In early December 1971, after a month of watching the lightbulbs in the List house slowly burn out one after another, neighbors finally became concerned about the List family and called the Westfield, NJ police to report their suspicions. Acting on the calls, officers arrived at house on the morning of December 7 to perform a wellbeing check, and when no one answered the door, they managed to gain access to the house through a basement window.  When they reached the first floor, the officers found the bodies of the List family—including the couple's three children—dead from gunshot wounds to the head they'd suffered a month earlier. Noticeably absent from the remains in the house were those of the family patriarch, John List. In his office, investigators discovered a letter List had written to the pastor of his local church, in which he claimed to have murdered his family in order to spare them the pain of living in a world he believed had become corrupt and morally bankrupt. Could this be the next avant-garde music sensation? Host and amateur musician Caroline Steel tackles Cornelius' question with the help of one increasingly soggy guitar. The UK's National Physical Laboratory is our first port of call, with a guitar-sized water tank at the ready, and acoustic scientists Dr Freya Malcher and Ben Ford helping tackle our questions. Since an acoustic guitar's sound is amplified by its internal chamber, what happens as that chamber starts to fill with water? How about if the whole guitar - strings, body and all - is submerged? What difference does it make if our ears are listening above or below the water? And can special water-adapted microphones help us explore this unusual question, before our guitar disintegrates? Our guitar then heads off on tour to Denmark, where the band Between Music have teased out questions just like these for their underwater music project, Aquasonic. For a Bengals team clinging to fading postseason hopes at 4-8, this loss wasn't just a tally in the standings—it was a microcosm of their season's frustrations: explosive offense undercut by untimely errors, a defense that bent but couldn't break, and the cruel poetry of two bizarre interceptions sealing their fate.The game kicked off under a blanket of white, with Mother Nature turning Highmark Stadium into a winter wonderland. Cincinnati won the coin toss and, defying convention, elected to receive. It paid immediate dividends. Joe Burrow, the Bengals' unflappable gunslinger, orchestrated a meticulous 14-play, 67-yard march that devoured 8:16 off the clock. He went 5-for-6, threading needles through the flurries to set up Chase Brown's gritty five-yard touchdown plunge—assisted by a shove from tackle Amarius Mims. Just like that, it was 7-0, and Bengals fans dared to dream of extending their streak of scoring first-drive touchdowns against Buffalo in four straight meetings.Buffalo, however, is no ordinary foe. Josh Allen, the dual-threat dynamo, answered with surgical precision. The Bills' offense, leaning on tight-end heavy sets to exploit Cincinnati's linebacker coverage, clawed back with a field goal, making it 7-3. Burrow wasn't done. In the second quarter, he carved up the secondary again, finding Tee Higgins for a one-handed, highlight-reel touchdown grab that pushed the lead to 14-3. By halftime, the Bengals held a precarious 21-11 edge, having converted 4-of-4 third downs on their opening possession. Ja'Marr Chase, battling through the weather, eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards for the season—his fifth such campaign—reminding everyone why Cincinnati's passing attack remains elite.The third quarter hinted at Bengals dominance. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran dives into what the Buffalo Bills have done at cornerback so far this offseason and perhaps more importantly, what they will do at cornerback before the 2025 regular season begins.Brandon Beane has been busy adding to the defense so far during this free agency period, but those biggest additions have come on the defensive line where they've signed Joey Bosa, Michael Hoehct and Larry Ogunjobi. The safety position has also seen Damar Hamlin re-sign as well as the addition of Darrick Forrest.The cornerback position is starting to stick out as a need at this point, perhaps the team's biggest. The Bills did bring back Dane Jackson after letting him walk a year ago, but Rasul Douglas remains in free agent limbo and former first-round pick/bust Kaiir Elam was traded to Dallas. Whether Jackson ends up starting alongside Christian Benford, cornerback is in need of talent influx. Patrick talks about Benford, his thoughts on Jackson returning and three veteran free agent possibilities that could still happen, including Douglas.More than likely however, the Bills long term and perhaps immediate starting solution come come through the draft at the end of April. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to discuss some of the biggest dilemmas that Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills will be facing coming up soon this offseason. Beane and his staff have difficult decisions to make every offseason and this one will certainly be no different. Among the topics Patrick and Matt go over is if Buffalo will keep, restructure and cut Matt Milano and/or Von Miller and it comes clear you can make a case to keep one, both or none. Extensions could also play a huge role in the shape of this offseason. Greg Rousseau, James Cook, Khalil Shakir, Terrell Bernard and Christian Benford among others are all slated to go into the final years of their respective contracts. How many should be extended if possible and what should the pecking order be? Patrick admits to having some reservations about a few players based on how the postseason played out. The guys also chat about what they think should happen with the starting cornerback spot alongside Benford, feelings about Cole Bishop becoming a starter next year and a confidence in level in Keon Coleman taking a big step in his second year.
