How to Awaken Your Spiritual Ninja During Quarantine with Janelle Christa The COVID-19 pandemic has forced most of us into loneliness and isolation. It is even harder for people who have no one to be with during this time. Now, we're stuck in our own spaces, trying our hardest to be positive and do things as normally we can. How can mindfulness and meditation play a role in easing our fear and worries amid this crisis? In this episode, Janelle Christa joins us to discuss how we can tap into our emotions and turn into the fundamental things that make us human. She shares how meditation and breathing can make us feel lighter and more at ease. Janelle also talks about energy vampires and social media, which is part of her new book, Spiritual Ninja. If you want to know how you can practice healing and walk the spiritual path, make sure you tune in to the full episode! Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode: Discover how you can go through your spiritual journey amid the quarantine period. What exactly is an energy vampire, and how do they take energy from you? How does Janelle feel radically loved? Find out toward the end of the episode. Resources Spiritual Ninja by Janelle Christa Janelle Christa’s Courses and Coaching FREE meditation ebook!Create a daily meditation ritual in just seven days! Download BUILD YOUR DAILY MEDITATION RITUAL and other freebies atcom! Episode Highlights Janelle’s Passion The thing she’s always 100% most excited about is healing. Being a single mom, she turned to healing and eventually turned to helping other people awaken to that journey. She channels healing through writing, filmmaking, courses, and retreats. The Biggest Obstacle in Quarantine It’s the mystery of the unknown of how long this is going to last. Everybody likes to have control of their lives and schedules. These limiting energies come out as blame, rage, and anger. It can be transitional and helpful, but when we are locked into them, it can feel hopeless. Because the pandemic is happening on a global scale, it brings people together. Advice for People Going Through Their Spiritual Journey During This Time Step into what makes you human and allows the full kaleidoscope of emotions within you. Allow yourself to tap into these emotions, but don’t go so deep into them. Just be aware of them. Practicing mindfulness amid a crisis or loneliness can be difficult. But it's essential to go into the foundations that make us human and turn to them as much as we can. The easiest way to tap into these elements is through breathing. Easing the Feeling of Inertia and Heaviness It’s all about baby steps. Be gentle and patient with yourself. Go in meditation and close your eyes. Imagine putting a bubble around you and calling in a form that can be your shield and protector. Cut the barrier between you and the rest of the world. Take away the energy that doesn’t belong, and you’re going to feel lighter. How to Avoid Energy Vampires on Social Media A lot of times, we paint energy vampires as toxic people. Some energy vampires are just jealous or envious, but there are also people who see the light in you and try to grab hold of that. When a person's energy is sucked, they may feel like they need to give their energy away because they unconsciously remember someone they need to please. When you start to recognize that in yourself, it will be empowering. Try to see the other person as another human who's just looking for a connection. Mindfulness in Using Social Media Be aware of the unseen elements that create negative energies on social media. Janelle says that it’s valuable to put a shield around you before you get on social media. Even though we are interacting on social media from across the world, we're all connected because we’re all made of energy. Janelle’s Overall Relationship with Social Media as a Spiritual Leader She has a natural desire to challenge people and shake their beliefs. Janelle thinks that the key to using social media is having limits. Janelle’s Definition of Freedom Freedom for Janelle is being able to express yourself freely, to have whatever type of relationship, and freedom from negative ego. She believes that the biggest problem in our entire world is superiority. Superiority keeps us so separate from each other. 5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode “If all you can do one day is you get up and you eat, and you do the dishes, and that's like the gist of it, okay. Great. At least you did that.” “Create a healthy boundary to create a healthy connection with that person.” “You don't want your self-esteem to get wrapped around if people are liking your stuff or not. There’s so much different things that can get pulled into that. We have to just be honest and real; we do have feeling.” “Freedom from superiority—I feel like that is freedom really, where you’d just be in union. You can see one another as equal, not less than, not more than.” “I feel radically loved when I forgive myself. Maybe I don’t forgive myself or others for what they did, but I can forgive them for why they did it.” About Janelle Janelle