On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren (SB Nation) to discuss the Buffalo Bills and more specifically, dissect some of the worst decisions of Brandon Beane through his tenure so far as Bills general manager. So it's clear in the show notes just as it was said repeatedly on the podcast---this is not meant to be an indictment of Beane. The guys both think by and large Beane has done a fantastic job not just building the Bills roster but keeping them in a position to consistently challenge for a championship every season. He's made a lot more good decisions than bad ones. That said, the guys are diggig into and discussing the latter. From three early round draft picks who flamed out quickly, to a handful of free agent signings that didn't turn out the way Beane hoped, a few regretful contract extensions and a pair of trades Beane probably wishes he had back, Beane's not above being criticized. They also discuss the offseasons of two AFC rivals, Baltimore and Cincinnati. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblingsfor your (really good) daily Bills content.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. It's another edition of The Podbag on today's Talking Buffalo and Patrick Moran is responding to a bunch of outstanding questions and comments from listeners, including elaborating on why Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane has done a much better job at drafting since 2018 than a lot of critics give credit for.As with any general manager in sports, it's low hanging fruit to point out every draft miss that GM has made. Beane's certainly had some noticeable misses in the early rounds, including Kaiir Elam, Boogie Basham and Cody Ford to name a few, not to mention some rookies from last year who appear to have a long way to go. That said Patrick not only goes over several of Beane's best hits but goes deeper, revealing who the next prospect picked by another team in the draft was at the same position. It's insane to think what kind of shape the Bills would be in if Beane took the same positional player after guys likes Terrel Bernard, Khalil Shakir, Christian Benford, Spencer Brown and others. Also, there's pertinent questions submitted regarding the importance of James Cook and also how critical is for Keon Coleman to take a huge step in year two—or is it actually?Plus, reaction to Stefon Diggs going to New England, a move Patrick would love to see the Bills make before Week one and the high profile Stevie Johnson vs Darrelle Revis Twitter feud brewing. That plus a few hockey topics, Patrick discusses his favorite new TV show and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Send us a textIn this episode of 2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates, Drew and Rob dive into the latest headlines surrounding the Giants, including coaching hires, potential draft strategies, and offseason roster moves. The Giants have officially hired Marquand Manuel as their new defensive backs coach, adding a wealth of experience to their coaching staff. Manuel, who played defensive back in the NFL from 2002 to 2009, brings a diverse coaching resume that includes stints with the Seahawks, Falcons, Eagles, and Jets. The hosts also analyze the Tennessee Titans' plans with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft. Titans President Chad Brinker and new GM Mike Borgonzi have stated they won't pass on a generational talent, leading to speculation about whether they will select a quarterback or consider trading down. If Tennessee passes on a QB, it could open the door for the Giants to land one of the top prospects, such as Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward. Drew and Rob discuss the potential for the Giants to trade up and what it could mean for the franchise moving forward.Another hot topic in the episode is Jermaine Eluemunor's social media recruitment of Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey. Following Baltimore's playoff loss, Humphrey hinted at potential changes to the Ravens' roster. Eluemunor responded on social media by suggesting Humphrey consider joining the Giants, sparking speculation among fans. Cowboys star Micah Parsons chimed in, questioning why Humphrey would leave Lamar Jackson for New York, but Eluemunor remained steadfast in his recruitment efforts. The hosts break down Humphrey's impressive resume, which includes four Pro Bowl selections and a standout performance last season, and debate whether a move to the Giants is realistic. The Giants' rookies continue to make waves as Malik Nabers and Tyrone Tracy Jr. were named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. Nabers was the top wide receiver selected, while Tracy Jr. earned recognition as the second-best rookie running back behind the Buccaneers' Bucky Irving. However, Tyler Nubin and Dru Phillips were notably absent from the list, which Drew and Rob argue is a snub considering their strong rookie campaigns.Brian Burns has been recognized as the most improved Giant by Pro Football Focus, with significant improvements in both pass-rushing and run defense. Burns recorded 61 pressures and 42 defensive stops, showcasing his growth and potential to become a dominant force for the Giants. The hosts discuss how his development could shape the defense next season. As the draft approaches, Mel Kiper has projected Shedeur Sanders to the Giants in his latest mock draft. Kiper believes this scenario would be ideal for the Giants, who are in desperate need of a franchise quarterback after moving on from Daniel Jones and with Drew Lock entering free agency. Sanders' impressive