Have you ever reasoned or talked yourself out of something you really want? Cerebral thoughts in the head can explain away the pull of what's going on in the heart. But not everything has to be by-the-book, or have a rational purposeful "Because" as an answer to the "Why". Affirm when it's ok to the moved by the heart, and not just led by the head. Sometimes, that internal pull of "I want to" is a good enough reason to left go of resistance. The still small voice inside you can get louder, because it's actually You taking care of You, affirming you are simply enough, just as you are.

If you are interested in working with me, join the waitlist and be the first to know when spots open up: bit.ly/callwaitlist Couple on vacation, faced with a plethora of snacks each night. Finding themselves overeating on these foods and they couldn't stop…. This can feel tricky; how do we get ourselves to a place where this isn't appealing? Where i don't want to overeat even thought I WANT TO! What i told this couple is something you can utilize as well So that is what we are talking about on today's episode, what to do if you are faced with a situation where you consistently find yourself overeating and unable to get your brain to a better place- a couple strategies to deal with this Ok so this couple is on vacation and each night there is a huge potluck with tons of food, when dinner is over, everyone keeps snacking: chips, dips, cheese and crackers, cookies, cake all the things Everyone else is doing it, all these delectable foods right there. You don't want to overeat, but you also want to I will throw out there these are new clients so they have just started using a lot of the tools I offer. Many of my longer time clients are in a place where they genuinely DON'T want to eat those things, but regardless we can all find ourselves in this place of wanting to. so , they felt really stuck. They were making a plan, but not sticking to it when it came to those snacks foods and desire to eat to them. He said I'm pretty sure i ate to 100% satiety on chips and dip So this is what i told them- make your plan for the day to overeat the chips and dip. When we decide from the adult part of our brain, we are not allowing our toddler brain to get away with anything. We don't reinforce the habit that if you throw a fit you get what you want, taht is part of why we plan in the first place. When we use the adult part of our brain to plan, suddenly we are in a calm present state with the food. Yes, we are going to choose to eat to 100% satiety on chips and dip- we will be present and aware with them, not getting away with anything. Suddenly….the food becomes a lot less appealing, because it's not really about the food, its about the thoughts and emotions behind the food Strategies Plan to overeat: I teach all of my clients there are two parts of our brain, the adult part of the brain that wants to lose weight, and the toddler part of our brain that just wants pleasure from food. It always gets a candy bar when you go to the grocery store, in this case it always gets all the chips and dip when you go to a potluck, and it is going to throw a fit to continue to get what it wants. Whatever the foods are you think you will overeat, plan to overeat them. Aka eat them to a level of discomfort. This takes the power of your toddler throwing a fit away from your toddler brain. Nope, you are not getting what you want because i already decided this is what we are doing What this does is reinforces that the adults make the decisions, the toddler brain throwing a fit doesn't get it what it wants. The more our brain throws a fit and we concede, the more our brain is going to throw a fit. We have to teach our brain that you can throw a fit but you will not get what you want, and guess what? It will stop throwing the fit. It is literally like training a toddler. This also changes the emotional state, the energy state you are showing up to this event with. Showing up with a plan to overeat, knowing it is “ok”, I have planned for this, I am not getting away with anything creates calm. As opposed to showing up worrying that you will overeat, panicking about what foods will be there. Resisting the suggestions by your brain to overeat which increase desire. You create a place of control for yourself. All of the sudden you are able to be present with the food. You are able to taste each and every bite of the chips and the dip and the cookies….and they probably aren't as good as you thought. You probably lose the desire entirely to overeat them. Why on earth would rational me want to overeat this food that doesnt taste that good to a place where I feel sick? Decide ahead of time how you want to feel in your body This is huge for my clients, how do i want to feel after this meal or event? Weighed down? Bloated? Tiered? Sick? Probably not…i want to feel present in my body, grounded, energized….this helps connect you with your body Focus on the reason you are there The reason we are at a party is never the food….i mean maybe but really not, it's about the people, the experience, connecting with others, spending time…one thing i ask my clients is what else is going on at this event that you want to put your focus on instead of worrying about the food? Put it in perspective, if you find your mind back in a place of worry, panic, doubt, overwhelm, readjust- i'm here for the people I'm Hayley Sohn, Nutritionist, Weight Loss Expert and your host of Weight Loss Without Dieting. Nicholas Dolinger is the author of Sunbathing, I Want To, a collection of theological poems, as well as other works published by Expat Press and Terror House. He is also the host of The Beautiful Toilet podcast, and a business reporter for Epoch Times. We talk about the classic Dr. Dooom (Kool Keith) album First Come, First Served, as well as Yukio Mishima, having diarrhea while on LSD, and the implicit politics of wearing a wig.
