Send us a textDrew and Rob are back with another packed episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates*, covering the latest headlines surrounding the New York Giants. The coaching carousel has settled, and Mike Kafka is officially returning as the Giants' offensive coordinator after Kellen Moore was hired by the Saints. Despite some speculation that Kafka could land the job in New Orleans, he remains in New York, ensuring continuity on Brian Daboll's staff. What does this mean for the Giants' offensive approach in 2025, and how does it impact their ongoing search for a quarterback?  Speaking of quarterbacks, the Giants are expected to pair a rookie signal-caller with a veteran this offseason. Sports Illustrated's Connor Orr suggests that Big Blue could target Bengals backup Jake Browning as a bridge QB, allowing a potential rookie—like Cam Ward—to develop. Browning impressed in Joe Burrow's absence last season, winning four of his seven starts and completing over 70% of his passes. The Giants hold the third overall pick in the draft, but could they also make a move for a seasoned quarterback to steady the ship?  While the Giants are focused on their rebuild, they face some brutal odds heading into next season. BetMGM currently lists them at 200-1 to win the Super Bowl—the worst odds in the NFL. Even teams like the Raiders, Browns, and Saints, who are also dealing with major uncertainties, have better chances according to the sportsbooks. Can the Giants use this as motivation to prove the doubters wrong?  Off the field, Giants fans got a reminder of their NFC East rivals' success when Jermaine Eluemunor found himself unintentionally caught up in the Eagles' Super Bowl parade at Disney. The veteran lineman took to social media, joking that he had to endure the Eagles' chant while trying to enjoy his last day at the park with his daughter. Meanwhile, Michael Strahan stirred up controversy among Giants fans when he waved an Eagles flag and said, "Fly Eagles Fly" during the Super Bowl pregame show. Amani Toomer didn't hold back, calling it a "shot across the bow" and insisting that former Giants players have every right to demand better from the franchise. Carl Banks backed him up, making it clear that the Giants' alumni are frustrated with the state of the team.  Looking ahead to the draft, Drew and Rob break down Ohio State quarterback Will Howard, who is rising up draft boards after leading the Buckeyes to a national championship. Howard's journey from Kansas State backup to championship-winning QB has been remarkable, and his skill set could fit well in Brian Daboll's system. He's got the arm strength and athleticism but still needs refinement in his mechanics and post-snap reads. Could the Giants target him in the middle rounds if they miss out on one of the top-tier quarterback prospects?  With the Giants holding the third spot in waiver priority, their offseason moves are just beginning. Who will they add, and what other changes are in store for Big Blue? Send us a textThe latest episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates* dives into all the biggest headlines surrounding the Giants as the offseason rumor mill heats up. Ja'Marr Chase sent social media into a frenzy after his cryptic tweet about Eli Manning, leading to wild speculation that the superstar receiver could have discussed joining the Giants. This comes just days after reports surfaced that the Giants are planning to pursue a top offensive weapon this offseason. But is this all just a case of fans grasping at straws?  The Giants' offensive line remains a major topic, and one name to watch is Will Fries. The Staten Island native has improved every season with the Colts, and despite missing time in 2024 due to injury, his early-season performance graded among the league's best. Could he be a solution for the Giants' struggling O-line? Meanwhile, former Giants receiver Brandon Marshall had high praise for the organization but also questioned their handling of Saquon Barkley's departure. He acknowledged the reality of the business side but made it clear that letting a generational talent walk is a tough pill to swallow.  At the East-West Shrine Bowl, quarterback prospects Shedeur Sanders and Michael Penix Jr. had a fun exchange with a Giants fan, playfully asking him to choose between them. With quarterback rumors swirling around Big Blue, it was a lighthearted moment that got fans talking about the team's draft strategy. Meanwhile, Eli Manning showed off his signature humor, joking that he enjoys the Hall of Fame debate because it keeps him in the news. With the Hall of Fame class set to be announced on February 6th, the two-time Super Bowl MVP remains a hot topic.  