POPULARITY
A band's name is your first impression, and sometimes it's all you need to hear to know you'll be a fan... Sometimes it's the opposite, and you know it'll never be for you. Either way, a band name is the source of their identity and eventually loses all textbook meaning, remaining only as a powerful symbol of the music it represents. These are our favorites, and least favorites. - Join the HARDLORE PATREON to watch every single weekly episode early and ad-free, alongside exclusive monthly episodes: https://patreon.com/hardlorepod - Join the HARDLORE DISCORD: https://discord.gg/jA9rppggef Cool links: HardLore Official Website/HardLore Records store: https://hardlorepod.com Get 10% off your order from GUILTY PARTY, the best menswear store in North America with code HARDLORE! https:guiltyparty.co Get 15% off MADD VINTAGE with code HARDLORE15! https://maddvintage.com/ Get 20% OFF @manscaped + Free Shipping with promo code HARDLORE at MANSCAPED.com! #ad #manscapedpod FOLLOW HARDLORE: INSTAGRAM | https://www.instagram.com/hardlorepod/ TWITTER | https://twitter.com/hardlorepod SPOTIFY | https://spoti.fi/3J1GIrp APPLE | https://apple.co/3IKBss2 FOLLOW COLIN: INSTAGRAM | https://www.instagram.com/colinyovng/ TWITTER | https://www.twitter.com/ColinYovng FOLLOW BO: INSTAGRAM | https://www.instagram.com/bosxe/ TWITTER | https://www.twitter.com/bosxe 00:00:00 - Start 00:02:35 - Smash Mouth 00:03:57 - The Misfits 00:05:41 - Metallica 00:08:02 - Death Cab For Cutie 00:09:02 - 100 Demons 00:11:25 - Anthrax 00:12:44 - Nine Inch Nails 00:14:06 - The Beatles 00:15:45 - Alice in Chains 00:16:55 - Slayer 00:17:52 - Pearl Jam 00:19:19 - The Killers 00:19:41 - The Killer 00:20:53 - Underdog 00:22:25 - Gorilla Biscuits 00:23:15 - Xibalba 00:24:41 - The Cure 00:26:11 - Dance Gavin Dance 00:26:52 - Wartime Manner 00:27:57 - Death 00:29:18 - Fall Out Boy 00:30:37 - Pupil Slicer 00:31:15 - Mil-Spec 00:32:39 - Crowbar 00:33:34 - Bolt Thrower 00:34:54 - Pink Floyd 00:36:05 - My Dying Bride 00:37:00 - Deicide 00:38:06 - Nails 00:39:22 - Korn 00:40:37 - Bands Who Use the Letter Z in place of S 00:41:42 - Pardon This Interuption 00:45:38 - Type O Negative 00:48:27 - Crown of Thornz 00:49:41 - Pantera 00:51:00 - Bands Using AD 00:52:07 - Angel Du$t 00:52:31 - Triptykon 00:53:47 - Donnybrook! 00:56:17 - Foo Fighters 00:56:58 - Limp Bizkit 00:59:21 - Suicidal Tendencies 01:00:40 - Primus 01:01:18 - Goo Goo Dolls 01:02:57 - Shai Hulud 01:03:57 - Oasis 01:04:46 - The Beach Boys 01:06:39 - Stormtroopers of Death 01:07:23 - Assuck 01:08:43 - Jimmy Eat World 01:09:22 - Slipknot 01:10:11 - Sick Of It All 01:11:25 - Righteous Jams 01:14:09 - Marker 106 01:15:06 - Live 01:16:08 - Earth Crisis 01:18:00 - Marker 112 01:18:10 - Geographical Names 01:18:28 - Deadmau5 01:18:42 - Dying Fetus 01:19:09 - Butthole Surfers 01:19:28 - Neurosis 01:20:08 - Jawbreaker 01:21:02 - Weekend Nachos

Now listeners you KNOW we are all rooting for the Seattle Mariners to harness the sun-like energy of the sport's Number One Ranked Farm System, blast their way to the AL West title , and then supernova all over whichever pitiful wretches the National League sends forth to face then. …BUT, the Mariners are instead 2-3, with a three-game losing streak in tow. It's only five games and there is LITERALLY NOTHING TO BE LEARNED, but the content must flow. And, once more, we pod. Pat McCrory of Turnstile and Angel Du$t came on the podcast to talk about a wide variety of subjects. We kicked things off with Pat talking about growing up close to Baltimore. That leads to a discussion about the Baltimore Orioles where he confesses that his mom is a die-hard fan even though they have been one of the worst teams in baseball of late. Pat also brings up a funny story about when he was offered a security guard position at Urban Outfitters and took the job. There is a bunch of great music talk in this episode. Pat explains how both Turnstile and Angel Du$t toured non-stop before the pandemic starting and how he just wanted a short month or two break to rest up for future shows. Be careful what you wish for! His break, like many other musicians, has turned into a long year. We discuss the wild live experience from his bands and what it will be like when everyone can start touring again. He tells a story about a stretch of acoustic shows he did with Angel Du$t, in which he was extremely nervous about because everyone would know if he messed up. It turned out to be a huge success. Also, there was an interesting conversation about playing in his hometown of Baltimore and how he always wants to make the next show better than the last. I have always been curious about people's thoughts behind getting music into people's ear while being in a hardcore punk band. Pat talks about that whole process as well. He says the great thing about punk is you have the ability to say whatever you want, play whatever you want, and do whatever you want. We chat about the band not being as active on social media as other groups. Pat explains that they use their platform as something that will add value to society. They always want to put purpose into their post. One particular post