this technology. So give yourself one hour every day of no technology maybe it's the hour before you go to bed. Give yourself one day a week will you all these take half the day to put down your phone. When you're out with your family or you're out with your friends make a fun bet and put everybody's phone in the middle of the table whoever grabs it first has to pay for dinner or do something silly. And I'm going to challenge you that when you go on a trip this summer with your family give yourself one full day of no technology. See how that changes the way that you feel enjoying each and every moment.I: nvest in your gutProbiotics did you know that probiotics that only help your gut which in return helps your mental health but also helps your mental clarity, energy, and even clear up acne. I'll be giving you guys some information today about the products that I represent they are all non-GMO gluten-free and plant-based we have one that you can take in a capsule form and also a shake. It is really important to make sure you add probiotics to your every day routine because unfortunately we just don't get what we need from our food anymore and our stress and technology makes it hard for our body. Vitamins no matter how hard we try to eat well which I doubt most of us honestly do we are in on the go society so having vitamins to help you to feel and be your best is really important let me tell you a little bit about why I love ours more than any other simplicity.Exercise Get active- why? The many benefits of exercise for teens include a healthier heart, stronger muscles and bones and improved mental health EndorphinsNow this last one is 7 things but it is one for an over achiever who wants to find happiness, peace, and have something that is their pocket always that can change their attitude….Gratitude Daily gratitude if you can just incorporate five things in the morning that you're grateful for and five things in the evening the air grateful for you will see your attitude start to change there's a reason why they say gratitude changes your attitude. There is tons of research on this and to really get the best affects you should write down your five gratitudes in the morning before starting your day and write down your five gratitude the night before you go to bed.Do us a favor..share with any teenager/tween you know. Then let us know if you are implementing any of these, you can find us:Instagram: @blessedmommabosses_FB: @blessedmommabossesFree community: http://www.blessedmommabossesgroup.com

This week we are talking about our freedom as men. Men often long for freedom but what does it look like? We are going to use a specific definition of a free man in our discussions today: FREE MAN - A MAN WHO LIVES HIS FULL POTENTIAL Free men live better lives and make a positive difference in the world, but it doesn't come easy. Today we are going to discuss the battles that all of us face as men when seeking to live free. Men Battle an Inner Drive for Comfort Comfort can cause us to stop moving toward our full potential Our desire for comfort is us rewarding ourselves and saying "we deserve this" Our purpose should be the driver of our life and not the desire for comfort We lose freedom when we start to make decisions based on what is easy and not what is right We have to be careful as men and watch to make sure that our drive has not become comfort-based and not purposed based Men Battle the Casualties of War Getting hurt is a part of life The emotional hurts are the hardest ones to overcome Many men get hurt emotionally and they check out of life By doing this they are willingly giving up on the freedom that comes with living their full potential Dealing with hurts is learning to process them Men Battle the Fatigue of the Fight The military calls it R&R = Rest and Recuperation; Rest and Recreation; Rest and Rehabilitation We must take fatigue seriously What is Rest? What is Recuperation (Recreation) R&R is our responsibility as men We also have to balance them with our roles as husbands, dads, workers, etc...

