Viral digital creator/artist and Forbes 30 Under 30 winner Danny Casale (aka Coolman Coffeedan) has set the art world on fire with the launch of his first global institutional exhibition, “Dumb Dreams and Messy Hands" from V/Collective in partnership with chi K11 Art Museum (B3 K11 Art Mall, 300 Huaihai Road Central, Huangpu District, Shanghai), which launched on July 7 and will run through October 7. The launch bolstered more than 1,300 VIP guests and media in attendants, shattering chi K11 Art Museum's record for the largest exhibition opening in the museum's history by double. The four chapters of Danny's show feature 43 of his most representative short films from 2017 along with sculptures of his star characters, inviting the audience to become Spesh, Iggy and the artist himself, and to immerse themselves in? the adventures of Coolman Coffeedan's world. Unlike most artists with an academic background, Casale chose to become a Youtuber instead of pursuing a traditional career in film and television after graduating from film school. Although his first animation, Snakes Have Legs, became an overnight sensation, Casale's dream of becoming a people's artist had started when he was just a kid in Long Island. He rode the wave of the Internet to share his doodles with the world, creating vivid animals and humans with plots, and sounds, giving them real-life experiences and whimsy about the world. The individuality of his signature characters, Spesh and Blue Dude, reflect the human beings they embody. As Casale's first global institutional exhibition, the theme of “Dumb Dreams and Messy Hands" hints at the growth trajectory of the artist while reminding us of the importance of putting thought into action and staying true to ourselves.

Can you eliminate mental health stigma through TikTok? Obviously not, but you can spark a larger conversation about mental health, or just send a friend something cute to cheer them up. That's exactly what today's guest's “bad animations” are all about. A self-described “bad animator,” Danny Casale, better known as Coolman_Coffeedan, has built up a huge following of people who love his characters and derive emotional comfort from them. Guest Bio Self-titled “Bad Animator” and Forbes 30 Under 30 nominee Danny Casale (aka Coolman Coffeedan) first went viral when his cartoon titled “Snakes Have Legs” received tens of millions of views. Casale has since turned his humorous and crudely-drawn cartoons into a profession, with an internet following well into the millions and his first book, UR SPECIAL: Advice for Humans from Coolman Coffeedan on sale now. Danny grew up getting in trouble for doodling during class. He didn't see himself as an artist by any means but loved the process of getting the cartoonish visions out of his head and onto paper. As an adult, he's taken those doodles and turned them into wildly popular animations that bring a dose of positivity to millions of people's timelines. Inside Mental Health Podcast Host Gabe Howard is an award-winning writer and speaker who lives with bipolar disorder. He is the author of the popular book, "Mental Illness is an Asshole and other Observations," available from Amazon; signed copies are also available directly from the author. Gabe makes his home in the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio. He lives with his supportive wife, Kendall, and a Miniature Schnauzer dog that he never wanted, but now can't imagine life without. Can a doodle improve your mental health? If it's drawn by Danny Casale, it just might! Under the moniker of Coolman Coffeedan, Danny is using his art to provide encouragement, make people laugh, and even explore the challenges of mental health. His work took off during the pandemic, and now he has millions of followers who rely on his adorable characters to uplift and inspire them. His new book UR Special: Advice for Humans from Coolman Coffeedan, tackles topics ranging from loneliness and anxiety to grief and self-confidence. And just like this conversation, his art will make you smile. In this episode, you'll learn: How Danny turned doodling into a mental health movement. Why it's important to him to address mental health issues openly. Why he thinks so many people are connecting with his drawings.
In 2017, Danny Casale noticed how negative and polarizing the internet was. He sat down at his computer for a couple of hours and created a humourous video animation about misinformation on the internet. This video was “Snakes Have Legs” and today has tens of millions of views. Since this video took off, Danny has been able to turn his passion into a very lucrative career. He has over eight million social followers across platforms, he's written a book UR Special, and in 2021, he minted the NFT project Coolman Universe which sold for $3.6 million in just 3 minutes. In this episode, Hala and Danny talk about Danny's life journey, being a creator in the early days of YouTube, his recipe for going viral, how he stays inspired, how he monetizes his art, his NFT project Coolman's Universe, and so much more. Today's episode is packed with some of the most takeaway of any show I've done to date! First you'll hear me do a creative check in about how lack of specificity can inhibit us from getting what we want. Then I dive into my interview with Susan Robertson. Susan is a Harvard Lecturer, Innovation thought leader, consultant to world-leading companies and a performing artist. She is best known for being an instructor on innovation and applied creativity at Harvard’s Professional Development Program and for working with and teaching some of the world’s largest brands about innovation including Pepsico, Clorox and Bank of America. I wanted to have Susan on because she has tangible advice on how to overcome the negativity bias, which is our tendency not only to register negative stimuli more readily but also to dwell on these events. This bias has an incredible negative effect not only on our creativity as individuals, but as leaders and when we work creatively in groups. Overcoming it is a game-changer! From this conversation, you'll learn: -What the negativity bias & and three simple steps to overcome it! -How to start reclaiming your creative nature, if you've lost it -The danger of the phrase, “yes but” -The KEY to Great problem solving -What the status quo bias is and how to overcome it -How to get out of your golden (or rusty metal) handcuffs -How to lead as an employee and create a more creative environment -The difference between innovation & creativity -How you can creatively pivot during the pandemic And much more! I know it's not skateboarding, but this stuff is insane to me and I am truly intrigued and loved every minute of these docs. Paul H. Smith is the longest serving controlled remote viewing (CRV)* teacher active today, having begun his career as an instructor in 1984. He served for seven years in the government’s Star Gate remote viewing program at Ft. Meade, MD (from September 1983 to August 1990). Starting in 1984, he became one of only five Star Gate personnel to be personally trained as remote viewers by the legendary founders of remote viewing, Ingo Swann and Dr. Harold E. Puthoff at SRI-International. Paul was the primary author of the government RV program’s CRV training manual, and served as theory instructor for new CRV trainee personnel, as well as source recruiting officer, unit security officer, and unit historian. He went on to teach controlled remote viewing to such well-known remote viewing personalities as Lyn Buchanan, Mel Riley and David Morehouse. Paul is credited with over a thousand training and operational remote viewing sessions during his time with Star Gate. On this episode of Unleash, I talk with Adaire Byerly, Founder and CEO of Entertainment Mindframe, a company paving the way for the understanding the Brain function of Creatives. Today Adaire is a licensed Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programing and Neuroplasticity and also certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Techniques & works with creative and entertainment professionals to help them optimize creativity, best business practices and individual/company growth through Cognitive Sciences. From this episode, you’ll learn: Tactics to create dopamine naturally The science behind manifesting How to increase creativity What makes the brains of creative people different (and how to increase this potential in your own brain) How to get better at hearing the word, ‘no’ The difference between fear and danger How to make a big career transition Why creative life has so many ups and downs, from a neurological perspective And much more!
