The UFC is back in Missouri and it brought a banger of a main event. On Saturday, UFC Kansas City goes down from T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, headlined by a welterweight scrap between Ian Machado Garry and Carlos Prates. Garry is coming off his near upset of Shavkat Rakhmonov in December, while Prates is one of the faces of the Fighting Nerds revolution that has taken the UFC by storm. So, who wins this main event and what's at stake on Saturday? Ahead of this weekend's action, MMA Fighting's Alexander K. Lee and Jed Meshew preview the main event between Garry and Prates, discuss what's at stake for the winner, wax poetic on the career of Anthony Smith as he makes his final walk to the octagon, highlight some low-key bangers, and even spend some time talking about the World's Strongest Fight between Mariusz Pudzianowski and Eddie Hall at KSW 105 on Saturday. Send us a textFrankie and Kelly Maxwell stop by the show to discuss how the band came together, their father and his love of music, their new EP, Red Shelter, sobriety, and more. *****Shurr Jr is a family power trio that consists of a guitarist/vocalist, Nick Maxwell, Drums, Frankie Maxwell, and Kelly Maxwell on bass. The siblings' father, Frank Maxwell, was an Omaha music legend who played guitar in the band Fifth of May in the ‘80s and ‘90s. No doubt, the apples didn't fall far from the tree. They're a band made up of two brothers and a sister from Sioux Falls. Their father was a well-known musician in Omaha, but he died a few years ago. Since they were a very musical family, the kids decided to do a band as a tribute to their dad... The name "Shurr Jr." is a takeoff on one of their dad's favorite sayings, "Sure, Junior" as a replacement for "Yep, okay."The name of the EP is also a nod to their father, too... He wanted to name a band or album "Red Shelter," but he passed away before he could make that happen, so the kids in Shurr Jr. decided to name that album as another tribute to him.Musically, they take elements of Pixies, Elliott Smith, Husker Du, Avett Brothers, the Replacements, and Title Fight. This is the new single/video, "Ink": https://youtu.be/u1-p5WtdQ9o?si=lEal3FveTCWIiMcz*******If you would like to contact the show about being a guest, please email us at Dauna@bettertopodcast.comUpcoming guests can be found: https://dmneedom.com/upcoming-guest Follow us on Social MediaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/author_d.m.needom/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bettertopodcastwithdmneedomIntro and Outro music compliments of Fast Suzi©2025 Better To...Podcast with D. On this episode we are joined by the Sioux Falls SD indie rock band Shurr Jr. In 2015, siblings Nick and Frankie began writing music and jamming together in their mother's garage, drawing inspiration from Elliott Smith, the Avett Brothers, Title Fight, and Charmer. At the time, their sister Kelly Maxwell was teaching herself to play guitar, often listening and vibing along to their creations. The trio's musical journey took on a deeper, more personal meaning after the loss of their father, Frank—an influential member of the Omaha, NE band Fifth of May. In honor of Frank's legacy, the siblings turned to music as a way to channel their grief and keep his spirit alive. The band's name, “Sure, Junior,” is a loving tribute to Frank's iconic catchphrase.

Ilia Topuria said they GUARANTEED him a title shot for his next fight, but if Islam Makhachev doesn't want the fight, what will Dana White and the UFC decide to do?! Ben Askren IS BACK with Daniel Cormier to talk about the dilemma facing the lightweight division and he tells DC why he think Topuria HAS TO BE Makhachev's next fight. DC argues that Islam beating Topuria wouldn't be given the props it deserves, because Ilia is moving up divisions as did Alexander Volkanovski before losing to Makhachev. On today's episode, it's clearer now more than ever that Conor McGregor's time is done with the UFC. Then, Ilia Topuria claims the UFC has promised him a lightweight title fight -- do I believe that? And, both Topuria and Charles Oliveira want a crack at Islam Makhachev next—but I'd rather see Oliveira vs. Topuria for the No. 1 contender fight. Elsewhere, Joe Pyfer isn't happy about the food poisoning that forced him to withdraw from his fight at UFC Mexico City. Plus, whether Jon Jones fights Tom Aspinall tomorrow or six months from now, I believe the outcome will be the same. And finally, Wyatt Hendrickson has won the Hodge Trophy as the top college wrestler in the country. To support this program, please leave me a review on Apple Podcasts or submit a rating on my Spotify page.CHAPTERS:McGregor is done with UFC (00:00)Topuria promised a 155 lb. title?