We do lots of things we don't particularly want to do...and it's not realistic to get excited about ALL of those things. But, how many of them are real priorities, that will have meaningful or long-term benefit? And what would it look like if—for those things—we could change our "I Have To" to "I Want To?" In our new podcast, John Brummitt and Chris Compton talk it over and provide insight about switching our paradigm, to help us feel excited about working towards the things that really matter in our lives.

BEFORE I DIE... I Want To__________________________________ Life is a gift: Death an irony: and what we choose to do in between: what really matters. In this episode of EXPRESS YOURSELF - BEFORE I DIE... I Want To_____________________ DearJames® discusses the soulful experiment artist Candy Chang created after the loss of a loved one and takes your calls live to discuss the same. Overcoming an extended period of grief and depression: by embracing gratitude and finding clarity in her life by routinely contemplating death: Candy sought a daily reminder of the gift of life. She wanted to know what humanity felt about Life and Living: as well as Death and Dying: so she painted the side of a building with black chalk paint: stencil painted the phrase: BEFORE I DIE...I Want To__________________________________ : with repeating lines for passersby to write and express their thoughts, aspirations and desires: expressions of life, that really matter. This act of humanity and consciousness went global: with multiple wall duplications popping up in multiple towns, cities and countries around the globe. With permission from the Before I Die global art project: DearJames seeks to engage his audience in participating on this online wall. DearJames invites you to reflect on your life: share your personal aspirations: discuss your greatest hopes, dreams and wishes: in this public display of humanity. Throughout the show: DearJames® will take your calls live: as well as read entries left on the wall. To leave your entry, simply post your comment. If inspired: share this post: simply asking others to post their comment on the original post. Together we will create the largest BEFORE I DIE... I Want To online art wall of its kind. 3 Simple Mindset ShiftsDesire vs ShameInstead of letting shame drive your goals, try harnessing the power of desire. Instead of, "I need," or "I should," try . . ."I WANT TO . . . !""I want to stop yelling at my teen.""I want to appreciate my teen."Can you feel the difference?Rather than doing it out of shame, you're doing it for you, out of desire. When it comes to your goals or resolutions, drop the shame. Do it out of love. Do it out of desire for who you want to be.This will be a powerful example for your teens. This will also help you change your mindset around what you and your teen "need" to do versus what you "want" them or you to do. This will help you drop the shame when parenting.Who You Are vs What You DoWho we are determines what we do. Focus on who you are or who you want to become. Instead of focusing on what needs to be done, explore who you must be to do those things. This will help you parent with a new perspective. Rather than focusing on what you've done "wrong," you can focus on who you've become. Rather than focusing on your teen's actions, you can better focus on who they are and who they are becoming. Who you are is the driving force behind what you do. Be the person that you want to be.Achieve more in 2021 by doing LESS!Seems like everyone has a list of things that they want to do in the upcoming year. There's one problem . . . So, rather than focusing on all the new things that you want to do in 2021, rather than coming up with a list of "To Do's" try identifying the things that you want to stop doing this year. What are some areas that take up the most time, energy, resources or money? What if you stopped eating out? How much money, time, and health would that save you?Our time, energy, and resources are limited. When we try to achieve more by doing more, it often puts stress on one of those areas. When we start freeing up time, energy, and resources, it empowers you to double your focus on the areas of your life that are most important. Try it out this year. Here's some ideas that I've done less of in the past:Stop arguing with others.I was able to save time and feel better towards others. Stop focusing on the negative/problems/obstacles.This helped me be happier, empowered, and find the opportunities and the positives in the midst of the negative. Again and again, we wait for a date on a Calendar. We try to get ahead but we stop after a short period of time. Continuing in the cycle of “ I WANT TO” but not really sticking to the plan to accomplishing our goals.
