Brits, over and out. It's been another thrilling last couple of days at Roland Garros so why not join Joel and Kim as they take stock on all the Round 4 action in Paris. Jack Draper fell to a red-hot drop shotting maestro Alexander Bublik to bring his campaign to an abrupt end whilst Cam Norrie failed to match his Geneva performance with a straight sets defeat to Novak Djokovic who won his 100th (!) singles match at the French Open.Elsewhere, Iga Swiatek brought herself back from the brink with a hard thought three set win over Elenea Rybakina. Does it prove she is still the Queen of Clay or are there bigger tests to come? And in one of the stories so far, French wildcard No. 361 ranked Lois Boisson pulled off a stunning upset over Jessica Pegula to book her spot in the quarterfinals versus Mirra Andreeva. Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka also cruised through once again without dropping a set. Joel and Kim also give a midway Collect a Set update and it's a historic moment but not for the right reasons…PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you're serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. Week 2 at Roland Garros is here, and Tennis Weekly has everything you need to get caught up ahead of the action in Paris. On the men's side, Jack Draper dismantled rising star João Fonseca to join fellow Brit Cam Norrie against a backdrop of PSG football fireworks in the last 16, while Djokovic, Sinner, and Zverev cruise through — and Carlos Alcaraz survived another mid match hiccup to win through. In the women's draw, Elena Rybakina routed Jelena Ostapenko to set up a mouthwatering showdown with Iga Swiatek, and for the first time in decades, all top 8 seeds remain in contention heading into Week 2. It was also a historic occasion for Team USA as they had 8 players into Round 4 of Roland Garros for the first time in forty years. Plus, Chris returns from Paris, with plenty of stories from the clay to share including Amalie Mauresmo's comments on the continued absence of women from the night session.PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you're serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. Draper keeps delivering, French Open crowd debate + Night Session gender question returns

Bonjour from Roland-Garros, well we should say the Jardin du Luxembourg for a special edition of Tennis Weekly Journal as Alina and Chris have ventured into the city and found the local tennis courts. On today's episode they cover the epic match between Gael Monfils and Jack Draper that lit up the Night session and Philippe-Chatrier in one of the matches of the tournament. They debate the French Open crowd, asking if they go too far after they helped a clearly injured Arthur Fils hobble over the line against an increasingly irritated Jaume Munar on Court Suzanne Lenglen. Would he have won without the crowd? Alina doesn't think so and neither does Arthur. As well as the on court action, the Night Session being exclusively reserved for Men's matches has become a hot topic once again. Will there ever be a solution and can a solution be found whilst the Prime tennis contract exists in France? Alina and Chris try to provide some context on the increasingly repetitive and polarising topic as it isn't as simple as scheduling a women's match in the night session slot.As well as the more thought provoking topics, in true Tennis Weekly Journal style there is fun to be had as Alina and Chris recount their galette experience at lunch and the debate is settled, in future it's sugar and butter for them!PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you're serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. The gang's all here! Joel, Kim and Chris return to serve up all the drama from Round 2 of Roland-Garros 2025 — and what a rollercoaster it's been! It was heartbreak for the British women as all three bowed out, but there's still hope on the men's side with a surprise all-Brit clash now set between Fearnley and Norrie. Meanwhile, Jack Draper lit up the Parisian night in a sizzling showdown with crowd-favourite Gael Monfils — and did his best to dodge a 5th set thriller!Emotions ran high as French maestro Richard Gasquet bid adieu to the sport on Court Philippe-Chatrier, falling to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. We look back at his fabulous career (and that oh-so-silky one-handed backhand!). Elsewhere, big names like Djokovic and Alcaraz powered on, while seeds Tsitsipas, Ruud, de Minaur, and Mensik suffered surprise exits. While British women are out — with Raducanu falling to queen of clay Iga Swiatek — the American charge is alive and swinging, with Gauff, Keys, and Kenin all cruising through (rackets in hand this time!). Italians Flavio Cobolli and Luciano Darderi also reversed their fortunes and won ATP 250 titles, whilst Camila Osorio defended her Bogota