One of the most important things a caregiver can do for the person they're caring for is to take care of themselves. A caregiver who wears himself out, and keeps going 24/7 risks burnout.E: Eat right. Take a cue from your loved one's diet and take the opportunity to eat healthy things as well. Maybe you don't have to adhere to such a strict diet, but eating right certainly never hurts.C: Communicate your needs to others. Don't expect anyone, even other family members to read your mind about what you need or what your loved one needs. Let people around you know the things that need to be done and that occasionally; even you could use a hand.H: Hydrate. Drink lots of water. Water hydrates your body and keeps you energized. Take vitamins if you don't get enough nutrition from your food.A: Accept help. This can be the hardest thing for the caregiver to do, but it's one of the best things a caregiver can do for their loved one and for themselves. When people offer to help, often caregivers turn them down because they don't want to burden them or because they can't think of something off the top of their heads. Get over the notion that the only way to get it done is to do it yourself. When you have a few moments, really think about the kinds of things that will make life a little easier. Then when people ask how they can help, you'll be ready. When you tell someone something very specific, they're more comfortable doing it, and you'll get the help you need. Helping makes people feel good about themselves. Don't deprive anyone of that joy.R: Respite. Caregivers should make a point of getting away sometimes, to take a mini-respite for themselves. A movie, lunch somewhere, window shopping or just walking along the beach or through a park can be enough to get some distance, and come back with a fresh perspective on things.G: Get enough sleep. This is often the hardest one to manage because you're on someone else's schedule. But sleep is one of the best things we can do for ourselves. Eight hours are ideal, but the concept of getting eight uninterrupted hours of sleep might be impossible. Try breaking sleep up. Get what you can in one shot, but take a nap during the day. A short nap can be very refreshing and just the thing you need to get you through the day.E: Exercise. Anything will help. Walk around the block a few times a day when you have a few spare minutes. Try yoga, something that will exercise your muscles, yet relax your mind. Meditate. Spend a few minutes alone and quiet.Make RECHARGE a 'Must' and Not a 'Should'Our values motivate us and tend to influence our attitudes and behavior. If self-care isn't valued as much as caregiving, work and family, then self-care inevitably falls by the wayside. So what can you do to put yourself first.    I encourage you to carve out 30 minutes each day.

052 Practical Ways to Exchange Worry, Fear and Anxiety for Peace During a Crisis

Episode Summary: With the Coronavirus outbreak, the world is facing astronomical amounts of worry, fear, and anxiety. In episode 50, we discussed ways of defeating anxiety during a crisis like the Coronavirus. In this episode, Scott and I discuss more practical tips to exchange worry, fear, and anxiety for peace during a crisis. Trusting God is key! Quotables from the episode: It’s important not to run on our feelings, during times of crises, but rather, to stand on truth. Instead of saying, “I have to” we can shift the perspective and say “I get to…” For example, instead of I have to stay in the house for the next two weeks or longer you say, I get to spend quality time with my family. Let’s take this opportunity to do some new things, to look at the situation from a new perspective, to consider our feelings and how our feelings are often grounded in the lies that we believe. The truth is, God is still in control. Fear is really the emotional response to either a real or a perceived imminent threat, something that might happen right away. Anxiety is really an abnormal or overwhelming sense of apprehension in anticipation of a future event that may or may not ever happen. Worry is thinking about a problem or fears over something that could happen. Worry is our thoughts about an unknown future. My concern is that when we allow anxiety, worry, fear to rule and reign in our heart and our mind, we lose the chance to respond rationally, and we lose our peace. God tells us in His Word, be anxious for nothing; do not worry about tomorrow; do not be afraid. God knows what's going on in the world today. I believe that what has allowed us to get through these recent circumstances is being able to look back and recognize where God has been faithful each and every time before. Peace really comes from living in the present and remembering what has already been accomplished in the past, to assure us of our future. We tend to approach life thinking, “Show me, then I'll trust you.” But God tells us to “trust Him, then he'll show us.” Trusting God really takes the responsibility for the outcome off our shoulders and places it on God’s. How do we trust God? T-Take God at His Word (Numbers 23:19) R-Rest in His presence and promises (Matthew 11:28-30) U-Understand the outcome doesn’t depend on us S-Acknowledge that God is Sovereign (Psalm 84:11) T-Turn to the testimony of previous experiences (Revelation 12:11) An attitude of gratitude when we recognize all that God has already blessed us with amazing blessings makes it easier to trust Him. God inhabits the praises of his people. Find ways to praise Him during this time. Episode Summary: If you have