Barstool Hubbs is back on the podcast to recap a wild first round at Wimbledon, where seeds fell left and right in both the men's and women's draws. Hubbs reacts to the shocking upsets that sent Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula packing, and explains what's wrong with Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev as they crash out as well. The guys dive into Carlos Alcaraz's tricky first round match, Novak Djokovic's path to another major title, and why Taylor Fritz and the other American men remaining can be dangerous going forward. Hubbs also assesses the women's draw, which features Aryna Sabalenka as the favorite in a tricky section. The fellas discuss Amanda Anisimova's potential, Iga Swiatek's improved form, and debate whether Mirra Andreeva or past champions Elena Rybakina and Marketa Vondrousova can find a way to advance deep at The All-England Club. Hosted by Mitch Michals.
It's been another long, hot day at Wimbledon with the fans on Centre Court and No. 1 Court. Join Joel and Kim as they discuss Sinner opening with some serious serving stats whilst Draper made light work of Baez who still hasn't won a tour level grass match since Eastbourne 2023. They also get to the bottom of the beef that broke Round 1 between Fritz and Perricard and just why their match was stopped last night and whether that was the right decision. However the seed exodus continued with last year's semifinalist Lorenzo Musetti and Halle champ Alexander Bublik suffering surprise defeats along with Alexander Zverev whose poor showings at Wimbledon continues. On the women's side, French Open champion Coco Gauff suffered another early exit at the hands of dangerous Dayan Yastremska. Defending champion Barbora Krejickova overcame a slow start against up and coming Alexandra Eala in three sets but two-time former champion Petra Kvitova made her final Wimbledon bow in defeat to Emma Navarro. It wasn't all smooth sailing for the Americans as recent Bad Homburg champion (and avid Call of Duty gamer) Jessica Pegula was dismissed along with Queen's semi finalist Qinwen Zheng. They also unveil the gang's Collect a Set predictions for the tournament and look ahead to Day 3 with Carlos Alcaraz returning against Britain's newest surprise package Oliver Tarvet.BABOLATBabolat are an official partner of Wimbledon and their Wimbledon collaboration collection is available to purchase now from babolat.com SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. George Bellshaw has survived his bike ride and James Gray has survived the first round, so they've got their microphones together to discuss it all. Shock Exit for Coco Gauff: The biggest upset of the tournament saw French Open champion and No 2 seed Coco Gauff knocked out in the first round by Dayana Yastremska. Gauff struggled with her serve, recording nine double faults in a straight-sets defeat, making her only the third woman in the Open Era to lose in the first round of Wimbledon after winning Roland Garros. Top Seeds Continue to Tumble in Women's Draw: Beyond Gauff, the women's draw saw two more high-profile exits. No 5 seed Zheng Qinwen lost in the first round for the third consecutive Wimbledon, falling to Katerina Siniakova, while No 3 seed Jessica Pegula was also upset in straight sets by Elisabetta Cocciaretto, marking her earliest Grand Slam exit in five years. Zverev's Unexpected First-Round Loss: On the men's side, third seed Alexander Zverev suffered a surprising five-set defeat to Arthur Rinderknech. Zverev expressed feeling "empty" and "struggling mentally" after the match, which was suspended overnight due to Wimbledon's 11pm curfew. Fritz Survives Marathon including Record Serve: Taylor Fritz emerged victorious in a gruelling five-set match against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, which spanned two days due to the curfew. Notably, Mpetshi Perricard hit the fastest serve in Wimbledon history at 153mph during the match, though Fritz managed to win that point. British Hopes Progress to make it 10 in R2: There was mixed news for British players. Jack Draper advanced to the second round after his opponent retired injured, and young Jack Pinnington Jones secured a maiden Grand Slam win. Learn more about your ad choices. It was another sizzling day under the sun at SW19 and it started slowly for us in terms of victories, but we did see the likes of lucky loser Victoria Mboko more than make the most of her opportunity. Hailey Baptiste, the Canadian's next opponent (skull face emoji) also came back from a set down to win on her singles main-draw debut. In the men's draw Ben (10) Shelton secured his first-ever straight-sets win at SW19 while Gael Monfils upset 18th seed Ugo Humbert in a five-set epic – standard La Monf these days. Unlike Day 1, we did have several defeats on Day 2 where the likes of Christopher Eubanks, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Jay Clarke, second seed Coco Gauff, Heather Watson and Taylor Townsend among fell in the first round. Listen out for post-match press snippets from Mboko, Baptiste, Clarke and Gauff. Feeling hot, hot, hot! Wimbledon Day 1 is in the books, so why not join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ to catch up on all the action from an enthralling opening day's play. Carlos Alcaraz had everyone sweating — and