On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to offer some predictions on the Buffalo Bills 2025 schedule, which will be made official next Wednesday in addition to several other Bills and other topics.Of course, we already know the Bills 2025 opponents and the wait won't be much longer before we actually find out in what order they'll be, but that doesn't stop the guys from taking a stab at how they think the schedule will be. Will there be any international games? How many times will Buffalo play in prime time? How many Sunday 1pm games will they have? Will they play on a holiday? Who will they open the season against? The guys try to guess each of these questions. Also, Patrick brings up a text for discussion that really shines a negative light on Sean McDermott without actually saying that he's done a bad job. Still, it's something that deserves to be talking about.Meanwhile, Bills rookie camp began and Joe's never cared about anything in his since. Plus Joe's "True or False" segment, Patrick's Mt. It's another edition of The Podbag on today's episode of Talking Buffalo, as Patrick Moran is responding to questions, comments and takes from listeners on several topics, including being asked what's his single favorite Buffalo Bills transaction move of the offseason.Regardless of how you feel about the Bills offseason, it's indisputable that it's been a very busy one for general manager Brandon Beane and his staff. They've re-signed several of their own veterans to extensions, added a lot of free agents especially on the defensive side of the ball and added nine prospects via the NFL draft. So, which one is Patrick's personal favorite? He runs down a handful of moves that could be in the top spot before explaining why for him it's ultimately the addition of edge rusher Joey Bosa. Also, it won't be long before wide receiver Gabe Davis finds a new home after being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars and it's highly unlikely to be with the Buffalo Bills, but at least the possibility is there for right now and fans have plenty to say about that. Patrick has thoughts on people who land on either side of the fence.Cole Bishop starting at safety, Joe Brady's brain fart at the most inopportune time last year and Dalton Kincaid needing to step up are also topics, as is the NHL playoffs making a fan hate the Buffalo Sabres even more. That plus a food review on The Hoagie Stop on Clinton Street and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective for a conversation covering several Buffalo sports topics, including a potential Gabe Davis reunion with the Bills, the Sabres remaining laughable and a Bandits championship preview. The Jacksonville Jaguars released Davis just one year after signing him to a three-year, $39 million deal. Naturally, talk on social media immediately began to pour in about a potential Davis return to the Bills. The guys discuss it and while so many factors make it feel (highly) unlikely, such as what the room already looks like and Gabe having zero special teams value, it's not something that should be ruled completely out until he signs with another team. Plus, would a Gabe return show a lack of confidence in the player it feels like they drafted to replace him to begin with in Keon Coleman? Also, the Sabres announced Eric Staal is being hired to be a special assistant to general manager Kevyn Adams, who somehow reportedly is keeping his GM job and will return in the role for a sixth season. That coupled with a few other moves and rumored moves just has the guys laughing and of course, leads to yet another Patrick rant against the organization he considers the worst in all of professional sports. He's probably not alone---is the faith among the fan base quite literally the lowest it's ever been?Thankfully Buffalo sports fans have the Bandits to root for (if you're not, you should be). PK covers the Bandits brilliantly for Buffalo Sports Collective and has plenty of insight as the team gets ready to try and win their third consecutive NLL championship that begins in Buffalo on Friday May 16th. That and plenty more. You can follow PK on Twitter @PK_BSC and check out the Buffalo Sports Collective podcast.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over ten Buffalo Bills predictions he has that will play out between now and the Week one start of the 2025 NFL regular season. It's never too early for predictions, even though we certainly reserve the right to change them at some point down the line. For now though, Patrick feels pretty good about 10 things he sees happening. Among those is a returning Tre White impressing enough during the summer to at least temporarily take back control of a starting cornerback job alongside Christian Benford, even with first-round draft pick Maxwell Hairston. As Patrick explains, it's no indictment against Hairston as much as a (hopefully) fully healthy Tre White having the experience and confidence from head coach Sean McDermott that he can put White in to begin the season while letting Hairston ease his way before eventually taking over. Also, White's return felt great to a lot of Bills fans but between he and a trio of cornerback draft picks last month, the news isn't great for Dane Jackson, who Patrick predicts will have a second stint with the Bills that's short lived.James Cook likely won't get any extension in 2025 and almost certainly not before the season but Patrick doesn't think Cook's going to be an issue going into training camp in July. He does see another Bills veteran getting inked to an extension before the season starts. That plus a potentially big camp battle at safety, an unheralded rookie from last year Patrick thinks can take a big step in 2025 and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren (SB Nation) to discuss the Buffalo Bills and more specifically, dissect some of the worst decisions of Brandon Beane through his tenure so far as Bills general manager. So it's clear in the show notes just as it was said repeatedly on the podcast---this is not meant to be an indictment of Beane. The guys both think by and large Beane has done a fantastic job not just building the Bills roster but keeping them in a position to consistently challenge for a championship every season. He's made a lot more good decisions than bad ones. That said, the guys are diggig into and discussing the latter. From three early round draft picks who flamed out quickly, to a handful of free agent signings that didn't turn out the way Beane hoped, a few regretful contract extensions and a pair of trades Beane probably wishes he had back, Beane's not above being criticized. They also discuss the offseasons of two AFC rivals, Baltimore and Cincinnati. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblingsfor your (really good) daily Bills content.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several topics, including a full examination of everything Brandon Beane has done as Buffalo Bills GM when it comes to the rostering of wide receivers.Last week was a pretty controversial one for Beane after he went on WGR and immediately got after radio hosts Jeremy White and Joe Dibiase for Beane considers a lot of complaining about the Bills not doing enough at wide receiver. Besides discussing Beane's radio appearance and attitude regarding the issue, the guys dive into every move that Beane has made when it comes to wide receiver since becoming the general manager in 2017. They go through the list and discuss every receiver the Bills have drafted, signed as a free agent or traded for under the Beane regime. Spoiler alert---Patrick's more impressed with the history and list than Joe is.They also talk about Beane's most recent one-on-one interview with Tyler Dunne over at Go Long and are yet again impressed with Dunne's ability to not only get Beane for a full hour sit down but several pretty candid if not tough questions asked by Dunne in the piece. That plus Joe's True or False segment, another Patrick Mt. It's another edition of The Podbag on this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran responds to questions, comments and takes submitted by fans, consisting this week of all Buffalo Bills and including where the 2024 Bills draft class stands one year later. It's near impossible to tell if a draft class will ultimately pan out well or not after just one year and this past one was no exception, but there's certainly clues. Patrick discusses how opportunity still knocks big time for the first two picks, Keon Coleman and Cole Bishop and how they could carry roles significant to the success of the 2025 Bills. Conversely, even after just one year