Christa is an intuitive healer and spiritual guide, an author, producer, and filmmaker. Being Mindful & Compassionate Despite Any Circumstances with Anne Alexander There is a cultural shift happening in our midst. Despite the changes in engagements caused by the pandemic, we have also never been this connected by technology. Not only are we confronted by the COVID-19 pandemic, but movements also arise that call for people to take a stand and express their opinions. We can see different ideas and perspectives, which, most of the time, can create a divide among us despite being interconnected and having shared responsibility. In today’s episode, Anne Alexander shares with us how to be mindful in these extraordinary times. She talks about how to engage and be compassionate with others who do not share the same perspective with us. Anne also discussed the advantages and disadvantages of cancel culture and its healthy boundaries. If you want to practice mindfulness and foster more meaningful relationships, tune in to this episode. Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode: Discover different ways of how you can practice mindfulness. Learn the importance of compassion and patience in being mindful, especially in your relationships. Find out how Anne practices mindfulness in her personal life. Resources Mindful website FREE workbook! Apply the lessons you learn from this episode as you listen! Enter your email below, and I’ll send it right away! Episode Highlights Living in Extraordinary Times We live amid the pandemic, and yet we can sense the people's mindfulness in different situations around us. Anne shares that she had the opportunity to learn from other mindfulness teachers about the Black Lives Matter movement. She wishes to be able to communicate what she learned to other people. There is so much we need to listen to, and there is a lot of pain and injustice. Our society has shifted extraordinarily in a short period. For example, we can see different age groups and different ethnicities supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. We are amid so many shifts and an increasing sense of shared responsibility. Being Open to Dialogue Most of the time, it is difficult to have your point of view and hold somebody else’s point of view with grace. To be able to communicate, you need emotional empathy regardless of who you are and what you believe in. You can engage in a real dialogue when you come from a place of genuine respect and true recognition. We are living in a world with sharp edges, grit, difficulty, and pain. The trick is to have a sense of equanimity and respect. The Importance of Patience The people closest to us can be the hardest people to change because there is so much history. You can start with the patience of accepting the first goal, which is to find moments of togetherness and be in a room with someone who has a different point of view. The divide amongst people is not just something you can dispense within a conversation. However, patience and mindfulness allow us to see each other across tremendous divides. Hate and Judgment When we see irritating posts on social media and want to say something about it, you are just perpetuating hate. Do not let your anger irritate your social world. Hate does not solve the problem. We need to be more mindful of our intentions. Ashumans, we have flaws and are capable of saying stupid things. Can we show other people the understanding, grace, and generosity we give ourselves when we make mistakes? Cancel Culture Context is often lost in cancel culture. The hard work is in having hard conversations. Cancel culture also has a plus side. It can be an excellent way to support companies that are on the right side and withdraw support for those whose stand you do not support. We create change with our actions. However, cancel culture can be short-sighted. It doesn’t solve anything if you simply say, “Oh, that was a stupid thing. Therefore, I'm not going to talk to that person anymore.” 5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode “The reality is we’re living in a world with sharp edges and grit and difficulty and pain and passion, confusion, and all of that stuff. And the real trick is to be able to have that sense of equanimity and respect.” “Now is the time to be able to come to a place to be able to keep our own energy levels high enough that we can listen and we can be there. We can mediate, and we can try to absorb things, even if we don't understand things.” “Part of what is extraordinary, if you will, about mindfulness or being mindful is the ability also to see reality as it is.” “Perhaps the first goal was just to find those moments of togetherness and to re-establish that beautiful fluid bond. The patience may take a long time to get to the place where that conversation can really happen.” “The hard work is having hard conversations, and that takes a tremendous amount of commitment.” About Anne Anne Alexander is the editor of Mindful.org, a non-profit organization. They aim to inspire, guide, and connect anyone who wants to explore mindfulness to enjoy