Have you ever struggled to lead effectively when either growing and/or managing a large team? Is it hard for you to delegate tasks to your team, because you'd rather have control over the bulk of the material you're responsible for? This episode starts season 10 of the Christian Woman Business Podcast. Thank you so much for being with me up to this point! Since I recently moved and have taken a full-time job (read about this on Instagram), I am not going to be creating new content for this show for the next few months. So, for the duration of season 10, I've selected some of the best business focused episodes from my other show, the Christian Woman Leadership Podcast, to share with you! In episode 115 of the podcast, you'll hear a conversation I shared with Simple Pin Media Owner and Founder Kate Ahl, who shares how she has grown her business substantially over the years while learning how to let go of control, and delegating tasks to her team. She shares tips on how to let go of that control, how to help your team members work in their strengths, and how to stay in your own lane rather than falling into the comparison trap. Do you feel tied down in your 1:1 client work? Do you ever feel burnt out on your work time, and wish you had more time freedom? Does your work ever feel a little monotonous? Maybe you're feeling the strain of the 1:1 client work you've been doing for a few years. You might know that you eventually want to be doing more teaching and coaching rather than implementing. Or your calendar is filling up with 1:1 coaching clients and you'd really like to have more time freedom. It could be that launching a group program would be a good fit for you. It might, as we talked about last week, help you to increase your income without burning out. But why a group coaching program? Why not something else, like a course or digital products? In episode 106 of the Christian Woman Business Podcast, I'm sharing with you the 6 Benefits of Moving from 1:1 Work to Group Work. E64: Is Stepping Away from Social Media the Right Decision for You?

Just One Simple Thing

There is a lot of talk going around right now about stepping away from social media, either for an extended break, or for good. Is that the right decision for you and your ministry or business? In Episode 64 of Just One Simple Thing, you'll learn four things to consider as you make that decision, and a special word of encouragement for those who feel the Lord leading them to stay on social media.Today's episode is inspired by what's been happening over in my Instagram stories. If you have been following me there @doanewthing, you may have seen me sharing about a podcast episode from my friend Esther Littlefield. In Episode 80 of the Christian Woman Business Podcast, Esther answered a question that's been circulating among Christian business and ministry leaders for a while, but really amped up in recent weeks. “Can You Grow A Business Without Social Media? (And if so, should you?)”As our world grows more divided and volatile, and the words used on social media become more harsh (even among Christians), more and more people are asking themselves (and God) if they should stay online or go.There are four reasons that I hear (or feel) most often. The barrage of information and harsh opinions triggers anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues.  If you need to step away in order to support your mental health, then by all means, do so. But first, you may want to try some of the apps or browser extensions that help you manage your news feed if that's what is affecting you.Overwhelmed by the pressure to show up all the time to engage and constantly create new posts, reels, and videos. It can definitely eat up a ton of time and energy.   Keep in mind that YOU decide how often and what you post. Take in the expert advice, and then do what fits in YOUR life, for YOUR business, and for YOUR audience.A prompting from God for rest and obedience. Sometimes God calls us away from what we are doing so we can quiet all the noise and hear more clearly from him. You've been influenced by the influencers.  When we see other people we love and respect making this decision for their business or ministry, we can feel guilty about staying. We feel less spiritually mature, or not as close to God. If you've settled this between you and the Lord ... if you feel like social media is where God wants you to show up and serve people with your gift, to connect with people you can help, then you don't have to feel bad about that at all.ACTION STEPThe most important action we can take on this topic is to pray. Spend some time with the Lord and allow him to examine your relationship with social media. Do you need to make some adjustments? Incorporate some tools or processes that make it a healthy place to show up? Or is it time to take a break and build your business or ministry in a different way?RESOURCESEpisode 80 of the Christian Woman Business Podcast: Can You Grow a Business Without Social Media? Unless you've been hiding under a rock, you know that the big talk in the podcasting world is about the Spotify / Joe Rogan controversy. Musicians and some podcasters are removing their content from the platform because of misinformation and racially inflammatory language on his hugely successful podcast. And the debate is now filtering down to independent podcasters and guests. With that in mind, this is less of our usual "How to…" episode and more of a "How do…" episode - as in, how do we choose guesting opportunities (and guests) that align with our values? Walking through these matters with me is Esther Littlefield, a marketing strategist & business coach, and the host of the award-winning Christian Woman Leadership Podcast and Christian Woman Business Podcast. Esther is passionate about helping clients cut through the confusion and find clarity, so I thought she'd be the perfect person to join me on a deep dive through all of these issues! Just One Simple Thing