In coaching news, Mike Kafka may be sticking around. The Saints are reportedly zeroing in on Kellen Moore as their top choice, leaving Kafka in limbo. After interviewing twice for the head coaching job, including an exhausting nine-hour second interview, Kafka's future remains uncertain. If he stays, what does that mean for the Giants' offense heading into 2025?  The biggest bombshell of the week is Myles Garrett's trade request. The Browns star pass rusher wants out, and his departure could shake up the entire draft board. With Cleveland picking just ahead of the Giants, could they pivot to a full rebuild and target a quarterback? Would they draft Abdul Carter as a potential replacement for Garrett? Or is this all just a leverage move for a bigger contract? The situation could have major implications for the Giants' offseason plans.  Finally, Tiki Barber had a strong message for Tom Brady and Kevin Burkhardt ahead of the Super Bowl. He warned them not to continue hammering the Giants over their decision to move on from Saquon Barkley, saying it's already been played out. With Burkhardt being an Eagles fan and Brady still carrying scars from two Super Bowl losses to the Giants, their comments last week struck a nerve.  With free agency and the draft approaching, the Giants have plenty of tough decisions ahead. Will they make a splash move for a top weapon? Is Myles Garrett's situation something to monitor? And what does the future hold for Mike Kafka? Daboll reveals his passion for the quarterback position and how he enjoys assessing players in various game situations, including two-minute drills and responding after mistakes. His insights shed light on what the Giants may be looking for in their future quarterback. The conversation then shifts to Joe Schoen, who expresses the Giants' openness to any opportunity with the third overall pick in the upcoming draft. With so much talent available, Schoen feels confident that the Giants will land a top-tier player regardless of how the draft unfolds. Schoen also discusses his impressions of Shedeur Sanders, acknowledging his impressive football IQ, strong personality, and passion for the game, all qualities that stand out as the Giants continue to evaluate potential prospects. The episode continues with Schoen's thoughts on Mike Kafka's future with the Giants. Schoen admits that he hopes Kafka stays with the team, as the offensive coordinator has garnered attention from other NFL teams for his coaching abilities. Kafka's strong leadership, football knowledge, and success with the Giants' offense make him a valuable asset, and Schoen is hopeful he remains in New York for the future. Meanwhile, inside the Giants' building, there is growing support for Brian Daboll to relinquish play-calling duties to Mike Kafka. This would allow Daboll to focus more on managing the entire team, ensuring no detail is overlooked. The potential shift in responsibilities could significantly impact the team's dynamic moving forward. Finally, the episode takes a closer look at Jaxson Dart, the Ole Miss quarterback, and his potential fit with the Giants. Dart speaks highly of his relationship with the Manning family, who have been a significant influence on his career. Eli Manning, in particular, has closely followed Dart's development and is impressed by his progress and ability to make all the necessary throws. Dart believes transitioning to the Giants' system would be a smooth process, adding another layer of intrigue to the team's future quarterback situation. This episode is packed with valuable insights into the Giants' decision-making process and what's on the horizon for the team. Send us a textIn this episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates,* Drew and Rob dive deep into the latest New York Giants news and offseason developments. The hosts kick things off with exciting updates about Malik Nabers, the standout rookie wide receiver for the Giants, who has been named to the NFC Pro Bowl roster. Nabers replaced Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, making history as the first Giants wide receiver to earn a Pro Bowl selection since Odell Beckham Jr. in 2016. Nabers broke multiple records in his first year, including the NFL rookie record for receptions and the Giants' all-time record for single-season receptions.  Next, Drew and Rob discuss the Giants' connection with Shrine Bowl star Shedeur Sanders. Giants head coach Brian Daboll, general manager Joe Schoen, and other top personnel were seen chatting with Sanders during practices and at the team hotel, highlighting their growing relationship with the talented quarterback prospect. This interaction has sparked speculation about whether Sanders could be a fit for the Giants as they rebuild their offense.  