Today we're all coming to you from Boston to talk podcasting and M O N E Y. Katie and Katherine met a work a few years ago and found themselves asking each other questions that can feel taboo like what is a normal salary, what kind of benefits are you utilizing, and how do you negotiate? When they realized that these topics might be valuable to other women as well, they started The 411k! What is your first experience with money? Do you have a story that comes to mind? As a kid, Katherine worked for her spending money and Katie lived by "if it was on sale you could get it". We don't realize how our stories about money growing up translate to our adult lives until we start to pay closer attention to our finances (which is financial literacy). [energize + connect + inspire] In today's episode I take a short trip down mem lane to my first podcast episode where my tag line was "making unemployment my job because there's NO WAY I'm going back to that 9-5". I'm still not going back to that 9-5, or back to anything (and I know that a lot of people aren't either and I touch on the shifting of online work, social media, and work/life freedom in the episode), but my job updated to using this podcast to energize, connect, and inspire you just as so many other people inspire me :) so much love - and get excited for season 3! Why I started meditating (and you should too). Meditation is a tool I learned right after college when I *finally* realized I was on a path of life that I didn't actually want. I got a life coach, (hi Casey Edward), and started learning how to witness my thoughts instead of chasing them around the playground of my mind. On this episode, I wrap up a month full of amazing queer guests with some of my own thoughts and experiences on being LGBTQ+! But first, I start by going through a visualization that I came up with this morning. **BEAUTIFUL LIFE VISUALIZATION**: play this song, close your eyes, and imagine all the things in your life that have made you and your life feel beautiful. For me I thought about frolicking in the ocean at Malibu beach, skiing down a mountain, sining in the car at the top of my lungs, dancing at a Chelsea Cutler concert, etc...take the time and space to really reach into that memory and remember what you saw, tasted, felt, and heard. Then start to mix in moments of life that you haven't experienced yet. The first thing that came to mind for me was holding my (future) kids hand and traveling somewhere I haven't been yet. Let the memories and future memories mix together and keep your eyes closed as you feel the music and your mind. Then we get into JoJo Siwa coming out on Tiktok as well as why I specifically come out as bisexual now, when I haven't in the past. (hint, it has to do with a miscommunication with my old co-worker as well as my experiences with bi-phobia and bi-erasure). Also mentioned a bunch - Avery Cyrus - Interview on Team Colour Sound on YouTube THANK YOU for every single person that takes the time to listen and join me here on my podcast each week