not just because of the weather — as he battled through a scratchy five-set win over Italian veteran Fabio Fognini, who hadn't won on the ATP Tour since October. The Brits also had a ball on Day 1, with a record seven players already through to Round 2. This included the top three British women — Raducanu, Boulter, and Kartal — with Boulter and Kartal both upsetting higher-seeded opponents in Badosa and former Grand Slam champion Ostapenko. The fairytale run of Oliver Tarvet continued too, as he set up a blockbuster Round 2 clash with Alcaraz — though he won't be able to keep any of his prize money. There were sad scenes as former finalist Ons Jabeur retired, announcing she would ‘disconnect' from tennis for now. Two-time semifinalist and recent Halle finalist Daniil Medvedev also bowed out unexpectedly. Meanwhile, Sabalenka and Gauff put their recent animosity behind them… with a TikTok dance.

Wimbledon! The Championships are upon once again with a lot to live up to after THAT dramatic finale at Roland Garros. Join the gang at Tennis Weekly HQ as they react to the men's and women's draws, dish out some dodgy predictions and unveil Collect a Set player picks. On the men's side, the question on everyone's lips might be will we get another edition of the Carlos Alcaraz - Jannik Sinner rivalry? Joel's not so sure and whilst Carlitos has been handed a pretty routine draw on paper, Jannik Sinner got some trick battles including a potential all Italian quarterfinal with Lorenzo Musetti, last year's semifinalist. Great British hope Jack Draper also got dealt a nightmarish draw with both his French Open conqueror Alexander Bublik and Queen's conqueror Jakub Mensik in his section along with Novak Djokovic who has been in the last SIX Wimbledon finals. On the women's side, can Aryna Sabalenka finally get over the finish line and win a Grand Slam title this season? In her way is a potential R3 showdown with Britain's Emma Raducanu or former champion Market Vondrousova who got the better of her recently in Berlin. French Open champion Coco Gauff also may have hoped for a kinder draw with a tricky opening against Nottingham finalist Yastremska with Rybakina and Swiatek lurking close by. The team also discuss prize money as Britain's Oliver Tarvet will NOT be allowed to claim his prize money of at least £66,000 due to still being in college in America. Just days after her French Open win, Coco Gauff is here on Nice Talk to discuss all things money, power, and style. Gauff has been a tennis legend nearly her entire life, and now, at 21 years old, she has two Grand Slam championships to her name. But on top of her tennis game, she's also made savvy business moves throughout her career. In fact, she penned a major brand deal with New Balance when she was only 14, and today, she continues to work with the brand on meaningful collabs like the Coco Delray sneaker and the New Balance x Miu Miu With Coco Gauff campaign. On this episode, Gauff discusses how having a life outside of tennis actually makes her a better player, what it meant to her to work with the USTA to update her home courts in Florida, and the other tennis players whose style she loves.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Jimmy and Brett break down an exciting two weeks of tennis on the clay courts of Roland Garros. Coco Gauff comes back from a set down to beat the #1 player in the world Aryna Sabalenka to capture the second major of her career. Iga Swiatek has now not made a final of a tournament in over a year. What does she have to do to turn it around and get back on top where she was for so long? Carlos Alcaraz comes back from two sets and a break down to beat his rival Jannik Sinner in what will go down in history as one of the greatest grand slam matches of all time. Today's word of the day is ‘answer' as in response as in Thunder as in NBA Finals as in Pacers as in SGA. Oklahoma City rolled in Game 2 like everyone thought they would. Heartbreak in Game 1, but this team knows how to respond. How about the NBA putting the logo on the court digitally? Were you a fan of that? (11:00) Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner played one of the best tennis matches you'll ever see in the French Open final. Amazing tennis. What a comeback. Couldn't believe my eyes. On the opposite side we have Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka. Gauff won her second Grand Slam. Sabalenka won the first set and then was outplayed. After the match… sore loser times a million. (30:00) Review: Pee Wee as Himself (34:10) Corbin Burnes is done for the season. Another pitcher needing Tommy John. Here we go again. (44:00) I have never seen what happened to Ryan Weathers happen before. Drilled in the head by a throw to 2nd in a warmup. And he stayed in the game after being flat on the field. What? Are the Marlins serious? (49:00) NPPOD. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Craig and Anthony react to Aryna Sabalenka's post-match comments following her French Open final loss to Coco Gauff. Craig defends Sabalenka's right to express her truth, even if the timing wasn't ideal, while Anthony argues her remarks came off as disrespectful and dismissive of Gauff's hard-fought win. They break down the match, the comments, and whether Sabalenka crossed a line or was simply being candid.