title on home turf at an event Joel questions whether should even exist in the first place. The duo also discuss the use of electronic line calling with Hawkeye on clay courts, upcoming development changes to Henman Hill for the 2027 Championships at Wimbledon, and recent calls for increased Grand Slam prize money from the ATP/WTA Top 20 players. Sabalenka wins Miami as the Sunshine Swing ends with a downpour for Novak Djokovic as he lost out to 19 year old Jakob Mensik in straight sets. The title was Sabalenka's first since that heartbreaking loss in the final of the Australian Open to Madison Keys and with it she cements her place a the top of the world rankings by opening up a 3000 point lead over No.2 Iga Swiatek. Swiatek went out to WC Alexandra Eala in another early shock loss for the former World No.1 and Joel, Kim and Chris question is it time for her to switch up her coach after not winning a title since Roland Garros last year?Elsewhere Djokovic declared his Miami form to be the best he had played since the Olympics where he won the gold medal, it wasn't enough for him to win the title in Miami but it did prove that the Murray partnership is on an upward trajectory. There is a 2010s themed mailbag that puts Kim and Chris to the test and Joel talks his anguish when Tim Henman used to face off against Andy Murray in a ‘favourite vs favourite' mailbag! They also preview the return to clay as Charleston gets under way and a number of 250s on the ATP Tour before the Monte Carlo Masters begins the clay court season proper next week.Roland-Garros Hospitality with Sports, Travel and Hospitality GroupTo guarantee the best seats in the house with ticket-inclusive official hospitality, visit https://bit.ly/4j6RYBzSOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. Join Joel, Kim and Chris as they get giddy with excitement over how the Brit secured the biggest title of his career to date whilst moving into the Top 10 rankings for the first time, in help thanks to a semifinal win over Carlos Alcaraz. Jannik Sinner handed 3 month doping ban by WADA, back in time for Rome and French Open...

In a BREAKING NEWS edition of Tennis Weekly we cover the the latest in the Jannik Sinner doping affair after it was announced that Jannik Sinner has accepted a 3 month ban from WADA for testing positive for colostabol last year. The ban is effective from 9th February meaning he will miss the Sunshine Double but return in time for the French Open and Wimbledon as well as a warm up tournament at home in Rome. The case was set to go to trial on 16th and 17th of April and WADA were pushing for a 1-2 year ban finding Sinner was not at 'no fault or negligence' that his experienced team could have avoided Jannik Sinner being 'contaminated' with colostabol, a steroid, that led to two positive tests last year. Sinner was suspended for a matter of hours and days when both tests came to light and successfully appealed both decisions allowing to complete a full season and win two more Grand Slam titles. Joel and Chris discuss how the case was handled, why the change of heart for WADA as well as why it is possible for players to negotiate a ban that is so favourable to them that causes minimal disruption to their schedule and ranking. He was suffering from the same muscle tear that affected him in his quarterfinal win over Carlos Alcaraz and knew going into the match it was unlikely he would be able to finish it. Despite his best efforts on court the Australian crowd booed off their 10 time champion and 24 time grand slam champion for cutting short their afternoon of tennis which reflected badly on the tournament and the aussie fans. The Australian Open has begun and boy has it been a dramatic star down under! Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev scrape past Wild Cards to make the second round. This marks the first win for Novak Djokovic with new coach Sir Andy Murray in his box. The team got the win but it was't pretty or easy for the GOAT of tennis and his former nemesis. Elsewhere there was an EMPHATIC win for teenage sensation and ATP Next Gen Finals winner, 18 year old Joao Fonseca as he ousted Andrey Rublev in straight sets. Will he be the next Gustavo Kuerten? Joining Rublev crashing out of the AO2025 were Stefanos Tsitsipas, Grigor Dimitrov. It wasn't just the young guns that had success Gael Monfils and Kei Nishikori rolled back the years to win in 5 sets and both are in the mid to late 30s, proving there is life in the old dogs yet! On the women's side the top seeds were serene in their progress. Two time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka cruised past grand slam champion Sloane Stephens and Coco Gauff matched her effort in downing former champ Sofia Kenin in R1. Other notable wins came from Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek who won in straight sets to move through to round 2.
