Today dark skies are dwindling world-wide thanks to a dramatic increase in light pollution effects. Much like wildlife that once roamed this country extensively but were later pushed to protected areas like national parks for survival, our darkest skies now mostly remain above public lands.
Just keep on keeping on, like Dr. Terry.
Another wee episode where Dr Sir Paul Mitchener and I examine the Panel's conclusions from our Newcastle episode where Tasha and I tied for the outright scenario but Jim managed to get his "Big Wow" moment in. We're a little interrupted in this one but hope it's not too disjointed! Thanks again for sticking with us! It's going to be fun! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/frankensteinrpg/message
So I am again joined by the Brilliant creator of Liminal Dr Paul Mitchener to discuss the latest way in which our contributors have mangled his wonderful game! We review the choices put in front of us by Tamsyn, Matthew, Ed and Peter and then I inevitably get Dr Mitch to vote on either the winner of the scenario idea or the Big Wow moment! This episode again doesn't disappoint as we lurch from South Mimms to St Neotts via Knebbe Wurde (say it out loud!) and delve into the horrific stories behind nursery rhymes! Eek! Sound track comes this time from the wonderful Freak Fandango Orchestra - you MUST check them out here: https://freakfandango.bandcamp.com/ and is used by agreement and open license. AND ALSO Ed - with his unbelievably good solo and musings on the titular character! Brilliant. In this week's episode, we're talking about the 1991 classic The Rocketeer, a boy's own adventure romp that made nowt more than a whimper at the box office, which is a shame because it really is a fun flick. Along the way we discuss celebrity crushes and after our respective cold showers, we talk about big gophers, Dan Stevens, the Big Wow, tiny little 30's moustaches and Jonny's time as an Anatevkan milkman in the late 19th century. As always, we pay our respects to our numerous sponsors, we play The Tagline Game and Krazee Kasting (with K's), learn fascinating facts in Trivia Corner and take trips up the rickety staircase to VFX Attic (try the foot biscuits, they're to die for). So come on down to 1635 Palm Terrace (we've done our research from hell to breakfast) and join us as we bask in the awesomeness that is...The Rocketeer. Whiteout with Eric Lindsay in conversation with David Eastaugh Whiteout were a British rock group from Scotland, who were most famous for their hit "Jackie's Racing". Although they had existed in a different incarnation since the very early 1990s, the band's classic line-up consisted of Andrew Caldwell (vocals), Paul Carroll (bass), Eric Lindsay (guitar) and Stuart Smith (drums). The name came from a slang term for the disorientating effects of alcohol. They were the first guitar band to sign to the Silvertone label after their enormous success with the Stone Roses. Whiteout's principal recordings were the albums Bite It (1995) and Big Wow (1998). Their music was influenced by the country rock and glam rock of the early 1970s, as well as the aforementioned Stone Roses.

You know how when you wistfully watch people play World of Warcraft, and silently wish to yourself that you could just somehow find the nerve to join the worldwide phenomenon? Longingly watch from the sidelines no more, dear listeners! We, the expert marketers at Debate This! have partnered with Big WoW, Inc to organize the biggest collab in the game's 15+ year history. We are partnering with real-life, actual sports teams to turn their beloved mascots into mounts that players can ride and show off to their friends. We have a bipedal ant dripping with machismo, a Midwestern kangaroo with very white Asics tennies, and a divorcee living out their flirty 50s. Wow, we've been in a whirlwind of celebrations for this entire month! We've had 3 college graduations last weekend, a high school graduation party this weekend, an engagement announcement and our great grand baby's first birthday party!!!! YES, BIG WOW!!! I didn't immediately come up with this particular topic, but when you listen in you'll appreciate the importance of this quote: "You are a good and faithful servant! You've been faithful over a little. I'll put you in charge of much. Come, celebrate with me."-- Matthew 25:21 But in my perspective of what this quote is referring to, I find so many little 'wins' leading to the big events. Yet, many of us put blinders on and so super focus on the big goal that we forget to celebrate all the special moments leading to the BIG celebration. Many steps along the way make the arrival so sweet, and if you cherish those along the way, the success is so much more. I really believe that setting aside the main thing for a while and just doing something each day that means something to someone else enriches your day. Something as simple as sending an unexpected greeting card, writing a supportive email, responding to a friend request, smiling at a stranger. My friend, Cynthia Bazin, laser-focused mentor extraordinaire asks her Inner Circle members to share their wins EVERY day because she knows the value of those little moments. If you've not embraced the idea of celebrating your little wins, give it a try and see how joyful this approach can be. I learned this years ago and I know it makes a huge difference in my life, every day! And please remember that Wednesday, Cynthia and I will be sharing tips and strategies with you and on Thursday resuming our BeLive discussion on organizing! 9 AM PST 11 AM CST and NOON EST Enjoy an awesome day and thank you for listening, commenting and sharing! I sooooo appreciate it! Passing On A Smile, Gail

It's summertime. And for most of the world, that means fun in the sun, but for us here at the Drunken Dork Podcast it means another season of comic book conventions. Jake, Tom and special guest host Jon Stump talk about their recent experiences at C2E2 in Chicago, Big Wow in San Jose & the Motor City Comic Con in Novi, Michigan. Along the way, they discuss their latest near-death experience, comic book conspiracy theories, and a grave social concern that doesn't seem to be on anyone else's radar.

Film Rant Episode 16 - Everything Will Change Film Rant is back with a two-hour special to celebrate its new monthly format! In this episode you can expect: The Month In Film: Where I talk about some of the movies I've been watching over the course of March and discuss a few of the more interesting news stories that have broke. This includes my thoughts on Matthew Vaughn's ode to the comic book movie - Kick Ass. My Movie Shame: Looking at a film I am ashamed to admit I have never seen, in this episode I attempt to deconstruct George Miller's 1979 dystopian Aussie revenge flick Mad Max and try and decide if it is worthy of its status as a classic. Quid Shop Corner: Another brand new feature, here I plumb the depths of my local £1 store to discover a lost classic, buying two copies and offering you one for free in exchange for your thoughts! In this episode, the 2002 Stuart Gordon produced Death Bed. The Rant: Returning to the show is a section that has only ever appeared once before despite it being one of the reasons I set up the 'cast! Here I have a general grumble about something that has been bugging me over the month - this time I'll be tearing Kevin Smith a new one. Interview: As a special extra, I have included a review of a film from last year that is now available on DVD called The Hide as well as an interview with its director Marek Losey. All the music featured in the show comes from Cloud Sounds, a fantastic podcast which provides some of the most interesting new music around, check it out on iTunes and at www.cloudsounds.co.uk and follow Ted Harris at www.twitter.com/Cloud_Sounds Episode 16 tracklist / more information: What News From Cornwall - Super U from the album We Live In Bazhakstan on Sack the Juggler Records. http://www.myspace.com/superu Cheapskate - Science and Love from the album Un Film Imaginnaire (self released). http://www.myspace.com/jamandbungle The Loungs - Annie Hall from the album Big Wow on Fresh Hair Records. http://www.myspace.com/theloungs Mat Riviere - Evening Drive from the album Follow Your Heart on Brainlove Records. http://www.myspace.com/matriviere Follow me and bid for the Death Bed DVD via @filmrant, contact me for feedback on filmrant@hotmail.co.uk and fan the Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Film-Rant-Podcast/144172668917?ref=nf Hope you enjoy the show!
