Where Hope Meets You Series: The Story Continues with Kristy Bridgers :: [Episode 381]     Today, we are in week two of our special podcast series featuring Storytellers from our new devotional, Where Hope Meets You. In this episode, podcast host Katie Dunn reconnects with Kristy Bridgers, who first shared her powerful journey to sobriety with our Oxford community. You can listen to her story HERE.   Just as she originally shared her story, Kristy is refreshingly honest, vulnerable, and authentic as she reflects on all the Lord has taught her over the years. From laying down the masks she once wore, to letting go of striving and performance, to discovering the beauty of slowing down and becoming self-aware, Kristy offers a beautiful picture of the freedom found in Jesus Christ. Her story is a reminder that true healing begins when we allow God to meet us exactly where we are. _________________________________________________________   Give to StoryTellers Live in honor of Kristy and all of our season 9 storytellers!   Preorder our new devotional "Where Hope Meets You: A Daily Reminder of the Comfort and Confidence in God's Promises" by Katie Dunn!    YES, you can continue to hear NEW stories over the summer!  Join us "In the Room" on Patreon to access stories straight from our live gatherings around the country!     Purchase or listen to one of our When God Shows Up Bible studies~ Stories of Hope, Stories of Freedom, Stories of Faith   Want to see our upcoming events?  Click HERE!   Check out all of our live speaking engagement opportunities on our website.   Sign up to receive StoryTellers Live's weekly newsletter for upcoming events, new podcast episodes, details on our live gatherings taking place across the country, and much more!! #724: Linda Hill, a Harvard Business School professor, and Jason Wild, an innovation consultant who has led projects in 40 countries, join us to break down how organizations innovate. Linda and Jason have spent decades studying companies that consistently produce breakthroughs - from Pixar to Delta Airlines to Cleveland Clinic - and they've identified three leadership roles that matter most: the Architect, the Bridger, and the Catalyst. The Architect builds a culture where people feel safe enough to take risks. The Bridger - which Linda calls the "revenge of middle management" - spans the gaps between departments, partners, and outside organizations where innovation often stalls and dies. The Catalyst builds coalitions across broader ecosystems to get things done. We get into what separates co-creation from consensus - and why consensus almost never produces anything great. Linda explains what she calls "creative abrasion": the practice of rubbing ideas against each other through debate and discourse, rather than smoothing over disagreements to keep the peace. We also talk about what individual employees can do when they work inside slow, tradition-bound organizations. The short answer: find the people who share your interests, build a coalition, and work your way up - not by chasing the most powerful person in the room, but by starting with whoever cares about the same problem you do. The conversation touches on AI and what it actually takes to stay relevant as a knowledge worker. Linda and Jason both land on the same answer - the ability to build trust and relationships in low-trust environments is one of the hardest things for AI to replicate. Most people don't skip estate planning because they don't care. They skip it because they're terrified. Terrified of facing their own mortality. Terrified of making the wrong call. Terrified of how much it might cost. And in 2026, with chaos happening at every level, that avoidance has never been more expensive. Estate attorney Griffin Bridgers is back, and this time we're cutting through every excuse, every myth, and every fear-based sales tactic the industry uses to push you into doing nothing.Griffin breaks down the three real barriers that keep people stuck: the paralysis of making decisions, the fear of getting it wrong, and the cost concern that has the tech world rushing in with half-baked solutions. LegalZoom has been around for 25 years and still doesn't push wills front and center. Why? Because you can't build an app that fights human nature. Estate planning isn't a tech problem. It's a human one. What happens to your family when you leave a mess? It's not just about the money. It's about grief. When you die without a plan, you are literally robbing the people you love of the chance to properly mourn you. Instead of sitting with their loss, they're tracking down bank accounts, fielding calls, managing property, and fighting through legal processes. The list goes from one page to a hundred pages fast. Griffin and Stoy both get personal on this one.We also go deep into the Noise vs. Truth section, taking on two of the biggest myths circulating right now: that everyone needs a trust, and that avoiding probate is always the right move. Spoiler: a TikTok video does not qualify anyone to advise you on irrevocable trusts. One wrong word and you can actually lose the tax benefit you thought you were protecting. This conversation cuts through that noise fast. The closer is the one that sticks. Griffin lays out what he calls the Death Manual, getting your real wealth (the data, the passwords, the wishes, the stories between your ears) out of your head and onto paper. Not all at once. One bite at a time. Because 10 minutes today might save the people you love 10 months of chaos tomorrow.https://youtu.be/a8_9mDS0RZ8If this hit home, drop a comment. The ability of an organization to innovate over and over again, for the long term, depends on leadership structure, culture, and systems. That's according to Harvard Business School professor Linda Hill, who has spent years researching the true drivers of innovation, taking lessons from the world's most successful companies. She explains why today's leaders need to shift from the focus on decision-making and producing to creating the conditions for collaboration, experimentation, and smart decision-making across teams, silos, and wider ecosystems. She shares examples from Mastercard, Pixar, and more and outlines some newly defined ways of looking at leadership roles: as Architects, Bridgers, and Catalysts. Hill's new book is Genius at Scale: How Great Leaders Drive Innovation.