accuracy and leadership could provide a much-needed boost to the Giants' struggling offense. Finally, the episode covers the departure of defensive lineman Boogie Basham, who has signed a reserve/futures deal with the Carolina Panthers. Drew and Rob discuss what this means for the Giants' defensive depth and how they mightSupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Send us a textDrew and Rob are back with another packed episode of "2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates," covering all the latest developments surrounding the New York Giants. One of the top headlines is that Giants assistant general manager Brandon Brown has received a second interview with the Las Vegas Raiders for their GM position, while offensive coordinator Mike Kafka has secured a second interview with the New Orleans Saints for their head coaching vacancy. These interviews highlight the growing demand for Giants personnel in leadership roles around the league. In other news, former Giants linebacker Tae Crowder, originally dubbed "Mr. Irrelevant" in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Georgia, has found a new home. After spending three seasons with the Giants and accumulating 232 tackles, Crowder had brief stints with the Steelers, Chargers, and Titans. He sat out the entire 2024 season but has now signed with the UFL's Birmingham Stallions, looking to rejuvenate his football career. The NFL's "Hard Knocks" series might not be returning for the offseason, with teams reportedly hesitant after the Giants' challenging experience on the show. NFL Films VP Keith Cossrow recently addressed the situation, indicating that they are still in talks with teams but need a willing participant to move forward. With the Giants' struggles documented last season, it remains uncertain if any team will step up.Rookie tight end Theo Johnson opened up about his first year in the NFL, describing it as a whirlwind experience filled with valuable lessons. Despite suffering a season-ending injury—a broken fifth metatarsal in the Thanksgiving game against the Cowboys—Johnson is nearing full recovery and is eager to make an impact in the 2025 season. He remains optimistic about his role in helping turn the Giants' offense around.Giants legend Michael Strahan is set to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Strahan's dominance at Texas Southern, where he set records for single-season and career sacks, paved the way for an illustrious NFL career with the Giants. He finished just shy of Lawrence Taylor's franchise sack record and ranks among the league's all-time leaders in sacks. Strahan will be honored alongside football greats such as Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, and Michael Vick. The episode also features an in-depth analysis of the Giants' edge rushers. Brian Burns had a standout season with 8.5 sacks and 71 tackles, earning an impressive PFF grade of 79.2. Kayvon Thibodeaux followed with 5.5 sacks, while Azeez Ojulari contributed 6 sacks despite limited starts. The depth chart also includes Tomon Fox, Boogie Basham, and Patrick Johnson, with varying contributions throughout the season.Stay tuned to "2 Giants Goofballs" for the latest Giants news, rumors, and updates as the offseason unfolds. Send us a textIn this live episode of "2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates," Drew and Rob cover the latest news, rumors, and updates surrounding the Giants as they gear up for a challenging matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. With major roster news, including a potential addition to the offensive line and a key defensive release, there's a lot for Giants fans to keep up with today.DJ Humphries VisitVeteran offensive lineman DJ Humphries, a former first-round pick and Pro Bowler in 2021, visited the Giants as they look to bolster their struggling offensive line. Humphries, who has started all 98 games he's played for the Cardinals, could be a major upgrade over the current left tackle options like Joshua Ezeudu and Evan Neal. Though not as dominant as Andrew Thomas, if healthy, Humphries could help protect Daniel Jones against the Steelers' formidable pass rush.Boogie Basham Released**The Giants made room on the roster by releasing defensive end Boogie Basham, who had been inactive for most of the season. He may return to the practice squad, but the move clears space for defensive tackle Armon Watts to join the active roster.Giants vs. Steelers: Offensive PreviewThe Giants face one of the NFL's top defenses, as the Steelers are allowing just 14.4 points per game. Their run defense is particularly stout, ranking second in both yards per carry and rushing yards per game. The Giants will need to keep the threat of the run alive to give their offensive line a chance to protect Jones, who could find favorable matchups against a Steelers secondary missing key players. Wide receivers Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Wan'Dale Robinson need to exploit Pittsburgh's vulnerable corners, but the Giants' offensive line must hold up for these opportunities to develop.Giants vs. Steelers: Defensive PreviewThe Steelers' offense, led by Russell Wilson, will focus heavily on the run, with Najee Harris posing a consistent threat. While Harris isn't a big-play runner, the Giants have struggled to stop the run, which could be a major issue. The key in the passing game will be limiting WR George Pickens, who accounts for over a third of the Steelers' passing yards. With the Giants leading the league in sacks, they have a chance to disrupt Pittsburgh's shaky offensive line and force Wilson