Many of us live in a dichotomous world where we are told we can create whatever we want from our lives, choose any profession, live any life, yet we find ourselves saying “I have to do this” all the time. This video helps you either change or reframe those “I Have To’s” into “I Want To’s”...
As James Malinchak shares, "Learn to say I WILL, not I WANT TO." Mindset is everything, as the greatest battles take place in our thinking. When we see the gifts we have been given, our mindset will follow suit. Plus, why no one wanted to attend an atheist convention; Martin Luther on true repentance; what Ron Johnson told Steve Jobs about finding the meaning of life; Nikki Tayebian on losing her depression and thoughts of suicide when she saw Jesus in a dream; Harvard Business School on "future perfect planning" when it comes to goals; Tiger Woods and the power of coaching; the Apostle Paul on things that are lawful but not beneficial; and Joe Martin, the youngest professor in Florida's history, on overcoming poverty, violent crime and drugs.
Hey Everyone - Welcome to another weekly episode of The Standup Podcast! While we've discussed User Stories in the past, we feel there's an important part of the User Story that always gets little love, but honestly, is THE most important part of the User Story: User Voice. AS A... I WANT TO... SO THAT I CAN User Voice is the whole reason for the User Story's existence. It's the USER part of a User Story. Who are we building this for? Why is it important? What will it help them do? It build a share understanding and empathy with your end user. Easily abused, frequently misunderstood, but we hope through todays episode we give more clarity around this vital component of Scrum.
In this, the final episode of season 1, I’ll be talking about one of the most powerful weapons in the productivity-ists arsenal GOAL SETTING. Before I go into that though, last week’s episode introduced 5 free productivity apps which I do encourage you to try. I chose to highlight 5 but I could probably have found 25 if I’d put my mind to it. For every great productivity app though there are 100 more that will steal your time and slow you down and distract you, and even with productivity apps you can get too much of a good thing. One of the very best productivity tips I can offer is to switch your phone off every now and again. Try and form the habit (listen to episode 13 for advice on that one) of restricting your phone use for an hour before you go to bed and an hour after you wake up. This will allow you to focus on all the things you should be doing instead of checking Facebook, or twitter, or getting lost in clickbait, watching YouTube vidoes or opening up your work email. The American motivational speaker Daymond John believes that “the last thing I read at night will likely manifest when I'm sleeping. You become what you think about the most.” Unquote… So take a bit of time out to relax and enjoy life while you can, avoid the phone at night. If you banish the phone form your bedroom in fact you’ll sleep better as a result. Oh and if you use your phone as an alarm, as I often do myself, putting it in another room will give you very good reason to get out of bed sharpish the next morning. Now with Season 2 coming up soon, I’m very interested in including your thoughts and comments within it. I’d love to hear what productivity techniques you are adopting or what matters that you are struggling with out there. You can send me your thoughts via the contact page at filmproproductivity.com or by catching me on Twitter @filmproprodpod. Book Recommendation: Your Best Year Yet! Without dreams and goals there is no living, only merely existing, and that is not why we are here.” Unquote. When I first set out to create this podcast and I know I’ve referred to it before here - but I FAILED. I would say I failed because I was unspecific and uncertain in what I wanted to do. More recently though I dusted myself down and I tried again, and I did a few things differently. Firstly - I knew EXACTLY WHAT SORT OF PODCAST I WANTED TO MAKE, and… Secondly - I GAVE MYSELF A DEADLINE, and I have to say that date that you know is looming ever closer, really puts a rocket up your backside when it comes to drive. Next - When I assessed the goal I was trying to achieve I created a tactical action plan to achieve it, and I stuck to it. And this endeavour has not been easy at all. It’s been far more costly than I’d thought possible, the learning curve has been sharper than I’d imagined and, and it’s taken far more time too. Researching and recording a single episode doesn’t take just a few hours – it takes days… but I did it anyway. YES - This is a vastly time-consuming thing for