from last year came around when Riley Gale passed away. Pat talks about how much Riley meant to him and the band. Riley was like family to him. Some of the other areas we hit is how he started a twitch recently to play video games with his friends. Pat also started doing photography as a hobby and almost always brings his camera on the road. He had the perfect opportunity to shoot in Australia a few years back. We close out the show talking about how he met the members the two bands he's in, always feeling included in Turnstile even though he joined in 2016, and managing his time. Few people are the type to get up and do anything. In a sea of people who are lethargic, those who go and learn, those who aren't afraid to ask and those who are willing to roll the dice typically get rewarded. Derek Rathbun is such a person. Not yet 21, Rathbun has toured the Europe and North America with his band Substance, he's shot portraits of Julian Casablancas, Kero Kero Bonito and Angel Du$t to name a few and he's created videos and flyers for multiple projects. But that's not all as he's also released his own music, booked his own tours, created his own scene and booked and promoted shows for touring acts. In a short time he's proved that he's not just a musician with DIY ethic, he's a one man music machine. 24 years ago on June 5, 1995 — Just after 6am, a 'J' Train headed into Manhattan rear-ends an 'M' Train on the Williamsburg Bridge, killing the train operator and injuring 64 others With New York hosting the World Pride Festival in June and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots approaching at the end of the month, Police Commissioner O'Neill made a public statement on June 6th formally apologizing for the actions of the NYPD in 1969. 10 years ago on June 8, 2009 — The first section of the High Line opens, from Gansevoort to 20th Street, 8 years ago on June 7, 2011 — The second section of the High Line opens from 20th to 30th Street, and this week, the final section has been opened, completing the park. On June 4th, a ribbon-cutting ceremony opened the final section, a small spur that extends to the east at 30th Street toward Tenth Avenue. This section of the High Line can safely be accessed now that construction on the eastern part of Hudson Yards has been completed, since the Spur of the High Line passes underneath one of the new buildings. After emerging from the building, the walkway opens up to a large plaza area above Tenth Avenue that will host a rotating selection of public art, with plans for more upcoming events to be held there. And, in case you were wondering: Although the other sections opened on June 8th, 7th, and 4th, The third section of the High Line, from 30th Street through the west side of Hudson Yards, wasn't able to open on a June date, and instead opened in September 2014. The number of new measles cases in the city continues to decrease, but cases nationwide in 2019 have surpassed the number last seen 25 years ago in 1994, with 971 reported cases as of May 30, 2019. New York still represents the majority of the yearly cases, but the outbreak in Brooklyn seems to have begun to slow. Within the city, there were only 17 new cases reported since May 29th, with Williamsburg, Boro Park, and Sunset Park being described as Neighborhoods with Ongoing Transmissions. New cases peaked in March and April, and have continued to decrease in May and June. You can view more information about measles at nyc.gov/doh or call 311 for information on where you or your child can get vaccinated against the disease. Danny and Brad find themselves in the middle of what appears to be the set for the next Fast & Furious movie, as they discuss some of March 2019's noteworthy music releases. There's chat about everything from the glacial hardcore-prog-rock-shoegaze-whatever-it-is of Brutus, to the chipper and quirky acousti-core of Angel Du$t, not to mention the game-changing death metal savagery of Venom Prison and the latest cinematic indie-rock odyssey from Foals... The other albums discussed come from sadboi icons American Football, British metalcore bastions While She Sleeps, UK rock's bright young hopes Holding Absence (who Danny and Brad also saw live) and – sigh – Weezer... It’s the 2 year anniversary of That Awful Sound! For this special episode we revisit New Found Glory’s lovesick, middle school anthem “Dressed to Kill” and its cringey video featuring a y2k-era nice-guy stalker lusting after an equally psychotic Rachel Leigh Cook. To commemorate the 2-year anniversary we dive deeper than ever into our horrible fashion choices, including fake piercings made from household items, hot topic socks worn thin, and temporary tattoos purchased FAR too late in life. We also recap our favorite albums of the year, including Angel Du$t’s “Rock The Fuck On Forever,” Helms Alee’s “Stillicide,” Creative Adult’s “Fear of Life,” Dinosaur Jr’s “Give A Glimpse Of What Yer Not,” BADBADNOTGOOD’s “IV,” Nocturnal Habits’ “New Skin For Old Children,” Solange’s “A Seat At The Table,” Field Music’s “Common Time,” Autolux’s “Pussy’s Dead,” and Royal Canoe’s “Something Got Lost Between Here and The Orbit”
