She's baaaack! After a 20-year retirement from the business, actor and comedian Marsha Warfield is back on the scene, openly out, and has a lot to say. Politics, coming out, her role as a black woman in society, and even pizza… at age 70 she's not shying away this time. Not even meaning to, Marsha made national fame for her role as Roz in Night Court during the ‘80s and ‘90s. This year, she returned to the role for the reboot, and as life imitates art, her character is also out and proud and newly married to a woman. Representation has certainly come a long way. In this episode, Marsha gets candid and talks about growing up in Chicago's South Side, her early stand-up career that happened almost by chance, packing up and moving to Los Angeles, working on The Richard Pryor Show, getting cast on Night Court, staying in the closet, coming out of the closet, coming back to the biz and Night Court, her take on the entertainment industry, finding love and marriage, and a lot more.Hosted by Alexander Rodriguez. @alexanderisonairCheck out our in-depth chat with her in the current issue of Metrosource or at Metrosource.com
In this episode of the Ern and Iso Podcast, the duo continues with "Y'all Crazy" Part 3, diving into the recent backlash Eboni K. Williams faced. The "Hollywood Housewives of New York" star and current podcaster on "Holding Court" received criticism after announcing her pregnancy at 40 through IVF, using her frozen eggs and a sperm donor.
June 3, 2024 — A look this week's special legislative session to elect the next state Supreme Court justice; Sen. Tim Scott was on Fox News Sunday talking about former President Donald Trump's guilty convictions; the latest research on climate change as we head into hurricane season; and more.
See, the problem is, folks talk too damn much. And today Eboni and Dustin got something to say about the folks who can't seem to keep private matters private, and the impact it can have when things go to court. First up (08:55) Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis's ex-lover former Fulton County special prosecutor sat down on national television to discuss his relationship with Willis - one that could get her kicked off of Trump's criminal trial in Georgia. Next (25:33) we'll be getting into the legal proceedings between Tyrese and his first wife and his social media spiral that didn't do what he thought it did. Lastly (40:36) we get into the very serious allegations being bandied between 50 Cent and his ex Daphne Joy, and the reasons you shouldn't accuse anyone unless you're ready to back it up. Read the Sixth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. While you're at it, why not read all 27 amendments? Holding Court with Eboni K. Williams is produced by Uppity Productions LLC. The daddies just might be getting primary custody of the kids. Eboni and Dustin discuss (02:43) Jeezy's petition to have primary custody of his daughter Monaco and just how the custody courts don't always side with the mamas anymore (This episode was recorded before the news broke of Jeezy's primary custody petition retraction). We're also getting into (26:27) Honey Boo Boo, her messy Mama June and how child stars can keep or lose their money even when it's set aside in a trust. Then a sidebar on (27:02) Jerrod Carmichael's new MAX reality show. And lastly, sadly, Eboni breaks down the rolling back use of a race-consideration scholarship at (41:08) Duke University and the trouble this spells for race-considering grants, scholarships, and other aid after the Supreme Court ended affirmative action in college admissions last year . Eboni and Dustin are back and the docket is packed! We know you've been waiting for it: Eboni breaks down the alarming allegations against Sean "P-Diddy" "Puffy" "Puff Daddy" "Brother Love" Combs; (36:00) Trey Songz recent settlement; (44:00) OJ dying without paying $33 million to the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson; (52:00) and finally the former Cheeto-in-Chief, Donald J. Trump being the first U.S. President to stand criminal trial. It's some MESS, and we're about to get into it! Know your rights: the ACLU of NY has information on their website about what to do when you're stopped by police. Join Julie Potiker as she guides you in this compassionate breath meditation. She completes the meditation with her poem, "Holding Court".Holding Court, by Julie PotikerScattered about, Western Sycamore leaves forever remind me of book pages - undone, unglued, unloved, discarded.Feeling this dip in mood, I make my way to the caged veggie garden below in search of something yummy.Bright green cauliflower lifts my spirits. I wrestle it out of the rich soil with the help of Cutco kitchen scissors. I really must get some garden shears. Been a year that I've been saying that in my head, and sometimes out my mouth. It's 5pm now, so the buzz saws, trucks, and workmen's chatter are silenced. Two heads cauliflower filling my hands, I'm stopped in my tracks by the sounds and sights of happy hour in full swing in the Scrub Pine.Standing stock still, I search for movement along the branches. Birds the size of pine cones, and dark smooth pine cones that look like birds tucked in tight among the spikey needles in the fading light.Bewick's Wren was holding court. His friends, Bushtit, Warbler and Towhee singing a cappella. A refrain rang out from Crow, he was winging it, he may have lost the score. Above it all, Red Tailed Hawk was conducting. What a blessing. I stand a while, take it all in. Darkness is descending and with it the last of the temperate air. The chill nudges me to move along, it's time to make dinner, my soul restored.-"Holding Court", by Julie Potiker.Find out more about using mindfulness in everyday life through Julie's books, "SNAP: From Calm to Chaos", and "Life Falls Apart, But You Don't have To: Mindful Methods for Staying Calm in the Midst of Chaos". Former Tennis player and current ESPN Tennis Broadcaster Patrick McEnroe returns to the podcast after a six-year absence. He previously came on Episode 59. Since then, he started his own podcast, “Holding Court.” As a player, McEnroe won one singles title and 16 doubles titles, including the 1989 French Open. His career-high rankings were world No. 28 in singles and world No. 3 in doubles. His younger brother is John McEnroe, a tennis legend. The McEnroe brothers have opened the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in many New York area locations. They are also embarking on a trip to Tanzania from December 1st-8th, 2023 to bring tennis to a part of the world that hasn't been exposed to the sport. In this episode, McEnroe discusses the current state of the sport of tennis and its surge in popularity. They discuss the potential for Carlos Alcaraz, the amazing staying power of Novak Djokovic, and the balance on the women's side. They talk about the growth of tournaments beyond the four major tournaments.