If you've been punting your estate planning all year, this is your wake-up call. In this episode, I bring in Griffin Bridgers—a recovering attorney who lives in this space—to tear down the myths and get you moving before the holidays eat your calendar. We get real about why estate planning slips to the bottom of the list: nobody wants to think about death, and everybody swears they'll “get to it later.” Later rarely comes. We start with basics that most people still miss: your will's validity, witness requirements, and why “perfect is the enemy of good.” Get the core documents done, then build the habit of revisiting them as your life changes—because it will. Your family changes. Your relationships change. Your appointees change. Set-and-forget is a fantasy. Review is the job. Then we crack open the myths: “The bank has my beneficiary, so I'm covered” (no, that's not a plan), and “my attorney has the originals, so I don't need to track anything” (do your people even know how to reach that attorney—or if they're still practicing?). This is where good intentions die and heirs get stuck. Business owners—this one's for you. Your buy-sell is not a checkbox. It's a minefield of human behavior, valuation drift, liquidity shortfalls, “I'm done working but still own 50%” scenarios, and spouses who don't agree with your sweetheart deal. If you don't define the rules, a judge will. Griffin's core punchline is simple: death is never easy, but you can make it easier. Start with the “who” and the “how.” Review your will, trusts, POAs, and—crucially—the people you've named. Educate them on their roles. Create an instruction manual so someone can actually run the playbook when you're gone. Then get your corporate docs in one place, with minutes and filings current. Organize first. Then review. Then fix. Watch the full episode here: https://youtu.be/7ZRs0r_XCVsAs always we ask you to comment, DM, whatever it takes to have a conversation to help you take the next step in your journey, reach out on any platform!Twitter, FaceBook, Instagram, Tiktok, LinkedinDISCLOSURE: Awards and rankings by third parties are not indicative of future performance or client investment success. What truly transformed her approach was discovering Phoebe Bridgers' "Stranger in the Alps" – an album that showed her a new path forward. "I hadn't heard anything like that until then," Alix reveals, explaining how Bridgers' stripped-back authenticity gave her permission to simply show up and be herself. The conversation weaves through unexpected connections – like collaborating with Mark McKenna from "Sing Street" after years of using John Carney's film as pre-tour inspiration, or bumping into Bill Nighy the day after watching him in "Emma." These serendipitous moments mirror Alix's songwriting approach: finding beauty in life's small, meaningful intersections. What emerges is a portrait of an artist whose work blends the melancholic storytelling of Bridgers, the character depth of Jane Austen adaptations, and the emotional honesty of "500 Days of Summer." Get ready for some real talk. This raw account of addiction and recovery is also packed with self-reflection and Scripture throughout. Join Kristy Bridgers of our Oxford community as she drills down to the truth in more ways than one.   Growing up with an alcoholic father and in a performance-based family culture, Kristy learned to function among secrets and to never ask for help. Into adulthood, with an unexpected pregnancy and stressful newlywed season, Kristy played the part, first putting out the “fires” in her life with caretaking and busy-ness—and eventually by numbing out with alcohol.    But when she got sober, Kristy gained a sober view of herself—and the unearned love of the Lord.    In this episode, you will learn:   –When all other measures of comfort fail (and they will), the Lord stands ready to comfort you.   –We are all recovering from something. Getting real with God and getting real with yourself leads to healing.    –You do not have to earn the Father's favor; you are worthy of His love.   Links:   Listen to a similar story: Suzanne Jones- Ep. 69: "Overcoming Addiction"   Give to StoryTellers Live in honor of Kristy.   