The gang's all here! Joel, Kim and Chris return to serve up all the drama from Round 2 of Roland-Garros 2025 — and what a rollercoaster it's been! It was heartbreak for the British women as all three bowed out, but there's still hope on the men's side with a surprise all-Brit clash now set between Fearnley and Norrie. Meanwhile, Jack Draper lit up the Parisian night in a sizzling showdown with crowd-favourite Gael Monfils — and did his best to dodge a 5th set thriller!Emotions ran high as French maestro Richard Gasquet bid adieu to the sport on Court Philippe-Chatrier, falling to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. We look back at his fabulous career (and that oh-so-silky one-handed backhand!). Elsewhere, big names like Djokovic and Alcaraz powered on, while seeds Tsitsipas, Ruud, de Minaur, and Mensik suffered surprise exits. While British women are out — with Raducanu falling to queen of clay Iga Swiatek — the American charge is alive and swinging, with Gauff, Keys, and Kenin all cruising through (rackets in hand this time!). And don't miss our pick for Round 3: Ostapenko vs Rybakina — it's going to be fire!PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you're serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods.

The Sunshine Swing is here and whilst it's been relatively plain sailing for the top ranked women on the WTA Tour, it has been anything but for the men out in the desert. Join Joel and Chris for a midway catch-up as they discuss *another* lucky loser loss for Novak Djokovic out in Palm Springs, this time to Botic van de Zandschulp. It was also a tournament to forget for top seed Alexander Zverev whose hopes of becoming World Number 1 took another dent with Jannik Sinner still firmly in the driving seat. There was also a worrying setback for Nick Kyrgios as retirement rumours spread and Carlos Alcaraz got a big buzz from bumblebee fans in the crowd. On the women's side, we wonder if this is two-time champ Iga Swiatek's title to lose and who could potentially stop her with Sabalenka, Gauff and Rybakina all progressing. Madison Keys also returned for her first event back after becoming Australian Open champion and there was Great British success for lucky loser Sonay Kartal who was ready to pack her bags after a qualies defeat… but is now gearing up to face Aryna Sabalenka for a spot in the quarter-finals.
Tennis, stop. Give us a minute, my God. The chaotic February schedule gives us a first-time 1000 title winner (Anisimova), a first-time ATP titlist (Fonseca), Ostapenko's fifth unanswered defeat of Swiatek, and Bencic winning a big title soon after her return from maternity leave. While trying to keep track of tennis results, we also saw the resolution of the Sinner's WADA appeal, the conclusion of the WTA's investigation into Stefano Vukov, and Simona Halep's retirement. 01:40 Anisimova wins Doha, Penko turns her year around 5:35 Fonseca's first title, Schwartzman's swan song, and will the South American swing go hardcourt? 11:40 Alejandro, por qué??? 15:10 Last week: Bencic, Alcaraz, Shapo 19:40 The Sinner Agreement 31:05 US Open makes mixed doubles a glorified exhibition 40:55 Compton's most famous daughter 47:05 Rybakina's coach Vukov suspended for a year 53:30 Simona Halep retires 62:20 We don't need straight men's takes on which men are hot
Quiet week in tennis? It will never happen. ATP coach Calvin Betton, The i Paper journalist James Gray and former tennis reporter George Bellshaw sit down to discuss a couple of weighty issues in tennis this week. Jannik Sinner has agreed a three-month ban with Wada after two positive test for clostebol last March. Wada re-stated their acceptance of his excuse, that a member of staff had used it, but would have claimed on appeal that he bore some responsibility for the actions of his team members. Stefano Vukov, somehow still coach to Elena Rybakina, has been handed a one-year ban by the WTA for "mental abuse", calling Rybakina stupid and telling her she would "still be picking potatoes in Russia" if it wasn't for her, as well as pushing her physically to the point that she got ill. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6035283/2025/02/11/stefano-vukov-wta-ban-report-elena-rybakina-coach/ Joao Fonseca has won his first ATP tour title in Buenos Aires Jelena Ostapenko didn't win the title in Doha but has cemented her place as Calvin's "absolutely rock star" of women's tennis Learn more about your ad choices.