me, but the last main reason that I think that I have succeeded is because – well - I WANT TO - because I absolutely believe that it WILL HELP creatives, filmmakers, and other film professionals to move toward a BETTER, HAPPIER LIFE, and that in turn gives me great satisfaction. THE LESSON Have you thought about what you want to be doing in five years' time? Are you clear about what your main objective at work is at the moment? Do you know what you want to have achieved by the end of today? The world renowned motivational speaker and life coach Tony Robbins says that “Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.” – I’ve left the topic of goal setting till now as it is such an important part of the productivity landscape that it deserves its place in the final episode of the series. Goals are essential, and whether they are large or small, daily, weekly, hourly or for life - without them we tend to meander along and settle for where we are. With New Year just around the corner, and a whole load of productivity lessons behind us, I figured this would be the ideal time to delve into the topic. I covered it to some extent in episode 11, THE TWELVE WEEK YEAR, but let’s look a little bit closer. The SMART acronym which is also known as the 5 GOLDEN RULES OF GOAL SETTING is where we will begin. SMART translates to: · SPECIFIC. · MEASURABLE. · ATTAINABLE. · RELEVANT. · TIME BOUND. By SPECIFIC we of course mean that your goals must be clear and well defined. Without a precise direction to travel in, you will get lost trying to pin down your vague, unspecific and ever changing goals - and that will simply mislead you and short circuit your endeavour. By defining precisely where you want to end up, you have much more realistic chance of getting there. An example of a specific goal might be, to write a first draft of your new film by a date exactly 6 weeks from today. That goal in turn could be part of a larger specific life goal. And your goals MUST also be MEASURABLE. Unless you are precise about each element of the goal, and include dates, potential costs etc then you will find it difficult to measure the degree of your success. If your goal is simply defined as "To lose weight" how will you know when you have been successful? Without a way to measure your success you miss out on the opportunity to celebrate your win. The SMART acronym says that you MUST also set ATTAINABLE Goals. In Episode 13 I talked about Stephen Guises MINI HABITS. In that system he aims to ensure that the habits you set out to create are achievable as the damage caused by failure, can be very destructive to your will power – your willingness to try again. But Stephen Guise was talking about HABITS and that’s NOT what this episode is about. We are talking about GOALS – And although you can certainly aim small and achieve the little wins, the goals I encourage you to consider should make you want to "raise the bar" and aim for greatness. I think I have probably use this Peter Drucker quote before but it’s a very important point - He said that “Nothing is less productive than to make more efficient what should not be done at all.” I mention this as these goals MUST be RELEVANT to the direction YOU WANT YOUR LIFE AND CAREER TO TAKE. You simply cannot allow yourself to get distracted by the unimportant. You must engage your Higher Level Thinking and narrow down your focus. If you don’t you will waste your time and mental energy on the unimportant. As Bruce Lee once said - “The SUCCESSFUL WARRIOR is the AVERAGE MAN, with LASER-LIKE FOCUS.” Finally your goals must be TIME ORIENTED. So set a deadline for the specific goal: for next week, in three months, or six months. Setting an end point for the goal gives you a clear target to achieve. Remember Parkinson’s Law though - "work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". – Make your time frames realistic but don’t let them be too flabby. Push yourself a little. When you are working on a deadline, your sense of urgency increases and that gives you drive. Put it in WRITING I’ll follow up the SMART system by urging you to write your goals down. MINDTOOLS.com makes this point a follows. “The physical act of writing down a goal makes it real and tangible. You have no excuse for forgetting about it.” As you write, Mindtools tells you to use the word "will" instead of "would like to" or "might." For example, "I will produce the pilot episode of my next series by the 1st of February next year” not "I would like to produce the pilot episode of my next series by the 1st of February next year " The first goal statement has power and you can "see" yourself shooting that episode, the second lacks passion and gives you an excuse if you get