24th Ramadan 1446 AHMarch 23rd 2025- Dr. Keith Moore, a Canadian embryologist, analyzed Quranic verses and concluded that their scientific accuracy suggests divine origin. - Dr. Persaud, another Canadian professor, supported Moore's findings and stated that the Quran's descriptions of science are too precise to be coincidental. - The lecture highlights that non-Muslim scientists have recognized the Quran's truth, while many Muslims have not deeply studied it. - Imam Ali's will advises Muslims to prioritize the Quran and warns against letting others understand it before them. - Social media narratives falsely claim that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) secretly learned scientific knowledge from others. - The Quraysh initially called the Prophet a poet, then a sorcerer, and finally insane, but never accused him of learning from scholars. - Historical evidence does not support claims that the Prophet acquired knowledge from experts in medicine or astronomy. - Opponents of Islam feared the Quran's impact and warned people to avoid hearing its verses. - The Prophet's teachings continued to spread despite opposition, showing that accusations against him were baseless. - The Quran remains a source of knowledge and guidance, and its connection to scientific facts strengthens its credibility.Donate towards our programs today: https://jaffari.org/donate/Jaffari Community Centre (JCC Live)

Despite the rise of people identifying as "non-religious" in Canada and the growing trends of secularism in our post-Christian culture, there is good news on the horizon. Alpha Canada released a 2024 report that indicated signs of hope and opportunity. It revealed: Post-pandemic, church leaders in Canada are perceiving an inexplicable spiritual openness and curiosity in our communities. This “spiritual openness” includes lapsed Christians, or those with no faith, becoming more spiritually curious in the past three years, receptive to the message that Jesus saves, and displaying a “higher likelihood” that they would actually come to church. Church leaders across Canada are prioritizing sharing the Gospel with an increased clarity and commitment to the Great Commission. Our own annual Spiritual Health of Men survey, sent to several thousand men connected with our ministry, consistently shows that sharing their faith is an ongoing challenge for men, but also an amazing opportunity for the church to lean in, and where men and men's ministries can play an important part. In this month's podcast, we will talk about these important matters! Join us as we chat with Jason Persaud, the National Director of Church Experience for Alpha Canada. Jason and Dean discuss the ongoing challenges of evangelism for men and the great reason for hope in these exciting days as God opens doors for the Gospel to be shared in our communities! Next month, when delegates from around the world meet in Baku, Azerbaijan at COP29, the biggest questions on the table will have to do with money. Avinash Persaud, special adviser on climate change for the Inter-American Development Bank, has spent his career looking for ways to make global markets work to unlock climate financing. He says the biggest challenges arise from a simple reality: “The people who benefit and the people who pay are different.” Persaud tells Akshat Rathi why he believes climate change is an “uninsurable” event, and discusses the kinds of financial instruments and commitments that can help poorer countries contribute to the energy transition and adapt to a warmer world.    Explore further: Previous episode with Avinash Persaud about pressuring the World Bank and International Monetary Fund to accelerate the roll-out of clean technologies in developing countries Past episode about the significance of the COP28 text   Past episode with African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina about financial instruments the bank is using to encourage investors to fund green development projects Zero is a production of Bloomberg Green. In today's episode, Portfolio Manager Ramona Persaud sits down with host Pamela Ritchie to discuss strategies for finding dividends in today's evolving markets. Ramona kicks off the conversation by addressing the growing valuation dispersion across various sectors and geographies. She explains how smaller caps, international markets, and higher-risk financial sectors offer opportunities to capitalize on valuation differences, particularly in areas where market fears and volatility are high. The discussion then shifts to how Ramona navigates market volatility. She shares her approach of deploying cash when opportunities arise, using recent examples like the Japanese yen carry trade volatility. She leverages these spikes to buy quality companies at more attractive valuations to provide more stability in uncertain times. Ramona also touches on the dispersion in China, where market fear has created selective opportunities. While these valuations are rising, she also continues to find value in Chinese-exposed companies or those benefiting from Chinese demand. To close off, Ramona emphasizes the importance of keeping cash on hand to capitalize on the expected U.S. election-driven volatility. While she remains cautious to not hold excessive amounts, she does remains ready to invest when the time is right.   Recorded on September 24th , 2024.   At Fidelity, our mission is to build a better future for Canadian investors and help them stay ahead. Set against the backdrop of a rapidly changing society, this novel offers a poignant exploration of love, loss, and redemption, inviting readers to journey through the heartaches and triumphs of its unforgettable characters. Today on the show, we welcome long-time dividend investor Ramona Persaud. Ramona touches upon volatility, compound growth, and of course, her dividend investing strategy. Ramona explains how her investment strategy works with in a volatile market environment. She says she focuses on key pillars including excess return or alpha, downside protection and a reasonable level of income. Ramona says she's currently looking at the markets with an open mind. She alludes that there may be a perception of a de-risked economy due to factors like inflation and supply chain issues. She adds, interest rates will most likely not go as high or as low post global financial crisis, but rather in between. When rates are high, this is good for value and great for economically sensitive stocks. Ramona believes there is a potential for a more stock-picking market where skilled picking can drive differentiation and success. She notes how dividend stocks have changed and evolved due to an increase in companies paying dividends. Historically, financials were the main dividend payers but have shifted over time. Ramona stresses the Importance of Active Management. Passive dividend strategies may not provide the desired volatility reduction. So for her, she advocates for an active and intentional approach to dividend investing.   