We're in the presence of royalty this week as we welcome Queen Denise to the podcast for the first time. If you're a regular listener, you know who Queen Denise is, but you may not know what she actually does for a living…and how cool it is! Denise joins us to talk about her career as a bourbon steward (yes, it's a real job!), explaining what it's like to get paid to drink whiskey. She also discusses attending Moonshiner University (yes, it's a real place!), dishes about her relationships with whiskey reps and lifts the veil on what it's like being a woman in a very male-dominated industry. And of course, she shows off some of her knowledge about whiskey by bringing on not one, but two different Green River bourbons for us to try. Let there be no doubt, this Queen is VERY good to her subjects. Long may she reign!
In my latest pod presented by Hoggatt Injury Law, I discuss how the Broncos have become easier to appreciate than explain after they won their fourth straight game for the first time since 2016. Denver did a lot of things poorly – slowing the run, inability to convert on third down or convert takeways into touchdowns – but when it mattered most Russell Wilson connected with Courtland Sutton and the defense made a final stand. My pod is made possible by the great folks at Mile High Sports, Hoggatt Injury Law, RBJ Glass and Most Valuable Portraits Inc.

Patrick talks politics with tennis fan and former Communications Director for the RNC Doug Heye. How does Doug size up the current political climate, and does he see another Biden/Trump matchup in the next Presidential Election?A veteran of politics since 1990, Doug has served in leading communications positions in the House of Representatives and United States Senate, the Republican National Committee, as well as serving in the George W. Bush Administration. Heye most recently served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications for House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, where he garnered on the record bi-partisan praise for his team-building, communications and strategic planning abilities. Upon Heye's arrival in the Capitol in 2012, Roll Call quickly named Heye one of their “Fabulous 50,” noting Heye's ability to “set the tone and frame the debate” as someone “in the room when decisions are made.” In 2010, Heye served as communications director of the Republican National Committee. During these historic elections, Heye excelled in his handling of multiple large-scale public relations crises and pursuing an aggressive media strategy. Upon announcing his departure from the committee, Heye won unanimous, bi-partisan praise for his performance, being called a “pro's pro” in POLITICO by his counterpart at the Democratic National Committee for his handling of what CNN labeled “one of the most demanding jobs in Washington.”Heye is a sought-after commenter on political events and public policy, making more than two hundred appearances on national and international television networks, leading POLITICO to write in 2011, “when the red camera light turns on, Heye doesn't disappoint.” He has written for many publications, including U.S. News & World Report, POLITICO, The Hill and Capitol File magazine. What's good, jurors! Eboni and Dustin are back in the courtroom with another episode of Holding Court, where they break down the most pressing legal cases of the week. First up, Halle Berry and her ex-husband are taking their divorce settlement to the next level by hiring a private judge. But will this move give them the edge they need to settle their differences, or will it just add more drama to the mix? In a shocking twist, a mother is facing felony charges after her 6-year-old son brought a gun to school and accidentally shot his teacher. Eboni and Dustin are on the case, trying to make sense of the charges and the aftermath of this tragic event. And in a story that hits close to home for many Black families, a couple in Texas says that their newborn was taken away by authorities simply because they chose to have a midwife instead of giving birth in a hospital. The hosts bring their signature wit to unpack the legal implications of this troubling case.So grab your gavels and join Eboni and Dustin for another episode of Holding Court, where they keep it real and keep you informed on all the latest legal drama!