sidetracked.” They also suggest that you write yourself a TO-DO LIST that has your goals written at the top of it. You can do that in the TO-DOIST app I mentioned last week btw. You can create titles for each list, and they can be your goals. I’d add to this that when you set goals for yourself, it is important that they motivate you, that they are important to you, and that there is some value to you in achieving them. If you have no interest in the outcome then the chances of you putting in the work to achieve these goals are very low. As Elon Musk said though, “If something is important enough, even if the odds are against you, you should still do it.” Can I suggest too that you build in reminders to keep yourself on track, and make regular check-ins to review your goals – put them in your diary – I have them in my Google calendar app and they pop up every 6 months. Sometimes perhaps through changes in circumstance you may even alter your long term goals along the way – that’s perfectly fine – just be sure to re-define the new goals and keep on moving. Your GREATER GOAL may remain similar over the long term, but your strategic action plan to achieve it might change significantly. That’s just life. It’s OK. SUMMING UP I hope that this episode has been helpful because without goals you will undoubtedly lack focus and direction. I’d now like you to consider your GREATER LIFE GOALS. These are the larger outcomes you will achieve when you dedicate YOUR TIME and YOUR THOUGHTS and YOUR PASSION to reach them. Tony Robbins sets out three steps to setting these larger goals. You may want to re-listen to this section when you aren’t busy, and have a pen in hand. · In Step 1 he says: Take 6 minutes and brainstorm a list of anything you’d like to achieve, create, do, have, give and/or experience in the next 20 years. Write as many things down as fast as you can in this time. · In Step 2 he asks you to go back through your list and write 1, 3, 5, 10 or 20 years next to each goal to indicate how long it will take to achieve them. You have a minute and a half to get this done, so be quick and go with your gut. · In Step 3 he asks you to then review your list. Choose your top four 1-year goals. These are goals that make you really excited. Write a paragraph for each goal explaining why you will absolutely achieve this goal within the next 12 months. This should take you about 15-20 minutes total. Now, if you have the chance to share what you’ve written down with a friend, family member or other person you trust, do so. If not, just say them out loud to yourself. Tony Robbins is at the top of his game in this field and it’s for good reason - I’ll put some links to him in the show notes. Now achieving these goals won’t always be easy - Booker T. Washington said that “You measure the size of the accomplishment by the obstacles you have to overcome to reach your goals.” So things will get tough - but goal setting will allow you to navigate the correct path and provide you with a benchmark for determining whether you are actually getting there. I’ll finish up now with the words of CS LEWIS “You are never too old to set a new goal or to dream a new dream.” Having goals is for everyone, it’s not just a game for the young. In whatever path you take and whatever goal you set out to conquer I wish you well. CALL TO ACTION So that is now the end of series 1. I encourage you to look back over the previous episodes and see if there’s anything that you missed. This season has been kinda structured to help those that are feeling overwhelmed in their life and work, and much of it has been aimed at stemming the flow of lost time and energy. In episode 1, I introduced the concept of HIGH LEVEL THINKING, and the principle of working ON your life and career at the same time that you find yourself living and working IN it. By now, I hope that this concept has had a bit of an impact on you and that you have been able to, at least in part, take back control of your life. In season 2, I’ll continue to introduce even more productivity topics. I’ve got a good idea of where I’m heading with it, but I’d love to include YOUR thoughts and comments within it. If you want to help, please let me know what you are struggling with by leaving short voicemail message on the speakpipe recorder on the filmproproductivity.com contact page. You can always send a written message but if you leave a voicemail I may include it in future episodes. ENDING I feel that before I go I should explain perhaps why I’ve chosen the seasonal format. That fact is that in order for me to avoid my own OVERWHELM, and to allow me to go and SHOOT my OWN new CREATIVE PROJECTS, I just can’t commit to delivering an episode of this