Goodness gracious Gauff! The American has won her first ever Roland Garros title and second overall Grand Slam singles crown with a Parisian rollercoaster of a victory against the World Number 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they reflect on the final in Paris and begin to unpack where the battle was won and lost. The duo talk about those *70* unforced errors that came off the Belarusian's racket and what makes the Gauff match up such a tricky test for her. They question whether Sabalenka needs a better Plan B and whether the pressure of finals is having an impact with now 2 Grand Slam finals defeats in a row leaving her overall record 3-3.As for Coco Gauff, it was cool, calm and composed tennis matched by the American's athleticism that got Joel and Chris really talking about how good she has become in these moments… at just 21 years of age. They look ahead to Wimbledon and debate what each can hope to achieve on the grass courts of SW19 with Gauff's record best a trio of R4 appearances in 2019, 2021 and 2024. They also dish out some Tennis Weekly awards as they reflect on the women's event as a whole including Best Match, Biggest Surprise plus who left a bit of room for improvement.PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you're serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. The return of SINCARAZ! Yes please. Join Joel, Kim and Chris who are back once again at Tennis weekly HQ to round up the semifinals action from Roland Garros 2025. Jannik Sinner was comfortable enough over Novak Djokovic with a clinical straight-sets victory (6-4, 7-5, 7-6), ending the Djokovic bid for a 25th Grand Slam title. With this win, Sinner reaches his first Roland Garros final, where he will face Carlos Alcaraz in a highly anticipated clash of the world's top two ranked players. Alcaraz came through thanks to a retirement from Lorenzo Musetti earlier in the day; a disappointing end to a fantastic clay season for the young Italian. Which the lead the gang to wonder should he have retired or just completed the match?Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka ended Iga Swiatek's reign in Paris with a stunning three-set upset, capped by a dominant 6-0 third set. Swiatek, the four-time Roland Garros champion, couldn't match Sabalenka's relentless aggression as the Belarusian powered her way into the final. Coco Gauff also ended French wildcard Lois Boisson's Cinderella story with a commanding straight-sets win. Gauff's precision and power proved too much for the hometown favourite, and Coco will bid to win her second slam against the World No.1 on Saturday!PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you're serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. Part one - We cover Aryna Sabalenka's 7-6 4-6 6-0 win over Iga Swiatek. Was this a good match? What on earth happened in the final set? And where does Swiatek go from here now her ranking has dropped to No.7 and her streak in Paris is over? Part two (29m26s) - Coco Gauff ended Lois Boisson's remarkable run in Paris with a straightforward victory. Where was this match won and lost? And what does their head-to-head so far tell us about what might happen when Gauff and Sabalenka meet on Saturday? Part three (49m05s) - A round up of some other results from the tournament so far, including a big shock in the women's wheelchair event and mixed doubles success for Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori. Plus, a preview of the men's semi-finals. Does Lorenzo Musetti stand a chance against Carlos Alcaraz? And can Novak Djokovic replicate what he did to Alexander Zverev against Jannik Sinner?Buy tickets for Tennis Podcast Live in London on Thursday 26th June at Shoreditch Town Hall.