One of the biggest mistakes I see people make when they have something to offer is a lack of having a launch plan. You may think you can create something cool, and then just flip on the switch, and people will come. Unfortunately, that is not the way it happens. In fact, if all you do is flip the switch I can guarantee that your launch is going to flop. In Episode 17 of Just One Simple thing, I'll share how to keep your launch from flopping by having a launch plan.Whether it's a launch for a new product, service, or course, there is one thing all launches have in common: They can flop if you haven't properly prepared for them.Successful launches don't just happen. They require 2 big components to really be effective:A Marketing Strategy AND a Launch Plan.Let's start by looking at the greatest launch plan ever created … the one that Jesus gave the disciples and early church to spread the gospel. In Acts 1, before he ascended to heaven, Jesus ordered the disciples to stay in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit came to equip them. You need a launch plan because:A time of preparing and equipping before you send out what you created helps you reach as many people as possible.Having a structured launch plan allows you to better manage your time.Your launch plan will identify in advance the resources you need to successfully carry out your launch.Having a launch plan helps you get over the bumps that come with every launch. So now that you are convinced you to need a launch plan, what does one look like? A launch plan is simply having an intentional and focused way to put your amazing creation out into the world. It involves a sequence of activities aimed at educating your audience and helping them decide if your offer is right for them.A launch has a specific beginning and an ending. And there is no “one-size-fits-all” launch plan. You'll create a plan that is fit for the purpose of your offer and what you are able to put into it.Your timeline will vary, but here are some general timing guidelines:The preparation period happens long before you start talking about your new product.  4–6 weeks before the actual launch or open cart. The prelaunch period, where you are educating your audience and creating interest. Can be 2–4 weeks long. For a typical online event (like a masterclass, webinar, or short online retreat), the open cart period will be one to two weeks before the event. For a course, membership, or one-time purchase, the open cart is typically 4–7 days. For something evergreen in nature, like a book, a new podcast, or a journal, the launch promotion period can be 2–3 weeks.Combining the preparation, prelaunch, launch, and open cart periods, your total launch plan may cover up to 8 or 10 weeks. You can see why it is important to start thinking about your launch plan long before you are ready to offer your new thing to the world.ACTION STEP:I told you that your launch needs both a plan and a strategy. My friend Esther Littlefield is sharing what a launch strategy is and why you need one on her Christian Woman Business Podcast, so head over there and listen to Episode 46. If you are planning to launch something soon, come join my free Facebook group Plan & Pray with Do A New Thing and tell us about it.++++++++++Are you tired from trying to share your God-inspired message while working your full time job? What does it mean to have a ‘Biblical mindset’ and why is this vital for Christian leaders and business owners? And how can we discern between true Biblical mindset approaches vs. those that sound spiritual but may not align with God’s word?  In this conversation, I’m talking with messaging strategist & Biblical mindset coach Veronica Hoddenbagh. You’ll hear what this term ‘biblical mindset’ means and why it’s so important for Christian leaders. In addition, Veronica shares about a dark time in her life and how that led her to being passionate about this topic. We also dive into whether or not we should use affirmations as Christians, and what a Biblical view of mindset blocks or limiting beliefs looks like. 3 Ways to Incorporate Faith in Your Business [Ep. 6]

The Christian Woman Business Podcast

Have you ever struggled with how to incorporate your faith into your business? There's often a tension here for Christian business owners: we want to be open about our faith and shine the light of Jesus into a dark world, but we also want to serve our clients and customers well without turning people off.   What's the best way to do this, and is there one “right” way?   In this episode of the Christian Woman Business Podcast, I'm sharing my thoughts about 3 different ways you can incorporate your faith into your business.   The 3 ways you can incorporate your faith in your business are: Your audience/clients/customers  Your business offers (content or services) You as the business owner   Your Audience or Your Clients/Customers It's vital as a business owner for you to determine who your ideal audience or ideal client/customer is. One factor you may want to consider in this description is whether or not you are trying to reach people of the Christian faith.    You might decide that no, you don't want to target a specifically Christian audience. Or, you may determine that while a shared faith is not necessary, you do want values to be aligned. Or, you may choose to focus primarily on a Christian audience.   Your Business Offers When it come to what your business offers, it can look a couple ways: The message or services of your business might be something that can help anyone OR your message or services might be specifically a faith-based message   This is a very personal decision, and you need to determine what is right for you. In many cases, I believe you can be very effective in your business by offering a service or product or content without it being explicitly faith based.    For example, someone selling website design or accounting services may not want or need to have their message include faith.   However, someone who is talking about marriage and relationships may want to include faith in their message, especially if they are talking about ways to keep a marriage strong and healthy.   You as the Business Owner No matter whether your audience is faith-based or your message is faith-based, I believe that YOU have the ability to shine your light as a believer in Christ no matter what you do or who you serve.   As the business owner or content creator, you can shine the light of Jesus in several ways. Integrity in how you run your business.  The way you treat your clients and customers.  By not hiding your faith.  The way you interact online.    I know a lot of really amazing Christian business owners and content creators. They all handle the connection between their faith and business slightly differently.    I have some great friends who are out there proclaiming a very faith-based message to a faith-based audience. And I have other friends who are serving their clients or audience faithfully by providing excellent content and services, but not explicitly talking about their faith all the time.   And both ends of the spectrum, I believe, are still bringing glory and honor to God.    What's important is that you are following God's leading in this area and seeking him for the ways you want to go about this.   Resources or Links Mentioned: The Ops Authority Episode 4.