it's getting harder to see a clear path for third round pick Dewayne Carter getting consistent playing time after Brandon Beane traded up for defensive tackles two times in the first four rounds last week. Ray Davis seems pretty locked into the same role he had in 2024, at least for this season while the others from the 2024 class are pretty locked into roster depth, though Patrick has some decently high hopes for Javon Solomon. Also, the Bills signed wide receiver Elijah Moore on Wednesday and Patrick thinks it's a very good move, especially for this time of the offseason. It also alleviates or at least should some of the frustration of the Bills not taking a wide receiver before the seventh round last week and let's not forget—Moore just turned 25 years old.Patrick also responds to takes involving first-round cornerback Max Hairston, people who think trading up for TJ Sanders was dumb, if Damar Hamlin's roster spot could be in trouble and some perhaps going overboard on the Kansas City praising. That plus a few thoughts on yesterday's show with Bills superfan Tommy Parzymieso and much more. ♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red'sat 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this special episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by 16-year old Buffalo Bills superfan Tommy Parzymieso to discuss both his challenges and recent incredible moment, announcing the Bills first-round pick at the NFL Draft last week in Green Bay. The episode is recorded live from Imperial Pizza in South Buffalo.Born and raised in Orchard Park, Tommy at age 2 was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a very rare genetic muscle wasting disorder affecting his muscles and heart as well as his lungs. As a result of his skeletal muscles being weak, he's reliant on an electric wheelchair full time to get around. But that hasn't stopped this young man's unbelievable spirt and love for sports.Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Tommy was along with his family was given a personalized tour of the Bills facility a couple of weeks before the draft. Tommy knew about that and that he'd be getting the chance to meet Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane. What he didn't know was that Beane was going to surprise him and ask Tommy to travel to Green Bay and announce Buffalo's first pick in front a huge live audience. Tommy documents the entire experience.Tommy also talks about his favorite team, why last year's first pick Keon Coleman is his favorite player, his dream of being a football coach someday, his family and plenty more.Tommy and his family will be hosting a "Team Tommy" fundraising event that takes place this Saturday, May 3rd, being held at the Wings Meeting Place in Orchard Park, not far from Highmark Stadium. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help improve modifications needed inside their home, specialized equipment and other resources that can help Tommy continue his quality of life for years to come. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to go over some of their biggest Buffalo Bills and NFL draft takeaways after a handful of days to full digest everything that happened. When it was all said and done, the Bills ended up making nine picks and among them were two trade ups, both for defensive tackles. The guys offer their thoughts on each and how they may fit in and while going into the draft it felt unrealistic every draft pick could make the roster, Patrick actually believes there's a feasible case for each of them to make the team. If nothing else it feels the competition for roster spots in Rochester at training camp this summer should be far livelier than a year ago. Also, the Buffalo sports world is still buzzing over Bills general manager Brandon Beane's fiesty appearance on WGR 500 Monday morning when he blasted cohosts Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase for complaining that the Bills haven't done enough at wide receiver. It's led to strong reaction on both sides of the fence from fans and the guys offer their opinions on that.Speaking of wide receiver, Matt offers his take on if people are sleeping on free agent signee Josh Palmer and if the team has done enough to address the depth at the position. That plus several takeaways on the draft hauls for teams around the league, including the AFC east and plenty more. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Chris Ostrander (Two in the Box) to discuss Buffalo Bills general manager coming in hot on a WGR 550 appearance Monday morning in addition to what Chris' offseason plan is to finally fix the Buffalo Sabres this offseason.Beane made a radio appearance with Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase Monday morning and was outwardly annoyed at their "bitching' over the wide receiver position, touting the success of the offense last year despite media and fans complaining about the loss of Stefon Diggs. The guys have plenty of reaction to Beane's fiery comments. The Sabres continued to do what they've excelled at for the past 14 years now---miss the playoffs. They didn't come close either this time around as their 79 points was third from the bottom in the Eastern Conference and 12 points behind the last wild card team, Montreal. It really feels like a blown opportunity given that 92 points could've gotten them to the playoffs and everyone, for the most part rightfully so points to the 13-game winless streak early in the season that quickly did them in. As a result the Sabres pulled back into a tie with the New York Jets for the longest playoff drought of any team of the four major professional sports. So how does this never ending drought finally end? Patrick tasks Chris with coming up with a plan. What trades can be made, what free agent(s) can be convinced to come to Buffalo, what changes need to be made to the roster internally as well as the coaching staff? Does Kevyn Adams keep his GM job? Should he keep his job? Chris does his best to shed light on everything necessary to turn this mess around. Also, Chris has plenty reactions on the Bills draft and the offseason as a whole now that it's mostly complete. That plus a Sylvester Stallone vs Arnold Schwarzenegger who was a better 80's movie star debate and much more.Be sure to follow Chris on X at @2ITB_Buffalo and check out the Two in the Box blog in addition to the Instigator Podcast.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several topics, including how with all the resources allocated to the Buffalo Bills defense through free agency and now the draft, it better be a unit that looks dramatically better in 2025.Since the 2024 season ended with an AFC title game loss at Arrowhead against Kansas City, the Bills notable offensive changes have consisted of signing Josh Palmer and Laviska Shenault while letting Mack Hollins and Amari Cooper walk. They failed to add a wide receiver until the seventh round of this latest NFL draft and did grab a primarily blocking tight end late in the fifth. Meanwhile they signed Joey Bosa, Larry Ogunjobi, Michael Hoecht, Darrick Forrest, Tre White and and Dane Jackson in free agency. They then proceeded to use their first five picks and six of the first seven on defense in the draft. It's essentially an entire defensive makeover from last year. That's fine, but as the guys discuss it better lead to consistently positive changes because if it doesn't, especially come January it should be a direct indictment against Brandon Beane, Sean McDermott, Bobby Babich and other defensive coaches. They also spend some time talking Joe's trip to Western New York over the past week, including meeting up with Patrick at Resurgence Brewing last Thursday for a Bills draft party and live podcast afterwards. On this bonus weekend episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has full live reactions shortly after the conclusion of the 2025 NFL draft, including a Saturday that saw Buffalo make one big (literal and figurative) trade and six day-three selections in all. After going defense on nights one and two of the draft the Bills kept it going in round four. In fact, they packaged a late fourth and a fifth to move up to pick No. 109 that they originally traded from Chicago to go get mammoth defensive tackle Deonte Walker from Kentucky Patrick has plenty of thoughts on the move, if it made sense to him, the joy of instantly seeing people no longer whining that TJ Sanders isn't a one tech defensive tackle and what it could mean for a few veteran tackles.Patrick also has takes on the Bills other three selections, including a tight end (Jackson Hawes) he nailed in his