The discussion transitions to the Giants' representation in mock drafts. NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah projects Miami QB Cam Ward as the Giants' selection at third overall in his latest mock draft, praising Ward's strong arm and playmaking ability as a potential solution to the team's quarterback woes. The hosts then share their own January mock draft, featuring Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders as the Giants' top pick, followed by offensive line reinforcements Armand Membou and Tate Ratledge. The draft strategy prioritizes protecting the quarterback and addressing key needs on the offensive line and defensive front.  Additionally, Drew and Rob break down coaching rumors, including Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka's second interview with the New Orleans Saints. If hired, Kafka is reportedly planning to bring Wink Martindale as his defensive coordinator, potentially leaving the Giants with major coaching vacancies to fill. They also note the Lions' hiring of former Giants linebacker Kelvin Sheppard as their new defensive coordinator, showcasing another connection between the Giants and the league's coaching carousel.  The episode wraps up with discussions about late-round draft prospects, including Alfred Collins, Jared Ivey, and Shilo Sanders, and their potential to bolster the Giants' depth. One of the top headlines is that Giants assistant general manager Brandon Brown has received a second interview with the Las Vegas Raiders for their GM position, while offensive coordinator Mike Kafka has secured a second interview with the New Orleans Saints for their head coaching vacancy. These interviews highlight the growing demand for Giants personnel in leadership roles around the league. In other news, former Giants linebacker Tae Crowder, originally dubbed "Mr. Irrelevant" in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Georgia, has found a new home. After spending three seasons with the Giants and accumulating 232 tackles, Crowder had brief stints with the Steelers, Chargers, and Titans. He sat out the entire 2024 season but has now signed with the UFL's Birmingham Stallions, looking to rejuvenate his football career. The NFL's "Hard Knocks" series might not be returning for the offseason, with teams reportedly hesitant after the Giants' challenging experience on the show. NFL Films VP Keith Cossrow recently addressed the situation, indicating that they are still in talks with teams but need a willing participant to move forward. With the Giants' struggles documented last season, it remains uncertain if any team will step up.Rookie tight end Theo Johnson opened up about his first year in the NFL, describing it as a whirlwind experience filled with valuable lessons. Despite suffering a season-ending injury—a broken fifth metatarsal in the Thanksgiving game against the Cowboys—Johnson is nearing full recovery and is eager to make an impact in the 2025 season. He remains optimistic about his role in helping turn the Giants' offense around.Giants legend Michael Strahan is set to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Strahan's dominance at Texas Southern, where he set records for single-season and career sacks, paved the way for an illustrious NFL career with the Giants. He finished just shy of Lawrence Taylor's franchise sack record and ranks among the league's all-time leaders in sacks. Strahan will be honored alongside football greats such as Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, and Michael Vick. The episode also features an in-depth analysis of the Giants' edge rushers. Brian Burns had a standout season with 8.5 sacks and 71 tackles, earning an impressive PFF grade of 79.2. Kayvon Thibodeaux followed with 5.5 sacks, while Azeez Ojulari contributed 6 sacks despite limited starts. Hour 1 Championship weekend is set and most of the games were decided by teams turning the ball over. Boomer does not like Patrick Mahomes flopping and the refs calling penalties every time that guy gets hit. He gets treated differently than any other quarterback in the league. Gio doesn't think he'll be treated the same way because they are playing the Bills. Nobody wants to see the Texans move on, so Mahomes got all the calls. Gio thinks the Bills going to the Super Bowl is a bigger story so Mahomes won't get all the calls. With the Lions defensive performance Saturday night, has this hurt Aaron Glenn? Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Bills beating the Ravens as Mark Andrews had a tough fourth quarter. On the 2-point attempt, Boomer thinks it's more on Lamar Jackson than Mark Andrews. Lamar Jackson talked about his turnovers that cost them the game. Josh Allen talked about moving on to KC. We heard one of the many great runs by Saquon Barkley as they beat the Rams. AJ Brown showed up to the game in a Honda Accord. Dan Campbell was very emotional after the loss to Washington. In the final segment of the hour, Matthew Stafford is going to take some time to decide what to do next. Gio said he immediately goes to the top of the list of available quarterbacks. Hour 3 We talked about Jalen Hurts' performance yesterday against the Rams. Boomer thought he held onto the ball for too long in many instances. We also talked about Washington and how Dan Quinn will probably be the coach of the year and Jayden Daniels will be the rookie of the year. Boomer said this is what a great quarterback can do for a team. The Giants and Jets both need that. Boomer thinks it's easier for the Giants to be at 3, since one of the quarterbacks will ‘fall to them' and it won't be their decision to make. Boomer wonders if the Raiders move up to 2 to take Shedeur Sanders. What are the Giants selling to their fans if they don't get Sanders or Cam Ward? Boomer said this Commander's team reminds him of the 2007 Giants. Caitlin Clark was in the box in Kansas City with Taylor Swift. Send us a textIn this episode of *2 Giants Goofballs: New York Giants News & Updates*, Drew and Rob delve into the New York Giants' recent announcement that Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will retain their positions as general manager and head coach, respectively, despite the team's disappointing 3-14 record. Giants owner John Mara issued a statement expressing confidence in Schoen and Daboll's long-term vision while acknowledging the frustration of back-to-back seasons with declining results. Mara emphasized the importance of improvement next year, noting that his patience is wearing thin.  The hosts analyze the Giants' struggles, including a winless record in the NFC East, and the questions surrounding the organization's refusal to tank despite whispers of strategic decisions like keeping key players Malik Nabers and Tyrone Tracy Jr. on the sidelines during a critical late-game drive. They explore Mara's strong stance against tanking and the weight of his words about needing to see tangible progress in 2024.  Attention also shifts to the potential departure of offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, as the Chicago Bears have requested permission to interview him for their head coaching vacancy. The future of defensive coordinator Wink Martindale is also up in the air, leaving the coaching staff in a state of uncertainty as the offseason begins.  Drew and Rob evaluate the futures of key players, including Darius Slayton, Azeez Ojulari, and Greg Van Roten. Slayton's production dipped in 2024, making his $7.95 million cap hit a point of debate, while Ojulari's frequent injuries cloud his value despite his pass-rushing ability. Meanwhile, Van Roten played every offensive snap last season and showed versatility across the offensive line, but his struggles in pass protection raise questions about whether he should return.  Finally, the Giants made some early offseason moves, signing five players to reserve/futures contracts, including defensive linemen Casey Rogers and Ross Blacklock, centers Jimmy Morrissey and Bryan Hudson, and kicker Jude McAtamney. Drew and Rob discuss how these signings could impact the depth chart heading into next season.  With Mara's ultimatum for progress and key decisions looming over the roster and coaching staff, the Giants face a crucial offseason that could define the franchise's trajectory for years to come. Tune in as Drew and Rob break it all down with their trademark insight and passion for Giants football.#giants #nygiants #nflSupport the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Hour 1 Boomer & Gio are back today after a long vacation. We are starting year 8 of Boomer & Gio. Boomer is sick of people saying, ‘my bad' when mistakes are made. We talked about the terror attack in New Orleans. Gio is ‘fully activated' with the Vikings playing the Lions Sunday night for the NFC North title and the number one seed. Boomer talked about the Giants future with Sam Darnold at QB and Brian Flores as the head coach, if they fire Brian Daboll. C-Lo is in for Jerry today and is here for his first update and starts with the Knicks win over Utah. Saquon Barkley will not play this week against the Giants and Saquon reacted to that. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about Brian Daboll's future with the Giants. Boomer said if the Falcons had hired Bill Belichick, they would be going to the Super Bowl. Hour 2 We were talking about the NFL and somehow got on Puka Nacua being unstoppable. We also talked about Tee Higgins and contracts for wide receivers. Boomer said Tee Higgins should sign elsewhere for more money and Davante Adams should go to the Bengals. Many Jets players were checked out during the Bills game from Sunday. Gio said Aaron Rodgers is more of a symbol than a quarterback at this point and he has to go. The Jets are interviewing Ron Rivera today and Gio said they can't hire a head coach before hiring a GM. Mike Vrabel seems to want the Patriots job. Boomer sees Ben Johnson going to the Bears. Gio has had enough of the Ben Johnson tongue bathing. C-Lo returns for an update, but first Jerry Recco called in. C-Lo starts with a montage of Mike Breen calls from the Knicks win over Utah. We heard sound from some of the college football games from yesterday. The Eagles are resting players against the Giants. Boomer wonders if Saquon is a gold jacket guy because of this season. Aaron Rodgers talked about needing a mental break after the season. In the final segment of the hour, Gio said January 2nd is normally the worst day of the year. Boomer said a polar vortex is coming. We talked about the NFL MVP race and Sam Darnold. And the Vikings are still likely to let him go instead of paying him big money. Hour 3 Gio said he unplugs when he's on vacation and doesn't check out the station. He put it on for his ride and heard Juan Soto talk for an hour. E:60 aired an episode on Gunnar Esiason called, ‘Second Wind'. Gio watched it on Christmas eve when it aired live. We talked all about it. C-Lo returns for an update and gives us some examples of people who filled in for the sports minutes. One guy calls himself, ‘Sean Levine, the sports machine'. Chris McMonigle was furious with the Giants win over the Colts. Joe Benigno did not like Brian Costello's Jets article mentioning Matt Nagy as a potential head coach. C-Lo has a clip of Aaron Rodgers and Jeff Ulbrich and wonders which one is lying more. Joe Burrow talked about the Bengals letting great players leave the building. Boomer said the top coaching candidates will be Mike Vrabel and Ben Johnson. The Jets need a guy like Jon Gruden, Vrabel or Brian Flores according to Boomer. Ben Johnson's personality won't fit here and there's no way he would choose the Jets. In the final segment of the hour, congestion pricing goes into effect this coming Monday. Hour 4 Today we start the eighth year of Boomer & Gio. Ron Rivera is interviewing with the Jets today. They still don't have a GM and whoever it is, they have to bring in an alpha male head coach. The GM can't be the alpha male, the head coach has to be. Boomer doesn't think any of the QBs in the draft will be as good as Jayden Daniels or Bo Nix. We also talked about Sam Darnold and how the Vikings are likely going to let him go because of the salary cap. C-Lo returns for his final update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Knicks beating the Jazz. C-Lo ran down the college football games from yesterday. Brian Daboll was asked about his offense and Mike Kafka. The Colts had the worst game of tackling a ...

Send us a textWe kick things off with a major concern for Giants fans—rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers has been added to the injury list with a knee injury. Nabers has been limited in practice, raising questions about his availability for Sunday's critical game. The Giants desperately need him on the field as they look to bounce back from their Week 1 performance. Drew and Rob discuss how the team might handle this situation and what it means for the offensive game plan.Next, we dive into the unfolding situation with linebacker Isaiah Simmons, who's expressed frustration over his lack of playing time. Simmons had zero snaps in Week 1, and his comments to the media make it clear he's unhappy with his role. Having signed a one-year, $2M deal with the Giants after being on the free-agent market for a month, Simmons expected to have a bigger impact. Drew and Rob debate whether Simmons is right to speak out or if he should let his play in practice do the talking. With his career already labeled a disappointment after being a high draft pick, this season could make or break his future in the NFL. How should the Giants handle this situation, and will Simmons see the field soon?We also take a look at comments made by Vikings linebacker Jonathan Greenard following the Giants' crushing 28-6 loss to Minnesota. Greenard admitted that the Vikings defense felt bad for Daniel Jones as they completely shut down the Giants' offense. This