Become a Patreon Insider to access bonus content ~ including an interview with social worker and clinician Tammy Bond from Wellspring Christian Clinic. Were hunter gatherers patriarchal or matriarchal? Neither.I had the privilege of hosting Elena Bridgers on the show to have a conversation about understanding our evolutionary past as hunter gatherers. Elena is a science writer, content creator and mom of two with a special fascination in hunter-gatherer societies and human evolution, specifically as it relates to motherhood. Elena has published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and major media outlets on these topics, grown an Instagram following from 0 to over 50,000 in just a few months, and is working on a book. We dove into how motherhood has always been at the heart of societal structures until very recently. What was motherhood like in our evolutionary past? Why does motherhood feel so hard for many women in the modern context? Exploring immediate return tribes versus those who stockpile resources. How much leisure time did our ancestors have? Understanding the beginnings of the warrior class and why were immediate return hunter gatherers serial monogamists? How we're suffering in the modern world due to lack of communal support and more.Connect with Elena on instagram here or her substack hereTimestamps:Intro 00:00 - 06:07 Our Evolutionary Past 06:07 - 11:17Hunter vs Gatherer 11:17 - 15:46Modern Society 15:46 21:20 Patriarchal Society 21:20 25:42Male and Female Roles 25:42 32:09Women and Caretaking 32:09 -37:15Highlighting Boys and Men 37:16 - 42:11Outro 42:11 - 43:47 ____________________________________________If you found some value today then help me spread the word! I'm having a bit of deja vu, it seems. Around this time last year, I was woefully sad about a boy; and here I am, crying over a man yet again. I'll tell you what- dealing with heartache, breakups, timing not timing for you perfectly, fights, rejection, loneliness, and relationship hardships are awful. I've experienced all of these things from multiple angles.  I've learned a lot, and now have a lot of tools in my toolbox to cope in a healthy(ish) way. Alli Bridgers, a new friend of mine, is going through her own break up & heartache, so we decided to move through it together and talk about it on the podcast. On today's episode of Raw Intentions, we dive into all things heartbreak, finding happiness in new singleness, knowing when to pull the plug on a relationship, dating, sadness, loneliness, the comparison game, and how to find that love and happiness again within yourself. To feel ALL the things, lean on friends when you need to, and be patient with yourself. Alli is a bit farther along in the grieving process than I am, so it was so nice hearing her perspective; I got some really fabulous advice myself from her wise words. At the time we recorded this, I could feel my own relationship crumbling as it happened, and knew something awful was around the corner. My gut always speaks to me loudly, and we discuss the importance of listening to your gut, always. If you're going through this yourself, I am SO sorry. I recorded another episode last year when I dealt with rejection and loneliness for the first time, Boys Lie & Hot Girls Cry. It's now one of our most listened to episodes, and I hope this one & that one can assist you in your pain, and make you feel less alone. On this week's episode of Raw Intentions, I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with sisters Alli & Sara Caroline “Bird” Bridgers. An hour wasn't long enough; I truly could have talked with these girls for forever. I love their dynamic and their bond as sisters & friends. They pose such a unique outlook on the world and life as we live it- with each perspective from a totally different age group and different walks of life. This week, we cover a whole lot. Pivoting in life, and knowing when the right time to make a change is, staying present and paying attention to what is and isn't serving you, how to avoid dissociation and burnout, health and wellness and what that means to us, sobriety, balancing a job on social media without constantly being on your phone, navigating your 20's, starting businesses and our why's, and so much more. We did a podcast swap, so go check out their podcast “Go Call Your Sister,” and enjoy these conversations! xoShop Raw & Rebellious: https://www.rawrebellious.com/Raw & Rebellious Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raw_rebellious/Raw & Rebellious TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@raw_rebellious?lang=enRaw Intentions Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rawintentionspodcast/

Singer Phoebe Bridgers had a huge year in 2020. She was nominated for four Grammys for her work on her album Punisher. The album was released to wide critical acclaim. But like the rest of us, Bridgers was stuck at home. So what's that really like for a musician? In the latest episode of our summer music series, we revisit Sam Sanders' conversation with Phoebe from 2020. They talk about her love/hate relationship with touring, how she aims for the universal in the specificity of her lyrics, and her hopes for the future of music.Watch the extended video version of this interview: https://youtu.be/nTmW6jr_hd0 You can follow us on Twitter @NPRItsBeenAMin and email us at ibam@npr.org.