mock draft and a strong (pun) cornerback he likes in Dorian Strong. He also offers opinions on what he loved and hated about this draft for the Bills, a few things around the league he hated about the draft as it pertains to the Bills. That plus running down his biggest steals from each round around the league, the biggest winners and losers among the Bills veterans now that draft is over and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On today's bonus Saturday episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Mike Bundt from Trainwreck Sports for LIVE reactions immediately following night two of the NFL draft, an evening that included the Buffalo Bills moving up bigtime for the defensive tackle they coveted and staying on the D-line in round three. It's now obvious that TJ Sanders was a prospect Bills general manager Brandon Beane was high on. Buffalo gave up picks 56, 62 and 109 to the Chicago Bears in exchange for 41, 72 and a seventh-round pick. After moving up 15 spots the Bills took Sanders, a 305-pound versatile defensive tackle from South Carolina. The guys have a bunch of thoughts on Sanders, the first defensive tackle to get drafted in the second round. In the third round the Bills stayed on the defensive line and took 6-5, 264 pound Arkansas edge rusher Landon Jackson, a prospect that has been heavily linked to the Bills throughout this entire draft process. Jackson had 6.5 sacks and 9.5 tackles for a loss last year with the Razorbacks. The guys react to the pick and Patrick admits that while it feels like great value, he really (really) wanted Buffalo to take Notre Dame safety. They also react to more things Buffalo and an exciting draft through two nights.Make sure to follow Mike on Twitter @Mike_Bundt.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined in person by Joe From Queens for full Buffalo Bills & NFL reaction to night one of the NFL Draft, recorded live from Resurgence Brewery in downtown Buffalo just moments after the Bills selected Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston with the first round pick at No. 30.It's a mildly surprising move with popular mock selection Trey Amos on the board but the Bills went for upside and playmaking with Hairston, who ran a 4.28/40 at the Combine, the best of any one at any position. He's a playmaker and willing tackler but definitely not known for his tackling. He's also more polished as a man defender than zone, both at least semi departures from what they usually look for. The guys have plenty of instant reactions to that and Patrick on a few surprises that happened throughout the first round. The guys were on hand at Resurgence for their Bills Draft Party, an event hosted by WGR 550's Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase with tons of fans and other outlets, including Bills Mafia founding member Del Reid.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran offers his final Buffalo Bills team and draft thoughts, scenarios and predictions for Buffalo and around the league just hours before the start of the 2025 NFL Draft. There's always so much to chew on and digest in the wanning moments before the draft and this year is certainly not exception. Among other topics, Patrick has thoughts on what bringing Tre White means and how it may connect to the draft as well the next few days potentially serving as a form of indication on how the team is feeling about 2024 second-round wide receiver Keon Coleman, who flashed but was also highly consistent as a rookie. Also, safety is a position being highly discussed and picked for the Bills early in mock drafts by many national media folk, including Malaki Starts going to Buffalo in Benjamin Albright's mock draft. Patrick wonders if the safety talk is just that---all talk.Additionally, several Notre Dame players that Patrick feels like really good fits for the Bills right for now are mentioned, as well as non-first round guys he really likes and doesn't and who his top five most likely Bills first overall picks are as things stand. That plus Patrick breezes through his one and only seven round Bills mock draft that includes not one, not two but three trade ups and more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Aaron Quinn from Cover 1 for a final Buffalo Bills seven round mock draft. less than two days before the actual NFL Draft commences on Thursday night. As is the case every year, injury reports are emerging on a handful of top prospects just days before the draft, which could push down guys who've been pretty to very high in a lot of mocks. These prospects include defensive tackles Derrick Harmon and Alfred Collins and cornerback Will Johnson. Aaron also shares how he's feeling about wide receiver Keon Coleman going into his second year and what, if anything the signing of Tre White means as it pertains to this year's draft.Kicking the draft off and things mostly go the way the guys want leading up to the Bills pick at 30, at least in terms of cornerbacks. Both Harmon and Derrick Grant are available but go off the board within five picks of Buffalo, showing it's likely Brandon Beane would have to move up for one. Aaron doesn't and is happy take a cornerback with question marks but a very high ceiling. They take what Aaron calls a bit of a luxury pick with their first of two round selections and grab defensive Joshua Palmer at pick No. 62.From there they try to wait on making a trade for specific players a few times that proves to be unsuccessful. The guys end up taking a speedy wide receiver and doubling down at defensive tackle in the fourth round before selecting a bunch of flyers on guys Aaron admittedly doesn't feel great about, lamenting not trading up and having less picks. In all though, it's a haul that both guys seem to like with a heavy emphasis on improving the talent in the secondary, with defensive end being the sacrificial lamb for it. Most Bills fans would surely be satisfied with this draft. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by SB Nation's Matt Warren to discuss several topics, including going back and forth over who's their favorite potential Buffalo Bills draft prospects as well as their least favorites. The NFL Draft is just a few days away and by this point fans have heard plenty about several prospects spanning a handful of positions, including defensive tackle, edge rusher, cornerback, safety and wide receiver. Both Patrick and Matt have five of their personal favorites as well as five they feel are more hype than substance. The guys take turns going through their lists of each and why they would love or dislike the Bills taking them. Also, Buffalo re-signed former All-Pro cornerback Tre White to a one-year contract last week. Matt has plenty of thoughts on that and how, if at all it may effect Brandon Beane's draft strategy. Plus, does Matt have something against Phil Hansen being on the Bills Wall of Fame, what they liked and disliked about Wrestlemania 41 this past weekend and much more. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to conversate on several Buffalo Bills topics, including counting down Patrick's list of the top 20 Buffalo Bills non first round draft picks of the modern era.Through interest and plenty of boredom, Patrick spent several hours going through every year of the Bills draft history and coming up with his power rankings of the best players that weren't taken in the first round. It's important to note that by modern era that means anytime past 1970 after the NFL and AFL merged. That disqualified a handful of 1960's draft picks that would've easily been on and likely near the top of the list, such as Butch Byrd, Mike Stratton, Tom Sestak and Billy Shaw.Patrick counts down his list with explanations for each and spoiler alert---there's three current Buffalo Bills players on the list. As you'd expect Joe has plenty to say about several of the players and especially the order Patrick has them ranked in. Fun little spoiler alert----Joe is not very keen on Patrick's placement of Phil Hansen and also thinks current Bills cornerback Taron Johnson is ranked way too low. Also, Joe has his Buffalo Bills/NFL Draft bingo board with plenty of hilarious nuggets. That plus their "True and False" segment, trying to avoid wrestling talk during Wrestlemania weekend and more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. It's another edition of The Podbag on today's Talking Buffalo and Patrick Moran is responding to several comments, questions and takes submitted by listeners including a heavy dose of Buffalo Bills draft topics. With a million mock drafts and opinions out there, someone asks Patrick to identity five things