opens up a bigger discussion on the state of the Giants' offensive line and the team's overall performance. In response to these remarks, Giants head coach Brian Daboll and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka strongly defended Jones, praising his toughness and resilience despite the early season struggles. Defensive lineman Rakeem "Nacho" Nunez-Roches also chimed in, comparing the situation to a parent watching their child struggle and urging Giants fans to support their quarterback. Drew and Rob discuss the scrutiny Jones faces and whether he can rebound from the Week 1 disaster. In an exciting twist, the rumor mill is buzzing with speculation about Bill Belichick's potential interest in coaching the Giants. Former Patriots receiver Julian Edelman stirred the pot by suggesting that if the Giants' head coaching job ever opens up, Belichick could be intrigued. Known for his deep ties to the Giants organization, where he began his coaching career, Belichick has often spoken fondly of his time with the team. Drew and Rob debate the feasibility of this rumor and how Belichick could reshape the future of New York's football franchise. We wrap up the show by making our Week 2 NFL picks. Drew and Rob break down the key matchups, including the Giants' pivotal NFC East showdown against the Washington Commanders. They'll give their insights on the spreads, over/under predictions, and who they think will come out on top. Can the Giants turn things around, or will Washington take advantage of New York's shaky start? From the high-powered Bills-Dolphins clash to the Buccaneers vs. Lions game, they'll analyze all the key games this weekend and what it means for the Giants in the larger NFC picture.#giants #nygiants #giants100Support the showAll Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. Send us a textIn this live episode of "2 Giants Goofballs: A New York Giants Podcast," Drew and Rob dive into the latest updates and rumors surrounding the Giants, including a major change in the offensive strategy. Head coach Brian Daboll confirmed he'll be calling plays this season, taking over the role from offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, who held the position for the last two years. The Goofballs discuss the implications of Daboll's decision and what it could mean for Daniel Jones and the entire offense as the Giants prepare for the upcoming season.Next, the podcast covers the financial details of Adoree' Jackson's contract, which includes a $1.7 million cap hit but no guaranteed money. With difficult-to-reach bonuses for interceptions and playing time, the Goofballs speculate on Jackson's future with the team and how this contract structure reflects the Giants' plans for their secondary.Joe Schoen also makes headlines for an offhand comment caught on camera during the Bears' Hard Knocks. While watching the Georgia vs. Clemson game with Bears GM Ryan Poles, Schoen slipped up in a lighthearted conversation about quarterbacks, leaving fans curious if he forgot the cameras were rolling. As the Giants prepare to face the Minnesota Vikings, the Goofballs examine key matchups. Daniel Jones will face a revamped Vikings defense featuring veteran corner Stephon Gilmore, who joins the team at 33 years old. Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers will be tested against the seasoned Gilmore in what promises to be an exciting matchup. On the flip side, Giants rookie cornerback Deonte Banks will be up against one of the NFL's elite receivers, Justin Jefferson, who is coming off an incredible season despite a mid-year hamstring injury. Banks, who struggled at times last year, will have his hands full in what may be his toughest challenge yet.The episode also dives into the Giants' strategy to contain Aaron Jones, the Vikings' big offseason signing. While Jones had a slightly down year in 2023, turning 30 soon raises concerns about his longevity. Drew and Rob discuss how the Giants' defense, led by Bobby Okereke and Dexter Lawrence, can slow down Jones, especially with Sam Darnold now under center for Minnesota. On the defensive front, the Goofballs analyze the Vikings' pass rush, which lost key players DJ Wonnum and Danielle Hunter in the offseason. With new additions like Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel, the Vikings' defensive line faces uncertainty. Drew and Rob break down how the Giants' offensive line, anchored by Andrew Thomas, will need to perform against a retooled yet vulnerable Vikings pass rush.Join Drew and Rob as they provide the latest news, updates, and rumors surrounding the New York Giants, from Daboll's play-calling shift to key matchups against the Vikings.