ever experienced worry, fear, or anxiety, then this is the perfect episode for you! Last week we announced the release of my new book, “Breaking Anxiety’s Grip: How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises” which is now available at retailers near you and online. If you didn’t get to listen to last week’s episode, I would encourage you to go back and listen: https://drmichellebengtson.com/what-difference-between-worry-fear-and-anxiety-episode-23/ because we had a great discussion about what exactly is worry, fear, and anxiety, and where do they come from. Today we’re going to talk about the role that our trust in God plays and how we sacrifice our peace. Worry, fear, and anxiety overlap but they are not identical. Worry is thinking about problems or fears; thinking about an unknown future that creates anxious feelings. It’s really our thought processes. Fear is an emotional response to a real or perceived threat. Anxiety is the anticipation of a future threat. But all three of these start in our mind! The enemy can use our words to instill fear in others. For example, parents will say things to their children trying to protect their children but their words can cause their children to experience fear. Our fear really comes down to not trusting God completely. T-Take God at His Word           -fear ultimately comes from trusting the lies of the enemy more than trusting God’s word. So we must consciously decide to trust what God has said in His word. R-Rest in His Presence           -God doesn’t expect us to do everything right. There is no peace apart from God’s presence. If we will take time and spend time in His presence, the rest of the day goes better, and our thoughts will be more centered on Him, and we will be more at peace. U-Understand that the outcome doesn’t depend on us           -God asks that we will believe, that we will trust, that we will have faith. When we will do what He asks us to do, the outcome is His responsibility. S-Accept that God is Sovereign           -Our circumstances don’t take God by surprise. He already knows about them and what He is going to do about them. His ways are good, His plans for us are good—even when we go through pain. T-Turn to the Testimony of Previous Experiences           -we can look back both in our own experiences as well as others’ experiences and see God’s faithfulness which makes it easier to trust God. Jesus came to give us peace, not as the world gives, but in a way that only He can give. He already gave that gift. So when we get wrapped in worry, fear, and anxiety, we are rejecting His gift of peace.   Once we recognize worry, fear, and anxiety operating in our lives, we have to reject it and choose to trust God and receive His peace. True peace is not the absence of trouble but resting in the sovereignty of God in the midst of it. We have to choose to focus on the truth, rather than focus on the facts. Facts are compelling, but God’s truth trumps the facts of our circumstances. We cannot find a single promise of God’s that has ever failed. Quotables from the episode: Worry, fear, and anxiety overlap but they are not identical. Worry is thinking about problems or fears; thinking about an unknown future that creates anxious feelings. It’s really our thought processes. Fear is an emotional response to a real or perceived threat. Anxiety is the anticipation of a future threat. But all three of these start in our mind! We don’t recognize the power of our words. Our words can instill fear in others. Fear ultimately comes from trusting the lies of the enemy more than trusting God’s word. There is no peace apart from God’s presence. When we will do what He asks us to do, the outcome is His responsibility. Our circumstances don’t take God by surprise. We must actively reject and refute the spirit of fear with God’s truth, or else Jesus’s gift of peace might as well be returned “address unknown.” True peace is not the absence of trouble, but resting in the sovereignty of God in the midst of it.  Scripture References: 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given you the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind.” Recommended Resources: “Breaking Anxiety’s Grip: How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises” by Dr. Michelle Bengtson https://amzn.to/2ZSTP4N “Hope Prevails: Insights from a Doctor’s Personal Journey Through Depression” by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the Christian Literary Award Reader’s Choice Award https://amzn.to/2zB0e7J “Hope Prevails Bible Study” by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the Christian Literary Award Reader’s Choice Award https://amzn.to/2yMdN46 Social Media Links: For more hope, stay connected with Dr. Bengtson at: To order Breaking Anxiety’s Grip: https://drmichellebengtson.com/breaking-anxietys-grip/ To order Hope Prevails: https://drmichellebengtson.com/hope-prevails-book/ Website: https://drmichellebengtson.com/ Blog: https://drmichellebengtson.com/blog/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DrMichelleBengtson Twitter: https://twitter.com/DrMBengtson (@DrMBengtson) LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drmichellebengtson/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drmichellebengtson/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/drbhopeprevails/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/MichelleBengtson Radio Show Host: http://graceandtruthradio.world/shows/your-hope-filled-perspective/ This show is made possible thanks to generous donations from listeners like you.