as it pertains to the Bills draft that he's actually feeling confident about. He comes up with five, including the likelihood that Brandon Beane is going to have to move up from pick No. 30 if his target is one of the two most talked about defensive tackles in the draft that feel like perfect fits for the Bills, Derrick Harmon and Kenneth Grant. He also expresses confidence the Bills are going to a wide receiver among their first three picks after feeling the complete opposite during this entire process while thinking running back won't be addressed much if at all next week.Patrick also responds to a take that it feels like 2022 all over again where the Bills feel pigeonholed into taking a cornerback first, such as the case with Kaiir Elam a few years ago. He explains why he doesn't really think that's case but also admits he was perfectly fine with the Elam pick when it happened in 2022.More Bills topics are covered as well as some other things as well, including understandable wrath from Buffalo Sabres fans that Keyvn Adams is clearly being retained and no excuses to not lock up Alex Tuch longterm. That plus two TV shows discussed, Wingnutz, 80's hard rock and more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this special episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by both Chris Trapasso (CBS Sports) and Nate Geary (WGR550) for a conversation centered around the Buffalo Bills and the upcoming NFL Draft, recorded live at Sonny Red's in Lackawanna. After feasting on wings and pizza at one of Western New York's most up-and-coming spots the guys get into several topics involving the Bills, including the probability that this will be a defensive heavy draft for Buffalo and a handful of prospects at defensive tackle, edge and cornerback they like more than others. Also, Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts has been a popular selection to the Bills in the second round of many mock drafts---do the guys think Watts or any safety to Buffalo within the first three rounds feels realistic? Also discussed are thoughts on how the Bills are seemingly content to more/less run it back on offense from last year with additions via the draft expected to be not much more than depth guys who can probably also play special teams. Plus, how they're feeling about the James Cook situation, favorite spots to hang out in Buffalo and tons more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren (SB Nation) to examine how the present and the future of the Buffalo Bills is looking, positionally. With the NFL Draft barely a week away, the Bills will be adding prospects to the roster that general manager Brandon Beane is counting on helping them get over the AFC hump. Defense obviously feels like the bigger need, especially considering Josh Allen just won MVP and the vast majority of the offense is back from last year. Still, the draft isn't just about one season and the guys start to go through the team position-by-position to determine where priorities could be beyond just the upcoming 2025 season.More specifically the guys talk about wide receiver being a position of interest because Beane can get out of Curtis Samuel's contract after this year. Also, Dion Dawkins is one of the game's best left tackles but at 31 years old, do you start considering grooming a replacement for when he skills inevitably decline. Also, the Bills have four NFL caliber safeties but two are signed for just one year and another a guy Buffalo can easily financially move on from in 2026 if they desire.Matt also has thoughts on what he considers the most intriguing things about this draft, the New Orleans Saints quarterback situation and much more. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by special guest Bruce Nolan (The Bruce Exclusive) for the third in a series of four Buffalo Bills full seven round mock drafts leading up the real draft beginning next Thursday night.Cornerback prospect Trey Amos was the Bills first-round pick in each of the two previous Talking Buffalo mock drafts, will Bruce make it three straight? Before they get to their mock Patrick asks Bruce about some topics surrounding the draft and certain possibilities, such as the Bills needing to be willing to roster four tailbacks on their active roster this season if they select another without trading James Cook, as some Bills are starting to talk about if not straight up root for in light of the Cook contract demands many see as unreasonable. Also, Buffalo has had a lot of wide receiver prospects in for visit and Patrick's wondering who could potentially be the odd man out, if any if they pull the trigger on a pass catcher early enough. From there they get started with the mock draft and as always with Bruce, it's informative, educational and entertaining.Make sure to follow/subscribe to The Bruce Exclusive and give Bruce a follow on Twitter @BruceExclusive.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. Arguments are plentiful on this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several topics, including examining what coaches around the NFL they'd hypothetically trade Sean McDermott for if they could. The Buffalo Bills head coach is definitely one of the more polarizing figures when it comes to this era of Bills football. He's won a ton of games and consistently leads Buffalo to division titles and the playoffs. However, he's yet to get over the hump in the AFC and the defensive-minded head coach has saw his unit implode in almost every elimination loss. The guys run through every coach around the league and play an imaginary game of what head coaches they'd swap out McDermott for if they could, and the results could surprise you.Speaking of polarizing, it wouldn't be a week of Buffalo sports talk without discussing James Cook. Bills fans have vastly varying views of Cook, some of it probably skewed by the fact they know it's likely his last year in Buffalo. The guys try to figure out how many running backs in the NFL are better than Cook right now as things stand. Also, regular segments including Joe's True or False and Patrick's Mt. Flushmore, this week consisting of the Bills all-time worst first-round draft picks. That plus questions answered from listeners and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, its another edition of The Podbag and Patrick Moran is responding to several takes and questions from listeners, including some pretty significant criticism on some of prospect selections in both the seven round Buffalo Bills mock drafts over the past two weeks on the show. One of Patrick's favorite content creators in the business, Anthony Prohaska of Cover 1 joined Talking Buffalo yesterday to play Brandon Beane in a mock draft. The first round went reasonably find but things fell apart on night two due to a few surprise picks and the refusal of Miami to agree to a trade up, throwing a big monkey wretch in Anthony's plan. He ended up choosing Ohio State defensive end JT Tuimoloau and Texas safety Andrew Mukuba, and it wasn't warmly received by a lot of commenting fans. Patrick takes us inside the ropes of the mock and what led them to the picks while also defending them, saying that while the window dressing doesn't look that great doesn't mean they wouldn't be effective additions to the roster. There's also topics expressing the concern of Taylor Rapp and Cole Bishop being the starting safety tandem, someone hoping for a Tre White reunion, a skepticism about drafting any wide receiver of real interest, why Terry Pegula is a good Bills owner, the never ending James Cook drama and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by one of the most respected Buffalo Bills content creators in the business, Anthony Prohaska of Cover 1 for a full seven round Bills mock draft, version two.In the first of the mock draft series last week, Cover 1's David Tilton came on and went with a pair of Ole Miss defenders right at the top of the Bills draft to mixed reviews from the audience. David took cornerback Trey Amos in the first round and while it wasn't exactly lauded by many, it's falling in line with many others out there projecting Amos to Buffalo because of the need and his skill set being a natural fit for Sean McDermott. Will Anthony follow suit in this week's mock? Before that, the guys spend some time refreshing Anthony's memory of his Bills mock draft on this show, which turned out to be one of the most downloaded shows of the 2024. It was a mock almost every Bills fan would trade for how the draft played out in reality because Anthony had the Bills scoring both Xavier Worthy and Xavier Legette in the second round in addition to a rising young stud safety with San Francisco in the fourth, Malik Mustapha. They also spend some time discussing several current (and prominent) Bills players recently joining the Film Room show on Cover 1, if Anthony approaches these drafts with a specific strategy, a position or player floating around for the Bills in mock drafts the guys think is a myth and a specific discussion about Shavon Revel, who Patrick considers one of the most polarizing prospects in this draft. Then it's time to fire up the mock draft simulator, one being used for the first time on this show, Stick to the Model. Trades are allowed and all bets are off in this informative and entertaining latest mock exercise.Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @Pro_Ant and of course, follow Cover 1 on YouTube for daily content no Bills fan should go without.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nations to discuss several Buffalo Bills topics, including an examination on some of the primary reasons for concerns when it comes to the 2025 Bills as things currently stand.Don't want to get this twisted---this is not a pile on the Buffalo Bills for any and all of their perceived shortcomings with the intention of being negative episodes. In fact, the guys go out of their way to praise Brandon Beane and staff and what appears to be a really solid offseason balance of locking up core players for the long term while investing free agent dollars in areas of need, particularly on the defensive line. The Bills are poised to be in the mix for an AFC championship yet again this season and for good reason---it's a very well put together roster with a lot of strengths, none so more than the MVP quarterback. However, that doesn't mean this is roster without flaws or least question marks around it and both Patrick and Matt put on their critically objective hats and discuss several of them, including what appears to be a pretty big leap of faith that Keon Coleman will grow into a very good wide receiver in his second year, the boundary cornerback position looking razor thin (again, as things stand) and a safety room that least Patrick isn't ready to start believing in.They also wonder how much, if at all the James Cook contract situation could be an issue come training camp in July and if it'll resolve itself or become a New York Jets 2024 Haasan Reddick situation in the worse case. That plus are the Bills doing enough to help Josh Allen be great, will Miami star receiver Tyreek Hill actually end up getting traded, thoughts on Cam Ward very likely being the number one overall pick and much more. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblingsfor your (really good) daily Bills content.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red'sat 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran goes over nine cornerback draft prospects he'd like to see Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills draft, tiered into three categories in addition to debating if the Buffalo Sabres recent hot streak is a good longer term development. It's obvious the Bills will be targeting at least one cornerback in the draft and very likely early. As things stand Dane Jackson would be in line to start alongside Christian Benford and it's hard to fathom Bills brass considering that a Plan A. Defensive tackle and edge rusher are two other primary needs and who knows when Buffalo pulls the trigger on a corner. Patrick has three groups with three prospects in each that he really likes and discusses all of them, ranging from guys the Bills could be fortunate to land at pick No. 30 all the way through a few likely early day three picks. Also, the Buffalo Sabres have caught fire, winning seven of their last eight games overall and have went 12-2 in their last 14 home games. There's a lot of things to like from what we've seen over the past month, but does it carry any significance beyond this season? Patrick makes cases for both the promising conclusion to yet another disappointing campaign having a positive long term impact versus potentially giving upper management a false sense of the realistic ceiling of this team as presently constructed.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several topics, including examining if Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula is given the credit he deserves for the Bills sustainable success in recent years.A lot of Buffalo fans have reservations if not flat-out disdain for Pegula because of his ownership with the Buffalo Sabres, an era that's been scarred by terrible play, terrible coaching and management decisions, Pegula not spending close to the salary cap and never making himself available to speak the media to explain or offer accountability for the Sabres woes. However, the Bills have been a playoff team in every season except one since 2017 and there's no questioning Pegula's willingness to spend as much as he can along the way. Also, Alex Ovechkin broke Wayne Gretzky's goal scoring record over the weekend, leading to Patrick recalling a Gretzky memory with strong Buffalo ties and Joe pondering what Buffalo sports records feel most unlikely to ever get broken. The guys also have thoughts on the Bills "stadium topping" celebration last Friday, pretty much on the same page with thinking it was stupid. That plus deciding if Josh Allen or Hailee Steinfeld are more famous, Joe's Truth or False segment, Patrick's Mt. Flushmore of garbage party songs and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, it's another edition of "The Podbag" as Patrick Moran is responding to questions and takes from listeners on several topics, including a discussion on which of the four big Buffalo Bills extensions can be considered "hometown discounts" after evaluating everything.Khalil Shakir, Terrel Bernard, Greg Rousseau and Christian Benford all signed four-year extensions with the Bills this offseason, a remarkable job by Brandon Beane and his staff anyway you slice it, and that doesn't even count the new Josh Allen contract. Many have called some or even all the deals extremely team friendly and even hometown discounts from the players. Patrick explains that why acknowledging every deal was one he is excited about, he stops short of calling them anything better than fair market deals in three of the four cases. Which is the one true deal Patrick feels falls well below what the player could've gotten a year from now in the open market? Also the never-ending James Cook drama took another twist this week when his house in Orchard Park was listed for sale. It has many fans angry and ready to turn the page on him right now. Patrick explains why he continues to dig his feet into the ground and insists you find a way to get another year of fully motivated James Cook before preparing to lose him in 2026.This week's Podbag also features a handful of draft questions and comments, including reaction to yesterday's first Bills mock draft that featured David Tilton from Cover 1.That plus a handful of Sabres take that show fans, and certainly not Patrick is the least bit sold on their hot streak of late and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran kicks off the first of what will be a handful of Buffalo Bills full seven round mock drafts over the next few weeks, and enlists David Tilton from Cover 1 for guidance and expertise.Depending on what you're trying to get from them, mock drafts can be incredibly useful or absolutely useless. The guys explain that rather that worrying about how the accuracy and predictive nature of mock drafts, use it as an “exercise” to learn about trends, how depth at various positions are deeper than others and just a general opportunity to learn about more prospects. They then spend some time talking about many of the Bills draft needs, both primary and secondary with David discussing some of the players he has an eye on before the mock begins, including two defensive tackles and a corner. Patrick goes over a bunch of potential trade up scenarios over the first few rounds according to the latest draft value chart before the mock is up and running.Once the mock gets going David finds himself in a bind with the 30th overall pick over taking defensive tackle Derrick Harmon or cornerback Trey Amos. Ultimately David takes the guy he was highest on entering the mock and goes defense with the next two picks as well. There is one trade that sees Buffalo trade both their fourths to get into the late third round and nab a receiver the Bills apparently are interested in “real life”, Isaiah Bond. The rest of the way it's purely best player available and David's overall happy despite missing out on a safety he