into mistakes.Final ThoughtsAs the Giants prepare for their Week 9 clash with the Steelers, the offense faces a tough task against one of the league's best defenses. On defense, New York must contain the Steelers' running game and pressure Russell Wilson to keep the game competitive. It was the exact opposite of what Giants fans wanted to see. Daniel Jones looked rusty, locked on to reads and. throwing ugly interventions in his return to action against Houston. While it may mean little in the short-term season outlook, it was a. troubling performance for a six-year pro who only found his rhythm once the Texans pulled their starters.Elsewhere the Giants had many positives - the Offensive Line. played solid once again, with Greg Van Roten and Jermaine Eluemunor standing out. Trade acquisition Brian Burns looked every bit the part, as Dexter Lawrence and Kayvon Thibodeux got in solid reps as well. The depth on defense however, remains on shaky ground. Poor play from Tre Hawkins III, Darian Beavers and Boogie Basham reminded fans that even with studs starting, depth reps remain a question mark for Big Blue.Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfqIOTuEqp5mEpIW7lnkGAA/join

The show paints him as a blue-collar guy who doesn't listen to outside noise and isn't familiar with sports radio channels. The show refers to Daniel Jones as a "$40M question mark" and discusses his injury issues. Schoen emphasizes the need for a contingency plan while showing a montage of Jones working out to recover from his ACL injury. Despite the challenges, Schoen expresses his commitment to Jones, albeit with plenty of colorful language. The episode delves into the Giants' defensive legacy, highlighting legendary DCs Tom Landry and Bill Belichick. OTA 9 RecapThe offense looked very crisp during OTA 9. Starting with 7-on-7 drills, Daniel Jones went 5 of 6 with four touchdowns. The first TD was to Jalin Hyatt, followed by Malik Nabers, another to Hyatt, and the fourth to Wan'Dale Robinson. During the team portion, Drew Lock impressed by going 9 for 10 with two touchdowns to Malik Nabers and another to Isaiah Hodgins during red zone drills. Tommy DeVito connected with Allen Robinson for a TD, while Lawrence Cager and John Jiles caught touchdowns from Nathan Rourke. On defense, Dane Belton, Jason Pinnock, and Jalen Mills all batted down passes, with Jordon Riley deflecting one at the line. Boogie Basham could have had two sacks, once sharing with DJ Davidson. Azeez Ojulari forced a quick throw by getting into the backfield, and Kayvon Thibodeaux disrupted the QB's timing multiple times.Art Stapleton praised Malik Nabers, saying, “I have not seen a receiver have a practice like he did today since Odell. Wish I could give you more than words and the video is the team opts to put out. Jumped off the page, so to speak. If this were training camp, my word.” Stapleton is a respected columnist and podcaster who has covered the Giants for many years. There has been a lot of hype surrounding Nabers, but should we believe the OTA hype? After all, Darren Waller was called a unicorn and Tre Hawkins was deemed the steal of the draft last year, and we know how their seasons turned out.Sterling Shepard signed a 1-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reuniting with his college QB from Oklahoma, Baker Mayfield. The Bucs have star WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, along with young talents like second-year receiver Trey Palmer and rookie Jalen McMillan. It will be tough for Shepard to make the team, but fans still root for him. If he makes the squad, the Giants play the Bucs at MetLife in Week 11 on November 24th.Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni stirred controversy by telling Giants fans, “You know, we got your best player,” referring to Saquon Barkley. The Eagles signed Barkley on the first day of free agency tampering to a 3-year, $37.75M contract with $26M guaranteed. The Eagles are currently under investigation for improper contact during the tampering period. The Giants didn't even make an offer to Barkley, whose departure leaves Dexter Lawrence and Andrew Thomas as arguably the Giants' best players. Some argue that Xavier McKinney, who is younger and played every down last season, was a more significant loss than Barkley. Barkley ended his Giants tenure 4th in rushing yards and 7th in total yards, playing in 74 games while the team went 34-64-1 since he was drafted second overall in 2018.Giants to Wear New 100th Season Century Red Uniforms Week 1 Against the Minnesota VikingsJalin Hyatt expressed confidence in the Giants making the playoffs, saying, "Just looking at our team, looking at what we got -- for goals, I just want a team goal. We have a playoff team. That's what we want to do. That's our focus and we're gonna get there." While there are low expectations around the league, it's good to see players aiming high. Although the Giants making the playoffs seems unlikely, stranger things have happened, as evidenced by their unexpected playoff appearance in 2022.