It's been 10 years since The Wonder Years staked their claim as the flagship band of the 2010's pop punk revival. Suburbia I've Given You All and Now I'm Nothing is officially a decade old but still just as powerful and impactful as the day it was released. Kiel Hauck is joined by Kyle Schultz to discuss their memories of the album's release and how it took the scene by storm. During the discussion, they break down some of the album's best tracks and a few of Dan "Soupy" Campbell's best lines. They also debate where the album stands among the best pop punk releases of all time. Take a listen!

The Paris Court of Appeal is considering whether to extradite eight Italians convicted of murder in their native country more than 30 years ago. These former members of far-left groups are wanted by Rome for taking part in violent attacks and murders between the 1960s and 1980s. They were arrested in France in April and later released on bail. For decades, France gave refuge to these individuals under the "Mitterrand doctrine", which granted asylum to people convicted or wanted for "acts of a violent nature, but of political motivation". The case is being closely watched in Italy, as our correspondents report.
This week, we're discussing Years & Years again. We have a term for our teenage years - ‘adolescence' - and we are all familiar with the ‘menopause' - but there's no word for the decade or so in which, arguably, women navigate more life-altering decisions than any other - their late 20s and 30s. Or at least there wasn't, until Nell Frizzell came along and coined one: ‘the flux', aka The Panic Years, the title of her new book. For her, these began when she was 28 and called time on the relationship that had dominated her adult life thus far. It came just as her friends started settling down and having children - something she was pretty sure she wanted too. What follows is a rollicking and smart account of her ‘panic' years from hare-brained camping trips with dates to soul searching over the ethics of procreation in a time of global warming - to the gnarly conundrum of falling in love with a man who says he doesn't want children yet. It's honest and fun and thought-provoking, as was Nell herself - I hope you enjoy listening to her as much as I did. Don’t panic – but my guest this week is Nell Frizzell, the brilliant author of ‘The Panic Years’, a memoir about Nell’s journey from a single woman in her late twenties to becoming a first-time mother at 32. Listening back to this episode, I was wowed for a second time by Nell’s eloquence and honesty: she puts into words what so many women feel around those ‘panic years’ of deciding whether or not to have children – a time she also calls ‘the flux’. During this recording, we discuss everything from maternal loneliness and why it doesn’t get enough airtime, to the joys of nighttime wild swimming (Nell, NOT me, let me stress). The chronic laughter from Nell and myself through this episode is testament to how much I thoroughly enjoyed this interview – and I hope you do too. Nell’s book, The Panic Years, is out now. It's the beginning of the new year and that means new years' resolutions. Most people write them off right off the bat knowing they're not going to stick with them. Some people still go through the theatrics of coming up with new years' resolutions because they feel that's expected of them but they know they won't stick to them. Kevin and Erik have gotten very purposeful with setting new year's resolutions both personal and for the company. They have found success sticking to their resolutions in different ways whether that be to hold themselves accountable or to blast the resolutions out publicly. — Erik J. New Years' Eve Is For The Bourgeoisie Is 2021 the year the world changes for the better? Does the changing of a digit make the world suddenly wake up and do the right thing? Why do we pretend to celebrate the passing of one year to the other as a time of change, or resolve? Do we need a reason to make a change in our lives, does the changing of a year, give us that reason? And if so, why? On December 31, 2020, thousands of people couldn't breathe, and some took their last breath. There were millions of people working so we can stay safe and our loved ones can have the care they need. While others were on social media posting stuck at home with family, oh well there's always next year. And trying to play happy, look at us, we're in this together, in our warm safe home. It was hard for me to swallow the fact that so many people are suffering and so many people don't care. Celebrating New Years' Eve seems so wrong this year, and although I never pull the class card, very bourgeois. I would understand celebrating the vaccine, or a new president, or a stimulus package. But a New YEAR with empty streets, and closed businesses..., I don't think so. This New Years' eve was an excuse to have a party, not a reason...n'est pas? www.WendiCooper.com WendiCooper@mac.com Music: Osri Digital Post/Tom Osri Produced by: Wendi Cooper/C Spot Run Productions, LLC

Today I’m joined by songwriting duo and hosts of the brilliant Sodajerker on Songwriting podcast, Simon Barber and Brian O’Connor, to talk about Paul Simon’s classic middle-aged divorcee record Still Crazy After All These Years. We talk about how the album reflects an ‘adult’ approach in subject matter and composition, how aspects of it reveal more as the listener ages, the balance between specificity in Simon’s lyrics but still leaving a place for the listener to find themselves in the song, whether drummer Steve Gadd deserves a writing credit on 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, whether the Simon and Garfunkel reunion song My Little Town fits in the flow of the record and Simon and Brian reflect on their experience interviewing Paul Simon for their podcast.