semi-coveted.They also spend a few minutes getting to know David (making his first appearance on the podcast), the “Air Raid Hour” show he co-hosts with Steve Mathes on the Cover 1 platform and much more.Be sure to follow David on Twitter @Tiltmoney and of course be sure to check out the content at Cover 1,Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren (SB Nation) for their weekly chat with the focus today on a handful of sneaky positional draft needs for the Buffalo Bills in addition to a handful of interesting potential Buffalo trade up options and where packaging some picks can get them up to.Cornerback, edge rusher and defensive tackle are three big needs and (very) likely to be addressed early in the draft—possibly even their first three selections. However, there's other positions on this team that could definitely use some reinforcing with both this season and the future in mind. The guys talk about why tight end could be a little more of a priority than most think despite already having both Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox on the team. Also, an interior lineman doesn't have a real path to playing time as a rookie but that doesn't mean a solid mid round prospect can't become impactful as soon as 2026. They also discuss linebacker, running back and even punter as possiblities. Also, the Bills currently hold pick 30 in the first round and two in the second, 56 and 62. Buffalo can stay patient and get three guys that fall to them—or Patrick lays out several scenarios using the latest 2025 draft value chart to demonstrate where the Bills can realistically move up for a prospect(s) without necessarily giving up the farm.Plus, plenty of reaction from everything going on at the Owner's Meetings this week in Florida both from a Bills and league wide perspective. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss a variety of serious and unserious Buffalo Bills topics, including an outlandish scenario where the NFL forced the Bills to trade Josh Allen to another team for another player.Let's be really clear, the Bills will almost certainly never trade Josh Allen and there's a zero percent chance it would happen anytime soon. That doesn't stop the guys from having a little fun responding a question from the listener, who wants to know if the Bills absolutely had to trade Allen right now, who would be the player they'd make a one for one swap with, featuring an added caveat that the player couldn't be Patrick Mahomes.Sticking with silly, Patrick and Joe both have thoughts about it being revealed the Bills will be the subject of a Christmas movie coming this year on the Hallmark Channel — Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story. It follows the same concept with the Kansas City Chiefs last year and Patrick goes over some of the funnier potential plotlines he's seen on social media, asking Joe to give a grade for each along with a few plotlines of their own.On the more serious side, Christian Benford became the latest young Bills start to sign an extension over the weekend and there's plenty of thoughts on it. That plus the NFL owners meetings, some poignant comments that make it seem like James Cook won't be getting an extension anytime soon if at all, and plenty more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran discusses several of the top and second tier defensive lineman prospects that Buffalo Bills fans should definitely start familiarizing themselves with before the NFL Draft a handful of weeks from now. There's several reasons the Bills will be picking defensive line early and perhaps often in this draft. Between the looming six game suspensions of new free agent signees Michael Hoehct and Larry Ogunjobi, the expected ease with snaps early on with Joey Bosa and the fact several prominent lineman are in the final year of their deals (Bosa, Ogunjobi, Daquan Jones, AJ Epenesa) there's both immediate and long term needs there.Patrick goes over a lot of the top prospects at both edge and defensive tackle. James Pearce Jr. feels like a guy he thinks fans should keep an eye on at edge and wonders if Brandon Beane has the guts to take a chance with Mike Green while he'd be tickled pink to see Buffalo take Derrick Harmon or Kenneth Grant at defensive tackle with their first pick.He also shares his thoughts on Christian Benford's new contract, the incredible in-house offseason has put together and comments from the Bills GM that makes it sound like James Cook get a contract extension anytime soon is extremely far fetched. That plus show mixups and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Chris Ostrander (Two in the Box) to discuss how much more the Buffalo Bills can still add to their defensive line given their unique situation as well as some actual reasons for optimism for the Buffalo Sabres.Brandon Beane and his Bills find themselves in a bit of a bind. New additions Michael Hoehct and Larry Ogunjobi are both suspended for the first six games but when they return for Week seven, if the unit stays healthy they could find themselves as part of at least nine defensive lineman already on the active roster. Of course, that's before next month's NFL draft, where Beane's almost certain to add more talent via rookie picks. The guys discuss how much may end up being too much and if there's going to be two rookies as high picks on the roster, who can end up being the odd man out, again muddled up by the suspension of two guys who'll miss a third of the season.Sticking with the Bills the guys also discuss how they're feeling about a month out from the draft in terms of what Beane may (or may not) have up his sleeve. Do Patrick or Chris sense a big Beane move coming? They also spend a few talking about the offense including who's more important to their 2025 success— Dalton Kincaid or Keon Coleman.Turning over to the Sabres, they continue to be bottom feeders in the NHL but for today at least, the guys are discussing some of the reasons for optimism beyond Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin. Chris talks about what he's seen and liked from players such as JJ Peterka, Ryan McLeod, Jason Zucker and Alex Tuch. It's another edition of The Podbag on today's Talking Buffalo and Patrick Moran is responding to a bunch of outstanding questions and comments from listeners, including elaborating on why Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane has done a much better job at drafting since 2018 than a lot of critics give credit for.As with any general manager in sports, it's low hanging fruit to point out every draft miss that GM has made. Beane's certainly had some noticeable misses in the early rounds, including Kaiir Elam, Boogie Basham and Cody Ford to name a few, not to mention some rookies from last year who appear to have a long way to go. That said Patrick not only goes over several of Beane's best hits but goes deeper, revealing who the next prospect picked by another team in the draft was at the same position. It's insane to think what kind of shape the Bills would be in if Beane took the same positional player after guys likes Terrel Bernard, Khalil Shakir, Christian Benford, Spencer Brown and others. Also, there's pertinent questions submitted regarding the importance of James Cook and also how critical is for Keon Coleman to take a huge step in year two—or is it actually?Plus, reaction to Stefon Diggs going to New England, a move Patrick would love to see the Bills make before Week one and the high profile Stevie Johnson vs Darrelle Revis Twitter feud brewing. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation for their weekly chat, this time focused on counting down the Buffalo Bills players likely to be most instrumental to the team's success this coming season. To make things a little less obvious the guys disqualify Josh Allen from the equation since he's the clear but number one choice. Patrick runs down his list with Matt having insight on each player and if he agrees with where they're placed on the list, and at least a few at or near the top may surprise you.Not on the list are a handful of prominent players and Patrick explains why he doesn't have James Cook, Khalil Shakir or Matt Milano that while important, aren't in his top 10.Also, Matt has some thoughts on Amari Cooper, Von Miller and Rasul Douglas all remaining unsigned this deep into free agency as of this recording. Plus, is it now obvious that the Bills are taking a cornerback high in the draft? That, Stefon Diggs is reportedly running at full speed again, potential NFL surprises this year and much more. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Chad DeDominicis (Expected Buffalo) for a conversation on several Buffalo Sabres topics, including their 10 most embarrassing moments (so far) in what's become yet another laughingstock of a season. The Sabres are going to miss the NHL playoffs for a 14th straight season, the longest drought not only in the league but of all the major four sports. Missing the playoffs yet again is one thing but Buffalo's doing it in typical dramatic fashion—dead last in the eastern conference with a ton of embarrassing moments along the way.Patrick goes through 10 of them and gets insight from Chad on each, including the blown four goal home lead vs Colorado, the unanswered dirty hit on their star forward in their own building, the Terry Pegula “solution is in the room” speech before his team got pummeled in Montreal and the memorable Kevyn Adams palm trees presser among others.Patrick also has other questions to pick Chad's brain on including if Lindy Ruff's legacy will be tarnished should this be a one-and-done season for him, why has UPL regressed in net and what do we make of high first round pick Zach Benson's relatively quiet second full season with the club. That plus when we can expect to see Konsta Helenius in Buffalo and much more. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss a myriad of topics including discussing some of the Buffalo Bills biggest breakout candidates for 2025.Listeners submit a handful of interesting questions and takes on the Bills that leads to some fun discussions between Patrick and Joe. One of them is wondering who's going to be the next breakout star for the team and Patrick suggests that the answer not only could be Keon Coleman but it needs to be him. Brandon Beane didn't do any big game hunting in the wide receiver market and Patrick suspects the biggest reason is the expectation that Coleman takes a major step in his second season. Also, does Joe think the idea of Buffalo trading James Cook is stupid? That's discussed as well as wondering why certain player suspensions feel more deserved than others.Plus, Patrick talks about a major cancer scare he recently had and also an upcoming appearance on a new podcast. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective for a conversation over a well rounded set of topics involving the Buffalo Bills, Sabres and Bandits. It's the first time PK's been on the show since NFL free agency started and Patrick wants to know what his favorite and least favorite things about the process has been for the Bills through this point. Beyond comings and going there was recent news that linebacker Matt Milano took a pay cut for this upcoming season and a result will be eligible to become a free agent at season's end. What's the chances this is Milano's last season as a Buffalo Bill?As for the Sabres, it continues to be same song and dance and it's as evident as ever that fans are tired of it. The guys talk about the team continuing to be an embarrassment on and off the ice, from their last place in the conference standings to a recent poll by The Athletic that showed Terry Pegula dead last in NHL owner rankings. All of it's a shame because this is an organization that has two of the best players in the league that don't get celebrated the way they should. Also, PK spends some time talking about the Bandits, who are on a bit of a skid by their standards. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran dives into what the Buffalo Bills have done at cornerback so far this offseason and perhaps more importantly, what they will do at cornerback before the 2025 regular season begins.Brandon Beane has been busy adding to the defense so far during this free agency period, but those biggest additions have come on the defensive line where they've signed Joey Bosa, Michael Hoehct and Larry Ogunjobi. The safety position has also seen Damar Hamlin re-sign as well as the addition of Darrick Forrest. The cornerback position is starting to stick out as a need at this point, perhaps the team's biggest. The Bills did bring back Dane Jackson after letting him walk a year ago, but Rasul Douglas remains in free agent limbo and former first-round pick/bust Kaiir Elam was traded to Dallas. Whether Jackson ends up starting alongside Christian Benford, cornerback is in need of talent influx. Patrick talks about Benford, his thoughts on Jackson returning and three veteran free agent possibilities that could still happen, including Douglas.More than likely however, the Bills long term and perhaps immediate starting solution come come through the draft at the end of April. Patrick breaks down three prospects that could be very enticing to the Bills in the first round as well as three others who could be solid day two picks and contribute right away. That plus some NFL rule change proposals and more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss and assign a grade for each part of the Buffalo Bills offseason through this point in addition to discussing the offseason for some AFC rivals. To say it's been an interesting offseason so far for the Bills may truly be an understatement. Props to anyone who had the Bills signing a Bosa in free agency and multiple defenders who will be suspended to start the season on their bingo cards, but here we are. Matt has plenty of thoughts on the Bills “swinging big” with Joey Bosa while Brandon Beane, rightfully so caught heat for inking Michael Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi to deals despite pending suspensions, the former a situation Beane knew about. That's just a part of an eventful offseason. The Bills also extended three key young core players in addition to the big Josh Allen contract. That's discussed and evaluated as are a few re-signings including Ty Johnson and Damar Hamlin as well as a few more low key adds like Laviska Shenault, Dane Jackson and Darrick Forrest. The guys also evaluate and discuss how the rest of the AFC east has done during this period in addition to the Bengals ponying up for both their star receivers, the Chiefs having a very interesting offseason and plenty more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast

That's led to many fans turning on him of sorts, and often suggesting the Bills should trade him since they're almost certainly not going to pay him the kind of money he's looking for. Patrick absolutely disagrees with pretty much any trade theory short of a team being stupid enough to overpay to the extent Brandon Beane can't refuse. While agreeing that Cook's snap percentage and a shortcoming or two of his leads to him not being deserving of the same type of money guys like Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry can command, he explains multiple reasons why he considers trading Cook completely foolish, even if this is his last year on the team. Also Patrick has thoughts on a listener calling the Bills signing of Joey Bosa the Baltimore equivalent of adding DeAndre Hopkins and worries that the Bosa move has Shawn Merriman vibes from more than a decade ago. That plus Keon Coleman being counted on to step up, Damar Hamlin returning to the Bills, Shaun Dolac showing on during his UB Pro Day and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss and react to all of the Buffalo Bills additions so far in free agency as well as the suspensions to Michael Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi. It's been hard to put a finger on exactly how free agency has been for the Bills to this point. Weird is the term Patrick comes up with. Brandon Beane clearly had a few things in mind with his approach, most notably a receiver with a specific skill set and essentially an overhaul on the defensive line. It was shocking news to learn on Friday both Hoecht and Ogunjobi would be suspended six games each for PED violations, especially shocking to hear Beane admit he didn't know about Ogunjobi but did ahead of time with Hoecht. The guys have plenty of reactions to that news and the way a lot of fans are handling it.Also, the Bills may be relying on rookies more than they like in 2025 early on after the suspensions. The guys discuss how impactful rookies have been with the team throughout the Sean McDermott era.Plus, Joe introduces a true or false segment, Patrick has a Mt. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest Chris Ostrander (Two in the Box) to react to the Buffalo Bills being aggressive to find improvements to their roster over the past week in addition to the Buffalo Sabres remaining consistently disgraceful as their season mercifully is near an end. It's been a week of a lot of Bills news and reactions on this podcast and that continues today with Chris, who primarily covers hockey but's very plugged into the the Bills as well. He's got thoughts on Buffalo adding three new veteran bodies to the defensive line that come with a lot of experience and question marks, but also plenty of upside.Turning their attention the Sabres, it's been another absolute embarrassment as Buffalo is dead last in the Eastern Conference and 30th overall with just 18 games remaining to play. Patrick asks Chris for his reaction to claims that captain Rasmus Dahlin is fed up to the point that he told current general manager Kevyn Adams to fix things soon or he wants out. Dahlin publicly denied the claims but do the guys believe he's at that point? One thing's for certain----- Dahlin and Tage Thompson are two stars on this team who instead of being properly celebrated are just rotting their careers away with this organization.Speaking of, Chris has thoughts on if retaining Adams beyond this season is even sellable to fans. That plus what's going on with UPL's regression, Jack Quinn's future and tons more.Be sure to follow Chris on X at @2ITB_Buffalo and check out the Two in the Box blog in addition to the Instigator Podcast.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to discuss the first three days of free agency for the Buffalo Bills and specifically what's become an overhaul of their defensive line following three significant additions. It wasn't exactly a secret that the Bills were going to look to improve a defensive line that was good at times in 2024 but also floundered too often as well, none more than last year's AFC championship game loss in Kansas City. Bills general manager Brandon Beane took some pretty big steps to try and improve the unit this week, signing Michael Hoecht on Monday before the big one, Joey Bosa on Tuesday and following it up with a third addition on Wednesday morning, Larry Ogunjobi. The guys break down all three moves and discuss what they like and don't like about them, and there's plenty of both on Bosa and Ogunjobi.Beane also addressed safety on Wednesday, bringing back Damar Hamlin on a one-year deal and also signing Darrick Forrest. Patrick thinks Hamlin being back is a reflection of an open market that rejected him, something Matt definitely disagrees with. With these moves plus the signing of Josh Palmer and re-signing of Ty Johnson earlier, it certainly appears the meat and potatoes of the Bills roster is set heading into NFL draft season next. That's with the exception of cornerback. Both guys have thoughts on where this roster stands as well as some reaction to happenings around the NFL and plenty more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran reacts to day two of free agency tampering period for the Buffalo Bills, including a nighttime bombshell of Buffalo signing edge rusher Joey Bosa to a one-year, $12.6 million deal in one of the biggest risk vs reward swings of Brandon Beane's tenure.Day two was calm for Buffalo in terms of moves and it felt like Beane's sole focus could be maintaining the Bills running back room after re-signing Ty Johnson to a two-year deal and bringing back Darrynton Evans for his third stint with the team. By the way, Patrick explains why he absolutely loves the move to bring Johnson back although many fans were ready for that to not happen in hopes they'd see more James Cook in 2025---an idea that Patrick explains as stupid. But the big news happened at 9:22pm when "Beane After Dark" struck again, as NFL Insiders reported the Bills signed Bosa to a one-year, $12.6 million contract included $12 million guaranteed. Patrick has a slew of thoughts about this move that could be a strikeout as easily as a home run for the Bills. What should fans love about it? Hate about it?That plus what the Bills still need going forward, hopefully in advance of the NFL draft and much more. On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran offers plenty of live reaction from day one of the NFL free agency tampering period as it pertains both to the Buffalo Bills and around the NFL.The Bills made their first move of free agency on Monday on offense, inking former Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Josh Palmer to a three-year deal worth a reported $36 million. They followed that up by inking defensive lineman Michael Hoecht to a three-year deal worth a reported $24 million.Palmer's stats with the Chargers have been pretty pedestrian throughout his four year career, catching 39 passes for 584 yards and a touchdown last year. While his general stats are hardly impressive Patrick elaborates on why he was calling for this signing literally as recently as yesterday's show, explaining how plenty of metrics demonstrate that he's the type of receiver the Bills lack and could really use right now in this offense that was historical. As far Hoecht, Patrick admits to not knowing much at all about him but runs off some facts for him and feels better about the addition after seeing some plugged in Bills content creators having been supportive of the signing before free agency started.Patrick also has thoughts on while everyone wants the Bills to add star players and they very well still may, it was their role players and some of those contributions that were a major reason Buffalo had such a great season in 2024, saying Palmer's presence could be along the lines of great contributors from last year like Ty Johnson, Mack Hollins, Alec Anderson, Dorian Williams and others.Patrick also talks about what he's happy and not happy about in regards to where the Bills stand early on in free agency---where he thinks the Bills should've went with some decisions and still may going forward. That plus thoughts on some of the bigger signings around the league, the New England Patriots making a lot of noise and plenty more.♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast
On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for a Buffalo Bills free agency preview and some bold predictions as the craziest week of the NFL offseason gets underway.Bills general manager Brandon Beane has been busy in advance of Monday's start of free agency, locking up core pieces Greg Rousseau, Terrel Bernard and Khalil Shakir to long term four-year extensions before the biggest one Sunday evening---locking up Josh Allen on a six-year deal that gives him the highest guaranteed dollar amount in NFL history, $250 million.. They also said goodbye to Von Miller on Sunday morning as well. The guys have reaction to all of the big moves Buffalo's made leading to free agency. They also spend plenty of time talking about possibilities at some of the positions most obvious the Bills will be looking to upgrade and fortify--- defensive edge, defensive tackle, cornerback, wide receiver and possibly safety. Plenty of pretty well known names are out there and there's also some guys that could be great lowkey fits. Also, Patrick has a slew of Bills free agency predictions, including the possibility of a trade for Trey Hendrickson and Joe has some takes of his own. That plus Joe's Free Agency Bingo Board and much more.Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red's at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. It's another edition of The Podbag on Talking Buffalo and Patrick Moran is responding to listener questions, comments and takes almost entirely focused on the Buffalo Bills, many of them contentious on how the Bills should proceed with this offseason. It seems pretty apparent that the Bills are looking to add a major piece or two to what's clearly a championship caliber roster led by a MVP quarterback. How Brandon Beane should prioritize handlings needs is hotly debated. There's certainly a school of thought that the Bills should trade for DK Metcalf, one of the best wide receivers in the game that Seattle is reportedly willing to shop. However, Patrick explains that while having Metcalf in the fold would be amazing, it absolutely shouldn't be their top priority.Instead, Patrick explains why adding a high impact pass rusher should be most important and makes his case for Josh Sweat of the Philadelphia Eagles, on the assumption Myles Garrett won't end up ultimately traded. Also, Patrick responds to someone asking him for the most realistic path to the Bills getting over the hump, if he'd have interest in Joey Bosa, is Kaiir Elam's time in Buffalo toast and a potential Garrett trade scenario. That plus a Sabres rant and thanks for being around for episode number 1,000 this past week!♦♦♦♦♦Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast Substack: Patrick Moran's SubstackTwitter: @PatrickMoranTBBlue Sky: @PatrickMoranTB.bsky.socialInstagram: @PatrickMoranTBFacebook: Talking Buffalo Podcast