#nygiants #giants #nfSupport the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. The 2024 NY Giants Edge Room features a compelling mix of talent and potential, headlined by Brian Burns. Burns, at 26 years old and standing 6'5” tall at 250 lbs, was the 16th overall pick in 2019 from Florida State. In 2023, he delivered solid stats with 50 tackles, 8 sacks, 16 tackles for loss, 18 QB hits, 2 pass deflections, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery, earning a 73.8 PFF grade. A two-time Pro Bowler, Burns was acquired in an offseason trade and is now facing questions about whether his $30M per year contract is justified. With his high ceiling and a change of scenery, Kayvon Thibodeaux, just 23 years old and measuring 6'5” and 258 lbs, was the 5th overall pick in 2022 from Oregon. His 2023 stats include 50 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, 16 QB hits, 4 pass deflections, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery. Despite a strong sack performance last season, many of his sacks came against weaker competition. The addition of Brian Burns could help Thibodeaux reach new heights by diverting more attention from offensive lines. Furthermore, the new defensive coordinator, Shane Bowen, may implement schemes that better suit Thibodeaux's skills compared to former DC Wink Martindale.Azeez Ojulari, turning 24 in June and standing 6'3” and 240 lbs, was a 2nd-round pick in 2021 from Georgia. His 2023 season included 11 games, 7 starts, 16 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, 7 QB hits, and 1 fumble recovery, earning a 51.8 PFF grade. Despite showing flashes of talent, Ojulari has been plagued by injuries, leading some fans to label him a bust. Given his draft day injury concerns, his current situation is not entirely surprising.Boogie Basham, 26 years old and 6'3” and 274 lbs, was a 2nd-round pick in 2021 from Wake Forest. His 2023 stats include 13 games and 11 tackles, with a 55 PFF grade. Tomon Fox, also 26 years old and 6'3” and 260 lbs, was undrafted in 2022 from North Carolina. His 2023 stats include 1 game and 1 tackle, with a 57.5 PFF grade. In 2022, he played 16 games, starting 1, and recorded 24 tackles, 1 sack, 3 tackles for loss, and 1 QB hit. Fox has shown potential but remains largely unproven.Benton Whitley, 25 years old and 6'3” and 260 lbs, was undrafted from Princeton in 2022. In 2023, he played with both NYG and MIN, appearing in 4 games with 1 pass deflection and 1 fumble recovery. Additionally, the Giants might consider picking up defensive lineman Bravvion Roy, recently released by the Ravens. At 26 years old and 6'1” and 330 lbs, Roy was a 6th-round pick in 2020 from Baylor. His career includes 45 games with 15 starts. In 2022, he played 13 games, starting 4, and recorded 17 tackles, 1 QB hit, 1 interception, and 3 pass deflections. Roy spent all of last season on the Ravens practice squad. In summary, the 2024 NY Giants Edge Room is a mix of proven talent and potential, with Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux leading the charge. Azeez Ojulari, Boogie Basham, Tomon Fox, and Benton Whitley provide valuable depth and competition.#giants #nygiants #nflSupport the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. The New York Giants cut down to the team's final 53 man roster and managed to pickup the majority of their cuts as practice squad additions. Oh and the Giants traded for linebacker Isaiah Simmons and pass rusher Boogie Basham in the last week too to solidify the team's defense going into the start of the season. Plus, Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb and the rest of the New York Jets might be bullies for taking a preseason game so seriously. Lastly, fantasy talk, because all everyone wants in late August is to hear other people talk about their fantasy football team.
Hour 1: Jerry and Joe B are here to wrap up August and Jerry believes the Pete Alonso rumors are just noise. It's just negotiation. Joe hopes Jerry is right but won't give the Mets the benefit of the doubt. Peter Schwartz is in for Jerry today. Wednesday night was a rare positive one for the local baseball teams. The Yankees and Mets both won and are calling up top prospects. MLB realignment is coming before we know it. Jihad Ward responded to Aaron Rodgers. Nebraska fans set a record last night at a women's volleyball match. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry wonders if the Mets have found something in DJ Stewart and the guys get ready to talk to Darryl Strawberry. Hour 2: Jerry and Joe give credit to Gerrit Cole, who doesn't seem to be appreciated enough because his teammates are having a down year. Can the Yankees bounce back next year? Jerry thinks the Yankees have to find a way to move Giancarlo Stanton. Peter returns for an update and begins with the Yankees finally winning their second series since the start of July. The kids are on their way for the Bronx Bombers. Ice cream is great at baseball games but can get messy. Boogie Basham revealed how he found out he was traded to the Giants. Jerry and Joe like Robert Saleh but agree he makes the occasional cringe comment. In the final segment of the hour, we play the audio of a Jets play from 1997 that still bothers Joe and then Joe and Peter face off in a Jets trivia competition. Hour 3: Jerry tells Joe about traveling to Milwaukee to see P!NK and opening act Pat Benatar. Joe is sick of Giants fans looking down on Jets fans. Peter is back with another update. Joe says the Jets should have been better last year by playing Mike White. They had to justify the Zach Wilson pick. Jerry shares a story of meeting former Mets manager Dallas Green with Joe at Shea Stadium. In the final segment of the hour, Joe says he doesn't like calling Aaron Rodgers “A-Rod” and Zoo debuts the Dippin' Dots rap Jerry asked for. Hour 4: Jerry has us listen to Buck Showalter talk glowingly about Pete Alonso to back up his claim that the Mets want to keep Alonso around long term. Peter returns for his final update. The Yankees won a series! In our Moment of The Day, Joe learns about Dippin' Dots. In the final segment of the day, Darryl Strawberry joins the show.
