The Rugby World Cup is underway. From when William Webb Ellis first picked up and ran with a football in 1823 and the sport of Rugby was born, to now, and the playing for the trophy in his name. Alix Popham proudly represented Wales at two World Cups, including the last time it was held in France. Undoubtedly the pinnacle of any sporting career with memories to last a life time. Sadly not for Alix... Because now, aged just 43, he lives with early-on-set dementiaWhen Arcangelo crossed the line first in the Belmont Stakes earlier this year, it was a hugely significant moment in horse racing. The first time a triple crown race - one of the most prestigious in the sport - had been won by a female trainer. Jena Antonucci is her name and as Arcangelo approached the finish line her excitement could be heard by all those around her. What did you do last weekend? Watched some TV? Go out shopping? Maybe a stroll in the country?! Well that's just not enough for some people... Particularly ultra endurance marathon runners! People like Jon Albon. Jon spent last weekend winning the 100 kilometre Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix, known as the "CCC". He's now won two of the three races that make up the infamous "Ultra-Trail Mont Blanc"... So when in a 100km race dose it begin to hurt!? The US Open will crowns it's champions this weekend. Men's finalist Danill Medvedev said earlier in week he feared "one player is going to die" because of the extreme heat. Meanwhile home favourite and women's finalist Coco Gauff had her semi final victory interrupted for nearly an hour by environmental protesters. Well someone who has long spoken out about the damage to sport climate change is reeking is New Zealand player Marcus Daniell. A member of the EcoAthletes, a collective of likeminded sport stars, he has been telling about the climate and his other off court activities, but also about what it's like to experience that winning moment. In Tokyo last year he doubles partner Michael Venus picked up Olympic bronze for New Zealand... So how did they handle that moment? Some sink to the court on their knees, others straight to the net for the hand shake and a reserved fist bump. For others... you're a blubbering wreck... Like Marcus Daniell did. As you'll hear the two men had very different reactions to their moment of victory!Image: Alix Popham (C) of Wales celebrates as the final whistle blows during the RBS Six Nations Championship match between England and Wales at Twickenham on February 2, 2008 in London, England. Patrick talks politics with tennis fan and former Communications Director for the RNC Doug Heye. How does Doug size up the current political climate, and does he see another Biden/Trump matchup in the next Presidential Election?A veteran of politics since 1990, Doug has served in leading communications positions in the House of Representatives and United States Senate, the Republican National Committee, as well as serving in the George W. Bush Administration. Heye most recently served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications for House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, where he garnered on the record bi-partisan praise for his team-building, communications and strategic planning abilities. Upon Heye's arrival in the Capitol in 2012, Roll Call quickly named Heye one of their “Fabulous 50,” noting Heye's ability to “set the tone and frame the debate” as someone “in the room when decisions are made.” In 2010, Heye served as communications director of the Republican National Committee. During these historic elections, Heye excelled in his handling of multiple large-scale public relations crises and pursuing an aggressive media strategy. Upon announcing his departure from the committee, Heye won unanimous, bi-partisan praise for his performance, being called a “pro's pro” in POLITICO by his counterpart at the Democratic National Committee for his handling of what CNN labeled “one of the most demanding jobs in Washington.”Heye is a sought-after commenter on political events and public policy, making more than two hundred appearances on national and international television networks, leading POLITICO to write in 2011, “when the red camera light turns on, Heye doesn't disappoint.” He has written for many publications, including U.S. News & World Report, POLITICO, The Hill and Capitol File magazine.

His matches against the world's top 2 players and GOAT candidates were arguably the best ones of the tournament. The future of these players is interesting: where we would normally have gotten a Djokovic vs Nadal final, we got a Medvedev vs Thiem, as both of them beat the Big 3 members in the semis. What will happen in the next slams? Do these results mean something or are they just hiccoughs? Plus, we have a great announcement in this episode! Gill Gross from Monday Match Analysis joins Vansh and Andre for a discussion on the Alexander Zverev's accusation of domestic violence by ex girlfriend Olya Sharypova. We talked about his cavalier attitude and statements regarding the allegations, the awkward silence from the tennis biggest organizations (mainly the ATP) and our own views on the subject.  We also spent some time talking a bit about the actual tennis played during the Paris Masters 1000, last tournament of the year before the ATP Finals. Zverev is, quite surprisingly, playing awfully well and was downed by surprising titlist Danill Medvedev, who has not enjoyed a great year compared to his stellar 2019. What do you think about all this? Should Zverev be able to play tournaments? Should the ATP conduct an independent investigation?