Recorded on March 12th, 2024.   At Fidelity, our mission is to build a better future for Canadian investors and help them stay ahead. A truly diverse workforce is required to protect companies and countries from a growing variety of cyber threats. However, according to a report from (ISC)2, the current cybersecurity industry is predominantly male and white, with only 26% of cybersecurity professionals identifying as ethnic and racial minorities, and only 14% identifying as female. In one of our latest CERTIFIED Academy: IT webinars, we sat down with two incredible cybersecurity professionals: Priya Senthilkumar and Yulini Persaud.  Priya is currently the Vice President of Technology at Pearson VUE. She is a thought leader who has always stepped outside her comfort zone and taken risks in her career. Her journey at Pearson started in 2008 as a Project Manager and she has grown over the last 13 years into a leadership path, where she has not only grown personally but also developed other women leaders on her team. She serves on Women Leading in Technology (WLiT) board, and volunteers time with her city's sustainability commission. Yulini is a Senior Information Security Analyst for The New York Times, where she's worked for the past four and a half years. Yulini started her career in technology 10 years ago as a Cisco Networking student at Thomas A. Edison CTE High School. She then attended Monroe College, where she was the first graduate of their BS in Computer Networks and Cybersecurity program, and earned her MS in Information Security Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University.   In this episode, we discussed how to attract a diverse student population to your classroom, plus how diversity impacts the cybersecurity workforce. In her dissertation, “God Must be a Trini: The Transformation of Hinduism into a Caribbean Religion,” she uses Hinduism in Trinidad to challenge studies on diasporic Hinduism that center India as the homeland, scholarship on the Caribbean that ignores the influence of Asian migration, and the rigidness of categories within the study of religion.  She is on the steering committees for the North American Hindu Unit and the Religion in South Asia Unit at the American Academy of Religion and a member of the Intersectional Critical Hindu Studies Group. In this episode, Dr. Blair Bigham and Dr. Mojola Omole speak with two co-authors of a new guideline published in CMAJ entitled "Preventive care recommendations to promote health equity".Dr. Nav Persaud and Dr. Aisha Lofters explain the importance of embedding health equity into healthcare and discuss specific ways public policy and individual primary care physicians can work together to promote equity in their practices. The conversation highlighted some key recommendations such as:Begin outreach at the age of 45 instead of at the age of 50 for colon cancer screening. This recommendation is based on the recognition that younger ages of diagnosis are being observed, particularly among people who are disadvantaged. The goal is to eliminate barriers for individuals ready to start screening and prioritize health equity during implementation.Offering publicly funded HPV self-testing for cervical cancer screening, especially for disadvantaged individuals who may face barriers to traditional screening methods.Implementing depression screening and offering online counseling programs or cognitive behavioral therapy for patients who screen positive.Providing resources for families experiencing poverty, such as a one-page sheet detailing available support.Prioritizing care for specific populations based on inequities in health outcomes, such as prioritizing cardiovascular disease screening in women due to discrimination and sexism within the healthcare system.Overall, Drs. Persaud and Lofters advocate for a shift towards recognizing that inequities in health outcomes exist and that primary care physicians need to embed equity into their healthcare practices.Join us as we explore medical solutions that address the urgent need to change healthcare. The developing world is most affected by climate change but has contributed the least to the problem. Meanwhile, rich countries historically exacerbated the environmental crisis and grew wealthy as a result -- but aren't helping developing countries build climate resilience, which is now more crucial than ever to slowing climate change everywhere. Economist Avinash Persaud has an ambitious proposal to reimagine that dynamic: the Bridgetown Initiative, a groundbreaking vision of how rich countries can catalyze climate mitigation, contribute to loss and damages and help build a sustainable future for all.

Welcome to another episode of Outrage + Optimism, where we examine issues at the forefront of the climate crisis, interview change-makers, and transform our anger into productive dialogue about building a sustainable future. In this episode, co-hosts Christiana Figueres, Tom Rivett-Carnac, and Paul Dickinson discuss the monstrous profits made by Big Oil last year, how at least one fossil fuel firm plans to invest its gains, and what it all means for the climate agenda going forward. They also speak to Avinash Persaud (Avi), Special Envoy to the Prime Minister of Barbados on Investment and Financial Services and creator of the 2022 Bridgetown Initiative, and we have music from gifted musician Scotty Grand. The team opens with the astounding report that BP, Chevron, Equinor, ExxonMobil, Shell, and TotalEnergies together made more than $200 billion in profits in 2022. What's even more shocking? BP followed with an announcement that in the interests of “energy security,” it's scaling back its 2030 emissions reductions targets from 40% to 25%. Let's just say the trio doesn't mince words in response. Outrage indeed! Next, Avi Persaud outlines his work on the 2022 Bridgetown Initiative with Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley. While climate change impacts us all, it does so unevenly. Those who suffer disproportionately have the narrowest access to capital support. Can our current economic system address this problem? Persaud leads a fascinating discussion on the power of global financeーwhen deployed creativelyーto drive extraordinary changemaking. Find out how callable capital, international reserve currency, and other key levers could meet the significant systemic challenges in front of us today.
