Generally speaking, the longer the pastor stays, the more effective that pastor will be. You might just be in a church that could break the record of Rev. Benford.
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran dives into what the Buffalo Bills have done at cornerback so far this offseason and perhaps more importantly, what they will do at cornerback before the 2025 regular season begins.Brandon Beane has been busy adding to the defense so far during this free agency period, but those biggest additions have come on the defensive line where they've signed Joey Bosa, Michael Hoehct and Larry Ogunjobi. The safety position has also seen Damar Hamlin re-sign as well as the addition of Darrick Forrest. The cornerback position is starting to stick out as a need at this point, perhaps the team's biggest. The Bills did bring back Dane Jackson after letting him walk a year ago, but Rasul Douglas remains in free agent limbo and former first-round pick/bust Kaiir Elam was traded to Dallas. Whether Jackson ends up starting alongside Christian Benford, cornerback is in need of talent influx. Patrick talks about Benford, his thoughts on Jackson returning and three veteran free agent possibilities that could still happen, including Douglas.More than likely however, the Bills long term and perhaps immediate starting solution come come through the draft at the end of April. Patrick breaks down three prospects that could be very enticing to the Bills in the first round as well as three others who could be solid day two picks and contribute right away. That plus some NFL rule change proposals and more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to discuss some of the biggest dilemmas that Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills will be facing coming up soon this offseason. Beane and his staff have difficult decisions to make every offseason and this one will certainly be no different. Among the topics Patrick and Matt go over is if Buffalo will keep, restructure and cut Matt Milano and/or Von Miller and it comes clear you can make a case to keep one, both or none. Extensions could also play a huge role in the shape of this offseason. Greg Rousseau, James Cook, Khalil Shakir, Terrell Bernard and Christian Benford among others are all slated to go into the final years of their respective contracts. How many should be extended if possible and what should the pecking order be? Patrick admits to having some reservations about a few players based on how the postseason played out. The guys also chat about what they think should happen with the starting cornerback spot alongside Benford, feelings about Cole Bishop becoming a starter next year and a confidence in level in Keon Coleman taking a big step in his second year. They also have thoughts on a potential Garrett Myles trade, the Super Bowl on Sunday, a potential league rule change and much more. On this episode of the Salience Podcast we return to cross-domain mapping, exploring how tactical leadership and decision-making taught in the military can be applied to start-up and scale-up challenges for business and as a way to accelerate change in frontline agencies. One of the biggest challenges for military-trained leaders is adapting to the radically different power structure of civilian organisations. For starters, command and control just doesn't work the same way.I often see veterans appointed to civilian leadership roles and the civies just don't respond at all well to being told. I've seen the opposite where veterans really do lead adaptively using a range of leadership approaches that suit the situation. So today I want to tease apart the difference that makes a difference in effective leadership and decision making through that military lens. Today's guest is Ben Ford from Mission Control.Ben is a former Royal Marine and uses what he learned in the Defence Force to help veteran entrepreneurs develop a competitive advantage in business. I first came across Ben through LinkedIn where I noticed his posts about OODA, John Boyd's Observe, Orient, Decide, Act decision-making framework and how to apply that process in tech. For more information about The Salience Podcast and Frontline Mind please visit our website at https://www.frontlinemind.com/the-salience-podcast/ You can also sign up for our newsletter here https://frontlinemind.us17.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=ff181d12c77d7cea5f19a2c48&id=fd7357f614

On this episode of Crazy Wisdom, I, Stewart Alsop, sit down with Ben Ford and Michael Greenberg for a dynamic conversation. Ben is the founder of Mission Control Dev, and Michael is the founder of Third Brain, a company focused on automating business operations. We explore a variety of topics, including the real meaning of "artificial intelligence," how AI is impacting various industries, and whether we truly have AI today. Michael introduces his concept of "Third Brain," a digital layer of operations, while Ben reflects on his military background and how it shapes his current work. Both offer unique perspectives on where technology is headed, especially around the future of knowledge work, digital transformation, and the human element in an increasingly automated world. Check out the links to learn more about Ben's Mission Control Dev and Michael's Third Brain.Check out this GPT we trained on the conversation!Timestamps00:00 Introduction to the Crazy Wisdom Podcast00:15 Meet the Guests: Ben Ford and Michael Greenberg01:04 Exploring Third Brain and Mission Control03:05 Debating Artificial Intelligence05:24 The Role of AI in Business Operations08:54 Challenges in Digital Transformation16:59 Implementing AI and Digital Operations29:12 Exploring Puzzle App: A New Tool for Documentation30:14 The Power of Graphs in Computer Science32:14 Infinite Dimensions and String Theory32:57 AI Systems and Social Media Content33:31 Wardley Mapping and Business Processes35:26 The Future of AI and Job Security35:49 AI Whisperers Meetup and Conference43:35 The Role of Subject Matter Experts in AI44:13 The Impact of AI on Learning and Careers55:09 Challenges in Implementing AI Chatbots57:10 Closing Thoughts and Contact InformationKey InsightsThe distinction between AI and true intelligence: Ben and Michael both agree that current AI, particularly large language models (LLMs), lacks true intelligence. While these systems are highly capable of pattern recognition and can execute specific workflows efficiently, they fall short of human-like intelligence due to their inability to form cognitive loops, embody real-world understanding, or have