show every week of the year. And it’s a choice I made before I started. My SPARE time, my days off between paid fight contracts or the stolen hours on shoot days when I find myself hanging about waiting to be called to set, when I’ not writing risk assessments, is currently dedicated to researching and writing these episodes. I now HAVE to commit these lumps of spare time to a DIFFERENT creative project. As if I did say yes to releasing a new episode EVERY week, I’d be saying NO many other opportunities. But don’t worry – I will be back. I will return in just a few months with a new 12 episode season. If YOU would like to SUPPORT this podcast, then please buy from one of my AMAZON AFFILIATE LINKS listed in the film pro productivity.com show notes. The Big Idea: No one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws them.John 6:41-59 43-44, “Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus answered, “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.”There Are Two Ways People Don't Get It: 1. I don't get it, but I WANT TO 2. I don't get it and I don't LIKE IT!What Does Jesus Mean?We would never seek for or CHOOSE God unless God first sought after and CHOSE us. John 15:16 Couple of Perplexing Issues:1. Does this mean we don't have any FREE WILL?• You will never have the desire to lose everything so you can gain Christ unless GOD DRAWS YOU.2. Does this mean God is not choosing EVERYONE? John 3:16-17 Matthew 18:12-14 Romans 8:29 Here is the Huge Key: You are DRAWN, not DRIVEN. Deuteronomy 7:6What Difference Does This Make? The Sovereign Rulership of God challenges our PRIDE and sense of SELF and comforts our FEARS and INSECURITIES.

Career Blog Series - It's Not "I Want To", It's "I Will Do " - Eagle Realty What You Want To Do, Or What You Will Do? I watched the Winter X-Games on ESPN this past weekend (like every winter) and picked up on an athlete telling his story about his road to becoming a professional snowboarder. The main theme of his story was that he told himself and others, “I will be a pro snowboarder” in contrast to “I want to be a snowboarder”. There is a big difference. Our career choices and direction, including our Real Estate career and the success we will have building our business, needs to be predicated on a psychological foundation of “I Will” not just “I Want”. Mindset is very important in everything we do. Phrasing of the words we tell ourselves, and others, is just as important. To achieve we must firmly believe in what we are trying to accomplish. I don’t mean for that to be corny or sound like motivational mumbo-jumbo, but rather it is more in line with common sense that we know, we just don’t practice enough. Just like scripts work in real estate sales, but they need to become natural sounding to be optimally effective. The only way that happens is extensive practice and repetitiveness. Making our “I Will” mindset and natural as part of our language in our goals, strategy, direction, and purpose will only make us more prone to achievement. I “want” is a wish. I “will” defines your purpose. www.DiscoverEagleRealty.info – Careers

NYMR Episode 140 How to write your own training program. Today we have on the best in the business Mike Zourdos to help us figure out this whole training programming thing. Mike has in PHD in Exercise Physiology and is the assistant professor at Florida atlanti university. Mike is on the forfront of training optimal and I am super excited to have him on! Mike welcome to the podcast! So finally I will get the answer….what is the DUP? Mike tell our listener alittle more about yourself and how you got into powerlifting and into the art of programming? -There are many common forms of periodzation, such as linear, non liner block periodization and your specialty Daily undulating periodization? Can you give us a basic definition of each, how they can be useful for programming and why is it necessary? Frequency of lifts Wht about if there isno competition for regular people -What is the average length of a training block oK Mike I think the best way to explain DUP and teach people how to use it is to give someone an example. If you don’t mind can we quickly and rough draftly create a one 4 week block of DUP program using myself. I want you to ask me all the questions you would need to create a program. My rationale for this is that our listeners can understand a coaches perspective on how to create a program and what goes into design of one. So lets use me as an example again… I WANT TO improve my deadlift and brng my 1 rep max up. What has to go into my training program in order to do that? Lets say for my next meet which is 12 weeks away I want to add as much as I can to my deadlift total