better health, nurture relationships, and have a more compassionate society. Resources Kenshō Health website FREE meditation ebook!Create a daily meditation ritual in just seven days! Download BUILD YOUR DAILY MEDITATION RITUAL and other freebies atcom! Episode Highlights A Platform for Everybody Kenshō is the first science-backed holistic health platform. People come to find two things: the very best holistic health providers across the country and reliable, science-based answers and information. The idea is to provide people with holistic health solutions that will work for them, with the tech boom and interest in holistic health in mind. They utilize the largest and oldest scientific publisher in the world that provides open-source information and research they've been aggregating for over 200 years. Their goal in Kenshō is to make health care accessible and easy to understand for everyone. Krista’s Life She grew up in Oregon. Her parents were both naturalists and explorers. She has always had a deep connection with the natural. Her parents raised her to focus on understanding her connection with nature and look at life holistically. The household she grew up with wasn’t focused on stability and maintaining the conventional systems of a family. She took the waves that it brought internally. At a certain point in her life, that translated into a desire for healthier relationships. Opening the Door to Holistic Health To find the support she needs, she asks herself, “Where could I grow?” and “What would help me?” Conventional medicine didn’t mirror the wisdom she knew from her upbringing. She spent ten years trying to get out of that. She was “super successful in the technology world,” having worked at Deutsche Telekom and Microsoft. But at 28, she was hospitalized. She started working with conventional doctors, but they didn't make any progress. It was a chronic condition that had her taking prednisone every single day and a cortisol steroid dosage every month. And she knew that there had to be a different way. The Lessons in our Lives We all have those teachers in our lives, such as the losses and heartbreaks that stick with us and have a rapid transformational quality. In the ten years Krista spent getting out of conventional medicine, she reached a resounding conclusion: you can’t found a company that will make the world a healthy place unless you know it's not healthy for everyone. The holistic view of health, mind, body, and spirit is so much more than conventional medicine. Expecting to Get Healthy Overnight We were taught that when something is wrong, taking something will suppress that symptom. Some pharmaceuticals treat acute symptoms but fail to address the root symptom. They create this relationship with the body where you're telling yourself that you need to fix it instantly. Krista’s Biggest Lesson When something shows up, the symptom is a symptom. It’s not the thing; it’s the thing below these. She looks at what's causing that symptom and what's going on in her life. It comes with the recognition that you may be creating the stress with your habits and that you have to remove those. The Power of Slowing Down She was living in three places—Portland, Austin, and New York—and they sold her last company in Spain. Along with this expansion, she had to take several international long-haul flights a year. She took a one-way trip to the Galapagos Islands with the sole mission of slowing down. Living in the Shimano community was the first time she spent her nights in the same place for 21 days in years. Constantly moving is not our natural state as people. The moment she removed all that, she got better. The Cosmic Wisdom of Life If your body doesn’t get lit up by the idea of doing something, it’s not something that’s keeping you alive longer. The body only has so much energy. Decision fatigue is real fatigue. We have to remind ourselves of the cosmic wisdom of slowness and doing less. Kenshō and Holistic Health There are 500,000 holistic health providers in the country that's equal to the size of the conventional medical system. But navigating that can feel challenging. They created Kenshō to help people find an answer and support them if they need it. 5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode “It’s passive because we're young when that starts. We're taught when something's wrong, take something to suppress that symptom, and then you're done.” “I remember him being like, ‘Just slow down and remember who the fuck you are.’” “We do it because we have this hero complex that's been projected on us by society because someone somewhere told us that struggle makes us stronger.” “You have to find that humor in the challenge but not absorb that challenge and think of it as like your muscle and life. Life should feel easy amidst the challenge.” On being radically loved: “It comes from the inside. And it is like that nurturing and loving energy that's just my own.” About Krista     Krista Berlincourt is the CEO and co-founder of Kenshō Health, the first science-backed holistic health discovery platform, and provider network.