agency. AI today excels at capacity but not in truly autonomous thinking.Digital transformation is continuous, not a one-time event: The idea that digital transformation has failed was discussed, with Ben and Michael pointing out that the problem lies in the perception that digital transformation has a start and end point. In reality, businesses are constantly transforming, and the process is more about ongoing adaptation than achieving a static, “transformed” state. Success in this realm requires persistent updates and improvements, especially in operational structure.AI as an enabler, not a replacement: Both guests emphasized that AI should be seen as a tool that augments human capability rather than replaces it. AI can significantly enhance the capacity of knowledge workers, enabling them to focus on more creative or strategic tasks by automating routine processes. However, human oversight and strategic input are still essential, especially when it comes to structuring data and providing context for AI systems to function effectively. The future of work involves "AI whisperers": Stewart introduces the idea of "AI whisperers" — people skilled in communicating with and directing AI systems to achieve specific outcomes. This requires a high level of linguistic and operational understanding, suggesting that those who can finesse AI's capabilities with precision will be in high demand in the future workforce. This shift may see creative, word-focused individuals becoming increasingly critical players in business operations.Structured data is crucial for effective AI deployment: A major challenge in deploying AI for businesses is the lack of well-structured data. Many organizations lack the documentation or system integration needed to effectively implement AI, meaning much of the initial work revolves around organizing data. Without this foundational step, attempts at AI deployment—such as customer service chatbots—are prone to failure, as the AI systems are only as good as the data they're fed.Graphs as the framework for business processes: Ben and Michael both highlight the importance of graphs in modern operations. Graphs, as a way to map out relationships between different elements of a system, are key to understanding and implementing digital operations. This concept allows for the visualization and optimization of workflows, helping businesses better navigate the complexities of modern digital ecosystems.AI is accelerating, and businesses need to keep up: One of the key takeaways from the episode is the rapid pace of AI advancement and its effect on businesses. Companies that fail to incorporate AI tools into their operations risk being left behind. Ben points out that the train has already left the station, and businesses need to quickly adapt by leveraging AI to streamline their processes and maintain competitiveness in an increasingly automated world.

It's another edition of The Podbag today on Talking Buffalo, the weekly episode where the audience controls the narrative as Patrick Moran responds to several questions and takes from consumers of this show. Today's highlighted by revealing Patrick's favorite Buffalo Bills player of all-time in addition people sleeping on cornerback and Christian Benford as well as a wing review of Main & Hamlin in East Aurora. WGR's Chris "Bulldog" Parker brought up this topic on the radio last week, adding the caveat of people over 40 consider it respectable to land on Josh Allen. Patrick actually does that and explains why he now chooses Allen. Also, Patrick defends Benford from a fan that considers the former sixth-round pick over hyped. Plus, someone thinks Damar Hamlin kinda sucks, Bills vs Miami rivalry trash talking and more. Most definitely want to do more small business lending but most also are falling short of their own expectations. On the show today is Sherif Hassan, an expert in how to better use data to make more and more profitable loans.Sherif is a veteran on this show. He appeared on episode 113, almost four years ago, and his topic then was “The Opportunity in Small Business Lending.”It's not coincidence that this episode wears the same title - but this is a very different, very upbeat show. Sherif is convinced credit unions are well positioned to score very big in this market. He tells why and how.Along the way Sherif tells about Benford's Law, a mathematical formula that automates fraud detection in loan apps. There's a link in the show notes to a paper he wrote about it.There's also a link to a paper he wrote on highly cost effective data procurement. In one case a small business lender saved $325.000 a year simply by buying data to use in reviewing loan apps more effectively. Sarah is still a heckler magnet, and she had to endure another one again. We debate the virtues of crowd work comedians vs. traditional sets. Susie talks about a documentary that features a child predator who admits their crimes. We discuss why these people often don't admit the harm they do to others. A silk dress from the 1800s had a secret code in its pocket and, after many years of lots of people attempting to decode it, someone finally figured out the message and it was...shocking. Newton's third law of motion (the old action-reaction dealy) was defied by a substance on Earth, and we cannot believe what it is. We discuss the consequences of people exploring their genealogical roots and finding out they might not be who they thought they were and how sperm donors existed before sperm banks. We learn how much funding goes to protecting endangered species, why a couple of animals get most of the money, and which species got $100. Plus, we learn about "Benford's Law" and the mystery of why certain numbers appear more frequently in data sets than others.Join our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/braincandypodSusie's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/susie_meisterSarah's Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/ImSarahRiceSponsors:Get an extended 30 day free trial when you go to https://www.dipseastories.com/braincandyGet 15% off @OakEssentials with the code BRAINCANDY at https://oakessentials.com/braincandy. #oakessentialspartnerHead to https://nakedwines.com/braincandy and click ‘Enter Voucher' in the top right when you get to the website, and enter BRAINCANDY for both the code AND password to get 6 bottles of wine for JUST $39.99 with shipping included!More podcasts at WAVE: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/artist/wave-podcast-network/1437831426See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
