Drew and Rob weigh the pros and cons of each potential addition, considering factors like age, performance, and fit within the team's blocking scheme. And let's not forget about the coaching factor. For ravers from a certain era, Matt Nelson, or Slipmatt, is a legendary name. As one half of SL2 along partner Lime, he was responsible for creating a handful of the most iconic tunes from the early days of British rave culture - most notably ‘On A ragga Tip' which reached number 2 in the mainstream charts in 1992.In more recent times, however, he has become that rarest of entities - a recognisable name from the scene who has spoken out publicly about the tyrannical and dangerous road down which humanity is headed - if we continue to allow it.Inevitably we begin this chat with a bit of DJ banter, before getting down to what it was that awakened Slipmatt to the fact that all was not well in the world. We also cover the question of just why it is that so few public names - in particular those we have been entrained to think of as “rebels” - have had anything meaningful to say at a time in human history where their input has been needed more than ever.Slipmatt's official website is at: https://www.slipmatt.net/

Can you each tell us a bit about your background, before we dive in?For those not in the DoD or familiar with the term, what is a “Software Factory”?What is BESPIN?What is the current state of mobile security within the DoD?Why do you think there's such a delay in maturing policy, process and pathways for mobile in DoD, given the big emphasis the last several years of “edge”, along with the rapid growth of the remote workforce and so on?Are there any official mobile app sec requirements? Can you tell us a bit about what tools and methodologies you all use to secure the mobile-centric applications you all deliver? Most know that in DoD and Federal there are also a lot of compliance rigor and hurdles to deal with. How has that experience been for a program doing something a bit different from most software factories?Since there are no official mobile requirements you kind of get a second mover advantage, how can you take lessons learned from the Cloud Computing SRGs and apply that to mobile? Can you help our audience understand the importance of secure mobile capabilities for the Airman and warfighter? We know the modern way of fighting looks much different and mobile is a key part of that, whether simply supporting Airman on a form of compute they grew up using, all the way to those on the forward edge, engaging against adversaries, including in the digital domain.

In this episode of Stories from the River, host Charlie Malouf welcomes guest Dr. Timothy Nelson ("Tim") for part one of their three-part series. Charlie and Tim talk about the inspiring journey of establishing HeartWorks, a non-profit organization aiming to revolutionize the treatment of and cure congenital heart disease (CHD). Dr. Timothy Nelson, the Founder and CEO of HeartWorks, details the collaborative network created with eleven pediatric hospitals to combat the rarity and complexity of CHD. This network operates on a groundbreaking hybrid model that mixes non-profit philanthropy with for-profit commercial ventures for financial sustainability. With a focus on a "Team of Teams" approach encompassing basic researchers, manufacturing, clinical trials, and marketing teams, HeartWorks embraces internal tension as a catalyst for innovative solutions. Tim stresses the importance of keeping the true purpose — curing CHD and enriching the lives of affected children and adults — at the heart of the organization's mission and vision. The conversation further explores Tim's personal connection to the cause, rooted in his upbringing in Wisconsin, and a transformative experience following a successful heart surgery that led him to a career in stem cell research and cardiology. After securing a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant for this groundbreaking technology that converts a patient's skin cells into functioning heart tissue, Tim envisions broad applications, including treating patients with congenital heart defects. This ultimately led to discussions with the Wanek family and the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Nelson also highlights the Wanek family's role as major benefactors of the hypoplastic left heart syndrome program at Mayo Clinic through the Todd and Karen Wanek Family Program for Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Tim discusses the purpose behind the creation of ReGen Theranostics, a for-profit company started in 2010 aimed at commercializing and manufacturing this game-changing technology. With ReGen becoming the world's largest stem cell repository and laying the foundation for HeartWorks, Tim's story and the HeartWorks story is a testament to the power of vision, collaboration, and persistent dedication. Tim shares his personal background including his early influence and mentorship from his grandfather Noble Kleven, the former sheriff of Trempeauleau County. And he discusses the benefits of working closely with his best friend and older brother Matt Nelson, who serves as the President and oversees operations for HeartWorks and ReGen Theranostics. Are you following your plan for your life or God's plan for your life? In this episode, Jeff and Matt discuss: Seeing God's hand in the faith-building times of our lives. Getting equipped through God's callings. Generosity and culture in your professional life. Maintaining a learning disposition. Key Takeaways: God will provide and He will always take care of us. Build teams that recognize the power of the team and all that you can accomplish when working together. There is power in recognizing we are all sinful creatures and are working together to better ourselves. God is a Big God. He has shown that we can trust Him, even if it means we must reinvent ourselves and follow His plan, not our own. "In a sinful world, as humans, it's so easy for us to fall into behaviors where we self-promote, and we self-protect. And when that kind of attitude shows up on a team, it's deadly. And one of the things that I'm trying to do inside of our culture is to help people feel safe." — Matt Nelson About Matt Nelson: Matt Nelson has served as the CEO of Pahlisch Homes since 2020, bringing more than 15 years of experience in the residential development and construction industry to the role. Matt finishes off the week teaching on power and authority, defining both and teaching on why both are so important as a Christian. He goes into scripture to reveal how both power and authority have been given to those who believe in Jesus and how to operate in both against the schemes of the enemy.

He explains how injustice is usually the root of strongholds and sin patterns and teaches us to aim for the roots of injustice to experience true freedom. He teaches us how to recognize injustices in our lives and uses the Freedom Manual to create a framework for pulling the root of injustice.

Matt Nelson overviews freedom and teaches on Original Design from the Freedom Manual. He draws our attention to the freedom and deliverance that Jesus brings to us by our identity. It goes against our own perception of freedom that we expect a harsh rebuke or correction and is done in love.
